4th of July Party Favor Weekend Project

Today's post is a quick one.  This is another version of the "Party Favor" technique.  This one was made by Nancy, one of the gals in Terri's Technique Tuesday group.  She used a full size candy bar to make her version of this technique.  Originally Hershey Nuggets are used.  Nancy designed the holder to fit the candy bar.  I like that idea.  It makes the technique even more versatile!!!

You can find the original post here. It includes a link to the instructions to make one of the favors that holds the Nuggets.

This is such a great 4th of July favor!  I love now Nancy used the stars across the ends.  She did a great job making it so Patriotic looking!!!

Work of Art Patriotic Card

In lieu of tomorrow being the 4th of July I thought I would make a patriotic card. I don't usually do cards like this, so that means that I had to go out on the net for some inspiration.  I found a card made by Melissa at "The Stamp Doc" and I ran with it.    I did change it a bit.  I added a star to the center of the blue field and I also added the "hello" at the bottom.  The "hello" is from the "Label Something" set.

I also used the Real Red and Night of Navy ink pads for my card.

My nephew is in the military and he now has an address where I can mail him.  SO I thought I would not only make the patriotic card but I would also make it a "hello" card to him.  Tomorrow afternoon I will take some time out to write to him and have it all ready for Saturday's mail.

This was such a quick card to make.  There is something about the looks of this card that I just love.  Perhaps that is why I had to copy it!  Right?  LOL

I will not be posting tomorrow.  I am going to take the 4th of July off to kick back and enjoy the day doing other things that I love to do and a few things that I have neglected.

I hope you all have a fun and a very safe 4th!

Thank you ever SO much for visiting today,

A Bright Blossoms Mother's Day Card

This card nearly did me in!! I was trying to make a card with out layering everything (like I normally do).  I just couldn't stand it so on the image piece I just had to add a layer behind it.  Now I wish I would have added a layer behind the other two pieces.  So all we can do is imagine them being there!! LOL

I used the "Bright Blossoms" set and the "Summer Smooches" decorative papers to make this card.  And the words are from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.

I stamped the vase using Old Olive and I just glued the flowers on using Crystal Glaze.  That pretty layered piece was set on the card using Dimensionals.

I may give this layout another try but I will definitely be layering the pieces when I do!!! LOL

Stop back tomorrow, I have a fun little project to share with you!

A Patriotic Card

I have never made a Red White and Blue card for the 4th of July or for any other occasion.  So that meant that I needed to go to the Internet for some samples!  Something I don't ever mind doing!  I LOVE going on the Internet.

Now I'm going to fill you in on a bit of information first because what I will say later is going to make me sound VERY old.  My dad was the youngest of 10 children.  So that meant that he was an uncle before he was even born.  So with that said you can do the math. This card is for my cousin's grandson (my dad's niece).  I don't know what that makes him to me.  Something about cousins removed twice, three times, whatever.  I just know he's a grandson of my cousin.  I don't follow the family tree stuff much.  Too many nuts in that tree!!! LOL

OK, onto the card.  I found this card on Sharon's "Created by You" website.  She has some fun cards on there and I check in on her site often!

This was just the card I needed to make for the open house that is tomorrow!  Nothing like waiting until the last minute to get the cards you need done, huh?  And this was one I couldn't send out later.  I HAD to make it and have it ready for the open house!  So here it is.  It's a very easy card to make.  I punched the stars out of glitter paper.  Actually I used glitter wrapping paper that I had gotten at Michael's.  It's not as thick as the card stock glitter paper so it was very easy to punch and I knew it wouldn't ruin my punch!  I also bought a roll in red.  I cut strips of red and set them in place over the white card.  I added the angled pieces and then the stars on top of that and set them in place with some tape and brads.  Then I taped that strip in place.  I stamped the words and assembled the card.  Oh, before I set the top layer on I did cover the bottom strips with Crystal Effects and covered it in the clear/white glitter.  Once that set up then I put the card together.

I think it's a perfect card to give to a guy, especially one who is going into the Marines.  The party for him will be fun and we will be sending him off with wishes of a safe time in the service.

Happy 4th of July!

Here's another fun and fast 4th of July card. I was having a lot of fun with the stars!!! It's a pretty simple card to make too!!! The small "celebrate" words are from the Stampin' Up! "Fundamental Phrases" set. It was nice to have a small stamp that fit within the spaces I had since I had already glued in the stars. I had been gluing in the stars and having some of them hang over the edges so I could just clip them off. I wanted it to look a little more natural than staged. I didn't want all the stars confined in the white piece of card stock. After I got the stars on and of course the red strip on I thought the card needed something more. I used my die cut and cut out the number 4 for the 4th. I set it on the right side on the strip but it just looked out of place there. SO I decided to add a couple more stars instead. Then I looked through my stamps and saw I did have the "celebrate" word. I stamped it on trying not to hit the stars or the red scalloped piece. It was just what the card needed!!!

I hope you have a fun and safe 4th of July!

Celebrate the 4th of July!

Isn't this card just adorable? I saw it on Gretchen's Blog Inspiration in Action. I don't think I've ever made a 4th of July card before!!! There's a first time for everything, isn't there? And I wouldn't have made one this year either had I not been blog hopping and found this card. I just couldn't help myself. It was just too cute and it was actually pretty simple to make too!!! This would also be a great masculine birthday card too!!!

I just love the little background dots, it gives it the appearance of fire works! I made it using the Stampin' Up! "Itty Bitty Backgrounds" set and Brilliant Blue ink.

The card stock used here is Whisper White, Brilliant Blue and Real Red. To make the stars you use the small star punch first and then line up the larger one over the punched out one and get it centered. Then punch it out. I made two of those in red and two in blue. The centers that were first punched out were used around the larger stars. See, that is what helped to make it simple! The word was done using the "All About U" set. It's a retired set but I was glad I still had it, I didn't have any other set that had the word "celebrate" in it that was large enough to read without being up close!!!

Isn't it a fun card?? If you are heading out of town for the holiday weekend I hope you have a very fun and safe time!
