Sailing Home, Itty Bitty Greetings, Masculine Birthday Card, 2019-2020 Stampin' Up! Catalog

I found today's card on Pinterest.  You can see the original card here. I had to make a few minor changes.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  The original card used the new in color Seaside Spray.  I did end up ordering the paper and ink pad. The past couple of years I have not been buying the in colors because I don't use them very often and I end up after 2 years having a lot of card stock left.  Last year I kind of wanted the Grapefruit Grove color but I refrained from ordering it and I did just fine. But this year I caved and ordered only the Seaside Spray.  Mostly because of this new "Sailing Home" set.  I am pretty sure I will be using a LOT of that card stock.  I'll keep you posted on how that is going!!! LOL

For my layers, I cut a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Balmy Blue (I think the Seaside Spray is supposed to be the right color, that is why I only have a little bit of it showing). I taped the Balmy Blue piece on top of the card base.  Then I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Night of Navy and a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White.

I cut a 1-3/4" x 4" piece of the sail boat imaged paper from the "Come Sail Away" Designer Series Paper (DSP) 12" x 12" pack.  I set the DSP strip on top of my Whisper White piece so I would know where to stamp my images.

I stamped the sail boat using Night of Navy ink. Then I stamped the compass using Balmy Blue ink.  I stamped the birds in Night of Navy. I used the wrong ink pad, I really wanted them to be in Balmy Blue, but it is what it is.  Then I stamped the words using Night of Navy ink. The words are from the "Itty Bitty Greetings" set

I taped the Whisper White piece to the Night of Navy piece and then added the DSP strip. I tied some thread around the strip and taped the ends on the back.  I slipped a small piece of thread under the three pieces of thread and tied a bow.  Then I taped the piece on top of the Balmy Blue piece and the card was done.

It's a very quick and simple card to make. I think I would like it better with the Seaside Spray color.

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
