Playing in the Rain, Shower or Birthday or Congratulations Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a card to share with you that could be used for a shower, birthday or congratulations card. Does the image look familiar?  It's from last months calendar page. I thought I would work with it right away instead of letting it sit on my worktable waiting for me to use it or waiting to get ruined by something being set on top of it.  Please read on to see how I made this card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Dotted Circles" embossing folder. I glued that to the card base.

Next I took my bunny image and trimmed it to 3-3/8" x 2-1/2". I taped it to a 3-5/8" x 2-3/4" piece of Old Olive card stock. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the lower part of the card about 1/2" from the left edge and the bottom edge. 

The words are from the "Playing in the Rain" (retiring) set and was stamped using Old Olive ink. I cut them out using the second smallest die in the "Deckled Circles" set and the Old Olive layer behind it was cut using the 3rd smallest die in that same set. I taped the layers together. Dimensionals were added to the back over the areas that wouldn't be touching the bunny layer. I did add a dot of glue to the upper right corner of the bunny layer and then I set the circle in place. And that was it, the card was done.

That was a very quick and easy card to make, especially when most of it is already done!

Under My Umbrella, Baby Shower Card

I had to make one more card using the "Under My Umbrella" set before I put it away. I wanted to make sure I had a baby shower card for my stash. I probably will be keeping this one since I will be giving up my set sometime in the future. You can see the original card here. 

I made my card a little different. The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. This card opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Daffodil Delight Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the Brights Collection 6" x 6" stack. I taped this piece to the front of the card.

I used the largest "Stitched So Sweetly" scalloped rectangle die for the Basic White panel. I die cut this piece and then I set it in my Stamparatus to stamp the words from the "Under My Umbrella" set. The words were stamped using black Memento ink. 

Next I stamped the umbrellas using black Memento ink on Petal Pink, Daffodil Delight and Sea Side Spray card stock. I used my chalk pen on the Sea Side Spray piece and then it dried up. So I had to take some white acrylic paint and a toothpick and add the dots to the pink and yellow umbrellas. I set them aside to dry.

I stamped the flowers from the same set using black Memento ink. I colored them in using the light Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo and Granny Apple Green Blends pens. I fussy cut the flowers out and set them aside.

The handles were punched out using Soft Suede card stock.

The rectangle piece was ready to be set on the front of the card but I couldn't find it. I traced my steps, looked on the floor. I even looked on the elbow of my sweater in case I had gotten tape on it and it was stuck to my clothing.  It was no where to be seen. UGH.  So I put the Dimensionals on the umbrellas and tried to think of where it could have gone. I added tape to the back of the umbrella handles and then I decided I just had to make another one.  So I got a quarter sheet of Basic White card stock and I took out my Stamparatus and lo and behold, there it was still under the magnets in the Stamparatus!!!  I've never done that before.  There's a first time for everything. 

So after my discovery, I taped the scalloped piece onto the DSP, centering it as much as I could by eying it.  

I removed the protective pieces from the Dimensionals and I stuck the umbrella to it making sure it was straight. I did that with the other two umbrellas. I set the pink one in place first, then the yellow and then the blue.

I added a dot of glue to the top of each umbrella and I set the little flowers in place. I added some Wink of Stella to the flowers only, not the leaves.

I took my Sea Side Spray Blends pen and colored some rhinestones and added them to the center of each flower and the card was done.

This was a very easy card to make and it was fun until I couldn't find the scalloped piece.  I am going to be keeping this card for future use. I have newly married nephews who will probably be starting a family soon and I probably won't own this set by then, but the card is ready!!

Kangaroo & Company, Baby Card, 2021 Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog

I grabbed my new "Kangaroo & Company" stamp and thought I'd make a baby card today. I was looking at my stash of cards and found a few categories that are either empty or very low. I found this card here. I didn't copy it exactly, I used different colors because I didn't want to commit to pink or blue. And I used a different texture too.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of the Purple Posy card stock that was textured using the "Old World Paper" embossing folder. I did texture a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece before I cut it. Sometimes the piece is a bit smaller because of the texturing. So I just play it safe and texture first and then cut to size. I used glue to set the piece in place.  I don't always have good luck with the tape sticking because there's not enough contact surfaces and I didn't want to use a lot of tape.  Glue is cheaper and does a better job for me.

I also cut a 5-1/4" x 1-1/2" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Hydrangea Hill" 12" x 12" package. I also glued this piece in place.

I die cut the largest "Stitched Circle" die using Purple Posy cards stock and I die cut a scalloped circle using a piece of Whisper White card stock.  

I stamped the Kangaroo and the baby on a piece of Whisper White card stock and then I fussy cut them out.  It is common practice for me to put a rubber band or large hair band around my sets that have matching dies. I had put the die for this set around a word set. Don't ask why. But after I got all done cutting I saw the word set and wondered why it had a rubber band around it and there was the matching dies for the "Kangaroo & Company" set.  DUH!!!  Oh well, now I know.  See what happens when you buy too many sets (or when you get old). Let's just go with the too many sets, okay?  LOL  

I colored the kangaroos in using the light Crumb Cake Blends pen. I did not color the front of the larger Kangaroo. Then I took the dark Crumb Cake Blends pen and colored in some darker areas. Then I came back with the light pen and went over the dark areas to blend the colors and soften the line between the light and dark.  And if you color over your light area with the light again it will get a little darker too. I colored the ears with the light Flirty Flamingo Blends pen. I did color over that area with the light Crumb Cake to it muted the pink a bit. I also took my Basic Black marker and drew in some eyelashes. I just thought they needed some. Not as cute as I thought it would be.  Note to self: don't make eyelashes next time! LOL

I taped the little half kangaroo into the pocket of the larger one. I had cut a slit for the pocket with my craft knife. I set this piece on top of the Purple Posy circle to see where the words needed to go. The words are from the same set and I stamped them using black Memento ink.

Next I taped the kangaroos on the circle and the circle was taped to the scalloped Whisper White circle. I added Dimensionals to the back and before I set it in place I cut a piece of Whisper White ribbon that was about 5" long. I folded it in half and taped it in the middle to stay.  Then I taped it to the front of the card making sure that the bottom part of the ribbon would show about 1-1/2".  I set the circle in place over the ribbon and the card was done.

This was a fun card to make and it will be even more fun the next time I use it because I have the dies that will save me some time and frustration!!!

Moon Baby, Baby Shower Card

Today's card was a lot of fun to create. I LOVE using one image in different colors to create a fun background.  Here I used the diaper pin from the "Better Together" set. The pins are stamped using Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky and Pink Pirouette.  After stamping them I cut the piece of Whisper White card stock down to 4" x 5-1/4".  

Next I took a 2" x 4" piece of Whisper White and stamped the baby image on it. I also stamped one on some scrap card stock along with the teddy bear.  I had to fussy cut the umbrella top, baby and bear.  Once they were cut I colored them in.  I usually color first and then cut but lately I've been messing up things so I thought it would be safer for me to cut and then color!  Sometimes you just have to!!! I set the umbrella, baby and teddy bear in place using Dimensionals.

I cut a 2'1/4" x 4-1/4" piece of Daffodil Delight card stock and layered it behind the focal panel.  The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Daffodil Delight. 

This card can be used as a baby shower card or a new baby baby card. I just think the little baby is adorable all by itself!

Moon Baby, Baby Shower Card. 2017 Occasions Catalog, Stamping Technique Card

Here is the card I am using for the technique swap tonight. This technique is fun and easy to do, but it does involve fussy cutting. I think the technique was called "Decorative Paper Overlay".  I stamped my image on the Whisper White cardstock and then I stamped the same image onto the decorative paper.  I cut the decorative paper pieces out by hand and taped them in place over the first stamped image.  I did color the face, hair and hands using markers and a blender pen.  

The background has a bunch of adorable animals on it, that image is in the set!!! SO darn cute!  The words are also included in the set. 

Both the image piece and word piece were die cut using the "Stitched Ovals" dies.  I cut a scalloped oval using the same Mint Macaron green as the background and card base are.  I sponged the edges on the cute animal background piece and on the scalloped oval piece.  

I set both the large and small ovals in place using Dimensionals, except for the left edge of the word piece, I just added tape there or the oval would have been crooked.

Another fun and easy card to make.  I had to fussy cut out enough for 9 cards and I didn't even complain!!  But then again, I was chatting on the phone at the time so it went rather quickly!!!

Moon Baby, Baby Card, 2017 Occasions Catalog

I don't usually buy baby stamp sets.  I find I don't use them enough to justify buying them.  But this set was just too darn cute to pass up. I fell in love with the baby sleeping on the moon image and that is what sold me on the set.  I made a card using that image back in January.  You can see that card here.  There's several other images in the set yet to be used.  I plan on trying them all out!  Lucky you!!! LOL  The stamps (wood mount) fit in the container like a puzzle!  I have to only take one out at a time so I remember how to put them back in.  

I was snooping around at Clair Daly's site and I found this fun baby card to make. I used different colored paper because I didn't have what she used.  But it's okay, this is a boy or girl card.  You can see the original card here.  

I used the green paper from the "Blossoms and Bliss" decorative 12" x 12" pack. I cut that paper 4" x 5-1/4".  Then I stamped the baby onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock that was 2" wide by "very long" so I could punch and then trim it to  4-1/4".  While my stamp pad was still dirty, I inked it up again and stamped the image on a scrap piece of the decorative "Blooms & Bliss" paper.  And then I stamped the umbrella on a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock.  I cut out the sleeper part and the umbrella.  I taped them in place.  I also colored in the face and hands of the baby. I colored in the hair and added a little Pink Pirouette for the cheeks.  

I cut a piece of decorative paper from the "Falling in Love" pack of paper to 1" x 6".  After punching the end I cut it to 4-3/4" long.  I added Dimensionals to that strip and stuck it to the back of the stamped white piece.  I tied some linen thread to the top and when I tied the knot, I added a 4" piece of cream "Lace Trim" to it. I had folded that 4" piece in half and tied the middle of it with the linen thread.  I then cut the edges at an angle after cutting the one end that was a loop.  In other words, I cut the loop open and then I had four ends to trim up.  

I stamped the "Hello Baby" image twice and used the Modern Label punch to punch them out.  I could have trimmed them a bit closer to the words but then why use the punch??  I think it looks fine as it is.  The white showing on "hello" is at the top and there is more white showing on the "baby" at the bottom.  It all balances out.  I taped those pieces in place, but I only taped the left sides of each one.  

I added rhinestones and I also added a pearl to the top of the umbrella, you can kind of see it.  Click on the photo for a closer view. And the card was done.  Such a sweet and cute baby card!!!  Into my stash it goes, I have no need for one right now!!  See why I don't usually buy baby sets???

Teeny Tiny Wishes Wedding Graduation Shower Party Favor

Tomorrow night I will  be helping Terri at her downline Technique Night.  The instructions for this project can be found here.  

I will be participating in the card swap tomorrow night.  I don't often find time to play in the swaps but this time I did have time to make the project.  Last month this technique and the Northern Lights one was taught to the group and this month we swap the one of those techniques.  So here's my card for tomorrow.  It actually opens up, the Bermuda Blue card stock is a folded half sheet.   

I'm cutting this post short because I have only finished this one and I need to finish up the other 9 before I go to bed soon!  So I'm off to assemble!

Graduation, Wedding, Shower Party Favors

Last night at Terri's very fun Technique Tuesday for her downline, they got to make this fun party favor.  

This one was actually made into a card.  I should have taken the photo at an angle so you can see that the part where the ribbon is tied is actually a "box" where you slide in 3 Hershey Nuggets.  I did not come up with this idea, I found it online.  I had made one before and I actually taught the group how to do this.  It was fun teaching there.  I had not done that in a VERY long time.  

I do not know the name of the stamp set that was used here.  That usually means that I don't own it.  I would like to own it but I saw the new catalog and there's too many things in it that I want, so I will not be getting this set.

Anyway, if you'd like to learn how to make theses fun party favors you can find at link to it on my first posting of this project.  

These would make very fun and adorable thank you's for a graduation party, wedding, a baby shower, and a wedding shower.  Plus they make a nice card that an be used as a birthday (as shown), a get well gesture or even just a thinking of you card.  And surprisingly so, they don't take long to make at all!!!  Give one a try and you'll be making more!!!

Teeny Tiny Wishes Party Favor

Today I wanted to see if I could work the Party Favor candy holder into more of a card form.  And I did!!!  

For this card, I used the "Lullaby" decorative paper and the soon to be retiring Crisp Cantaloupe card stock.  There was very little stamping done here.  I used the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" and the set, and the "Bitty Banners" Framelits to cut the words out.

I used the "Bow Builder" punch for the adorable bow on the right side.  And ribbon was tied on the left to hold in the candies.  

The instructions for this fun party favor can be found here.  These are so fun and easy to make.  I'm pretty sure I will be making a bunch of these for a baby shower in the near future!!!  I think these would also make a great stocking stuffer or even a teacher gift!!  Oh and don't forget the Hostess gift or Customer Appreciation gift.  What a fun little thing to give away along with the instructions to make them!!!

Something Borrowed and Teeny Tiny Wishes Wedding Favor

Today I was playing with some of this fun "Something Borrowed" decorative paper.  I always think wedding when I see this paper.  I found a fun party favor to make and this wedding paper came to mind.  Well, both items kind of found themselves together!  I can't find the link to where I got the pattern, so I will have to give you the measurements and how to make it.

Take a piece of 3" x 7-1/2" card stock.  I used Sahara Sand.  Score the piece on the long side at 1-3/8", 1-7/8" 3-1/4", and 3-3/4".  Fold the score lines to form a rectangle box.  Use Sticky Strip to tape the bottom part of the box.  Now you can decorate the box as you wish.

I used the Something Borrowed paper to decorate mine.  I cut the pieces as follows:  the top piece measures 1-1/8" x 2-3/4" and the larger piece on the side measures 2-1/8" x 2-3/4".  I added the "thank you" using the Teeny Tiny Wishes set.  Then I set it in place using Dimensionals.  I added some pearls to the front and then I filled that box space in with 3 Hershey's  Nuggets and tied a ribbon around it.  SO quick and simple.  I could see doing this for a baby shower or even a graduation!

It's a Wrap Occasions Baby Shower Candies

This "It's a Wrap" set has been a lot of fun to play with.  I also kept the other stamped candy wrapper set.  I just think they are fun to have.  I used the set to make shower candies for my daughter-in-law's bridal shower, I used one of the sets to make wedding ones for the Groom's dinner and I have made "thank you" ones too.  And today I made baby shower ones.  The baby shower is tomorrow and I am not done making the baby blanket.  It's not like I don't have other gifts for her.  I could put the blanket on hold (well, not on hold, I could not give it to her tomorrow) and bring her something else.  I have another shower to go to for her so I could bring it then if I don't finish it tonight.  Though I am REALLY hoping on getting it done tonight.  

I did the candies in Daffodil Delight, Certainly Celery (soon to retire), Pretty in Pink (soon to retire), Bashful Blue (soon to retire), and Wisteria Wonder.  They don't know the sex of the baby so I just used all of the pastel baby colors!  

I really don't have a lot to say about these candies.  They are easy to make.  You just stamp on mailing labels, remove them from the label sheet and wrap them around the candies.  So simple.  You need to use the Hershey Nuggets. I originally bought the Hershey miniatures but they labels would work nice on them, they weren't wide enough.  Note to self: I need to hide those miniatures from hubby.  He's such a candy freak!!!

I will let you go now so you can head to the store to get some Hershey Nuggets and some mailing labels.  It's the address ones you want (30 to a page).  Have fun with these!

Bootiful Occasions Baby Shower Card

Okay, I promise this is the last baby card for a while.  And that means for at least for another month or so!  I just wasn't happy with one of the baby shower cards so I felt I had to make another one that I liked better.  

I'm thinking I should have done the boot in blue but since the sex of the baby is not known I did need to keep it neutral.  Though with the blue layers and sponging, I am hoping for a boy!!  But a girl will be fun too.  I would look forward to the nail polish and dresses with a girl and with a boy, it's all old news for me!  So either with it will be fun!

On this card I used the Bootiful Occasions set for the boot and I cut it out and set it in place with Dimensionals.  

I punched out flowers and for the stems I used a piercing tool and punched holes in the paper and drew in lines of Certainly Celery for the stems.  The flowers were punched out and set in place with Dimensionals as well.  And that whole panel was set on the card using Dimensionals.

The second panel was done using the Sunshine & Sprinkles decorative paper.  I still have a lot of that paper to use up!!  

And the background was made using the Dotted embossing folder.  This was fun, easy and quick to make!  And I like it a lot better than the one I was going to use.

Rain or Shine and Sunshine & Sprinkles

The title of the two items are like opposites.  Rain or Shine and Sunshine & Sprinkles.  Kind of sounds like shine and rain!  Are you confused now?  LOL  Well, my card won't confuse you.  It's a fairly simple card.  They're usually simple when you use decorative papers or when you use textured backgrounds.

The decorative paper used here is from the "Sunshine & Sprinkles" pack.  And the images are from the "Rain or Shine" set.  

After layering the decorative papers, I punched out a large circle and then stamped the words in the middle.  I know, it's not the right way to do it.  But I did it that way and it words first but like I said, it worked out.  Then I stamped the umbrellas and cut them out by hand.  Not one of my favorite things to do.  And the same with the handles. I did NOT like cutting those tiny things out at all.  Next time I make a card like this the circle is going to be bigger so I can just stamp the handles directly on the paper! I set the umbrellas where I wanted them to go and then I stamped the rain.  I set the umbrella tops in place using Dimensionals.  Then I glued the handles in place.  It's a simple card but it was the cutting that I just didn't like.  But it's done and I now have my two baby shower cards for the two baby showers I will be attending soon.  I do like this one much better than yesterday's post.  I think I'll use this one at the shower my daughter-in-law's family is having.  I don't need to impress my family!!! LOL

Rain or Shine Baby Shower Card

At the end of the month I will be in need of a baby shower card.  My daughter-in-law is having a baby (yup, I'm going to be a grandma!) and I am in need of a baby shower card. Actually I will be in need of two.  Her family is also having a shower and I will be attending that one too.  SO this is the first card I have ready.

I used the Rain or Shine set in the new mini catalog.  And the background was done using the boots from the Spring Sampler set.  The cute raindrops in the strip are from the Rain or Shine set as well as the words.  Now I need to find some verbiage for the inside.  And I snuck away here for a second and found a site that has words for inside baby shower cards.  You can find it here.  I'm taking one of them and personalizing it a bit more. I'll print it out on the computer and tape it on a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of card stock inside the card.  I'm going to stamp some boots on the envelope and it will be ready! One down one more to go!

Easy Events Baby Shower Card

I had gotten some requests for measurements on yesterdays card so I thought I would make another card and measure as I go.  I needed to make a baby shower card for my husband's great niece.  Yup, he's going to be a great-great uncle (again!).  And no, he's not really that old!!  His sisters are 17 years older than he is so there's bound to be some generation gaps there! 

So to make this card you need to cut your card stock as follows:

Take a piece of card stock cut 5-1/2” x 4-1/4”.  Score it in half on the long side (your score line is 4-1/4” long). 

Cut the front flap off at 1-3/4”. 

The layer behind the decorative paper is cut 2-3/8” x 5-3/8”

The decorative paper is cut 2-1/4” x 5-1/4”

Put those two layers together and tie a piece of ribbon around the bottom.  Then tape that piece to the front of the card.

The flap is cut 3” x 6” and score it on the long side.  Fold the 3” score. 

Decorate your card as you wish.  Today I used the duck from the Easy Events set.  So there you have it, now get to work on it!!!

Check out yesterdays card to see what the inside looks like.  On this card I used Petite Pairs and the words are "welcome baby."  I still need to stamp the duck on the front of the envelope and get a gift card!  But now I have my card done early!  I have one birthday and one anniversary next month and maybe I should get those cards done early too!!!  Wouldn't that be nice to be ahead of the game?

Life Saver Thank You Treat Weekend Project

 Are you looking for something fun to give to your customers to say "thank you?"  I have a fun little project here for you to play with.  This doesn't have to be just for customers, it can be a very fun party favor too for showers, graduations and weddings.  Just find the papers you want for the occasion and you are set!

For this project you will need the 2 Tags die.  I cut one out and folded it up from the bottom 1-1/2".  I did not crease it at the bottom, I left it rounded.  My paper here is from the Spice Cake pack. 

Next I used the Circle Circus set and stamped one of the images using Pool Party ink.  I punched out the image with the scallop circle punch and I taped it in place on the top part of the tag. 

I took a foam mat and a pin and poked holes in the sides where I wanted the brads to go in.  Now there is a little trick to get the brads even.  You could measure but what I did was I cut out another tag out of scrap copier paper and poked a hole on one side.  I folded it in half the long way and poked the holes on the other side to match.  Now you can make them all perfect!

I punched out a More Mustard piece using the Round Tab punch.  I stamped the "thank you" from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set.  I actually got them on straight!  I had scored the center of the tab before I stamped on it and then I lined up the wood on the stamp with that scored line and viola, it was straight.  It could have been moved over to the left a smidgen but hey, it's straight!!!  I taped that tab (both sides - inside) and slipped the Life Saver inside.  I pinched the tab shut to make the tape stick to the wrapper better.  I slipped the candy in the little pouch.

I took a tiny flower punch and punched out 3 Pool Party flowers.  I set the flowers on a foam mat and then I took the end of an ink pen and  rolled it around the center of the flower so it curled up a bit.  I punched out some tiny white circles and glued them to the inside of the flowers.  I glued the flowers in place and the project was done.  

My niece is getting married this December and I think these would be a fun thing to make for each table setting.  I'm going to wait to see what new papers Stampin' Up! is going to come out with and then decide what I'm going to do for the favors!  I think it's going to be a fun thing to make.  I'll probably stick with one flavor of Life Savers since I want them to match the theme.  Here the red Life Saver doesn't match the project.  I did have some white Wintergreen ones but I remembered that after it was all done.  That is SO me!!! LOL  The red one worked fine for this project but just before I posted this here I did remove the red Life Saver and added a white one.  The tape sticks to the plastic wrapper but it doesn't stick to it like it does to paper so it was easy to remove and replace without ruining anything.

When I make this for the wedding I'll be sure to share the project with you.  There will be a few of us working on them so it won't take long to make a bunch of them up!  Nothing does when you have help

Happy Valentine's Day and Chocolate too!

Happy Valentine's Day to you! This is what hubby got today.  He is such a chocolate hound!! I have never seen a guy eat as much chocolate as he does.  I like it once in a while but not like he does.  My idea of a chocolate chip cookie is one that has only one chocolate chip in it!!! LOL  When I am finished baking I always state, "this last cookie is mine."  It usually has only one chocolate chip in it.  Funny thing here, everyone is fine with it!!! LOL  Anyway, I bought hubby one of these larger candy bars and I thought I would dress it up for Valentine's Day.  We did tell each other that we were not going to buy anything for Valentine's Day.  I told him I bought it so I could decorate it and show it off on my blog!!! LOL  Dressing up candy bars is such a quick and easy way to alter them and give them a personal touch.  These are fun to do for showers, Christmas, Easter, Birthday's, Graduation parties and of course Valentine's Day.  Or whatever other occasion you can think of.  I just think it's fun, quick and easy to do.  My niece is getting married in December and I am thinking of making some fun candy bars for her bridal shower!  Oh, you know me, I'll share them with you when I am done making them.  I suppose I could start the wrapper early and wait to buy the candy at a later date.  I did find the wooden candy bar I made years ago!!  I had taken a thin piece of craft wood and cut it the size of a candy bar so I could make wrappers.  Bag them and add chocolate later!!!

Anyway, when hubby gets home he will have his chocolate fix!  Hope you all enjoyed the day!

It's a Wrap Occasions Hershey Candies Weekend Project

Ok, when I saw this set in the catalog I KNEW I had to buy it.  And it was the first thing I put on my order too!!  I LOVE doing this kind of stuff and now Stampin' Up! has made it even easier!  Gotta LOVE that!

I thought I would start out with the "Thanks SO much" image.  I did stamp these on a mailing label.  You can use ones from any company, they are all the same size.  After stamping them I cut strips of copier paper at 1" wide and 2-3/4" long.  These strips are longer than the labels and you MUST do it like this.  Hershey has laws about what you do with their products.  You are allowed to cover these nuggets but you are NOT allowed to stick anything directly to their wrappers, nor are you allowed to remove the wrapper and decorate the candies.  SO what you can do is create a belly band type thing. By cutting the strip 2-3/4" you have made it long enough to go around the whole wrapper.  A mailing label will not go around the whole wrapper.  Affix your label on the strip about a half inch from the edge.  This 1/2" piece is where your label is going to stick to on the back.   It will wrap all the way around the candy forming a band that the candy, when pushed, will slide out.  You are now in compliance with the makers of the Hershey Nuggets!  As simple as that!  Just a little side note here, I opted to use copier because it is thin and would bend nicer than card stock.  You can also use decorative paper here but it's not going to show much at all which makes it kind of a waste to use.  But if you want to work in your decorative papers on these, you can wrap them around as your belly band and then stamp the image and cut the center part out and affix it to the dp.  See, there is a way to use it if you really want to dress up these little nuggets!!

I think these are going to be a lot of fun.  There is a get well one, a shower one, an apple (teacher) one, a Mr & Mrs one, a baby one and a birthday one!  How fun is that?  I just LOVE it!!  With our son's wedding coming up in January I am going to make the "Mr & Mrs" ones to have at the Groom's Dinner!!  Won't that be fun, party favors for every occasion?? 

Won't these be great as a customer gift and if you are not a demonstrator, they will make great little thank you's for the neighbor, the mail carrier, etc!!  I need to get some more bags of nuggets!!!  I actually bought a bag after I had paged through the catalog and saw the set.  Ok, I did wait until it was grocery shopping day to go.  I did not make a special trip for nuggets I couldn't do anything with yet!!!

Wednesday Sketch Challenge Teddy &Train

Here it's Wednesday again and I was fortunate enough to have time to play with this weeks Sketch Challenge at SplitCoastStampers. This sketch was right up my alley. I LOVE layers and this one had LOTS of them!!! I wanted to use the Stampin' Up! "Teddy & Train" set but I wasn't sure how I was going to get that teddy in that final layer. Well, cutting him out was the only option. He didn't fit there just stamping him in. And I really didn't want to make that #5 layer bigger. The whole purpose of the sketch is to follow their diagram. Making things bigger or smaller changes the sketch and takes away the challenge to the card!!

SO in sticking with the dimensions of the sketch this is what I came up with!!! I LOVED every minute of making this card!!

That little set sure has a lot of nice images to it. On the Certainly Celery strip there is a little duck stamped all over the place. I got it off the end of the train that comes in the set!! I was originally going to run the train along that strip but I didn't like the idea of the train going north and south when the layout of the rest of the card wasn't headed that way!!! SO just taking the duck was the way to go!! It worked!!

The Pretty in Pink layer has baby rattles stamped all over it using Pretty in Pink ink! I wanted to keep the colors soft but yet visible. Often using VersaMark just isn't dark enough for me. I often use the inks that match the card stock instead of VersaMark.

Those adorable buttons came from a package of little buttons from Michael's a LONG time ago. There isn't much left in that package anymore. Fortunately these buttons fit with the card nicely and I was able to use them!!!

The white background on this card was done using the Cuttlebug Dotted Swiss folder. It was a pretty simple card to do, just lots of layering. But like I said I LOVE layering!!! It was fun!!! Go play with this sketch if you have time!!! Challenge yourself to do something with this many layers!!!

Bath & Beauty Weekend Project

I can not even begin to tell you how fun it was to make this tote!!! I have seen these totes being done on many blogs and I thought they were cute but I never tried it. Well today I thought I'd give it a try and see if they were as easy as all of those bloggers were saying they were. Well, of course it was easy!!! It's one of those "why didn't I think of that" items!!

Here is how you make this. First you need the Stampin' Up! Box #2 Sizzix die. I cut two of them out of the new Dusty Durango card stock. I folded the score lines, except for the top flap, don't fold that at all. I did fold one of them and realized I shouldn't have. It doesn't really show on the box much but if you can remember, DON'T fold it!! I then put the box together like you normally would. You will need to remove the top side pieces that fold over into the top of the box. These pieces are hidden when the flap is normally folded over it and closed. These serve no purpose in this project. I suppose you could fold them in and tape them down but you don't really need any side support.

Once you have the two boxes ready take one of them and punch a hole for the handle. I used an oval punch for mine. Line it up with the second box, trace it and then punch it. Now you can tape or glue the two boxes together back to back. I used tape for mine, just regular double-sided tape. I thought glue might warp and the Sticky Strip was a bit too sticky for this.

I had gotten some of these fun bath scrubby puffs at the Dollar Tree. They come 6 in a container. I picked this yellow color because it complimented the Dusty Durango best of all of them. I tucked it in one side of the tote.

Then I found some fun hotel shampoo, conditioner and lotion bottles that I had in my cupboard. See these things do come in handy someday!!! And don't let anyone tell you any different!!! LOL

Now to keep them from tipping over in the tote I cut a piece of card stock 6" x 1-1/4" and then I score it at 7/8" intervals. The photo shows black card stock. That was my prototype!!! I had a scrap of black and I was playing around with it so I could get the inside piece right. Funny thing is, I got it right the first time. When I redid it using the Dusty Durango I taped the peaks together. That is an optional thing. It looks better if they are taped but there is more slack in each section. SO I put the black piece back in because I didn't want to cut a whole sheet of Dusty Durango just for that little strip. Now if I give it as a gift (which I probably will do) I will hopefully have a scrap piece of the Dusty Durango by then!! And if not then that person will have to be a very special one for me to sacrifice a whole sheet of card stock for them!!!! LOL

To decorate the outside of my box I used some fun scrap (yes I have scrap) decorative paper from the Razzleberry Lemonade package. I am using a lot of that paper, it's so fun!!! I may actually have to purchase another pack of it soon!!! I just measured the sides and cut the paper 1/4" less so I had a nice border on each panel.

I took out my Stampin' Up! "Oval All" set and stamped the image on Very Vanilla card stock. I did cover the words with a piece of tape. I wanted the butterfly on the oval but not the words that came with it. These words came from the new "Teeny Tiny Wished" set. I did have to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig to get the words where I wanted them in the oval but after all isn't that what the Stamp-a-ma-jig is designed to do??? Quite a while back my upline Sue showed me how to use it. I only had the thing for a year and had no idea what I was doing with it. She showed me how to use it and with her hands on help I have found this to be one of the most fun and useful tools to have. I use it a lot now!! Thanks Sue, even the little things you do mean a LOT to me!! You're the best!!! She's one of those people you meet and you can't not like her!! I am so fortunate to have her in my life!!!

Well, this is how you make this cute tote!!! Wouldn't they make great teacher's gifts? I thought it would be fun to put cookies in them. Each side looks like it would hold 2 of my homemade chocolate chip cookies!!! Hmmm, I may have to get the new Halloween papers and make some fun spooky cookies for the tote!!! Endless possibilities with this tote!!! Go have some fun with it!!! And I LOVE it when you can use your die cuts for more than what they were designed for. It makes it seem like the cost of it just went down!!! LOL

I have another project using this die cut that I will share with you in a few days.
