Wiggle Worm, Humorous Card, Get Well Card, 2019-2020 Stampin' Up! Catalog

Today I wanted to play with the "Wiggle Worm" set.  I wasn't going to get this set but I remembered I had a lot of fun many years ago with a different bug set that Stampin' Up! had so I decided to buy it.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic Black card stock.  On top of that I taped a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Pear Pizzazz Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the 6" x 6" Subtles pack.  You get 40 sheets in that pack and they last a very long time. I like it now that they are 6" x 6" instead of 12" x 12"  I rarely put a dent in those and they were so expensive. These are more affordable.

I cut a strip of Whisper White card stock that measured 1-3/4" x 5-1/4".  I textured it with the "Layered Leaves" embossing folder.  I taped it to a piece of Basic Black card stock that measured 1-7/8" x 5-1/4" and I taped those to the DSP.

I stamped the cute bug using black memento ink on a 2-1/8" x 2-1/8" square of Whisper White card stock.  I colored him in using the light Granny Apple Green Blender Pen.  Then I drew around the square body parts using the light Old Olive Blender Pen.

I colored the wings using both the light and dark Smoky Slate Blends Pens.  I colored the wings in with the light first and then went round the inside edges using the dark pen.  Click on the photo for a better view.

I colored the mouth in using the light Flirty Flamingo Blends Pen.

I colored the bottom part of the bug in using the dark Daffodil Delight Blends Pen.  I stamped the "highlights" around the bug bottom using Daffodil Delight ink.

After the coloring, I cut a 2-1/4" x 2-1/4" piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock and a 2-3/8" x 2-3/8" piece of Basic Black card stock and I taped those layers together.

The words were done on the computer. The font I used was "Curlz MT".  I don't know if I had added it to my computer or if it came with it.  I just liked the way it looked and ran with it. It's size 12 and I did bold it.  I cut the words out and it measured 2-3/4" x 1-1/2".  I cut a 2-7/8" x 1-5/8" piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock and a 3" x 1-3/4" piece of Basic Black card stock.  I taped the layers together.  I taped the word layers in place on the card front and I set the bug image in place using Dimensionals.

And for the final touches, I put a little glue on the bug bottom and sprinkled on some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to give it a bit more glow! And I added some Wink of Stella to the wings.

I think this card was very fun to make. It makes me smile to look at it.  I love the poem.  I found it on the internet many years ago.  I tried to find the author but from what I have seen, it's anonymous but thought to be a British author because of the word "bum".  I just love it and I thought it fit well with this image.

Thank you ever SO much for stopping by today,

Sharing Something Silly!!

The other day I had been shopping for something for my poor splitting fingernails. I saw the French manicure polish and thought I would give it a try. And believe me I did give it a try. Many tires!!! I just couldn't get those tapes to stick well enough to not let the white polish bleed under it. SO after I went through almost all of the tapes I was desperate. I gave it some thought and decided I was not going to go to the store and buy a package of the tapes for $5.00. I thought that there has to be something around here I can use.

White mailing labels came to mind. SO I got out my Stampin' Up! punches and found one that had the right arch to it. It was the 1-1/4" one. I punched out a few strips with it and applied it to my nails. OMG, it worked SO much better than the store ones. I was worried that it wouldn't come off the nail without leaving residue behind but they came off cleanly!!! I was thrilled. Do you know how many nails one sheet of address labels will do??? Over 50 depending on how thick you punch them. I made mine a bit thicker (wider) than the original ones. That way I could slap on the white polish and not be so restricted to space as with the store ones. Now don't look at my cuticles. It's my nails that I need to tend to right now, the cuticles will come later when the nails are repaired and healthy! Oh and I found a cute sticky flower for the nail. I had it in a drawer that I was going to use someday on my nails. Well, someday came!!! LOL They almost look natural!!! I had plenty of practice with those strips!!! LOL

SO, now you know what I do with my spare time!!! LOL

Just another use for the Stampin' Up! punches!!!

Have a great day and be resourceful!!

CSI MN

Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) comes to Minnesota!!!

On Friday the weather in our area turned a bit warmer. The snow on the ground that had come down (every time it snowed) as that fluffy dry stuff became wet and sticky. It was SNOWMAN snow!!! I checked the thermometer and was SO excited. I immediately got dressed and gathered the things I needed to go outside. I had to make sure my camera was inside but nearby. I didn’t want to have to take my boots off just to walk around in the house to get the camera or anything else I might have needed. I was SO prepared I had even brought out a bottle of water with me because making a snowman can be such hard work at times!!!

Now I warn you some of these pictures are graphic and you may want to remove any little children from the room!!!!

Are they gone? Here is Frosty before the box of clothing was put on him!!!

Once he was all dressed up I took more photos. I have made and taken snowman photos for years and I’m going to do a scrapbook page on it in 2009 when I begin my scrapbook paging adventure!

Then tragedy struck. I looked out on Saturday morning to see Mr. Frosty and much to my surprise he was not standing. There he lay face up on the cold ground. A smile still on his white face. I carefully checked the area for suspicious footprints but there were none to be found. Just the ones that were there when he was constructed. Suspicious indeed!!! Nothing was missing, he still had on his hat and his scarf. I tried to reconstruct the scene. A snowman standing on the ground just minding his own businesses one day and laying on the ground the next. How could this be?

It was extremely difficult to know how long he had been laying there. Rigor Mortise had already set in or could it be that the weather had changed once again so the snow was too hard to move? Possibly! Without more facts it’s just too difficult to tell!!!!

There was a mist and rain that evening before the weather turned colder. He was leaning backwards a bit that evening. And there was cloud cover along with fog. The poor guy just couldn’t handle the mist and rain that was coming down and just fell over! It was so sad to see him laying there.

This was my first snowman of the season. I’m hoping to make more. Isn’t his hat fabulous??? My friend Sheila made it for me. She sells them and is probably making one as I am typing this!!! She’s SO talented!! I always share my mittens with Frosty for the photo shoot. I can hardly take photos with mittens on and they do look so cute on him!!! And the best part this year was the eyes, mouth and buttons I had made. I had cut a closet dowel rod into 1" pieces. Then I drilled a hole in the back to hold a smaller dowel. I painted the larger pieces black with acrylic paints. I started to spray paint them but the paint soaked in on some areas and was shiny on others so I went to plan B and just painted them with acrylic paints and a paint brush. My first thought with those was to get some Tinker Toys but I didn’t want to spend what places were asking for them. I am going to put the word out to a few friends who garage sale and see if they can find me some for next winter. I thought it would be easy to paint the round piece and put a dowel in it and just push it in place on the snowman. I did achieve that with the dowels I cut and painted but the Tinker Toys would have been so much easier. SO I’m hoping that someone will be selling their set with pieces missing at a reasonable price!!! Then I can make more snowmen!!! I still have two more carrot nose things in the box. I got them at JoAnn’s after Easter, they were on the end of a jump rope!!! Perfect for snowmen!!!

SO this is my fun and yet sad story for today. You can bring the kids back in the room now!!! LOL

Thanks SO much for indulging me!

Here's the website to the Newspaper Generator. I think these would be fun for milestone birthdays, baby announcements, fake lottery winners, etc. There's no end to the fun you could have with this! Be sure to read their rules and have fun!
