Colorful Season, Seasonal Layers, Masculine Card

I have not played much with the "Colorful Season" set, mostly because I wanted it because of the snowflakes.  I am not ready to play with snowflakes yet.  I'm waiting to see if there is a large "Merry Christmas" in the fall occasions catalog coming out next month.  I hope so because I have our Christmas card figured out in my head if that's the case!!!  I was going to keep my fingers crossed but it's hard to make cards and type with crossed fingers!! LOL

Anyway, let's get on to today's card.  I do love these leaves, though I do know summer is still going on hot and heavy (heavy and thick air some days).  I thought about doing green leaves but then the cut wood didn't seem to go well with it. Not so much with the color but with the notion. Cut wood usually means fall and dead leaves.  Those leaves are usually a myriad of colors, I picked three!  I used Pumpkin Pie, Peekaboo Peach, and Crushed Curry.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Pumpkin Pie with a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Very Vanilla on top.  The wood pile piece is cut from the "Wood Texture" Designer Series Paper (DSP), it measures 1-1/4" x 4-1/2".  The layer behind it is cut 1-3/8" x 4-5/8" from a scrap piece of Pumpkin Pie.

I stamped the leaves using Crushed Curry, Peekaboo Peach, and Pumpkin Pie ink.  I die cut the leaves using the "Seasonal Layers" dies and I set them in place with a tiny piece of Dimensional on the large spot just above the stem.  It was just enough to raise it and hold it in place.  I lined up the leaves with the stamped image.  That was it. I didn't add any words. I'm not sure what occasion I wanted to use this card for.  I'll add that when I need the card.  It's a wonderful masculine card!  Great for Father's Day, masculine get well, masculine sympathy, masculine birthday or thinking of you!

A Painted Petals and Butterfly Thinlit Mother's Day Card

You will never guess where I saw this card!!!  If you said Pinterest, you are right!  I seem to spend a lot of time there. Though I am not always looking at cards, I'm looking at gardening, beading, and decorating stuff too!!!  But mostly cards!!! LOL

This card was made by Deb at Stampladee.  Her card was a thank you card but I thought I would make a Mother's Day card.

I didn't add the Strawberry Slush thick baker's twine to the butterfly because I don't have any more twine at all.  I thought I had some but I either misplaced it or ran out.  I will be ordering some soon.

The set used here is the Painted Petals set.  The flowers were stamped using Strawberry Slush and the leaves were done using Pistachio Pudding.  I also stamped the word with the Pistachio Pudding.  The words are from the All Holidays retired set.  I don't often get rid of my word sets.

I didn't add the gold dots but I think I will be doing that after I get done with this post.  The card looks okay in person but looking at it on the screen here it does need that punch of gold.

I used the new Butterflies thinlit die.  I LOVE it.  Easy way to use the intricate dies is to put a piece of waxed paper down on your cutting plate (waxed side down), then the card stock, then another piece of waxed paper (waxed side up) and then the die.  Run it through your Big Shot and tape the cut pieces off if any are still attached.  SO quick and SO easy.  That method has made me LOVE the intricate dies again!!!

I also added some shimmer mist to the butterfly but it didn't show up in the photo.  But that's okay, you get the idea.

This was a super fun and easy card to make.  I think I make a few more of these since they were so quick and easy.  This would make a wonderful birthday card, thinking of you card, thank you card, and a get well card too!!!  Such a fun card!

Serene Silhouettes

Did you ever buy a stamp set on a whim and when you started playing with it you knew you made a wonderful choice?  That is how it was with this Serene Silhouettes set.  I wasn't sure why I bought it but once I started playing with it I was glad I bought it.

When I was looking at it in the catalog I had notebook covers in mind but now that I got to play with it for a few minutes I knew I would be using it for much more than just notebooks.  This is an extremely versatile set and I can see myself making LOTS of different cards with it and for different occasions too!

For my card today I used Regal Rose for the base.  On top of that I had cut a 5-3/8" x 4-1/8" piece of Basic Black card stock.  The white piece is cut 5-1/4" x 4".  I stamped the butterfly circle image three times on it.  I didn't even use the Stamp-a-ma-jig, if you can believe that.  I know I was shocked!!!

After I stamped the three images I taped them together.  Then I added a piece of black ribbon around them and taped them in place on top of the base of the card.  If you don't have ribbon, you can always use a piece of black card stock.

The image was stamped on a piece of Whisper White card stock that measured 3-1/2" x 2" using Regal Rose ink.  I stamped it once and moved it slightly and stamped it again.  You will see that better if you click on the photo.  That piece was set on top of a piece of Basic Black measuring 3-5/8" x 2-1/8".  And those two layers were set on top of a piece of Regal Rose that was cut 3-3/4" x 2-1/4".

I finished off the card by adding a few pearls.  Three of them on the flowers.  Again, you'll have to click on the photo to see that closer. There's three small pearls on the corner of the layered image and three larger ones on the circle image piece.

This was a very fun and easy card to make!!

Dum Dum Sucker Tutorial

Isn’t this just the cutest thing? I made this earlier this month at our quarterly Stamp Share. I need to give you a little information first so you’re not confused. My upline (manager/boss) is Sue. And Sue’s upline is Terri. Terri is the one who puts the Stamp Share on each quarter. It is an absolutely fabulous time. We have demo’s and sharing of ideas. There’s always card samples and 3-D samples. Terri demonstrates some fun projects. There’s a business meeting part and a fabulous and fun Make & Take at the end. This item was January’s Make & Take.

ALL products here are by Stampin’ Up!
You need some Real Red, Regal Rose and Whisper White card stock.
Real Red and Regal Rose markers
Scallop, 1-1/4" Round and a 1-3/8" Round punch
Pink Brad
2 Gold Brads
Flower punch from the "Three for You" kit
Mat Pack
Piercing Tool
Dum Dum Sucker
Ribbon
Dimensionals

You will need a piece of red card stock cut 6-1/2" x 2".

Score this piece at 3/4", slide it over and score at 2-3/4".

Turn and repeat scoring on other end. Turning it allows you to have both ends come out the exact same size.

Fold the two scored lines that are closest to the center inward. The two that are closest to the edges fold them outward. Setting it upright the paper will look live a "V"

Bring the top pieces together. Taking the piercing tool and the foam piece from the Mat Pack, poke holes two holes for the gold brads. These brads hold the piece closed. You can add one brad but wait until you have added the scallop to the sucker stick to close the other brad.
The stamp set used here is the new "Happy Heart Day." SO cute and versatile.

Punch out two red scallops, one Regal Rose (1-3/8") and after stamping your flower image line up the round 1-1/4" punch and punch out the circle. Stamping the image first allows you to have your image better centered. Color in your flower. Affix the flower to the Regal Rose and affix that piece to the red scalloped piece. Set one red scalloped piece on your work surface. Add the Dimensionals and expose the tape. Set the sucker stick on top of the scalloped piece and sandwich it in between the finished scalloped piece. Insert the candy part of the sucker into the opening of the red scored piece. Hold it shut with the brad.

This one used the cute tag punch in the set. It was punched out in white and layered on Regal Rose card stock. The two pieces were taped together and then slipped under the "cuff" of the red scored piece. Isn’t that just the cutest idea? Terri is SO creative. Ok now tie on your bow and it’s ready to set upright.

Then Terri showed us how to use this project for other occasions by using double-sided decorative paper. She cut the sides a bit to make it more of a flowerpot shape and now it’s a perfect gift for someone’s desk. It can be used as a little thank you, birthday and thinking of you gifts. It can also be used as a place card and these would be fabulous for bridal or baby showers.

I can't even begin to tell you how lucky I am to be a part of Sue's group which allows me to be a part of Terri's group. I am among some VERY talented people. Both groups are a wealth of information and let me tell you how wonderful it is to be among a group full of wonderful talented people who are all "Minnesota Nice." Even the ones who come from the Dakotas, Wisconsin and Iowa!!! LOL We converted them!!! LOL
