Faux Patina Technique

Well, if this isn't a very pretty and fun technique to do!!! I had a lot of fun with it and I LOVE the end results.  There really is no way to ruin this technique.  Well, there is one.  If you put too much metallic embossing powder on it.  I had too much on it but just brushed it off before I heat set it.  That is one of the nice things about being able to make this look the way you want it to.  I prefer to have too much metallic embossing powder on it so I know where I want more of the background colors to show.  I just took a paint brush and brushed away any powder I didn't want heat set.

To do this technique you just take a piece of white card stock and a pretty embossing folder.  I inked up the lid part of the folder (the  "smoother" side) with Crumb Cake ink.  I put the paper in and ran it through the Big Shot.  Then I sponged on some Marina Mist, some Always Artichoke and then some Early Espresso.  Once done I used the VersaMark pad over the raised areas and sprinkled gold embossing powder on.  I brushed off powder where I thought it looked to thick or heavy and then I heat set it.  That was it.  That is all you do!  I cut my piece in half to fit this card and I now have a big enough scrap piece to make another card!

Isn't it a pretty technique? I have added this to set #5 of my technique pages I offer for sale in my web store. You can print them out and hold classes for a fee.  You can print as many as you like. Each set also comes with a sample finished page so you can use it for reference.  Or you can just decorate the pages as you wish.  All you have to do is print them out, cut on two sides and they are ready for decorating at your class. How simple is that?  All the hard work is done for you!

Need for Speed on Faux Metal

This is a very fun and easy technique.  You just need some aluminum foil and black StazOn.  Other colors of StazOn would work too but black fit this image so much better.  This card was made by Terri at her monthly Technique Class.  There's such a fun group of ladies there and I look forward to seeing them every month.

I did this technique a while back.  You can find the instructions for it here.

The only thing you really need to keep in mind when you are doing this technique is how much pressure you are putting on the textured foil.  The harder you rub the more your image will flatten out.  Not a good thing!

Terri always has such great card ideas.  The image is from The Need for Speed set and with the Argyle background embossing folder it was a perfect match!  I just got the Argyle folder and the Houndstooth one.  I won them in a drawing!!! Lucky me.  I have used the Argyle one but have not used the Houndstooth one yet!!  But it's on my long list of supplies for the cards I want to make.  I wish I had more time in a day to make more cards and projects!!!  I'm working on a way to accomplish that.  So far it's not working.  Housework, job, cooking and that darn sleeping get in the way!!! LOL

Anyway, this is a very fun, easy and super quick technique to play with. Oh and SO effective too!

I have 4 packs of technique pages for sale in my web store.  I have some finished page sets and of course all the sets are available on CD.  You can print them out for classes.  Your customers/students will do the technique and take the page home with them and a card if you opt to include a card in the class too.  You can print out as many as you like, there's no limit.  Each technique comes with a photo of the finished page for reference.  It's an easy way to hold classes without a lot of time and planning on your part!

Faux Crushed Silk Technique Page

I was having so much fun playing with this new technique I came up with that I forgot I needed to post something on my blog.  I can't forget to do my daily posts!! This technique uses ALL Stampin' Up! products.

The stamp set used here is called "Upsy Daisy" and I will probably be selling it in my web store sometime in June.  I'll let you know when I put sets in the store.

The "Thank You" is from a personal stamp I had made for me many years ago.  I make lots of thank you cards and sometimes I just want to have one I know will fit in a particular punch size.

The card stock used here is Basic Black for the base of the card, Whisper White and Cherry Cobbler.

The technique is very fun, a bit messy but that's never an issue, is it?  LOL  This technique will be added to the 5th pack of technique pages I make.  Each pack has 20 techniques in them. You can find packs 1-4 in my webstore.  There are still a few hard copies available and there is always the CD's.  The CD's have the techniques set up to print out on your computer.  You cut two sides and it's ready to tape in place on top of a 6" x 6" piece of card stock to be put in an album for reference.  There's no limit to the number of copies you can print so you can hold technique classes with it for years to come!  Each page also has a photo of a finished page for reference.  They're great for those who want to hold technique club classes.  You can find them in the webstore by clicking here.

Brayer Shadows Technique

Here's a fun technique I just discovered by accident. Isn't that how most techniques are discovered?? Well, most of the ones I discover are by accident!!! LOL

Take a piece of card stock and run it through your embossing folder. This folder is the new Stampin' Up! Textured Impressions "Elegant Bouquet." It's SO pretty and elegant really belongs in the title because it is VERY elegant!! It's really difficult to see the embossing in the photo but trust me, it's there. If you click on the photo you'll be able to see it better.

After you emboss it, turn it over. Ink up your brayer. Here I used Crushed Curry. I ran the brayer over the embossed are once. Then I took the brayer and ran it over a clean piece of card stock. It left a very fun impression on the new card stock. A wider brayer would be more effective for doing a background piece. But you do want to be careful because where you stop with the brayer you have a darker line that is not so attractive on your new card stock. I will be cutting my new card stock around the design area and placing that on my card. I'll work up a card later in the week using it. But for now I just wanted to show you this fun and quick technique. What's fun with this is that the piece you embossed can be inked many times before you have to set it aside to dry or toss it.

This one will make #10 in the third set of 20 pages. I'm half way there! I do have some extra packages of sets 1 and set 2. If you are interested in them please email me. You can also go to my webstore and purchase these pages on CD to use for technique page books for classes! It's a great way to bring in some new and fun things for your customers to attend, do and have for themselves!!!

The photo of the technique page is coming. I'm still in the process of putting it together.

Technique Pages

I have finished redoing the first set of technique pages. For any of you who are waiting for them and have not receive an email from me please email me here. My computer had a nasty virus and the only fix for it was to reformat the whole thing. And in doing so I lost emails and email addresses. I tried to save what I could but towards the end there I was unable to do a thing after it booted up.

I did make a couple extra sets and I have a couple extra of the 2nd set as well. SO if anyone is interested in them please let me know. They will be sold to you on a first come first serve basis. They do go fast!

Thank you,
Wanda
