Scary Cute, Halloween Treat Holder, Weekend Project, Stampin' Up! 2022 Fall Mini Catalog

I found this fun coffin treat holder on Pinterest and I clicked through the link to see if there were any instructions.  I did find them but I also found them hard to follow.  It could be that I was just too tired to think straight but I tried a couple of times and then just figured it out on my own. You can see the original instructions here

Here's how I made it. The Basic Gray card stock was cut at 8-1/2" x 2-3/4".  This piece was scored at 4", 4-1/4" and 4-1/2". It was folded in half for the cutting part.

On the top edge I marked both left and right at 3/4". On each side, one inch down I placed a mark. And on the bottom I marked each side (on the fold) 1/2". I cut the top corners off first, following the side and top markings. Then I cut the bottom one using the same side marking to the bottom marking on the fold. Now it looks like a coffin, right?

Next is the inside piece that holds the treat. I could not for the life of me figure out how the piece was made. So here's how I made mine. I took a 4-1/4" x 2-1/2" piece of Basic Gray card stock. I scored it on the short side at 3/8" on the left and the right. I turned the piece to the long side and I scored it at 1-7/8" and 2-3/8".  I clipped the small side pieces and snipped the edges to allow for the piece to fold in nicely. Did you notice I fell off the track scoring?  It's easy to hide, just make sure you cover that part or put it to the back! Once the pieces were cut I stamped them using the dotted image from the "Color & Contour" set because I didn't have any other spotted looking image. It did the job. I stamped it with Basic Gray ink.

Now to assemble, I glued the sides of the treat holder together and then I glued it to the inside of the coffin. Glue was added to the bottom and the back.

I die cut the haunted house from the "Scary Cute" bundle using Basic Black card stock and I glued it on the front of the holder. I added a Crushed Curry moon too.

For the front I stamped the little Frankenstein boy from the same set using black Memento ink on Basic White card stock. I fussy cut him out. Then I die cut a stitched circle, it was the 3rd smallest in the "Stitched Shapes" die set. I took my Blending brush and scrubbed on some Night of Navy ink. The Basic Black circle behind it was the 4th smallest in the "Layering Circles" die set. I taped the two circles together. I set it in place on the front of the treat holder using Dimensionals.

The words are from the same set and were stamped on a scrap piece of Basic White using black Memento ink. I die cut them with the cute die from the same "Scary Cute" bundle. I set them in place using Dimensionals.

I added a few Basic Black card stock bats that are also part of that bundle.  Those I glued in place.  And the treat holder was done.

This was fun and pretty easy to do once I figured out how to make the holder part.

I apologize for how this post looks. Blogger must have been having issues. I had a lot of problems downloading the phots.  I've never encountered this before and this is what I ended up with. I had to run with it because I needed to get this posted.  I hope they fix the problem soon.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see today's Halloween treat holder,

Scary Cute, Halloween Fry Box Treat Holder, Weekend Project, 2022 Stampin' Up! Fall Mini Catalog

I have not made a fry box in a long time and after making that cute Halloween box on Thursday, I thought I'd try another type of candy/treat holder.  I found my fry box here. You just copy it over to your computer and set it up in your word processing program and print it out. First I printed one out on copier paper to see if I liked the size. That pattern is designed to resize to what fits your needs. My fry box measured 2" across the bottom front. It was the perfect size for my project. You can get a copy of the fry box here

I ended up tracing my fry box onto a piece of Basic White card stock. Once I printed one on copier paper, I realized those score lines would show and I didn't want that. And I thought about making a Basic Black fry box but you can't print it out because you won't be able to see the lines.  So I used the copier paper one as a template.  After tracing the box, I cut it out and then scored the side lines using my ruler and stylus on a piece of thick Fun Foam. You need a foam backing to score or you won't get a nice score and the piece will be harder to put together.  Be careful not to push too hard or you could poke through the card stock. And no, I didn't poke through mine.  Not this time anyway!  LOL  I did trace over the line a few times to leave a deep mark on my card stock. Once the scoring was done, I folded the box but didn't glue it.

I set the front of the box on my worksurface with some scrap copier paper under it. I cut a couple of strips of copier paper and taped it down over the front sides on my worksurface. I also made a template for the bottom part of the box. I traced over the arched score line on a piece of scrap paper and I taped that over the bottom part of the box.  Now I was ready to scrub on some color! I used my Blending Brush to do that.

The first color I used was Daffodil Delight. I covered the whole area with it. Then I added some Crushed Curry. The next color I added was Cajun Craze. I tried to keep this color above the Crushed Curry color. The ground was next, I took Old Olive ink scrubbed a bit in the grassy area. Then I added some Mossy Meadow to the very bottom part. And for the upper part of the sky I used Night of Navy.  And the front was ready to be decorated.

The haunted house from the "Scary Cute" bundle was die cut along with the bats, using a scrap piece of Basic Black card stock.

Then I die cut the moon using a scrap piece of Crushed Curry.

The pieces were glued in place and then the fry box was glued on the sides. The bottom of my fry box didn't line up nicely, it hung over the base a bit so I just snipped it off when the glue set up. When you glue the sides, glue the front to the back, it gives it a nicer look.

I added a little package of Oreo cookies (2 cookies in this package) and the box is ready to give to someone. I got the little pack of cookies at The Dollar Tree. There are 4 little packets in one package.

This was a fun and quick little project to do. I am going to keep this in mind for December!!

I hope you have fun making this project.

I thank you ever so much for taking your time to stop by and see today's Halloween gift fry box,

Scary Cute, Halloween Treat Box, Weekend Project, Stampin' Up! 2022 Fall Mini Catalog

While looking at a video on YouTube, I glanced over to the right at the sidebar and there was this cute Halloween box to make. Well, I couldn't wait for my video to get over so I could see how to make this box. It's pretty easy and very fun. You can see the video here

First you make the box by scoring a 6" x 7-1/2" piece of Basic Black card stock at 1", 3-1/2", 4-1/2" and 7" on the long side. Turn clockwise and score at 1", 4-1/2" x 5-1/2". Then you need to clip and cut away some pieces. I took a photo after I did my clipping and snipping. You also need to snip a partial circles

The box was then glued shut on the side. I prefer to use glue because I know it's going to hold. Then the bottom is glued.

The box is then decorated. First you cut your favorite Designer Series Papers (DSP). I used what what shown on the video. Mine is from the "Black & White" 12" x 12" package. I cut the front and back pieces at 2-1/4" x 3-1/4". The sides are cut at 3/4" x 3-1/4" and the bottom and top pieces are cut at 3/4" x 2-1/4".  When I cut my piece of DSP I cut the sheet at 2-1/4", then I cut the two 3-1/4" pieces. From what was left I was able to get all four strips. I cut a side and then a top and repeated that for the other strip. No waste there. Those pieces were all glued in place. I used the circle punch to punch the DSP on the backside where the other partial circle was cut on the Basic Black piece.

Here's where you add your treat. Then tie your favorite ribbon around the box and tie a bow on the top.

The layers for the front are a 2" x 3" piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock and a 1-3/4" x 2-3/4" piece of DSP from the Brights Collection. The character is stamped on that piece, pretty much centering it. Then the piece was taped to the Pumpkin Pie piece. The instructions say to add Dimensionals and set it on the front of the box. I would recommend adding the moon and bats (die cut from the "Scary Cute" bundle). It's easier to press them down in place without the Dimensionals cushioning it.

The words are from the same "Scary Cute" set and were stamped on a scrap piece of Highland Heather using black Memento ink. I die cut it with the die from the "Scary Cute" bundle and it was glued in place on the front of the panel. The top edge sits just under the foot of the character.

The moon and bats were glued in place and I added some iridescent sequins because I didn't have any of the gems used on the original box.  Then set the panel in place on the front of the box. Wink of Stella was added to the bats and the box was done.

Isn't it adorable?  I want to try this again with a Christmas theme.

Edited on 9-30-22.  I forgot to mention, the Oreo cookies in the cute little packages came from the Dollar Tree.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see today's fun Halloween project,

Frightfully Cute, Cute Halloween, Halloween Treat Bag, Weekend Project

Today I thought I'd make a Halloween treat bag. I am going to need to make two but I don't want to make them the same. I have some time before Halloween to figure out what I'm going to do for the second bag.

I used the Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the 6" x 6" "Cute Halloween" stack. You will need a full 6" x 6" sheet.  I scored the DSP at 1", 2-7/8", 3-7/8" and 5-3/4".  You turn the paper clockwise and score at 1" and 5-1/2".

Fold all score line using a bone folder.  The top score folds down to there is a contrasting edge.  You can fold it inside but it looks better folded down in front.  And you can glue it down if you want. I only glued the ends. I wasn't sure if I was going to need to slip a layer under it or not.

You do need to clip the bottom scores up to the 1" mark.  There will be a little 1" x 1/4" piece hanging there. Snip it off, you don't need it. Now to put the bag together, I prefer to glue the seams. Tape doesn't seem to hold as well. It doesn't take long for the glue to set up. Use your bone folder to press the glue into the paper and let it set for a minute and it's ready to go.  I glued the side seam first and then the bottom flaps.  And that was it.  Now you can decorate as desired!!!

I used a die from the "Ornate Frames" dies.  These have been around for a little while so I'm guessing they will be retiring when the next yearly catalog comes out. So I'm going to try to get some use out of them before that happens.  It worked perfectly here. It fit nice in the open space plus it left me room for words. I die cut mine using Fresh Freesia card stock. I glued it in place on the front of the bag.

I punched out the pumpkin, ghost and cat face from some DSP in the same "Cute Halloween" package. I added Dimensionals to the back of each one and set them in place on the ornate frame.

The words are from the "Frightfully Cute" stamp set and were stamped using black Memento ink on Basic White card stock.  I used my "Modern Label" punch to punch them out and I snipped the ends to make it fit. Oh, also with the words, they read "Happy Halloween to You" but I masked off the "to you" so the words would fit on the bag. I added Dimensionals to the back of the word piece.  For those of you who don't have that punch, the word piece measures 3/8" x 5-1/5".

I added the cute images and then the words.  I had some orange ribbon and I tied a bow and glued it to the top edge of the bag and the bag was done.  How cute is this?  You can also pinch the sides of the bag at the top if you want or you can punch holes and add ribbon for handles. You can also just staple the bag shut too!

This was a very fun project. I LOVE Halloween bags and these characters are so darn cute. Just perfect for little kids. Not scary at all. Just fun and friendly!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see today's Halloween bag,

Boo to You, Monster Bash DSP, Halloween Treat Holder, 2019 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog

Today I wanted to play with the "Boo to You" set since Halloween is only a day away and I'll be putting this set up for a while.  It will probably be retired because that's what happens to most of the sets in the Holiday Catalogs.

I like making these simple candy holders.  They are not only quick to make but cute too.

The sleeve measures 5-1/2" x 5-1/2".  I scored the piece at 1-1/4", 1-1/2", 3-3/4" and 4".  I burnished the fold lines so they were nice and crisp before I wrapped it around the candy bar.  This is a full size Hershey's candy bar (the 1.55 oz size).  I glued one side on top of the other side.

I cut a Basic Black piece of card stock measuring 5-3/8" x 2-1/8".  The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the "Monster Bash" 12" x 12" paper pack.  I cut it to 5-1/4" x 2" and I taped it to the Basic Black piece.  Then I taped those layers to the front of the candy bar sleeve.

I stamped the monster from the "Boo to You" set using black Memento ink.  I colored him using both dark and light Highland Heather Blends Pens. I used the dark Daffodil Delight for the teeth, toenails and spots on the horns.  I colored the horns and eyes in using the light Granny Apple Green pen.  I die cut him out using the "Stitched Circles" die.  Then I die cut a scalloped circle using Basic Black card stock.  I taped those two circles together and I set the circles in place using Dimensionals. Be careful not to get the Dimensionals too close to the edges or they will stick out on the back side and stuff can get stuck to them and make the circle look awful.  Keep it clean.  You might want to just eye where the circle will go and add the Dimensionals to the wrapper front, that way you avoid any issues at all.

These are very fun and quick to make.  I think it's adorable!

Boo to You, Halloween Candy Gift Bag, Weekend Project, 2019 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog

I have not done a "Weekend Project" in a while.  There's around 250 or so of them on my blog.  Click here for the direct link to them. You can always convert most of them over to the current stamp sets.

I did the words on my computer. I Googled "Spiderweb words" and I found these at DaFont.  I thought it fit with the words I needed to type so I downloaded it. It was free!  I printed out the words on Pumpkin Pie card stock.

I cut my piece of card stock 3-1/8" x 5".  I folded it in half so it measured 3-1/8" x 2-1/2".

I filled a 3" x 4" plastic zip baggie with Hershey Kissed and some plastic spiders.  Most of the spiders ended up on the back of the bag.  UGH!!  I didn't notice it until I was all done.  UGH!  After filling the bag, I zipped it shut and stapled the header to it.  I usually staple so the bumps of the staple are on the front and the smooth flat part is on the back.  It doesn't always work out that I can do it that way but today's header was perfect for it.

I stamped the zombie from the "Boo to You" set using black Memento ink on Whisper White card stock. I colored him in using the following Blends Pens: Highland Heather, light and dark, Granny Apple Green, light and dark.  Smoky Slate, light and dark and light Balmy Blue.  I fussy cut him out and set him in place on the header using Dimensionals.  I made sure that the staple was covered by his legs/pants. I gave him a couple of colored googly eyes from the "Assorted Googly Eyes" pack.

I punched out two Basic Black bats using the "Every Season" punch pack.  I set the bats in place with pieces of Dimensionals.  And the treat bag was done.  I think it's cut and will be fun to give out.

Toil & Trouble, Cauldron Boil, Cauldron Framelits, Halloween Candy Bar Sleeve

It's a little difficult to see here but there's a big 4 oz. Ghirardelli candy bar in there.  It's for my hubby.  It's 100% cacao.  I shiver just thinking about it.  I'm not very fond of semi-sweet chocolate but 100%.  A Robitussin shiver comes over me just thinking about even a taste of it!! NO thanks!!!  LOL

I took the frogs sheet from the "Toil & Trouble" Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I just set the candy bar on top of the DSP and folded the paper around it. I ran my fingers across the edges to form the fold lines.  Then I removed the candy bar and actually folded those lines nice and crisp!

Then the decorating.  I die cut the spider web, the witch, cat and cauldron.  I had die cut the web using double sided sticky sheet so it could be a sticker.  I set that in place behind the witch.

The words are from the "Cauldron Boil" and were stamped using black Memento ink on Whisper White card stock. I punched them out using a 1" circle punch.  I taped it directly to the Crushed Curry layer.  Oh, behind that Crushed Curry piece is a layer of Basic Black card stock.

I set the witch, cat and cauldron in place using Dimensionals.  And that was it.  Now I'm off to deliver it to the hubby so he leaves the candy alone that's meant for the Trick or Treaters!  He's the worst!

This is a fun way to dress up a candy bar.  I plan on doing something like this for Christmas too.  Now if it were me, I wouldn't need another candy bar.  There would be plenty of this one left over for years to come!!! LOL

Matchbook Candy Holder, Flower Shop, Petal Palette, Weekend Project

I have not made a matchbook candy holder in a while.  These are very fun and super quick to make.  Well, depending on how much you embellish the front!!  But the holder itself is super quick to make.

For mine I took a piece of Powder Pink card stock cut 5-1/4" x 2-1/8".  You will need to score it at 2", 4-1/4" and 4-3/4".  Fold the 1/4" scored piece and fold the next score.  You are folding these two scored lines over each other. See the photo below.  You will be slipping your Lifesaver under the folded scored parts and stapling it in place. I like to use the tiny stampers because you have to really work that candy to the other end to get the regular sized ones to not crush your candy.  Once the candy is stapled in place you are ready to decorate the front any way you'd like.

For mine I used the soon to be retiring "Flower Shop" set. I stamped my flower using Rose Red ink on Rose Red card stock.  I punched the flower out.  I also punched out a leaf using Garden Green card stock.  I took my stylus and curled the leaves of the flower.  Then I took the 3/4" circle punch and punched out a Crushed Curry circle for the center of the flower. I set the flower center in place using a glue dot.  I set the flower in place using a Dimensional. I stuck the leaf to the Dimensionals before I stuck the piece in place.

I stamped the "thank you" from the "Petal Palette" set using black Memento ink.  I punched it out using the "Classic Label" punch.  I set it in place using glue dots.  Dimensionals just didn't seem to work well there.  And that was it.  Ready for gift giving.  I am thinking of making some of these with a Christmas theme this year for the mail carrier, cashiers I encounter, bank tellers, etc.  It's always fun to brighten up someone's day with something so simple as this.

These make a great customer and hostess appreciation gift, teacher's gifts, rewards in excellence gifts, Easter, Get Well, Halloween, almost any occasion you can think of! I made a Christmas holiday one, you can see it by clicking here.

Cookie-Cutter Halloween Fall Treat Bag Tutorial

Today while surfing the net (instead of cleaning my workroom), I found a fun tutorial on how to make this cute little treat bag using 6" x 6" paper.  I LOVE those paper stacks and always have paper left.  What a great way to use them up.  I found the bags here at "Stamp With Peg".   I thought they were so cute and after reading the instructions, I saw how easy they were to make. So I had to get out a piece of paper and give it a try.  I cut a full sheet of decorative paper from the "Halloween Nights" Specialty paper pack.

I scored my paper at 1", 2-7/8", 3-7/8" and 5-3/4".  You turn the paper clockwise and score at 1" and 5-1/2".  My measurements are different that what are on Stamp with Peg's post.  I tried her measurements and my box wasn't square.

Fold all score line using a bone folder.  The top score folds down to there is a contrasting edge.  You can fold it inside but it looks better folded down in front.

You do need to clip the bottom scores up to the 1" mark. The instructions tell you to tape the seams.  I prefer to glue them. It doesn't take long for the glue to set up. Use your bone folder to press the glue into the paper and let it set for a minute and it's ready to go.  I glued the side seam first and then the bottom flaps.  And that was it.  Decorate as desired!!!  It was SO much fun.

I used the "Cookie Cutter Halloween" set to decorate the front of my bag.  I was going to use a Halloween character but I opted for the scarecrow.  I can set it out now and leave it until after Thanksgiving (just before the tree goes up!).

I didn't have any current ribbon so I used the "Bow Builder" punch.  I thought it looked adorable on the bag.  So darn cute, huh?

I colored the scarecrow in using markers.  I taped him to a scalloped oval and I set that in place on the bag using Dimensionals.

I had a lot of fun making the bag and decorating it was even more fun!!

Cookie Cutter Halloween Candy Treat

Next time you're at the grocery store, pick up a package of Nestle Crunch Fun-Size bars.  The bar (wrapper) measures 1" wide x 3-3/4" long. The candy bar inside is smaller than these measurements.

I took a bar out of the bag and wrapped a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock around it to form a belly band.  My scrap piece measured 3/4" wide x 3" long.  I glued the bad together.  I didn't think tape would hold well enough. 3" long was a little short, 3-1/2" to 3-3/4" would be much better.  I glued it in the front of the candy bar so the back is just one smooth piece of card stock.  The image is going to hide the seams.

Next I stamped the cute little mummy.  He didn't have a lot of color to him so I added a red bow tie. Mummies are always less scary when they wear a bow tie, right?  LOL

I set the mummy in place using a few Dimensionals.  And that was it.  Just TOO darn cute!!

If you are making these for your customers or students, the mummy and the skeleton are the quickest ones to stamp, punch, and set in place!!

I want to try it with the scare crow for a fall edible table decoration.  And I'm sure I will be adding more color to that one!!

Cookie Cutter Christmas, Gingerbread Boy, Candy Band

I don't know what I was thinking when I was working on this little gift.  I wanted to make a Halloween gift.  I guess I just saw the finished gingerbread boy image and ran with it.  I do like how it turned out but it wasn't what I wanted.

Anyway, to make this you only need a few things.  I took 5 pieces of pre-wrapped licorice and "tied" them together with some "Candy Cane" Washi tape.  Then I added the decorate paper label.  I set the gingerbread boy in place using Dimensionals.

These are super easy to make and they're so cute.  I bet they'd look great with a Halloween theme!!! LOL

September 2016 Paper Pumpkin Kit

September's Paper Pumpkin kit was SO much fun.  I LOVED the idea of using the test tubes and decorating them. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them but I'm sure I will find 16 people to give them to!! Filled with candy of course!!!

The kit came with some twine you tie in a bow at the top. There is striped strips that you stick on the tube.  Then you stamp the elongated hexagons.  Some of them have a design at the top and some are blank.  You set them in place with glue dots and that's it.  Well, you should fill them with something fun and yummy!!!

There's lots of pieces left over to stamp on and make card elements with.  I have a couple more cards I'll be showing you soon.

A Sparkly Season Halloween Candy Bar Holder Weekend Project

Today I thought I would work on an easy Halloween project.  I have not shared a project with you in a while and it's about time!!! This is a fun candy bar holder.  It holds the 1.55 oz. Hershey bar. It forms a nice pocket for the candy bar to slip into and the top folds over.  Slide on the belly band and it's ready to go!  I LOVE making these holders.

These are very easy to make.  The bottom photo shows how the base of the holder looks before it's folded and assembled.  You can find the complete instructions for this fun holder at Score Pal. This is a direct link so you won't have to be searching all over their site for the instructions.  (I hate that!!!).

First I cut my card stock and then scored it as the instructions stated.  Then I found the decorative papers that I wanted to use and began covering my holder.  Since I didn't order any Halloween papers, I had to make do with what I had. Fortunately I have the large 12" x 12" pads of decorative paper.  The holder is Mossy Meadow and the decorative paper is Old Olive.  I did have Mossy Meadow but I thought it got lost on the background so I went with the Old Olive.  Once I add my decorative papers, I then fold and glue (yes, glue) my holder together.  You can tape it but the tape doesn't seem to hold up as well as gluing does. It doesn't take that long for the glue to set up either, especially if you use a bone folder to press it down.

To make an easy belly band, I just take a strip of card stock and wrap it around the holder.  Then I remove it and use my bone folder to make those fold lines crisp.  I also glue the belly band together.  Then I slide it on the holder and here I added the pumpkin.

The pumpkin was made using Pumpkin Pie decorative paper on two layers of Pumpkin Pie card stock.  The circles are 2-1/4".  I also glued them together and set something heavy on them to keep them flat while they dried.  I did stamp the pumpkin before it was cut out.  I set it in place on the belly band using Dimensionals.  See, I told you it was easy!!!

Frankenstein Fry Box Candy Holder Weekend Project

After seeing a cute Frankenstein fry box on "Stamp & Scrap with Frenchie" I thought I would try one.  I did not invest in the Stampin' Up! fry box die because I already had one.  I just couldn't justify spending the money on another one.  I have not used mine in while.  Another reason not to buy another one!!  Mine is shaped a little bit different than the Stampin' Up! one but you can make it work.

I used Old Olive card stock to make the fry box.  I used a 1" circle punch for the eyeball and a 1/2" circle punch for the center.  I took the Real Red marker and drew in the bloodshot lines.  I then added the black centers.  The eyelid is a 1" circle punched from Old Olive and cut in half.  I sponged the edges of the Old Olive on the eyes after I assembled them.

The nose is a 1-1/4" circle of Old Olive and I sponged the edges before assembling the face.  Glue down the nose first, then the eyes.  That way you can tell where to put the mouth and the scar.  I did not add the bolts sticking out. They would just get bent or hung up on something.  I added a 1/2" silver circle to each side of the box.

Fill it with candy and give it to your favorite someone!!! I'm not sure who I am going to give this one too.

These are very easy and fun to make.  I would say, from start to finish, that I had this complete in under 20 minutes!

Little Letters Thinlits Book of Spells Halloween Weekend Project

Today I finished up a project I had started last week.  I worked on it a little at a time because I was too busy with other things that I couldn't devote all of my time to working on it.  It's a very simple project to do too.

First I went to the Dollar Tree and picked up a hard covered book.  They had their Halloween stuff out and I found a package mixture of "things".  Spiders, bats, skulls, and skeletons.  I did have to use my heat tool on them to get them to lay a little flatter, mostly the spiders.  But don't get them too hot and flatten them, they will lose a lot of their detail.  Fortunately there's a lot of pieces in that bag for a dollar that I was able to practice on a few to get the right touch.  For the spiders, once you see the legs start to shorten, stop and put something heavy on top of it.  The book you're going to use will do nicely!!!

Next I did my lettering.  I cut out lots of letters to spell out the word "spells."  I glued 3 letters together to make them a little thicker so they would stand out nicely on the book.

Once I had everything glued in place on the front I did the spine. I took some black card stock and cut strips and glued 3 of them together too.  I wanted to make those fun lines on the top and bottom of the spine to make it look like it was a really old book.  I trimmed them to the thickness of the spine.  When gluing those strips and the letters in place, you want to bend them a little bit so they lay over the spine.  The spine is not completely flat.

Then I laid the book face up and began the fun.  I put a piece of tissue paper over the book and made a mixture of white school glue (any white glue will work), black paint and some water and I covered the front with it.  The tissue paper would get air pockets but when I tried to push them out with the paint brush the tissue would tear a little, which was okay, it made the book look even older.  Plus I knew I was going to be adding one more layer of tissue paper to it anyway.  After the 2nd layer looked fairly dry I squeezed a sizable amount of black paint on the front and covered it.  I repeated this for the spine and the back.  The back was easy because it was flat but I did make sure that the tissue paper didn't lay perfectly flat on it. I wanted some wrinkles and tears.

After the paint dried I took my book out in the garage and sprayed a layer of clear acrylic spray over the front and added some black ultra fine glitter to it.  I found my glitter at Michael's, it's by Martha Stewart.  I let the spray dry and my book is now ready for Halloween!!!

Those little letters were perfect for this project!!!

Envelope Punch Board Halloween Candy Holder Weekend Project

Today I wanted to make hubby a candy holder for Halloween.  I used the new Envelope Punch Board to do this.  I made a candy bar holder earlier this month, you can view that by clicking here.  You will want to refer to that post for making the top tabs.

For the base of this holder I cut my Basic Black card stock 9" x 6-3/4".  I scored the piece at 3-7/8" and 5".  I made the tabs and then I decorated it with stuff I had sitting around here.  I was going to go with stamping but I thought I would use up some of the things I had in my stash.

I don't know where the pumpkin paper came from, it was in my container of papers.  I loved the colors and the cute pumpkins and it had a brightness to it that drew me to it so I thought I would go with it!  I used Lucky Limeade for the layer behind the pumpkin paper.  I taped the layers on top of the front of the candy holder.

For the inside band I took a 1-1/4" piece of Basic Black card stock that was cut 11" long.  I eyed the center of it and wrapped it around the box of candy.  Then I used my bone folder to make sharp creases.  I glued the strip to the inside.  Then I added some fun Washi tape I had to the strip.

The front decorative paper measured 6" x 2-5/8" and the layer behind it measures 6-1/4" x 2-7/8".  You could use the same size layers and add it to the inside of the box on top of the strip.  The strip is a must do though or the candy box will fall out. I suppose you could use glue dots to hold the candy box in place but then it will rip the paper or the box or both when you remove the candy.  I like using the bands.  The candy stays in place unless you turn the holder upside down!

One of the sticker packs I found had some fun monsters in it so I added one to the front of the candy holder and some to the front and back tabs.  I did set the monster on top of a 2-1/4" Basic Black scalloped circle and I set it in place on the front using Dimensionals.  The "Eek!" is also from a sticker pack.  I had fun playing with some of the things I have had laying around in my workroom for a long time.  It's time to start using these things up. You can easily convert this to all Stampin' Up! products and make some fun Halloween candy gifts.  This pack of candy is a 3.4 oz box.  Hubby is going to LOVE it!!!  I won't even have to hide it.  I will set it on the counter in my workroom and he will never even know it's there!

I have great plans for making some of these for Christmas in a few weeks.  Once October is over I will be posting some fun Christmas things but not until then!

Halloween Hello Candy Gifts Weekend Project

Today I was playing with some small clear boxes I had gotten w while back at ClearBags.com.  It's a fun online place to shop!

These boxes are not very big at all, as you can tell by the candy corns inside.  They measure 1" x 1" x 3".  I filled them with candy corns and then I just added a little Halloween Washi tape to the top of each box.

A had stamped the candy corns from the "Halloween Hello" set and I colored them in with markers.  I punched it out using the 1-1/4" circle punch.  Then I punched out 1-3/8" Pumpkin Pie circles.  And then I punched out black scalloped circles.  I assembled the layers and set them on top of the Washi tape using Glue Dots.  I needed something that would stick well to the tape.  And that was it.  So quick and easy to do!  These are for my coworkers.  I'm going to bring them into work this week to make sure everyone gets them before Halloween.

The Best of Halloween and Halloween Hello Candy Bar Wrapper Weekend Project

Just a little more Halloween before I move on to the remaining holidays.  I just couldn't help myself here.  I was at the grocery store and saw this cute candy bar that looked like money so I thought I would have a little fun on my computer today.  I have not played with my Print Artist (PA) program in a while so I thought it was time.  I suppose this could be done on any graphic program but I'm parcel to PA because I've been using it for over 20 years.  I think my first one was PA 2.5 and I believe they are at 24!  I've stuck with the changes.  I miss a few of the features of the earlier ones but I've managed to grow along with the program as it evolved.  Okay, enough about that.  Let's talk about this fun candy bar wrapper that you can download for free to make your own.  You have to stamp on them yourself of course!!

The images I used here came from the "Best of Halloween" and "Halloween Hello"  I stamped the images using black StazOn.  I colored in the candies using the Pumpkin Pie marker and the moon and windows of the house were colored in using the Daffodil Delight marker.  And that was it.  SO simple and SO quick that you can make a bunch of them in no time.  They're great for classmates, coworkers and even those little trick or treater's that come to your door.

The wrapper prints out with cutting instructions to help you save as much of the remaining card stock as possible.  You can't get two off one sheet but you could try it using 12" card stock.  I am not sure on that but I do know the piece is cut at 6" on the one length.  You may want to experiment first before you use your 12" x 12" card stock.

You can find the free template here.

Have fun making these and thank you ever SO much for stopping by today,

Halloween Hello Tic Tac Holder Weekend Project

I thought I would play with the new Envelop Maker again.  I am SO into those file folder cards.  I thought it would be fun to make a Tic Tac folder holder!

It's a lot easier to make than it looks.

First you need a piece of Basic Black card stock that measures 7-5/8" x 2-1/2".  Insert the short end into the cutter part of the envelope maker.  On my envelope maker I took a permanent marker and made a line right down the center of the cutter opening.  This way I know where center is each time I need to make a file folder card.  So once I got the left side cut I just slid the piece over and lined it up on my marker line and punched out the other side.  I flipped the strip around and did the same for the other end.

Next I folded the piece in half.  I set the Tic Tacs inside the holder and folded the front piece up over the Tic Tacs.  Then I used my bone folder to make nice sharp creases.  Scoring lines are measured at 3-3/4" and 4-3/8" if you need measurements!

Next I cut my decorative paper piece, it measures 2-1/4" x 2-7/8".  Then I used the Envelope Maker on the corners like I did for the Basic Black piece.  Once punched I taped it in place.

I stamped the witch from the "Halloween Hello" set.  I punched her out using the 1-1/4" circle punch, then the Pumpkin Pie piece using the 1-3/8" circle punch and then the scallop circle punch.  I taped them together and set them on the front of the piece using Dimensionals.

On the inside I just took a scrap piece of Basic Black card stock to make a band for the Tic Tac case to sit.  I don't have any measurements as it was a piece of scrap.  I set my scrap strip on top of the Tic Tac container and centered it.  You do need a piece long enough to wrap around the sides and to the back. It only needs to go about a 1/2" around the back.  That is the part of the strip you will be gluing to the inside of the holder.  Once I got my strip wrapped around the container I removed it and used my bone folder to get some nice crisp folds.  Then I set it back on the container.  I added glue to the back of the strip on each side and set the container inside the holder.  Make sure the container bottom is at the bottom of the holder.  Hold in the sides of the strip so it's tight against the container and press down onto the inside of the holder.  I closed the front part and set a punch on top of it for weight to hold it down while the glue set.

Next I used the Modern Label punch and punched out a Pumpkin Pie piece.  The "Happy Halloween" came from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.  I stamped it using black StazOn and punched it out with the "Word Window" punch.  I taped it to the Pumpkin Pie piece and I taped that in place on the tab of the holder.

After I got this all posted I thought the witch could use a little color so I put a moon behind her by punching a circle from card stock, using that as my template I then sponged on Daffodil Delight.  And on the inside strip around the Tic Tacs I used some Washi tape to dress that up as well.  I seem to see these things after I've gotten the photos taken and the post almost all done!!

This was a fun little project and I can't wait to try it with my Christmas stamps next month.  I'm not going to post anything Christmas this month at all.  The season arrives fast enough as it is.  I have a few more Halloween things to post and some fall stuff.  I have plenty to keep me going so I won't be posting Christmas this month.

Have fun making these!

Halloween Hello Candy Holder Card Weekend Project

Ok, first of all the top photo doesn't do the card justice.  I couldn't get the think to stay shut so you could see the "Trick or Treat" words that are on the inside.  They lined up just along the edge of the front. But you can imagine it, right?

The inside has a little pocket to hold a Hershey bar.
I added some Washi tape to it and I stamped and cut out 3 skulls from the "Halloween Hello" set.

The front of the card has the owl in the tree from the "Best of Halloween" set.  I punched out a 1" circle and sponged in some Daffodil Delight to make a moon.

The measurements for this card are as follows:
Cut your card stock 6" wide x 7-3/4" long.
On the long side score the piece at 3-1/4" and 3-1/2"
Cut your decorative paper 6" x 3-9/16".

Tape the decorative paper in place then follow the instructions found here for cutting the tabs.
The Pumpkin Pie piece is cut 6-1/2" x 1-5/8".  Score at 1/4", 1/2", 6" and 6-1/4".  Decorate before adding to the inside of the card.

To add the strip to the inside of the card just glue the end scored piece to the inside of the card.  Make sure you line up the bottom edge with the second score mark on the card.  Repeat for the other side.  With this piece right at the score line on the card the candy bar won't fall out.

Tape the little ends of the candy bar to the back of the bar.  You don't want them sticking out.  The candy bar looks better in the pocket with those ends taped back.

Decorate it as you please!  It's a lot of fun and SO cute!

Just a little note here:  This card is a little longer than the regular handmade greeting cards but that's ok, you can use your new Envelope Maker and make a fabulous envelope for it yourself!!!
