Big Shot Peekaboo Frames Tag

This is recycling at it's finest!!!  This bottle use to contain a reed defusing fragrance.  It all evaporated or did whatever it does.  The bottle was empty so I tossed out the reeds and tossed the glass bottle and stopper in the dishwasher.  After it was all clean I set it in my workroom for a couple of months.  Last month I had made some bath salts and added some to the bottle and once again set it aside.  I don't want to rush into a project all at once!!! LOL

Today I was looking at the bottle of bath salts and I still had the "Sunny Fun" set sitting out.  SO I thought some flip flops would go well with bath salts!  I was thinking of how I was going to add it to the bottle.  The "tag"idea came to mind and as I was getting off my chair to pick out some papers I saw the new "Peekaboo Frames" die and thought I would try to make it work for my tag and here you have it.

I cut the round frame out twice, once in white card stock and once in Perfect Plum.  I cut the center part out of the plum colored piece and set it on top of the white piece for an added color frame around it.  I punched out a 1-1/4" circle and affixed it to the back of the tag.  I wanted to be able to open the front piece and have a solid back piece there.

Next I stamped the flip flops, colored them and cut them out.  I set them in place on top of the flap.

Inside I added the words "Relax & Enjoy".  I printed out the words on my computer and punched them out with a 1" punch and affixed them to the inside of the frame.  The second photo shows the flap open.  Now with adding that plum ring around the frame it allowed the flap to close again.  They will open and close again but the more you bend that score on the top part of the frame, the more it wants to stay open.  So with two layers for the flap to close into it stays closed!  I found that out by accident!! Don't you love it when you find something great by accident?  That is how most of my stuff is discovered!  LOL

So now it's ready for gift giving or for the craft fair.  I have not decided what I'm going to do with it yet.  But I am glad I got to use the flip flops from the "Sunny Fun" set.  That was one image I hadn't used yet (before that retires too).

The bath salts recipe can be found here.  I don't usually color my bath salts.  I prefer to keep them white so I can use them with any color tags.  But last month I wanted to make colored ones for some reason.  Probably because I ran across a small bottle of colorant!!  That will do it every time!!!

This was a very fun project to make.  I wish I had more bottles!!  But at least this one was saved from the garbage.  Our city doesn't take bottles like this for recycling.

A Housewarming Gift

You can hardly bring a card to someone with a new house without bringing them a housewarming gift. I thought Cyndi could use something to help her relax after unpacking all of those boxes. Moving is NOT fun. We moved here in this house MANY years ago and have collected a lot of "stuff" and now I'm slowly going through things and looking at "things" and deciding whether or not I want to keep them anymore. Each year I have "stuff" for the huge neighborhood garage sale. Plus I have actually been using some of these "things" too!!! Done collecting!!! I say that right now, who knows if it will continue!!! LOL

Anyway back to Cyndi's little gift. I used Whisper White card stock and ran it through the Big Shot using the Stampin' Up! "Bag with Scallops" die. Among my favorite dies to use!!! I punched the oval hole in the bag before I assembled it. It's SO much easier to do it right away!!! And yes, I have tried to punch the hole after I got it all put together. It's next to impossible!!! I put some acetate behind it so the opening had a window. I filled a little zip baggie with bath salts and set it inside the die cut bag. I did tape the scallop part shut. Sometimes I will punch holes in the the scallop part and the upper part of the bag and tie a ribbon though it so I can close the flap by tieing a bow. This time I made a bow and taped it in place with a half a pop dot (which by the way I do NOT like cutting in half!!! Though I did figure out if you put rubbing alcohol on your scissors it cuts nicely and no sticky residue on the scissors either!!!). The beautiful paper on the front is from the Razzleberry Lemonade decorative paper. I only have a half sheet of that design left and two full sheets of two of the other designs. That paper is almost gone!!! Do I buy another pack or try a different one??? What to do??? LOL

To get the hole in the decorative paper correct I just set the paper on the bag (before I taped it all together) and traced where the window should go. Then I punched it out. For the scallop, I punched out the oval and then I lined up the scallop punch, centered the oval and punched it out. It's a very thin scallop piece but it was what the window needed!!! Oh and notice I actually photographed the picture at an angle instead of head on so you could tell it was a bag and not just a piece of flat paper!!!

These are fun to make and to give away as gifts. These would be great for hostess gifts, customer appreciation gifts, craft fairs, make n takes, Christmas gifts, etc!!! These links contain many items under each topic!

The bath salt recipe can be found here.

Salty Sandals!!! Weekend Project

Here is another "Weekend Project" that won't take you all weekend to do unless you are making TONS of them!!! These are so fun and quick you may want to make TONS of them!! I find they make great little fun "girly" gifts. Who doesn't like a reason to soak in a nice hot tub for a while???

I used the Stampin' Up! Box #2 Die. This is one of those dies that I sure do get a lot of use out of. I am hoping they come out with one that opens from the side instead of the top. That way I can have the window at the top and it will display bon bons or whatever!!

This was a fun project for me to do because bath stuff is right up my alley!! The simple bath salt recipe can be found here. I like to use this recipe because I usually have the "stuff" in the house to make it!!! Mix them up and set them aside in a container with a lid. You don't want dust in it. Plus you want to contain the fragrance.

Then I cut out my box. I did have to cut out the window with an X-acto blade. I wasn't able to use a punch to do it because of the top and bottom being designed the way they were. Not that there is anything wrong with their design, it just isn't meant for what I wanted to do with it.

After I got it cut out I used the Stampin' Up! "See You Around" jumbo wheel. I stamped it in Bashful Blue ink on Bashful Blue card stock. Then I took the white gel pen and filled in some of the open circles. I just wanted the box to have a bit more color and "depth."

I glued the window in before I glued the side flap to the box. I used a clothespin to hold the flap in place to dry. While the glue was drying I stamped the sandals using the stamp from "Just Beachy" set. Aren't they just adorable??? I colored the flower in using YoYo Yellow and the straps and edges were colored in using Bashful Blue. I glued them in place as you see in the photo.

I then took 2" x 3" zip baggies and filled them with the bath salts. The box holds 3 of them. I took 1/4" white grosgrain ribbon and tied it around the box. It wasn't enough, the box looked like it needed just a little something more. SO I got out the flower punch and punched 3 flowers using white card stock. I took the end of the gel pen and pressed the flowers onto a piece of 1/4" thick Fun Foam. Then I colored the edges with the YoYo Yellow marker and I made a dot of yellow in the center. I drew some lines on the flower to show petals. It was easy to see those "lines" because the paper crinkled just right when I pressed it in the Fun Foam with the gel pen. I glued the flowers on the upper right corner and It brightened up the box and left it with a more completed look. Now it is ready for gift giving. These would make a great Stamp Camp project, Hostess Gift, Customer Appreciation Gift, Make N Take and Slumber Party Projects/Gifts.

If you are going to make these to sell you will need to use the Stampin' Up! copyright stamp on the box (probably on the bottom). And you will need to type up the ingredients and instructions. Be sure to include something about not intended for children under 5.

Isn't it a fun project? You can be SO creative with these things!!! I'd LOVE to see what you do with them!!

Lavished in Luxury! Weekend Project

Here's a fun gift to make and it really doesn't take all that long either!!! Gotta LOVE that!!!

Once again I am recycling glass bottles. These had Hormel bacon pieces in them. I like bacon but yet I don't. I won't eat a piece of fried bacon. I find the fat on it disgusting. But the Hormel bacon in the jar has very little fat, it's mostly the meat. It works great in our salads and dishes that call for bacon. If hubby wants bacon he can order it when he goes out for breakfast with is family on Sundays!!! WOW, more information you didn't need to know about me!!! LOL

Ok, onto the project! I typed up the words on the computer. I used Carmine Tango font and the size of it is 20. It fit in the large oval punch nicely. I printed a full page of them on Whisper White card stock. After I punched it out I sponged the edges in Lavender Lace. I punched out the new larger oval using Lavender Lace card stock. I used the Sizzix "Lots of Tags" die cut for the label part. I cut it out of Whisper White and sponged the edges of it as well.

I tied a ribbon around the neck of the jar. I was looking for some Lavender Lace ribbon and realized I didn't have any. SO I take out my catalog and was going to add it to my list of things to order and much to my surprise there is not one piece of Lavender ribbon in the whole ribbon section. Not even Lovely Lilac!!! Hmmm. I thought I could dye some ribbon but it's just too messy of a project for me. Plus I don't feel that the ink sets well enough and it still gets on your fingers.

On the top of the lid I punched out a scallop and layered on top of it a 1-3/8" piece of white card stock that has the word "Diva" typed on it.

On the bottom I have the directions and the ingredients. If you are making them for yourself you don't need to add this information but if you are making them for gifts or to sell you MUST add it.

I suggest 1 or 2 Tablespoons in the bath water.

The recipe for the bath salts can be found here.

Save those fun looking jars, you never know when a project will pop up that you need them for. I have a garage full!!! LOL Have fun making these!

Bath Salts Gift Pack Weekend Project!

I haven't done a weekend project in a while so I thought I'd post one tonight. I've been so busy with those technique pages that I forgot about doing a weekend project until I ran across some bath salt I had made a while ago. It keeps as long as it's in an air tight container. And I ALWAYS keep mine in an airtight container. Not because it's best for the bath salts but because I would bump it and spill it!!! LOL

Let's start out with the bath salt recipe. It can be found here. It's a very simple recipe with only a few ingredients. It's best if the bath salts are not "today" fresh. Putting bath salts in plastic is not always a good idea. In time the fragrance oils will eat away at the plastic. I weigh my bath salts and 50 grams fits just right in the 3" x 3" zip bag.

SO to make the container/box you can print right on the card stock. I would use copier paper first to see if the measurements are close enough. Each printer is different. I saved the pattern in a PDF file so anyone can open it (as long as you have the program on your computer that opens these, usually the Adobe Reader). From side to side on the inside part should measure 3-3/16". Your bag of bath salts measures 3" x 3" so if the inside of the box is larger than 3" x 3" it should work. The pattern for this project can be found here.

Decorate the container/box as you wish. Here I used the Stampin' Up! "Sprinkles" little back ground stamps. I thought flowers sounded good on a relaxing bath product! I used glossy card stock and stamped in Versa Mark. I embossed with clear embossing powder. I then sponged in the colors. I used Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink and Yo Yo Yellow.

Once the container was colored the way I wanted I set it aside to dry. I took a mailing label and put it in my Big Kick using the new Baskets & Blooms die cut. There is a cute little flower on there and the label fit perfectly on it. So I cut out the flower only. I sponged on the color.

Remove the backing from the label and have it ready to go. Lay the bath salts inside the box. Fold over the side flaps then the bottom flap. Holding it securely fold over the top flap. Take the flower label and "tape" the container shut. I wrapped some Certainly Celery ribbon around the box. Not because I wanted it to stay shut, the flower will do just fine on it's own for that, I just wanted to add a bit more color to the container. I punched out a couple of circles to fit in the scallop. For the white circle that reads "Bath Salts" I made that on the computer. I printed out a full sheet of them as I plan to make a lot more of these for gifts and to sell.

I did type up the instructions on copier paper and I taped them to the inside of the container, it also includes the "warning" for children under three, etc.

Here are those instructions:

Sprinkle a desired amount of the bath salts into warm running bath to allow them to disperse. Get in the bath, relax and enjoy. Warning: For external use only, adult supervision required. Not intended for children under 3 years of age.
As with all of the photos on my blog, if you click on them you can view the items closer. Don't look too close though, many of them have imperfections!!!

More weekend projects can be found here.

Thank you SO much for stopping by today,
Wanda

Pamper Me Pink Bath Salts & Recipe!

This is the last item that was made at the Pamper Me Pink Stamp Camp. It was one of my favorites! I LOVE making bath products! For this project the following items were used:

Glass Clip Jar (or any glass jar that seals)
Regal Rose Card Stock
Whisper White Card Stock
Regal Rose Ink Pad
Tagger's Dozen Stamp Set
Silver Cording
Anywhere Glue Stick
Stamp-A-Ma-Jig
Bath Scoop
Bath Salts

Measure your Regal Rose card stock to fit around your jar. A 9" long strip by 1 1/2" strip was used here. The Whisper White strip was cut 9" long by 1" wide. Stamp your image onto the white card stock. A stamp-a-ma-jig was used here to keep the butterflies in a flowing line. When you have finished stamping, take the glue stick and cover the back of the white piece of card stock and center it onto the rose piece. Cover the back of the rose piece with the glue stick and adhere it to the glass. The piece should overlap a little. You need this overlapping to help it stay stuck. The one in the photo overlaps by 3/4".
*
Your scoop will need a hole in the handle to put the silver cord though. You can do this by taking a large sewing needle and holding the tip of it under a candle to get it hot. Once it's hot poke a hole in the handle and it will melt through. You can take an x-acto knife and carve around the hole a little to clean it up. Tie your silver cord onto the handle and tie it in a pretty bow! The handle will fit into the hinge of the clip. The side ring doesn't meet all the way in the back and you can wiggle the handle in there so it stands straight. If the ends are too close together you can pull them out a bit with a pliers.
*
Fill your jar with bath salts and you're done!
*
This is a very simple bath salt recipe. There are many other recipes on the Internet. I like simple ingredients and I like quick things. This one is both!!
*
Bath Salts Recipe
1 c. coarse salt. (canning or Kosher works just fine)
1 c. Epsom salts
1/4 t. fragrance or essential oil
*
Pour the above ingredients into a glass bowl and mix together with a metal spoon. You can also pour them into a quart size jar, put the lid on it and shake it. If you choose to do this method put the fragrance in second and the epsom salts on top. That way when you shake it the fragrance won't stick to the top.
*
TIPS:
Remember when working with fragrance oils, plastic is your enemy. Fragrance oils will eat away at plastic, so it's not good to mix them or store them in plastic.
*
When making these to sell you will need to include ingredients plus you need to use the Stampin' Up! copyright stamp on it. If using Stampin' Up! stamps to make this for sale you must remember that you are not permitted to sell these in any place that is permanent. You can sell at craft fairs and boutiques. Check with your demonstrator or with Stampin' Up! for the guidelines. Penalties and fees are not worth the money and time you spend making items to sell.
*
Make sure you remove any bath salts from the rim of the jar before you close the lid.
*
The jar is from Michael's and the adorable bath scoops are from the Southern Goose http://www.southerngoose.com/
*These make fabulous gifts for your hostess, friends, family and teachers! Have fun!
