Petal Park, Toffee Coffee, Weekend Project, Stampin' Up!

Hello, I'm so happy you found your way here today. I have a fun and easy project for you to make. It's a "Toffee Coffee" label. And the recipe too!!! I made this for a friend of mine and I hope she loves the beverage as much as my hubby and I do. I did use my computer for the printing and I used the "Petal Park" set for the flowers.

The jar is what the instant coffee came in. After using all the coffee, I removed the label and washed out the jar and lid. I got this coffee at the Dollar Tree. I know it's cheaper to buy a larger container at the grocery store but I was at the Dollar Tree and I had just ran across the recipe so I thought I'd give it a try with the smaller amount in case it's not good since we don't usually drink instant coffee in our home.

I measured the space the label would be taped to so I could adjust the size of the words so it would look nice.  I did have to print it out several times (on draft mode) to get the size right. Plus on the back the ingredients and instructions are listed.

Once I got the label part to size, I stamped the flowers from the "Petal Park" set using black Memento ink and then coloring them in using my light Balmy Blue and light Daffodil Delight Blends pens.

The width of my label was a bit smaller than my packing tape so I was able to get the label on a piece of tape and affixed it to the jar. If it wouldn't have been wide enough I was prepared to use clear contact paper.

After I got the label on I added the Toffee Coffee mixture and put the cover on. And that was it.

Now you probably want the recipe, right?  Well, it's pretty simple. It's equal parts. I make mine by the cup. I used a cup of instant coffee, a cup of coffee creamer and a packed cup of brown sugar. I put it in the blender to make it even smoother and less grainy. I put mine in a large bowl with some food safe silicone packets because the brown sugar is moist and I don't want any mold to grow. I don't know if it would but I'm not going to take any chances.

I think these would be great for gifts and I'm playing around with the idea of selling them at the fall craft fair.  Now go make some and give them to your friends or for yourself!!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's fun project!

Touches of Texture, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Get Well Tissue Holder, Weekend Project

About 500 emails ago (in a few days) I was asked about a tissue holder that I had posted on my blog almost 10 years ago.  Apparently the links to the instructions are no longer available.  Some people take down their blogs when they are no longer into whatever it was that got them starting on that blog.  Here it was stamping. It's sad that happens because the blog doesn't cost anything and it can be left open for others to go to now and then to get inspired or to find instructions.  I have no intentions of no longer blogging and should I decide to, I will leave my blog up.  Anyway, I knew I didn't have the tissue holder, it's been a long time since it was created and I don't have room to keep everything I make.  I probably gave it to someone who was under the weather.  You can see my tissue holder here.  It's the one I made back in 2008.

So, I updated it using current paper and in 10 years it will be obsolete too! LOL  But the instructions will be here so that's a positive, right?
To make this tissue holder you will need a purse pack of tissue. I had gotten mine at the Dollar Tree a while back. I don't know if they still carry these but I'm sure you can find some at Target or Wal-Mart.  I am not sure if they vary by size so you may need to adjust your holder if necessary.  I will be giving you measurements for the one you see here.

You will need tissue, lip balm, card stock, decorative paper, stamped image, markers or whatever it is you like to color with, Snail tape, tiny half pearls, ribbon and scissors.

I cut the base of the holder 3-1/2" x 10".  I scored it at 4-1/2" and 5-1/2".

Next I cut the layers.  I cut 3 pieces of Pool Party card stock that measured 4-1/8" x 3-1/8".  One goes on top, one goes on the inside top and the third one goes on the inside bottom. The decorative paper is from the "Delightful Daisy" paper pack and measures 4" x 3".

The image I used came from the "Touch of Texture" set.  I colored in the image using markers.  I added some Wink of Stella to the flowers and then I added the tiny half pearls.  I trimmed that piece to 3-3/8" x 1-3/4".  The Pool Party layer behind it measures 3-1/2" x 1-7/8".

The words are from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set and I used the Modern Label punch. I punched one end and then I slid the punched piece in so I could just punch the other end only.  You do this by flipping the punch over and sliding the punched piece in between the blades so you can see the words and how far you need to punch.

I set the image and the words on using Snail tape.

I punched two holes in the top part of the holder. You may need to punch the holes more than once, moving it over to make it larger, depending on your ribbon size.  I used 3/8" ribbon and a 1/4" circle punch.  A regular old fashioned paper punch is the correct size.

I uses Snail tape to affix the tissue pack and the lip balm.  I was going to use glue dots but they are a little stronger than I needed. I didn't want the holder ruined while trying to remove the items.

These are very fun and simple to make. I think they would be fun to sell at the fall craft fair!

Paper Clay Pumpkin Decor

I just wanted to share with you what else I do in my "spare" time!!!  I've been working on things for the upcoming fall craft fairs.  This is one of the items I made. Actually, this is a one of a kind item.  I am making snowmen like this but not with the Halloween theme. I took a break from the snowmen to make a Halloween one.

I like how it turned out. I was tempted to keep it but I decided it's going to go on the table with the rest of the stuff I'm selling!  I can't keep everything.  I tried that and my house is full!

Thank you for looking, I will have a card posted later today.

Have a wonderful day!

Blossom Builder and Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Bath Salts Gift Bag Weekend Project

While looking though my notebooks, I ran across a recipe for bath salts.  I have not made any in a long time.  They are super easy to make and the link to my easy recipe can be found below.

For my bag I used the "Birthday Bouquet" decorative paper. I took a 5/8" x 10-1/2" strip of Mint Macaron card stock to make a band for the bag.  I didn't like the idea of stapling the bag closed.  It's too pretty of a paper to do that plus the paper will probably rip when someone opens it.  I embellished the band with a flower and leaf from the "Blossom Builder" Thinlit set. I also cut the heart out from the "Mini Treat Bag" Thinlits. I cut the Mint Macaron and Whisper White at the same time.  I trimmed the edges of the white so it would have a nice border around the heart.  Next I took the "My Friend" from the "Six Sided Sampler" set and stamped the white heart. I taped the two hearts together and added a flower.

Next I mixed up a batch of bath salts.  You can pour as much
as you want in the baggie.  I get my baggies at Wal-Mart in their craft section.  My bag was a little large so only one fit in the gift bag.  I usually make smaller ones. That way you can say something like "empty the entire contents of one bag into your bath water, relax and enjoy".  Now I will have to change mine to "add one Tablespoonful to your bath water, relax and enjoy."

When you make these, it's best to include an ingredients list and directions.  Especially if you make them to sell.  A tip on making the bath salts.  Use a glass bowl to mix it in.  Plastic bowls will hold the smell of the fragrance oils and some of them will start to "melt" the plastic.  They are fine in the plastic bags after they've been thoroughly mixed. I don't know how long they will keep in the plastic bag.  Most people use them soon after they receive them, so I have no feedback on that part.

You can find my recipe here.  Sometimes you can find a good price on Epsom Salts at Walgreen's, but I usually get mine at Wal-Mart.

Have fun making these!  They make great gifts for friends, teachers, customer appreciation, hostess appreciation, co-workers, and stocking stuffers.

Thank you SO much for visiting today,

Home for Christmas Candy or Gift Card Holder

Today I thought I would give those candy/gift card holders another try.  These are so simple and quick to make. But yet I am struggling with color!!  The Santa in the second photo is cute but I don't like the holder colors. I'm usually good at putting colors together but I'm REALLY struggling here.

The top photo is done using decorative paper from the 6" x 6" Merry Moments paper stack.  It's got lots of color.  I like it better than the bottom one but it seems like there's something missing.
I do like how simple these are to make.  When I was really bummed about the one in the bottom photo, I didn't think twice about grabbing some more papers and making another one.  They go together so quickly.   Maybe I'm just trying too hard. I'll probably keep trying until I find one that I REALLY like!  They will make great gifts!!!

You can find the instructions for these here.

Thank you SO much for stopping by today,

Garden in Bloom Mini Notebooks

Aren't these cute?  I used the "Garden in Bloom" stamp set to make them.  Plus I used the newest "In Colors".

These little notebooks measure 2-1/2" x 2-1/2".  I have a Rubi Coil machine that punches the  holes 4:1, which means there's 4 holes per inch.  I have lots of coils at home so when I was shopping for a machine, I had to make sure I got the one with the right pitch or all of those coils would be worthless. I often save my copier paper that was only printed on part of it.  As long as there's 2-1/2" left, I cut it up and set it aside for notebooks.  It's fun to make these little notebooks. I often sell them at the craft fairs.  People LOVE buying stocking stuffers.

The colors I used here are Watermelon Wonder, Mint Macaron, and Delightful Dijon.  On the Watermelon Wonder I also used Calypso Coral behind the butterfly.  On the Mint Macaron one I used Smoky Slate.  And on the Delightful Dijon I used Hello Honey.

I went to the Color Lab and entered in one of the new In Colors and had the site find a color that would compliment it.  I got lazy and didn't want to rifle through the card stock to see what would match.  This is a free site to use to coordinate your colors.  I had not used the site in a while, mostly because I can usually figure out the colors myself.  Plus they had included in the list all the retired colors.  Now there is a drop down menu for just the current colors or you can pick by color group, or all colors including retired.  I like that site SO much better now that they separated the colors like that.  I will probably use it more now.  If you are not familiar with it, go to the link at the beginning of this paragraph and check it out.  I think it will be come your new coordinating buddy!!!

You can also see some cute snowman ones I did a few years back.  I always sell out of them at the craft fairs.  Click here to see the snowman notebooks.

These make great Hostess Appreciation gifts, Customer Appreciation gifts and of course, stocking stuffers!!

I use to sell the notebooks but that was before I had a million other things do to, but if you REALLY must have some, you can contact me.  Look to the right sidebar and find the icon that reads "Got a Question". My email address is found there.

K-Cup Holder using Flower Shop and English Garden Weekend Project

Good day to you!  Today I have a fun project for you.  It's a K-Cup holder gift box/tote.  I used the new Watermelon Wonder card stock and ink to make this.  I wish I would have put a bit more thought into this and found a color closer to the tops of the K-Cups.  I thought about adding a flower to the top and a glue dot but you aren't suppose to remove the covers and I thought the glue dot may pull the cover off.  Or leave some residue behind, so I left them plain.

I found the instructions at the Scor-Pal web site.  You can see it by clicking here.   I did not print out the template.  I just measured by using the measurements along the sides of the template.  I did run into a couple of minor problems with mine.  First I forgot to punch the oval before I assembled the box.  DUH!!!  So what I ended up doing was I assembled the decorative paper on top of a piece of Mossy Meadow card stock, found center and punched the oval.  I then glued the piece in place and took my craft knife and cut out the oval by hand.  I used an emery board and sanded the edges to smooth them out a bit.  Problem solved.

Now for the other issue.  I wanted to wrap the Mossy Meadow card stock around the holder.  I didn't have any 12" x 12" card stock so I did have to add a panel to the back.  It barely shows.  The decorative paper hid most of it.  My decorative paper is from the "English Garden" pack.  I cut the strip just a 1/4" thinner than the card stock.  I wrapped it around the box.  It didn't fit either! UGH!  So what I ended up doing was turning the decorative paper so the seams ended up in the front.  I covered that 3/8" opening with a Watermelon Wonder punched flower.  Then I stamped a flower using the "Flower Shop" set and I set it in place on top of the other flower with a Dimensional.  I punched out a Mossy Meadow flower and cut a few petals off to use as leaves.  I added a big pearl to the center of the flower and I was happy with that part of the box.

The top still needed something so I added a ribbon.  You can always add a tag to make it as a gift for a birthday, get well, or thinking of you.

These are VERY fun to make and if you make it like the instructions show, you shouldn't encounter any of the issues I did.  :o)  I always have to step outside the box, don't I?  LOL  Have fun with these!  I think they would make great Hostess Gifts, Customer Appreciation Gifts, a Stamp Camp project, or a Craft Fair item!

A Bloom with Hope Notebook Weekend Project

When I have scraps of copier paper I cut them into 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" squares and set them aside until I have enough to make a notebook.  I know, talk about being frugal!!!  I love making these notebooks. I've been making them for many years.  I always end up with a bunch to just sell off at the craft fair.  It's a fun way to make a little money out of scraps.  I also make a lot of them to give away too!

I ran across this flower in my big mess on the counter behind my worktable.  I'm SO glad it's behind my back because I would hate to look at it day after day!!! It's such a mess!!!  I need to spend a little time and clean up that whole counter.

Anyway, back to my fun project.  I don't remember when I had stamped and colored in this flower but it was fun to find it and use it so quickly!  I punched the image to 1-1/4" and I punched the Hello Honey card stock layer at 1-3/8".  I glued the layers together because these notebooks end up in purses and the tape might not hold.

I have a RubiCoil binding machine. I've had this machine for about 15 years now!!! It's been a good machine. The spring did break in it and I called and ordered new ones and replaced both of them at the same time.  I have made TONS of notebooks and cookbooks with this machine and it's paid for itself a long time ago!!!  Once I punch the copier paper and the front and back cover, I run the coil through the holes and turn the ends so it stays in place.  The back cover is usually made using a piece of shirt board.  I use to use card stock but it didn't make sense.  Why use the colored card stock on the back when I had all of this shirt board.  It's the thickness of a cereal box and makes the notebook feel more firm.

These are great little sellers at the craft fairs.  This one probably won't make it to the craft fair, I have someone in mind for it!!

A Lotus Blossom Note Holder

While surfing the net I ran across a note holder on a German web site run by Jana, you can see it here.  I liked the concept.  I dug out a scratch pad and measured the card stock from that.  I just laid the note pad on the card stock and marked it with a pencil and cut it to fit.  Then I marked how thick it was and scored the fold lines.  I should have taken another photo to show you the folds.  I used a half sheet of card stock and I lined up the left edge with the note pad and then I marked where the scores would go.  I was going to cut off the card stock to be flush with the back of the note pad but I decided to go ahead and score it so it folded over on top of the note pad.  It only goes about half way across the pad front on the inside.

Once I got the folded thing down, I glued the note pad to the card stock.

I added a small piece of Blackberry Bliss decorative paper along the edge.  Then I stamped my flower using the Lotus Blossom set.  I used Old Olive for the stem.  I layered the image using some Blackberry Bliss card stock.  I wanted matching ribbon but I didn't have any so I used the Rich Razzleberry Blendabilities and I colored in the ribbon.  I think it matched rather well in person.  The light reflects a bit differently on the photo and it looks a little off!

The words are from a custom made stamp I had done many years ago.  I LOVE making note cards and note holders and when you make them, you just HAVE to have a "notes" stamp!!!

Snowman Hat Centerpiece and Bed Spring Snowman Tree Topper

Today I was at a craft fair.  I'm only doing two of them this year.  I had to cut back because my time is just being consumed by other things and I don't seem to find that time to work on crafting anymore.  It's sad because I do love it.  I still love polymer clay and I did get to play with it a little.  I made a few angel and some other tree ornaments, but nothing like I wanted to make.  I really need to get into a regular routine where I have set days to play with clay, beads, and other things.  I have SO many supplies and I really need to use them!!!

I just LOVE this hat centerpiece that I made.  I had seen one on Pinterest and I just had to make one.  I went to the Goodwill to get a belt and an LP record.  Who has LP's anymore???  We didn't.  Funny thing about this LP, it's a Christmas one.  Like it mattered.  But if you look on the bottom you'd see the Christmas songs listed!  I took a coffee can and glued it to the LP.  Then I spray painted them after the glue dried.  I asked hubby to grab a can of black spray paint when we were at WalMart.  Does this look like black to you?  Me either!!! LOL  It was a dark metallic brown.  I just decided to go with it since I didn't want to go back to the store to get another can of paint. And what was I going to do with the brown can? So I decided to just use it. And I do like how the color turned out.

I dug through my Christmas stuff and found some greens and other fun things to put around the hat.  I cut and glued the belt to fit and then started decorating the hat. The cute snowman head was from a pick I had gotten several years ago at Joann's.  It was in my stash.  I had fun gluing things all around the hat.

And my second item is a cute snowman tree topper.  A coworker gave me a bed spring she had gotten at some antique show.  I had been talking to her about them and she found one and got it for me.  What a sweetie!  I showed her what I did with it and she said she should have picked me up more!!!  I'm kind of glad she didn't.  I'm not sure I wanted to make a bunch of these.  Plus I know I don't have a bunch of snowman heads.  I had to decapitate a snowman just to get this head.  I should have taken a photo of the body!!! It's kind of spooky.  Maybe I should set it outside on Halloween!!! LOL  Anyway, to make this, I just sprayed the bed spring white.  Once that was dry, I glued the snowman head on top and then white pompoms on the front.  Yup, as simple as that!!!

So this is why I have no card to post today!

Craft Fair

I am getting ready for the yearly craft fair and I thought I would show you one of the items I will be selling.  I have a lot of projects going on and I'm trying to finish up at least one each night.  Tonight I was able to finish the "believe" necklaces.  I probably should have had some Christmas type background card for them but I didn't.  I may have to look into that for next year.

These are such fun necklaces.  Behind the Santa hat is stamped a snowflake. I should have slid the hat over so you could see it.  I thought the center of the piece needed something.  If the hat should swing or move off to one side I thought it would be fun to see something there instead of a blank area.  I used Swarovski crystals in red, green, and clear.  And I used a 20" Sterling silver-filled (not plated) neck chain.

I hope these will be a good seller!!  I did have a lot of fun making them and I can always use them as gifts too!

Thank you for visiting today.  The stamping project will follow.

A Flower Patch Gift Pack of Greeting Cards

Don't you just LOVE the "Flower Patch" set? And you don't even need the dies that go along with it.  You can just stamp without them.  Though I do love the dies too but for this card that I found I didn't.  I do not know who the designer of this card is but if you do, please let me know so I can give them credit and a link back.  You can view the original cards here.

I was only going to make one card but when thought about it more, a pack of cards sounded like a great gift idea.  SO I decided to make 5 cards since I needed one for my stash!!

The card stock colors used here are Crisp Cantaloupe, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder and Whisper White.  The inks are all the same colors with the following added, Pear Pizzazz, Lost Lagoon, Crushed Curry, and Tangerine Tango.  The words were done using the black Memento ink. My new favorite black ink.  I still like StazOn but this stuff washes off better.
First you stamp the large flower, then the center, then the stem, and finally the words.  These went so fast and now I'm wishing I would have made several sets because they went together so quickly.  The word set I used for the top image is from the "Wetlands" set.  The words on the bottom set are from my favorite "Sincere Salutations" set.  It's got all  the words you need for the front of your cards and they are the perfect size.  I made a birthday, thinking of you, thank you, and a get well card.

Oh and in the center of each flower is a rhinestone.  I just love these cards and they were SUPER easy and quick to make too!  Now I'm going to box mine up in a clear box, wrap a ribbon around them and toss them in my box of stuff I'm selling at the fall craft fair!!!

Mixed Bunch Birthday Card Gift Set

Today I was working on some craft fair and gift items.  I had gotten some boxes from my sister and I HATE to throw them away.  She hates to see things like that thrown away so she brings me in on the act!!  She works in a print shop and after stuff sits around for several months it is determined useless and is recycled. Sometimes it gets recycled to my home!!  I had gotten 12 of these gift boxes and they were too big for cards but I made them work!

First I made my cards using the new in colors decorative paper pack and the Mixed Bunch flower and punch.  The words are from the  "Simply Sketched" set.  The boxed set has one of each color card in it, so you get a little variety in colors.

Once I got the cards made I took the plastic cover off the box and added a piece of white to the bottom of the box.  Don't ask why, I just thought it looked nice.  Then I set an envelope in the box and measured the open space on the top and side.  I took a piece of cardstock and cut it to the size I needed and scored the piece.  I folded the scores and set the "u" shaped piece in place in the box.  I thought the top piece was a bit too big to leave empty so I went on the computer and printed out "Birthday Greeting Cards and 4 envelopes".  I had printed it out on a sheet of label paper and cut them on the paper cutter.  I stuck them on top of the piece and it looked SO professional.  I plan on selling some of them at the fall craft fair and a few of them are for gifts.

It was a fun and nice way to use those boxes.  I am not a big fan of mass producing.  And I thought 48 cards was a BIG production for me!!!  I have never done that before and don't plan to do it again.  Well, unless I get my hands on more gift boxes.  I had those in the closet for a few years so I don't see that happening anytime soon!

Air Freshener Gifts Weekend Project

Today I wasn't sure what I was going to do for my blog post.  But as I was looking through my emails I saw something that was not only fun but would make great last minute inexpensive gifts.  I found these fun and easy air fresheners.  I looked in the cupboard and found a canning jar and a ring.  Now with the temps in the 20's here it was impossible to go outside and spray paint the ring white like the instructions suggested.  Sometimes I think these types of projects should be offered in the summer or early fall months so those of us who in colder climates can make these things the way the instructions show.  But since I don't live where it is warmer and I'm NOT going to spray paint inside my home, my ring is just going to have to be the original silver color.  The ribbon I added around the outside of it does help to hide it though.  And personally, I like the silver look.  I'm not overly fond of the gold ones, they do have a cheaper look to them but the silver one I can live with.

Now if you don't have the time to mix up a batch of anything smelly for the inside you can go to the Dollar Tree or your local dollar store and find some bath salts (that smell nice) and use them in the jar instead.  This way you don't have to spend much money on any of the ingredients.  The baking soda is pretty inexpensive but the essential oils can get a bit pricey depending on which fragrances you use.

Here I used some bath salts that I had mixed up a while back.  I kept them in a sealed jar so they are as fresh smelling as the day I made them.

After layering my decorative paper on a couple pieces of card stock for thickness, I punched some holes in them and set them inside the lid.  I added the bath salts and then the ribbon and the jar was done.  SO easy, SO simple, SO cute and SO inexpensive!!!  Oh, I forgot to mention that I got the idea and basic instructions for these here.

You can also make these for Hostess gifts, Customer Appreciation gifts and even as a Make N Take.  And of course they are great for Craft Fairs.

Now go make some yourself!

Moonlit Nativity

This is one of the items I had in the craft fair.  It's a nativity set made out of clay and put in a jar.  I know, stating it like that doesn't make it sound very glamorous.  I added a spring of some green leafy thing that sat behind the trio.

It doesn't show up in the photo but at the craft fair I had black circles of card stock over the top of the jar lid so the light would come on. The lids are solar powered.  And boy do they shine bright!

I had a lot of fun making these.  Making things from clay is one of my true crafting loves!! Yes, even more than beading or stamping.  I have neglected my clay for a long time and I've been slowly getting back into it.  I was playing with a fun pair of holiday earrings I will show you in a few days. I have not finished them yet.  I got as far as going to the bead shop to get the other components I needed and it's just sitting there waiting for it's turn to be finished.  So when I get them done I'll post it on here.

Back to my jar.  The clay characters are glued in and some "snow" was put on the bottom and then that green leaf.  The molding of the characters took a while.  Well, not really. To make one of each doesn't take that long but when you make a bunch it does take a while.  But it's worth the time invested to me.  These were fun to make and I actually have a few left.  I made WAY too many but one never knows from year to year what sells and what doesn't.  These were a success.  I did sell a lot of them, I call that a success!

I just thought I would share one of my clay creations with you!

Added on November 10. 2012.  I had gotten the lids from a wholesale company.  They are called "Moonshiner" Solar Powered jar lids.

A Pot Full of Snowmen

Well, aren't these little guys just the cutest?  I found them on Pinterest.  They even came along with the instructions on how to make them too!  Such a deal!  So with the upcoming craft fair (this weekend) I thought I would make 4 of them.  I chose 4 because that was how many terracotta planters I had on hand.

I got a little creative with the eyes and buttons.  I made them using polymer clay.  I would have made the noses out of clay too but after checking the situation over I decided that they would be too difficult to insert in the face due to the tightness of the knit. So I went with the painted toothpicks.  I did have problems with pushing them in. They needed a bit of a push and my fingernails would dig into the wood and gouge the paint.  I had to pay special attention to where my fingernails were while pushing the noses in.  After ruining the first two I caught on!!

I was at Michael's this past weekend and picked up some colored gloves they had on sale for $1.00 each plus I got an additional 25% off my purchase so the profit margin goes up!!  I was hoping to find some white ones but I did need colored ones for the hats.  Yup, those knitted hats are the fingers of the gloves cut off and rolled up (I hot glue while I roll) and they are glued in place.  The snowman in the back with a top hat, well, that I made from felt.  I used my 1-1/2" and 1" Sizzix circle die to cut them out.  I wanted perfect small circles and that is what I got!!

I am still up in the air about the bottom part of the pot.  I think I'm going to stencil a few small snowflakes on there.  It definitely need something there.  I need to run a couple of errands but when I get back I will be fixing that issue and adding these to the room with the rest of the stuff I need to price!  I HATE that part!!  And I can finish up the other 3 (which I have not even started).  I've been giving some thought to the number of snowmen.  This one is cute for a family of 5.  I think I may make a couple with 4 snowmen in it.

Mini Notebooks

Today I was working on some mini notebooks for the fall craft fair.  Which is 8 days away!  YIKES!!  I'm not ready.  I'm NEVER ready!  When I get home from work I'm going to finish up the pile of notebooks I have to do and Saturday I'm going to be working on clay.  I'll be sure to show you what I'm making!

These little notebooks are perfect stocking stuffers.  They measure 2-1/2" x 2-1/2".  The fit in the purse or car nicely.  They don't take up a lot of space either!!  These are usually a big hit at craft fairs.  The only bad thing is, you have to make a ton of them to see the bucks!!! LOL  But I almost always sell out of these so I'm hoping this year is the same!  Wish me luck on them.  If there happens to be any left I'll put them in my web store at a great price!!

I get a questions about these notebooks so I thought I would answer them here for you.  The notebooks are constructed of card stock on the outside and copier paper on the inside.  I have a RubiCoil machine that punches the holes and I add the coils by hand (that machine costs WAY too much).  I stamp images or use stickers or whatever I find that looks good on the front and go with it!  And I never discuss what I charge for them or anything else I make for craft fairs.  What one item priced at one craft fair doesn't always sell for that at another craft fair.  You need to know what the market value in your area is and price your items accordingly.

So I'm off to punch more copier paper.  I have stacks of it in my workroom.  Every time I have scraps I cut them in 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" and set them aside.  I wish I would have punched all the piles I made, it would have made tonight's batch go a lot quicker!!!  Live and learn.  I just wish I would remember the "learn" part!!! LOL

Stylin' Snowfolk Candy Bar Wrapper

Ever time a new snowman set comes out I have to try to figure out how to use it on a candy bar wrapper. Cold Play was one of my favorites for doing this and now the Stylin' Snowfolk works too.  It's a lot like the Cold Play set except you get the snowman body.  And this one has a lot more parts for the snowman. You can even make a snowlady!

I like this set for the smaller candy bars.  I used the .45 oz bars for this one.  And since it's so close to Halloween, I was able to get them on sale!!  Ya gotta LOVE that!

I bet you'd like the measurements to the card stock, huh?  Well, I'm more than happy to share them with you so you can make these for your friends, for parties or you can even have the kiddies help you with them for their school friends!

You will need a snowman stamp set and a small chocolate bar, of course.  Then you will need a piece of white card stock cut 3-1/8" wide x 2-7/8" long.

Next you will need to score the card stock.  On the 3-1/8" side you will need to score it at it at 5/8", 1", 2-1/8" and 2-1/2".

Now before you fold the scores, stamp your images.  Then fold the score lines.  Wrap the card stock around the candy.  I glued mine in place.  I also wrapped the card stock around the candy bar tightly which distorted the shape of the rectangle the sleeve creates. But it did help keep the candy bar in there better.  If you don't wrap it tighter it could slip out easy.  The distortion is not that much and you will probably be the only one to notice it.  Now I also wanted to tell you why I used glue instead of tape.  I felt the glue would hold better.  Once you glue it, remove the candy bar and use your bone folder inside to help the glue adhere better and quicker.  Put the candy bar back in and move on to the next one.  I know you'll make more than one!!!

These are fun to make and very simple too!

Have fun with the instructions!

A Scentsational Season Note Holder

A while back I had gotten some fun note holders at the Dollar Spot at Target.  The covers had images on them I didn't care for. One had Monster's Inc. characters and the other had the vehicles from the movie Cars.  SO I just open up the holder and rip out the inside holder. I usually use the paper for scratch paper because it never matches the papers I use on the front.  They are kind of a pale peach paper.  I do end up using it up so it doesn't go to waste.

Here I covered the outside using the Be of Good Cheer decorative paper.  I liked the strips in this pack.  I cut it to fit around the outside.  Then I added a piece of 30# copier paper to the inside to cover the edges of the decorative paper.  I also wrapped a piece of that copier paper around the inside piece that holds the note paper.

I took the tiny little gingerbread stamp from the Jolly Bingo Set and stamped him in the bottom corner of each piece of paper.  I don't usually stamp the papers inside the holder but this time I did.  After finishing I reminded myself not to do that again!!!  It took a bit of time but it wasn't grueling.

I made the belly band by taking a piece of Very Vanilla cut 11" x 1-1/4" and wrapped it around the box and glued it at the ends.  Then I took a piece of Cherry Cobbler and did the same thing but I also glued it to the Very Vanilla.

I stamped 3 of the Scentational Season gingerbread boys and cut them out with the gingerbread boy die.  Talk about easy!  I don't think the front would have had 3 gingerbread boys on it if I would have had to cut them out by hand.  I glued two of them to the front of the note holder and one to the Belly Band.  I thought the sides of the belly band looked a bit sparse so I stamped a couple of peppermint candies from the Jolly Bingo Set and those I had to cut out by hand.  I glued them in place and liked what I saw but the front looked like it still needed something. I had to be careful of what I added because I needed the belly band to be able to slide over it.  So I thought I would give the gingerbread boys some color by adding a bow tie and that was just what it needed.  I'll be packaging it up for the fall craft fair.  Ok, it is fall now. My how time has flown by.  The craft fair is next month at Epiphany church on Hanson Blvd. in Coon Rapids.  It is on November 3rd.  I'm SO far behind.  So tomorrow I'm probably going to post a quick to make card and work on my polymer clay.  I have some Santa's and snowmen I need to make and bake!

Dahlia Adornments Earrings Weekend Project

Today I thought I would play with the new in-color Dahlia Adornments.  When I started out I was thinking of something in the line of an embellished card but I ran across a pair of earring backs and thought the adornments would fit on them nicely and they sure did!  SO I headed for the drawer I keep my glues in and hoped that my E-6000 was not dried up!  It wasn't so off I went to my worktable.

Then the next issue was what color of earrings should I make?  All the colors in the container were so pretty but I only had one pair of earring backs!  So I opted for the Raspberry Ripple.  I know my sister is going to LOVE these!  I may even make some for the fall craft fair.  I have lots of flowers left from last catalog.  It's a great way to use them up!!  And it's not very expensive at all to do either!

You can click on the photo for a closer view.  I didn't have my big camera battery charged so I had to use the one on my phone so I wasn't able to get as close as I wanted to.  But you know what earring backs look like and you can see the flowers so I guess it worked out well enough!

You can get those earring backs at Bead Basics. Just give Jill a call at 763-717-4200 and she can get them sent out to you so you can get your earrings made for gifts and to sell.  They would also make a great Stamp Camp project, Customer Appreciation Gifts, Hostess Gifts and of course Craft Fairs.

These are fun and very easy to make too!
