Cute as a Bug, Friendly Foliage, Get Well Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a get well card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Cute As A Bug" 12" x 12" package. I taped it to the front of the card.

The dandelions image is from the same package of DSP. It came from a sheet filled with many images. I thought this one looked like a get well feel to it.  It was trimmed to measure 3" x 4".  I cut a 3-1/4" x 4-1/4" piece of Mossy Meadow card stock and taped the piece of DSP to it. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the front of the card.

The words are from the "Friendly Foliage" bundle and were stamped using Mossy Meadow ink on Basic White card stock. I fussy cut them out. I added pieces of Dimensionals to the back and set the piece in place. I had originally cut the words in a rectangle shape but it took away from the grass and end of the dandelion stems. So fussy cutting was the only way to go and I'm glad I did. Placing the pieces of Dimensionals was a bit tricky but I managed to get them thin enough yet wide enough to work.

For a final touch I added the ladybug and clear dots from the "Ladybug Garden" epoxy shapes.  And that was it.

This was a quick and easy card to make. I just love the look of the dandelions.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's get well card,

Petals of Beauty, Brushed With Beauty, Simply Said, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have another card with LOTS of layers! I had found this layout earlier this month but can't find the link to it. Please read on to see how I made this card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on left.

Cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Beautiful Pattern" embossing folder on Basic White card stock. I glue it to the front of the card.

Next I cut a 3" x 4-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock. On top of that is a 2-3/4" x 4" piece of Basic White that was textured using the "Exposed Brick" embossing folder.  I glued it to the '3" x 4-1/4" piece of card stock.

Next I cut the strips of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Brushed With Beauty" 12" x 12" package. I cut the long strip at 3/4" wide x 4" and the smaller one (which is the backside of the first image) was cut at 3/4" x 2-3/4".

I stamped the "hello" from the "Simply Said" set using Mossy Meadow ink. I cut it out using the 4th largest circle die in the "Stylish Shapes" set.

The flower was stamped from an image from "Petals of Beauty" bundle using Calypso Coral ink. I though it matched the flowers in the upper part of the DSP strip.  I cut the flower out using a matching die in the bundle.

I taped the long strip down first, centering it as much as possible by eyeing it. Then I glued the circle in place. The green strip was glued on next.

Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the front of the card.

The flower was set in place using Dimensionals and the card was done.

I love this layout and I do plan to use it again in the future.  I made my copier paper sample of this card (and I pencil in the date so I can refer to it if needed). I have a huge stack of copier paper card samples. I like to have them in 3D so I can visualize it better.

This was a very fun card to make and I can't wait to play with it again. Maybe tomorrow!  There's SO may things you can do with this layout.

Update on the beanie!  Here it is, flaws and all. I'll be selling it as "slightly irregular".  Every time I hear those two words I think of the store "Hurrah" from years ago that had a fun jingle, "It's slightly irregular, you hardly see or car...."  I just dated myself, didn't I?  LOL

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's friendship card,

Lovely & Beautiful, Fabulous Sayings, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a super quick and simple card to share with you. I got this idea from Lynette's "My Stamping Addiction" blog. She has a lot of fun cards on your blog, so if you have time, take a look.  You can see her card by clicking here. I like the lettering she used, it looks like a fun stamp.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. Once cut in half it measures 4-1/4" x 11".  It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

The Designer Series Paper (DSP) I used is from the "Lovely & Beautiful" 12" x 12" package. I first cut it at 4-1/4" x 2-1/2" but I thought it was too long so I trimmed it to 2". I taped that to the top part of the card.

I cut a 1/8" strip of Old Olive card stock and glued it to the edge of the DSP.

The words are from the "Fabulous Sayings" set and were stamped using Old Olive ink. I had stamped over them a couple of times (using my stamp aligner) and the ink got a bit dark but it's okay it still looks fine.

This was actually by second attempt at this card. I had set up the words in my stamp aligner and I forget to get the ink pad. So I got the ink pad and then set my card back in the aligner. I didn't pay attention that I had the words aligned for them to be at the center area of the piece so when I stamped they were too low. I was going to just leave it but decided to make another one since the stamp was still in the aligner. As for the one I did wrong, I took that scrap of DSP that I trimmed off and taped it under the Old Olive strip and the words were back to being snug up against the DSP and now I have two cards!  Fun how you can fix a mistake so simply and have it work out!

Update on the beanie. I did end up finishing the ends and when I'm done here I'm going to make the removable pom pom for the top and then it's ready for it's debut! So stop back tomorrow to see it. I do plan on making another one since I learned SO much on what not to do! LOL

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,

Love Notes, Endless Love, Valentine's Day Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a Valentine's Day card to share with you. I was going to work on one this weekend but with the weather being a bit more doable tomorrow I thought I'd make a Valentine's Day card tonight so I can bring it to my mom tomorrow when we go visit her. She's in a nursing home and I heard it takes 2 weeks for the residents to get their mail. I don't know if it's true but I thought I'd just bring her card tomorrow when I see her. Please read on to see how the card was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Cherry Cobbler card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top. I cut a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece from the "Love Notes" 6" x 6" stack. On the back of those hearts is the purple piece that you see on top of the hearts. That piece measures 2-7/8" x 5-1/4".

The strips were cut next. I thought the heart flowers were so cute so I cut 4 of them that measure 1" x 2-1/2" each. The Garden Green layer behind them measures 1-1/4" x 2-3/4".  I taped the pieces together and then taped them to the purple piece. Then that was taped to the hearts piece.

The Cherry Cobbler hearts were cut from the "Endless Love" die set.  Not thinking, I should have used a double sided sticky sheet before cutting them out. It would have made it much easier to set them in place. I had to use glue but it still got the job done, just a bit messier!

The "BE MY VALENTINE" sentiment piece is from the same "Love Notes" pack. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the bottom area of the card.

I used some of those cute hearts from the "Loose Valentine's" assortment container. They were glued in place to add a little more "bling" to the card. I liked the white ones because they just popped out on the green background.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and taped it to the inside of the card and the card was done.

Now to write in it and get it set by my purse do I don't forget to bring it tomorrow.

Update on the beanie. You guessed it. Another failure. Though I did keep knitting to the end and I've been debating whether to finish it and sell it as an irregular or rip it apart for the 9th time and try again!  Persistent or stubborn?  I'm not sure which it is. Maybe crazy?? LOL

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's Valentine's Day card,

Sweet Bugs, Cute as a Bug, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a friendship card to share with you.  Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Mossy Meadow card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White and taped it to the inside.

On the front I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Cute as a Bug" 12" x 12" package.  I taped it to the front of the card.

I cut a piece of Basic White card stock to measure 4-1/2" x 3-1/4" and textured it using the "Exposed Brick" embossing folder.

On top of the textured piece is a 4-1/4" x 3" piece of Mossy Meadow card stock and glued it to the Basic White piece.

I cut three strips of DSP from the same package. The two outside pieces measure 3/4" x 4" and the center strip is 1"" x 4". I taped them to the Mossy Meadow piece.

Next I cut a circle from Basic White card stock using the third largest circle in the "Stylish Shapes" set. I scrubbed on some Poppy Parade ink and set it aside.

Then I die cut the flowers and lady bug from the same package of DSP.

The words are from the "Sweet Bug" bundle and were stamped using Mossy Meadow ink.  Punched it out using the "Labeled With Love" punch. I also punched out a Mossy Meadow piece and I cut it in half. I taped each half to the back of the word piece. Dimensionals were added to the word piece, the ladybug and the flower piece. I set the lady bug and flower piece in place on the circle and I set the word piece in place under the circle using Dimensionals.

Dimensionals were added to the back of the exposed brick piece and it was set in place on the front of the card.

I added a little lady bug embellishment from the "Ladybug Garden" epoxy shapes packages and the card was done.

This was a very fun card to make. I love cards with lots of layers and this one sure does!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's friendship card,

Love Notes, Valentine's Day Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I think I only need two more Valentine's Day cards and I'm set. It's so nice not to have to rush to make a card before a deadline!  Hope the rest of the year continues on that great note! (crosses fingers).  Please read on to see how today's card was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut one of the images in the "Love Notes" 6" x 6" stack at 4" x 5-1/4". I taped that to the front of the card.

Actually, all of the pieces on this card are from the "Love Notes" stack. The "Be Mine" piece was trimmed to 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" and the purple layer behind it was cut at 2-3/4" x 2-3/4".

I trimmed the "Happy Valentine's Day" piece to measure 2-1/4" x 1".  I should have cut it at 2-3/8" instead because the "Y" is awfully close to the right edge. I taped that to another piece from the stack. It measured 2-1/2" x 1-1/4".

Dimensionals were added behind both of the layered pieces and they were set in place on the front of the card. The top piece is about 1/2" from the top and 3/4" from each side.  And the word piece was set in place about 1/2" from the bottom edge and about 7/8" from the fold and right side.

I added some hearts from the "Loose Valentine's" assortment container. It's got red, pink and white hearts, plus some little black bordered envelopes with a heart in the middle and some pieces that look like candy jimmies you'd see on cupcakes.  Lots of fun pieces in it for shaker cards. I may just have to make one, it's the only way to use up all of these pieces!

So that's it for this card. It was super quick and easy to make.

Now back to my beanie. Yup, you guessed it, it didn't turn out so I'm on attempt #8.  Persistent, huh?  LOL So, if I happen to get it right this time I will take a pic and share it with you tomorrow!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's Valentine's Day card,

Fabulous Sayings, Days Like This Memories & More, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Have I got a super quick and easy card for you to make. Please read on to see how to do it!

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Flirty Flamingo card stock.

The butterfly and flowers image is from the "Days Like This" memories & more card pack. It's got a lot of fun images to play with. This one was on top when I opened the package so I decide to see what I could do with it.

I stamped the "happy birthday" from the "Fabulous Sayings" set using black Memento ink. Then I taped it to the Flirty Flamingo layer.

Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the card base.

I added a couple of brass butterflies and the card was done.

I told you it was super quick and easy.

It has such a fun spring feel to it. I'm here in Minnesota and right now it's -5 but tomorrow it's supposed to be 14 above and then dipping down again. The weather here is such a tease.  I know spring will come but I'm really tired of this frigid bitter cold.  Not that I like to go outside, I'm an indoor person but when I have to go out I don't want to go out when it's this cold.  Okay, enough of my whining. I hope you are all safe and warm where you live.

Now I'm off to work on a beanie that I started 4 times already.  Actually 3 and a half. I started the 4th one and wasn't paying attention and the yarn ran out and the piece fell off my machine. UGH.  My next try will be a success, right?  I hope so. I'm SO determined to get it right.  When I finish it I will post a pic of it here for you! Hope that's tomorrow! LOL

Thank you SO much for stopping by to see today's birthday card,

Greenery Lane, Fabulous Sayings, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a friendship card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 5" x 3-3/4" piece of Garden Green card stock. Using the 3rd largest circle in the "Stylish Shapes" die set, I cut one from the center of the large layer before taping it to the front of the card.

Next I took a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and placed some of the new "Greenery Lane" washi tape on it.  I found it a bit difficult to get it off the roll and onto the paper so what I did was pulled out the length I needed plus a little more. Then I stuck the tape to my work surface. I lined up my card stock and slipped it under the washi tape, lining up the edge of the card stock with the edge of the tape. Then I cut the tape off the roll. I trimmed the card stock to measure 3-1/2" (which is the width of the washi tape) x 4-3/4". This was then taped to the Garden Green large layer.

Using the new "Lovely Stripes" embossing folder I textured a piece of Basic White card stock. Then I cut it to measure 3-1/2" x 1-3/8". The Garden Green layer behind it measures 3-3/4" x 1-5/8".  I taped the two layers together and then taped that to the front of the card about 5/8" from the top edge and 5/8" from the fold.

The "hello" is from the "Fabulous Sayings" set and was stamped using black Memento ink. I cut them out using the 4th largest circle in the "Stylish Shapes" set. I taped the two circles together and set them in place using Dimensionals.

I stamped 6 flowers from the "Greenery Lane" bundle using Garden Green ink. I stamped 3 using full ink and what ink was left on the flowers I stamped on another section of the Basic White card stock. I cut them out with the matching dies and set them in place with cut Dimensionals.

I added little pearls to each flower and the card was done.

This was a very fun, quick and easy card to make.

Beautiful Gallery, Reason to Celebrate, Anniversary Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have another card using the layout I did yesterday. I just knew I could do better. This time I did not tape the folds down and I liked it much better.

This post is going to be short because I'm going to have you click the link to yesterday's card for the instructions and the video link in that post so you can follow along on how to do it.  I highly recommend NOT taping down the folded areas. Just burnish them well and they'll stay down nicely.  The link I'm referring to is here

I do recommend you make the tick marks like I did. If you look really close at my card you'll see they are still there because I forgot to erase them.  Another thing I highly recommend is a kneadable eraser. They are also referred to as an art gum eraser. I've used them in art class when I was in high school in the last century! LOL. You can actually shape it, that's where "kneadable" comes into play. I even pull pea size pieces off and replace the eraser on my mechanical pencils with it. The magic of these erasers is it will remove the pencil marks and not ruin the paper. Go in one direction (even with regular erasers). I will not be without one! You can get them in the art departments of Michaels or Hobby Lobby. Perhaps on Amazon, I've never looked there for one but they have almost everything you can imagine.

For today's card I used the Designer Series Paper (DPS) from the "Beautiful Gallery" 6" x 6" stack. It's such a pretty image and it was the last sheet in the package (I have one more unopened pack!).

The words I used are from the "Reason to Celebrate" set and I stamped them using Secret Sea ink on Very Vanilla card stock. After cutting the words using the largest ribbon die in the "Stylish Shapes" set I sponged on a little bit of Secret Sea ink to tone down the brightness of the piece. It was set in place later with Dimenisonals.

The base of my card is also a folded half-sheet of Very Vanilla card stock.

My large layer is a piece of Secret Sea card stock.

I used white Baker's Twine for my string. I think I made the loops a bit too big but I can live with that. I was just thrilled that my paper folding was SO much better than yesterday, though this piece of DSP seemed a bit thicker and took a little longer to manipulate. And my centers are almost perfect (because I used tick marks).

For my "bling" I took some "Candy Dots" (retired) and colored them with a black Sharpie and I set them in place on the front of the card. I still have a lot more of those dots left. If they were real candy they would have been gone by now!  LOL They were/are fun to work with. I love that they are metal and they stick well to the card.

I think that about covers what I did for this card. This post wasn't as short as I thought it would be. I guess I rambled!

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's anniversary card,

Reason to Celebrate, Lovely & Beautiful, Anniversary Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a SO much better card to share with you than the horrible one I posted yesterday! I promise to never do that again! LOL That card haunted me all day and I felt I needed to find something fun to make to take my mind off it. So here's what I came up with. I got the layout from Cheryl at Paper Panacea. You can see her beautiful card by clicking here. She found a tutorial on how to make it at Frenchie Stamps

All you need is a 5-1/4" x 6" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP), a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of card stock for the large layer and a folded half-sheet of card stock. My DSP is from the "Lovely & Beautiful" 12" x 12" package.

For my card I used a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

My large layer is a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Fresh Freesia card stock. I taped it to the card base once I was done working the rest of the front.

I made this card front twice. I didn't like how it turned out the first time so the second time I made a few little tick marks to guide my folding.

I marked the center of my large layer at 2-1/16" at the top and I marked my larger piece of DSP at 1-1/4".  I taped the large piece to my Fresh Freesia piece.

After taping the smaller strips in place (taping only on the outer sides because you need to fold the insides), I marked the center at 2-5/8" and on the sides I marked them at 5/8" down (on all 4 sides). Now I was able to make my folds a little neater. My first one was so off that I would have had to have a 3" x 3" word piece to make it look fairly balanced. My piece is a hair off in the very center but the word piece covers it nicely. I like that the sides are looking equal all around at those tops.

I did tape my folds down but I do regret it. I think it would have looked nicer leaving them along.

After the folding was done, I stamped the words from the "Reason to Celebrate" set using Old Olive ink on Basic White card stock. I cut the words using the largest ribbon ends die in the "Stylish Shapes" set.

I took some linen thread and wrapped it around 3 slightly spread fingers 3 times. I took the ends and pinched them together with the other side of the circle that formed and set them in the center of the card. I stuck a large glue dot on top to hold the threads in place. I stretched out the glue dot a bit before I did that because it was a bit too high.

Dimensionals were added behind the word piece (not in the center where the glue dot is, it would end up being too high) and I set the piece in place on the front of the card.

I added 3 of the clear enamel dots from the "Ladybug Garden" package and the card was done.

This was a fun card to make (once I used measurements) and I can see myself making more with this layout. Perhaps for Valentine's Day or Easter and definitely Christmas!

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's anniversary card,
Wanda

Love Notes, Endless Love, Valentine's Day Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a card to share with you that I am calling the worst card I've ever made. It's SO blah and not what I had in my head at all. Sometimes what's in my head doesn't come out on paper. They all can't be winners, can they.  I'll share how I made it in hopes that you can improve on it!

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I trimmed the checkered bordered piece from the "Love Notes" 6" x 6" stack at 3-1/4" x 5" and I added a Poppy Parade layer that measures 3-1/2" x 5-1/4". I taped the two pieces together and taped it to the upper part of the card base about 1/4" from the sides and fold.

The "Happy Heart" is from the same stack and was trimmed at 1-3/4" x 3". I cut a Poppy Parade layer measuring 2" x 3-1/4". Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set aside.

Using the "XO" dies from the "Endless Love" die set I cut several sets out of Poppy Parade and Petal Pink card stock. I glued them to the checkered border piece.

Then the "Happy Heart Day" piece was set in place. I used the card stock hearts that came out of the centers of the "O's" in the "XO" and glued them to that piece. And that was it.

It's SO blah and not very colorful. I think it could use a Poppy Parade card base or some Basic Black card stock.  It needs something. Perhaps some sponging in that large white background area??? It needs some major help!

Well, I'm off to work on a knitted beanie. I'm going to give fair isle a try. Wish me luck. I'll show you when it's done. If it turns out. LOL I need to keep my hands busy, we are headed for the deep freeze here in MN. It snowed a bit today and now the temps are dropping.  If you live in the upper midwest, stay warm and be safe!

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's Valentine's Day card,

Endless Love, Reason to Celebrate, Cute as a Bug, Valentine's Day Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have another Valentine's Day card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Poppy Parade card stock. I cut two 4" x 5-1/4" pieces of Basic White card stock. I taped one to the inside and the other I textured using the "Hearts of Love" embossing folder.  It was a bit tricky to get that into my embossing machine. I ended up putting the folder in first and then slipping the card stock on at an angle. There isn't much room to move the piece around but I got it in enough so it embossed a corner of the piece.

Next I cut a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Cute as a Bug" 12" x 12" package. I didn't buy and Valentine's Day DSP but I forgot I have the 6" x 6" "Love Notes" stack. I didn't look in it because I forgot I had it.  Maybe on the next card! Anyway, I cut my strip at 4" x 1-3/8" and then I cut the Poppy Parade strip to measure 4" x 1-5/8".  I taped the two layers together and then taped them to the left side of the piece about 1/4" from the edge.

The words were stamped next. They are from the "Reason to Celebrate" set and I used Poppy Parade ink.

I the "Endless Love" die set there's a strip of 5 hearts so I die cut the piece at the bottom of the card. Then I die cut them from a scrap piece of Poppy Parade.

I taped the 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White to the front of the card. Then I glued the little Basic White hearts in place and then the Poppy Parade hearts were glued on top of them

I added some "Loose Valentine's" embellishments. They are SO cut and lots of fun pieces in that container. Once the were glued in place the card was done.

This was a fun card and it's so full of cute hearts, it screams "Valentine!".

Love Notes, Valentine's Day Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a Valentine's Day card to share with you.  I found it while surfing the net. You can see the original card by clicking here.   I need to make a few Valentine's Day cards. Two are for the granddaughters. I usually go to the dollar store and buy them but I am a card maker and I thought "why am I buying cards?" Well, I buy them because I wait too long and then I'm in a pinch for a card and not time to make it. So, with Valentine's Day a few weeks away I have plenty of time to make my cards.  I'm not sure what I'll put on the inside. At Christmas when I gave the girls their cards they were bragging to each other about what was pre-printed on the inside. One said that she's very special and the other was bragging that her card said she was loved a lot. Those two crack me up.  Those two are at the age where they fight and argue a lot, so to see them read their cards to each other like that warmed my heart.  I know they will grow out of that phase.  Kids!  Anyway, onto today's card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock.  I grabbed my 6" x 6" "Love Notes" package. It's full of fun images to play with. Another package that I will probably not use up. I have not looked at all of the images but I'm hoping I can make some wedding and/or anniversary cards with it too.

The striped piece was cut first. It measures 4-1/4" x 5-1/2". It was taped to the front of the card.

The hearts on top with the arrows came from a sheet with several other images on it as well as the bottom heart of hearts.

The piece of Basic Black card stock was cut at 3-1/4" x 4-7/8". I changed the measurement from what the original post suggested.  I taped the two images to the Basic Black piece and then took some Baker's Twine I had and wrapped it three times around and tied a knot and then a bow.  Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was centered on the front of the card.  And the card was done.

This was such a super quick and easy card to make. Now to think of what to put inside. Maybe I'll write the same thing in both cards and tell them not to tell each other what I wrote!  LOL. I may use AI to see if it can come up with something fun and cleaver.  I have time to do that! One down a few more to go.

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's Valentine's Day card,

Impressions Abloom, Brushed With Beauty, Thank You Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog.  Today I have a thank you card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

My Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Brushed With Beauty" 12" x 12" package.  The strip on the left was cut at 1" x 4-3/4" and the floral strip was cut at 2" x 5".

The oval was cut using the die from the "Impressions Abloom" bundle.  I also cut a circle using the third largest die in the "Stylish Shapes" set. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set aside.

The words are also from the "Impressions Abloom" bundle and were stamped on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock using Mossy Meadow ink. I cut them out using the longest ribbon end die in the "Stylish Shapes" set.  Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set aside.

I was now ready to assemble the card.

I taped the 1" strip down first. It's about 1/4" from the fold and about 3/8" from the top and bottom of the card base.

The next strip was taped in place and is about 5/8" from the fold and about 1/4" from the top and bottom edges.

The oval was taped in place about 1" from the fold, about 3/4" from the bottom and 11/16" from the top edge.

The words were set in place about 1-1/8" from the bottom edge, 1/8" from the right edge and a hair shy of 3/4" from the fold.

I had some (retired) Candy Dots that I used to add a little bit of bling. They matched the colors in the card so I thought I'd use them. One of these day's I'll have used them all up!

This was a fun card to make. I find it a bit busy looking and hindsight I think I should have cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it before adding the DSP.  Maybe next time I use this layout.  It is a fun layout. I used it on a card I made earlier this month. You can see that card by clicking here

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's thank you card,

Fragrant Layers, Birthday Card, Gift Card Holder, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a birthday card gift card holder to share with you. Please read on to see how it's made.

The base of my card is a 4-1/4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock.

I cut a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Lovely & Beautiful" 12" x 12" package. I taped it to the cut piece of Basic White card stock.

I cut a 4-1/4" x 9" piece of Fresh Freesia card stock. I scored it at 3" and 6".  The section the left is a mountain fold and the next section is a valley fold. Once folded there will be a right fold on the top and a left fold on the bottom.

I cut a 2-3/4" x 4" piece of Basic White card stock and stamped the flower from the "Fragrant Layers" bundle using black Memento ink. I colored the flowers using my Blends pens. I used both light and dark, Fresh Freesia and Granny Apple Green and the light Daffodil Delight for the flower centers. I sponged some Fresh Freesia ink on the edges and then I lightly sponged over the white area around the flowers because it looked to bright. I needed to tone it down a bit. (I had to use a paperclip to hold the card shut for the photo).

On the inside I cut the pocket for the gift card or money. It measures 3-1/4" x 3".  Score the sides at 1/4" on the longer side. I punched out a space to grab the gift card. I used the 1-3/4" punch. Any punch would work for this, you just need to have a groove in it to make it easier to remove what is placed inside. I glued the two sides and bottom in place. I cut a 2-1/4" x 2-1/4" piece of the DSP and taped it to the front of the pocket.

Then on the final side of this folded piece I added a 2-3/4" x 4" piece of Basic White card stock to write on. I did stamp "Happy Birthday" from the "Charming Day" set with black Memento ink.  And the card was done.

I've made these gift card holders before and I think they are fun and quick to do.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday gift card holder,
Wanda

Cute as a Bug, Ladybug Garden, Sweet Bugs, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have one more Friendship card to share with you and then I'll move onto something else (maybe! lol). Please read on to see how I made today's card.

This layout is one I sue often,  it's one of my favorites for smaller images.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4-1/8" x 5-1/4" piece of Poppy Parade for the largest layer.

The Basic White layer measures 3-1/2" x 4-5/8". On top of that is a Petal Pink layer that measures 3" x 4-1/8" and the Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Cute as a Bug" 12" x 12" package measures 207/8" x 4".

I put a small amount of tape where the opening is going to be so I could stick the top two pieces together. I lined the pieces up in my 1-1/4" circle punch and punched a hole. Then I took the DSP and added a piece of copier paper (card stock will work too) behind it for stability and punched out a ring using the 1-3/8" circle punch. You can use any punches or dies as long as the two used together creates a nice framed border/layer. I still have my old punches and use them for this card a lot. Okay, once the circles are done I taped the two pieces together and then I taped them to the Basic White layer and then I taped that to the Poppy Parade layer. Normally I use Dimenisonals behind the circle piece but I had to change that since it wasn't quite large enough and the bugs antennas and legs would be cut off.

The bug is from the same package of DSP. There's 22 dies in the bundle and of all the dies, there is not one for this cutie and it's my favorite one. SO, I took out my fine tip snips and fussy cut the little bugger! Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place inside the circle.

The words are from the same bundle and were stamped using Blackberry Bliss ink. Why?  I don't know. I should have used black. I wasn't thinking and I had already set it in place on the front of the card with Dimensionals. Once you press down on the Dimensionals, there's really no way of removing them nicely, especially on top of DSP. So I just left it.  I almost forgot, I used the "Labeled with Love" punch to punch the piece out. I had punched a bunch out a while back so I can just grab one and stamp it when I need it.

For the final touch I added a lady bug from the "Ladybug Garden" epoxy embellishments package and the card was done.

This is such a quick and easy card to make. I am happy with the way it turned out too!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's friendship card,

Sweet Bugs, Cute as a Bug, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a friendship card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper from the "Cute as a Bug" 12" x 12" package. I taped it to the front of the card.

I also cut a 4" x 2" piece of DSP from the same package for the gingham strip.

Using the largest circle die in the "Stylish Shapes" set I cut one of Poppy Parade and using the second largest circle die, I cut one using Basic White card stock. I taped the two circles together.

The bug is from the same DSP and I used a matching die to cut it out. There's one bug in the package that "bugs" me. It's mantis and I'm not sure how to use it on a card, but I'll probably figure it out.  I'm just not fond of it so I'm guessing it will be a long time before I use it, unless I find a card that used it that's SO stinkin' cute!  Anyway, I cut the bug out using the matching die in the "Sweet Bugs" bundle. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set aside.

I also cut out the strawberry using Poppy Parade card stock and the raspberry using Blackberry Bliss card stock. Hmmm, maybe it's a blackberry!!  LOL. The die set also has the tops for the berries so I cut them out of Old Olive card stock and used a tiny bit of glue to hold them in place. A small Dimensional was added to the back and they were set aside.

The "hello" is from the same bundle. Using Blackberry Bliss ink on a scrap of Basic White card stock, I stamped the "Hello Friend" image but cut the "friend" off. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set aside.

Now to assemble the rest of the card. I took the strip of DSP and taped it on the larger piece of DSP about 1" from the bottom of that larger piece.

The circles were taped in place next and they are about 1/4" from the fold and 3/4" from the bottom edge.

The bug was added next and then the "hello". This allowed me to see where the two berries would go. Once they were on, I opened the "Ladybug Garden" epoxy embellishments and added one to the large leaf the bug is holding and the card was done.

This was a fun card and a great way to use that busy background DSP.

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's friendship card,

Sweet Bugs, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I got a surprise today. My Stampin' Up! order arrived 2 days earlier than expected. I didn't follow the tracking of it, I just remembered when I ordered and it later said it was sent, the projected date to receive it was for Friday the 16th. I was a bit disappointed because I knew I was having some people over and I wouldn't even be able to open the box while they are here. So I couldn't wait to open it and play with some new stuff. I found this card on Pinterest earlier (before the order arrived) and I thought it was adorable. Once I opened the box, I remembered it from Pinterest so I got my items together and created it. You can see the original card by clicking here. I did change it slightly. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Blackberry Burst. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

Two pieces of Basic White card stock were cut at 4" x 5-1/4".  One for the front and the other for the inside.

The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the "Cute As A Bug" 12" x 12" package. I used the matching die from the "Sweet Bugs" bundle to cut the bug with the leaf out. On the original card the image was stamped, colored and then cut out. One, I'm lazy and two, the bug was already printed on the paper and I had the matching die! So, I opted for the printed one.

The flower and stem were cut from card stock. Mossy Meadow for the stem and Blackberry Bliss for the flower.

The 5th die in the "Everyday Arches" set to cut out a piece of Basic White card stock.

The words are from the same "Sweet Bugs" bundle and were stamped using Blackberry Bliss ink.

I colored some crystal rhinestones using my dark Blackberry Bliss Blends pen but it just didn't seem to be as dark as the ink. But it's still pretty.

To assemble the card I taped the 4" x 5-1/4" Basic White pieces in place. Then the DSP was taped on top of that. The arched piece was next.

Dimensionals were added to the back of the bug and the flower. The flower stem was glued in place and the flower was added. The bug was added next and then the rhinestones.  And that was it.

This was such a fun card to make. I was going to mail the card I made yesterday to my friend but I decided she's getting this one instead. It's just TOO cute!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's friendship card,

Copper Bracelets

Knotted chain
Good day to you all. I hope you haven't been sitting on pins and needles waiting to see the bracelet I have been working on.  LOL I actually have two to show you. The knotted one that I had been talking about and a daintier one. The daintier one came from using the messed up pieces from making the first one. I'd get the coil backwards or the ends would poke out after hammering. I'd end up with scrap. But being such a scrap user with stamping, I learned to use the scrap copper to make something too.  So, here's the two bracelets. I still need to file any rough spots and then put them in the tumbler for a half hour to smooth out any imperfections and to shine them up!  Then they'll go in my web store.

I found the patterns to make both of these on YouTube.

Thanks for looking,
Wanda

Petals of Beauty, Everyday Arches, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have another friendship card to share with you. It's definitely not a masculine card! LOL Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Bubble Bath card stock for the top layer. I textured it using the "Exposed Brick" embossing folder.

Next I cut a 4-1/2" x 3-1/4" piece of Crumb Cake for the layer. On top of that layer is a 4-1/4" x 3" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Beautiful Bokek" 6" x 6" stack in the Berry Burst color.

On the piece of DSP I taped three strips of Basic White card stock that I stamped on. I took a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Basic White card stock and using the images from the "Petals of Beauty" bundle, I stamped the flowers on it. It's a two step stamping set so I stamped the solid image using Pretty in Pink. On top of that I stamped the Berry Burst detailed image. And I filled in the areas using the single flower stamp and Crumb Cake ink stamped full ink and then stamped again before re-inking.

Once I was done with the stamping, I cut the piece into strips. The two outer strips are cut at 3/4" x 4" and the center strip is 1" x 4".  It taped the outer strips on top of the DSP first and then the center strip.

Using those same two step stamps, I stamped two with the Bubble Bath base and Berry Burst centers. I cut them out using the matching die.

I die cut the leaves from the same bundle using Bubble Bath card stock and Basic White card stock. There's also a leaf center die that I cut some Bubble Bath and Basic White pieces from.

The "hello" is from the "Everyday Arches" bundle and was stamped using Berry Burst ink on Basic White card stock. I cut it out using the "Labeled with Love" punch. I also cut a Crumb Cake one too. I cut the Crumb Cake on in half and taped each half to the back of the Basic White piece to give it a border.  Dimensionals were added to the back.

The first thing I did was tape the bottom of the stems of the two large leaf clusters. Then I rolled some linen thread three times around my fingers and used a glue dot to hold it in place where the word piece was going to be.

The word piece was set in place and then the other elements were tucked in using a little glue on the bottoms.

I had some retired "Candy Dots" and I added a couple of Pretty in Pink ones to the front of the card and the card was done.

This was such a fun card to make. I love all of the little pieces that were die cut and tucked in place. It gave the card a lot of dimension. I think that a little Crumb Cake piece should have been added too but it is what it is and I actually like how it turned out!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's friendship card,

Everyday Arches, Autumn Toile, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a masculine friendship card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Mossy Meadow card stock for the large layer.

The Early Espresso layer was cut at 3-1/2" x 4-3/4".  On top of that I cut some Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Autumn Toile" 12" x 12" package.  The top pieces are cut 1" x 2-1/2" and the bottom piece was cut at 2" x 3-1/4".  I taped the bottom piece on first leaving about 1/8" on the bottom and each side. The strips were taped down next. I taped two outside piece first and then the center piece. They butted up to the bottom piece.

I took some linen thread and wrapped it four times around the area where the pieces of DSP meet. I taped the ends to the back with scotch tape.  Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the Mossy Meadow piece. Then that was taped to the front of the card.

The "hello" is from the "Everyday Arches" bundle and was stamped using Early Espresso ink. It was cut out using the "Labeled With Love" punch. Dimensionals were added to the upper and lower part of the piece so it could straddle the linen thread. And that was it. I kept it simple because it is a masculine card and there's not a lot of masculine embellishments that would go with it!  So it is kept clean and simple, just the way I like it.

This card turned out exactly what I had in my head. How often does that happen?  I mean exactly! A lucky day for me! LOL

Now off to write inside and get it ready for tomorrow's mail and then back to my bracelets. I just need to add the clasps and I'll share them with you tomorrow! They still need to be tumbled to remove any rough spots and to polish it up so it sparkles! So stay tuned!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's friendship card,

The Right Words, Brushed With Beauty, Sympathy Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a quick and simple card to share with you. It's a layout I've used before and it's always been among my favorites. You get two cards when making this (if you want). Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half sheet of Mossy Meadow card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut two 4" x 5-1/4" pieces for each card (I opted to make two). I taped one to the inside and the other I set aside until I was ready to stamp the words.

Next came the Designer Series Paper (DSP). Mine is from the "Brushed With Beauty" 12" x 12" package. I cut two pieces of the same design that measure 2-1/2" x 3-1/2".  I turned one piece over. I lined them up and cut them on the diagonal on my paper cutter.  Just making one and cutting it on the diagonal doesn't give you both colors, so you almost have to make two cards. And why not?

I like to cut a piece of copier paper that is just shy of 2-1.2" x 3-1/2".  I taped the floral part of the image on the upper part of the copier paper and the more solid color on the bottom.  The second card will be the opposite unless your images don't matter which way they go. My flowers did so my second card has the solid on the top and the flowers on the bottom.  When I've made this card before I didn't use the copier paper, I just taped the DSP right to the 4" x 5-1/4" layer.  But this time I wanted it popped up and the only way to do that easily was to put it on a backing.  You can use card stock, I just had a scrap piece of copier paper near me.

Once the rectangle was assembled I laid it on the top of the layer to see where the words would go. The words are from "The Right Words" set and were stamped using Mossy Meadow ink.

The rectangle was then set in place using Dimensionals.

I thought the center needed something so I used the smallest circle die in the "Stylish Shapes" set on a scrap piece of Mossy Meadow card stock. I glued it to the center. I chose glue because I wanted to be able to move it around a bit to get it centered enough to look centered! I didn't measure.

That wasn't enough, it still looked like it needed something so I added a pearl to the center. I figure most people go to the funeral so they don't mail them so the pearl was okay to add.

Like I said at the beginning of this post, this was such a quick and easy card to make. I love using this layout. It works for so many other occasions. It just depends on the DSP you use. And it also works if. you have the fold on the top and move the rectangle to the left, or the right if you prefer. It's very versatile!

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's sympathy card,
Wanda

Impressions Abloom, Peaceful Pier, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a quick and fun layout to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock for the top layer.

I took a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Exposed Brick" embossing folder. I cut a strip from that folder that measures 1-1/2" x 4-3/4". I cut the ends at an angle about 3/4" down from the top. I put it on my paper cutter and cut from the corner to the 3/4" mark. I glued the piece about 7/8" from the fold and about 3/8" from the top and bottom. It's not quite equal on the 3/8" mark so I often tape or glue the piece to the upper part and let the lower part be a hair larger. It's not that noticeable.

Next, using the "Impressions Abloom" bundle, I stamped the flower using Highland Heather for the solid part, stamping off once. And stamping full ink for the detailed stamp. The center of the flower using Pecan Pie ink. Then I cut it out using the matching die and textured die. The flower petals has some texture but it's not showing up on the pic.

The stem and leaves were cut using the dies in the same bundle.

The words were stamped next. They are from the "Peaceful Pier" set and were stamped using Mossy Meadow ink.

I laid the stem in place to where I thought the end would hang just enough over the textured piece to look nice. Then I glued it in place.

The flower was set on next using a Dimensional. Then the leaves were glued in place.

I thought the piece needed something more but I didn't want to add any embellishments because it's going out in the mail next week. SO, since I had some leftover embossed strip I thought I'd add some dots. I cut them out using the smallest circle die in the "Stylish Shapes" set. I set them in place using Dimensionals. I lined up the top two to be fairly centered along the lowest part of the angled strip and the middle one was centered as much as I could by eyeing it. It's about 1/4" from the right edge of the card.

The piece was then taped to the card base and the card was done.

This was a very fun, easy and quick card to make. I like this layout, it's different!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's friendship card,

Brushed With Beauty, Petals of Beauty, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I thought I'd play with some squares. Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Exposed Brick" embossing folder. I glued it in place and set it under my stamping mat to give it a little pressure while it was setting up.

Using the second smallest square die in the "Stylish Shapes" set I cut three pieces from the "Brushed With Beauty" 12" x 12" package of Designer Series Paper (DSP).  When I taped them together, I counted the stitch marks, 8 on each side. I figured if I counted them then it would be even on both sides and easy to get all three pieces aligned nicely.  I set them aside.

Next I cut a 3-5/8"x 4-7/8" piece of Basic White card stock for the top layer. I laid the squares on top but I didn't tape them in place yet. I needed to see where the words should go. Once I saw how it was going to look, I stamped the words from "The Right Words" set using black Memento ink.

The squares were then taped in place. The left tips of the squares are about 5/8" from the fold.

The leafy piece is from the "Petals of Beauty" bundle and was cut using a piece of Basic White card stock that had a piece from a double-sided sheet to the back. I wanted this piece to be a sticker because it's too tiny to try to glue down nicely.  Once that was set in place I added Dimensionals to the back of the layer and it was set in place on the front of the card.  And the card was done.

I think some embellishments would look pretty on it but I left it plain because I'm mailing it and I don't want to pay the extra postage for the embellishments.

This was a fun card to make and I liked playing with the squares.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card.

Now I'm off to work a little more on a bracelet I decided to make. Would you like to see it once it's done?

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda

Wildflower Birthday, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I'm late in making my card tonight and I debate whether or not I should make one or just pass. I rarely miss a day of posting a card. Then I remembered a couple of piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) that I found on my worktable while I was cleaning up some stacks of stuff. I found the cake and the Pretty in Pink pieces all cut just waiting to be made into a card. I know the cake and background paper is from a retired pack but ....  I still had the pack and these pieces really needed to be used, plus I am in crunch time. So here's the card I whipped up today.

The DSP is from the (retired) "Wildflower Birthday" package. I had already cut the pieces using the "Everyday Arches" die set. It looks like I used the 2nd and 3rd die in the set.  Now from here I was on my own.

I taped the two arched pieces together and added Dimensionals to the back.

Using a folded half-sheet of Basic White card for the base, I taped a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of DSP from the same package. It's such a pretty gingham piece.

Then the arched pieces were added.

The balloon is from the same package. It had two sheets of pre-cut images. So I thought the balloon was the best fit for this card. Dimensionals were added to the part of the ballon that touches the top layer.

I didn't add any sentiment because the card pretty much speaks for itself. And that was it. I thought about adding some bling to where the dots are on the "frosting" swooped design but I decided to leave it, it gets more expensive to mail cards with hard/firm embellishments.  Dimensionals squish down in the postal machines (as long as there aren't too many layers).

This was a very super quick card to make and I did leave the package of DSP out so I can make a few more like this for my stash.  I'd really like to use up that package.  I'm on a quest to use up packages, there's SO many sitting around here. I just hate to give them up.  Not that I'm going to post a lot of retired items here but today I was in a time crunch and I just had to.  Plus this layout can be used for other sheets of current DSP. I may take the time tomorrow and work it out with some and see what I get.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda

Friendly Foliage, Peaceful Garden, Thinking of You Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a thinking of you card to share with you. I found it on Pinterest. You can see the original card by clicking here.  I followed the link but there were no measurements on how it was made, so I guessed! Please read on to see how I put this card together.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I thought this was a fun card to make because my plan was to use the "Friendly Foliage" bundle and when I saw this card on Pinterest, I thought it was great because I could use the "Peaceful Garden" Designer Series Paper (DSP). It's actually still available to order! I thought once the fall mini catalog was over the items were no longer available, but some are!  Nice!  Anyway, the strip on the right side was cut at 1-1/4" x 4-3/4" and the larger piece was cut at 3" x 4".  I taped the strip down first. It's about 3/8" from the right edge and the top and bottom edges.

The larger piece of DSP was taped in place on top of the strip about 3/8" from the fold and 7/8" from the right edge. It is about 3/4" from the top and bottom edges.

The image is from the "Friendly Foliage" bundle and was stamped using Secret Sea ink on Basic White card stock. It was then cut out using both dies from the bundle. One cuts out the outside edge and the other cuts the center pieces. It can be done together so save a step.

After cutting out the focal piece, I cut two of the open leafs pieces using Basic White card stock.

I took some linen thread and wrapped it around my four fingers two times. I took a glue dot and pressed it on the thread after squishing it to form a figure 8.  I pressed the glue dot down onto the fron tof the card

The words were stamped next using Versa Mark on a 2-1/8" x 5/8" piece of Secret Sea card stock. White embossing powder was put on top, shaken off and then heat set. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place over the linen piece.  And the card was done.

This was a very fun, quick and easy card to make. I do like it a lot. I was glad to use up more of that "Peaceful Garden" DSP.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's thinking of you card,
Wanda

Brushed With Beauty, Petals of Beauty, Thinking of You Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a thinking of you card to share with you.  I struggled SO much with this card. With colors mostly. Please read on to see how it was made.

First of all this was not what was in my head. It was SO much prettier there! LOL The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Very Vanilla card stock, it opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Brushed With Beauty" 12" x 12" package. I set it aside.

Next, using the largest circle die in the "Stylish Shapes" set I cut the floral piece from the same package of DSP.  I taped it to the bottom right corner and I trimmed the bottom and side. I had actually had a piece of Very Vanilla there but it looked awful, so I covered it with the DSP.

Using the second largest circle die I cut a Very Vanilla piece and I set it aside.

The flowers were a struggle because I couldn't match the color of the ones in the DSP.  Perhaps if they were stamped on Basic White they would have matched better, I don't know.  Anyway, I stamped the right one using Peach Pie for the solid layer and for the top I used Timid Tiger ink. And for the left flower I used Pretty in Pink for the solid part and Flirty Flamingo for the top detailed layer.  I cut them out using the dies in the "Petals of Beauty" bundle (where the stamp images came from).

The centers were an issue too. I had original cut them from Crushed Curry card stock but it was too bright, so I took my blending brush and some Early Espresso ink and lightly colored them. Well, that looked awful, so I really inked up the brush and added more Early Espresso and went with that.  I'm still not happy with the centers.

My next issue was to get the leaves the right color. Nothing really matched the background DSP. I tried everything I had that was current. I think a mint color would go better with it but I ended up using Mossy Meadow. I cut the one group of leaves and I cut the petals off to slip them under the flowers.

I laid the flowers in place so I could see where the wording would go. The words are from the "Peaceful Pier" set and were stamped using Mossy Meadow ink. I taped this in place on the front of the card, covering the floral circle a bit.

Now it was time to add the flowers. I added Dimensionals to the back of the pink one and set it in place. I added Dimensionals to the right side of the peach/orange one and taped on the other half and set it in place on the front of the card. I didn't press down on them because I needed to be able to slip the leaves under it and I didn't want to have a Dimensional stopping me. I added a little glue to the leaves and slipped them under the flowers.

A few pearls were added and the card was finished.

WOW! I'm hoping that my next card won't be such a disaster and such a struggle!  This one is just not me!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's thinking of you card,

Impressions Abloom, Painterly Pears, Fully Flowering Ephemera, Thank You Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a thank you card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Soft Sea Foam card stock and textured it using the "Exposed Brick" embossing folder. I glued it to the front of the card base.

The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the "Painterly Pears" 12" x 12" package. The piece on the left measures 1x 4-3/4" and the piece behind the oval measures 2" x 5".  I glued those in place on the front of the card. The strip on the left is about 1/2" from the fold and 3/8" from the top and bottom. The larger piece of DSP is about 7/8" from the fold and 1/4" from the top and bottom edge.

The oval is from the "Impressions Abloom" bundle was cut on a piece of Basic White card stock. Before stamping the words on it, I popped out the flower and leaves from the "Fully Flowering" ephemera package and laid them over the oval for placement. Once I set them were I thought they looked best I stamped the words.

The words are from "The Right Words" set and were stamped using Mossy Meadow ink. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the front of the card about 1/4" from the right edge and about 3/4" from the top and bottom edge.

The flowers and leaves were added next. Dimensionals were added to the back of the flower piece and it was set in place on the oval The leaves piece was cut so three leaves are exposed on the top and bottom. I added a bit of glue to the ends of the leaves and slipped them under the flower piece.

I took some retired "Candy Dots" and added them to the front of the card and the card was done.

This was a fun layout to play with. I made myself a copier paper sample for future reference. I think I will be using this layout more in the near future. I've had a look at the stamps in the new spring mini and I think some of them will work in this layout!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's thank you card,
