Brushed With Beauty, Petals of Beauty, Thinking of You Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a thinking of you card to share with you.  I struggled SO much with this card. With colors mostly. Please read on to see how it was made.

First of all this was not what was in my head. It was SO much prettier there! LOL The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Very Vanilla card stock, it opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Brushed With Beauty" 12" x 12" package. I set it aside.

Next, using the largest circle die in the "Stylish Shapes" set I cut the floral piece from the same package of DSP.  I taped it to the bottom right corner and I trimmed the bottom and side. I had actually had a piece of Very Vanilla there but it looked awful, so I covered it with the DSP.

Using the second largest circle die I cut a Very Vanilla piece and I set it aside.

The flowers were a struggle because I couldn't match the color of the ones in the DSP.  Perhaps if they were stamped on Basic White they would have matched better, I don't know.  Anyway, I stamped the right one using Peach Pie for the solid layer and for the top I used Timid Tiger ink. And for the left flower I used Pretty in Pink for the solid part and Flirty Flamingo for the top detailed layer.  I cut them out using the dies in the "Petals of Beauty" bundle (where the stamp images came from).

The centers were an issue too. I had original cut them from Crushed Curry card stock but it was too bright, so I took my blending brush and some Early Espresso ink and lightly colored them. Well, that looked awful, so I really inked up the brush and added more Early Espresso and went with that.  I'm still not happy with the centers.

My next issue was to get the leaves the right color. Nothing really matched the background DSP. I tried everything I had that was current. I think a mint color would go better with it but I ended up using Mossy Meadow. I cut the one group of leaves and I cut the petals off to slip them under the flowers.

I laid the flowers in place so I could see where the wording would go. The words are from the "Peaceful Pier" set and were stamped using Mossy Meadow ink. I taped this in place on the front of the card, covering the floral circle a bit.

Now it was time to add the flowers. I added Dimensionals to the back of the pink one and set it in place. I added Dimensionals to the right side of the peach/orange one and taped on the other half and set it in place on the front of the card. I didn't press down on them because I needed to be able to slip the leaves under it and I didn't want to have a Dimensional stopping me. I added a little glue to the leaves and slipped them under the flowers.

A few pearls were added and the card was finished.

WOW! I'm hoping that my next card won't be such a disaster and such a struggle!  This one is just not me!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's thinking of you card,
Wanda

I would say you matched it pretty good, it is really hard to get an exact copy, at least I have never achieved that, as long as it looks good I am happy, and I think this looks great!
