Owl Punch & Delightful Dozen Tissue Box

Aren't these cute?  I found them on Pinterest.  I had pinned it to one of my boards a while back so I would remember to make them.  I thought I would make some for the fall craft fair.  Since the tissues I bought came in a package of 10, I only made 10 of them.  I have more tissues but I'll save them for another day.

There were a few things different on here than on the original tissue box.  The front of the owl was made using some retired decorative papers because I ran out of the dotted Pretty in Pink papers.  The background circle is a different color than the original.  The package is also different.  From what I could see the original holder looked like it had a boxy pocket on the inside and the top folded down and the whole thing was put in a baggie and ties shut.  The "get well soon" words from the Delightful Dozen set were done on a separate piece of card stock and that was attached to the cord that tied the baggie shut.

For the box on the ones I did I used a pattern to make an actual tissue box.  I used a pattern I had gotten on Split Coast Stampers.  It was designed by JulieHRR.  The link to that pattern is here.  There's a bit of scoring but it's easy enough.  The card stock is already 11" and you cut the short side to 4" and the rest is scoring and a bit of cutting.  And of course the punch for the tissue to come out.  Fortunately the tissue I found has the opening at the top so this pattern works out well.  You can also make the hold elongated on the back side using the pattern you can find here.

You really don't need any instructions to make the front of the holder.  It's all done using the owl punch, two oval punches, a 2" circle punch and the tiny flower punch for the cross.  The nurses cap is the front pink part of the owl turned upside down.  Cute idea, huh?  I hope these sell well at the craft fair.  It's coming up in about 2 months!!! I need to get my clay going.  Clay is my biggest seller.  I'm SO far behind on things right now.  My niece is getting married in December and the shower is in November.  My older sister and sister-in-law and me are hosting the shower and of course I'm making the invitations.  Way too many pieces on them too!!!  I will never learn.  And last night my niece also asked if I would make her wedding jewelry and the jewelry for the bridesmaids.  How could I refuse.  I just hope I have time to get them all done!!

Anyway, these tissue boxes were fun to make but there was a LOT of pieces to it. I'm glad I only made 10 and after dealing with all of those pieces I know that probably will not be making any more with this design!

Happy Thanksgiving Tissue Holder Weekend Project

First I want to wish you all a very Happy and safe Thanksgiving!

Today I have for you a fun tissue holder.  I realized I have not made a tissue holder in over a year!  That's a long time for me.  I have a tote full of these tissues and they are all waiting for holders!

This one needs a bit of finesse but my project today was to make the holder.  I LOVE these little "Swankie" packs.  I like to buy them after the holidays when they are extremely cheap.  Thus the tote full!  I had a project that I was going to use mine on but that went by the wayside so I am sitting on the tote full.  I will probably and hopefully make them up and try to sell them in the craft fair next year.

Anyway, lets talk about this tissue holder.  I LOVE the leaves on the tissue and I wanted the holder to have leaves too and what better set to use than the "Falling Leaves" set.  It's such a pretty set and I have used it a lot.  Though I think this will be the last time I use it for a long time now.  It seems that the day after Thanksgiving all of a sudden becomes Christmas and everything turns towards the Christmas theme.  Thanksgiving should be moved to the last day of November so December 1st starts the Christmas theme and it would seem right!!!

I made my own multi-colored ink pad by adding ink drops on a baby wipe.  You can also use a paper towel but dampen it first or you will use a lot more ink than you need to.

Stamp on top of the baby wipe or paper towel and then stamp on your card stock.  I stamped a bunch of leaves all over my card stock after I had cut it out.  I should have waited to score it before I stamped though.  I could see the seam lines.  Once they were folded it didn't show as much, but it wasn't as solid as I would have liked it to be.

You can do this tissue holder two ways.  It all depends on where your tissue is dispensed from.  The pattern here shows that you can also make the hole in the center.  I like this pattern, it's easy to follow and quick to put together. I get a lot of my plain tissues at The Dollar Tree.  You get 8 or 10 packs for you dollar. Such a deal.  And if selling them at a craft fair it makes for a nice profit margin!  These make great stocking stuffers too when you use the holiday theme ones!!  Though a leaf one may be nice for the guys stocking!!

Have fun with this!  And have a wonderful day!
updated 11-25-11  Oops, I forgot to include the link. It is now added and it will take you to the pattern.
And then later that day the link was once again added correctly!!!!  LOL

Thank you SO much for visiting on your holiday,
Wanda

Sweet Scoups Tissue Holder Weekend Project

WOW, two posts from me in one day and two weekend projects too! Well, I just had to finish those ice cream cone bath fizzies. I am going to try my hardest to finish up projects like that. I tend to do one for the blog and the rest just get boxed up and forgotten. And I have a LOT of boxes of forgotten items! Time to finish them up and get them out of here!

Ok, onto today's weekend project. I ran a cross a package of tissue that had ice cream cones all over it and wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with it until Stampin' Up! came out with the "Sweet Scoops" set. I cut out the holder. The pattern can be found here. I also have 10 other tissue holder posts and you can check them all out by clicking here.

I didn't put an opening in my holder yet. I am not sure if the tissue opens on the top or if it is on the top and side. I have to check it out more and then punch the hole to get at it. Anyway, that's a minor detail.

I stamped the top of the cone using Blushing Bride ink and the cone is stamped in Crumb Cake. I did score the piece and cut it according to the directions and then I stamped on it. After the stamping I folded the scores and put it all together. I'm debating if I should add a ribbon or not. I'm leaning towards not because they are not fun when they get caught up in "stuff" in your purse. And they come untied too. I guess it's just best to leave it off.

It was a fun little project and get this, I only purchased one!!! Shocker, huh? LOL

Be sure to check out my other weekend projects. Just click here to see them all, there's over 100 of them. A couple every weekend and you'll be set! LOL

Tissue Holder!

While surfing other stamping blogs on the net I found this cute tissue holder. I have made other tissue holders that are actually a box and have them posted here on my blog. This one is easier to make and just as cute.

I found the original idea for this by Sandy at Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps. There you will find the easy tutorial on how to make the tissue holder.

On Sandy's holder she attached a couple of cough drops. On mine I added a tube of lip balm. That is what Chrissy did with hers, I found it on her blog Creating with Chrissy. I liked the idea of the lip balm much better than the cough drops. It just seemed funny giving someone meds even if they are over the counter ones. I figured giving someone lip balm is less dangerous than cough drops. It's always best to play on the safer side.

I think these would be a great craft fair item. They are easy enough to make, they really don't take a lot of time and they are actually fun to do!!! These could easily be changed into some type of cold and flu emergency kit. Increase the center area by adding a bit of card stock length to the center and including a packet of Cup-a-Soup! You can use your imagination and come up with other "kits" to make with this pattern!!!

The papers I used in my tissue holder are Riding Hood Red and the decorative paper is from the "Candy Lane" package. I used Riding Hood Red ribbon on the top. I used the back side of the striped paper on the inside of the holder. I wanted something light in color there so something could be written or words stamped there.

Kleenix Brand Tissue Holder. Instructions! Weekend Project!

I have several tissue holders on my blog. Click here to view them. One holds the tissues I had gotten at the dollar store and the other one is for the tissue I had gotten at Rainbow Foods in their dollar section. And I realized that these tissues are not always available. But you can usually find Kleenix Brand tissues at almost any store. The prices were better at the dollar store and Rainbow though.

To make this tissue holder you will need to cut your card stock 7" x 8-1/2".

Scoring on the long side at 1", 2", 6-1/2" and 7-1/2". On the short side score your card stock at 2-1/4" 3-1/4" 5-1/2" amd 6-1/2". There is a photo below of where you need to cut the score lines. If you click on the photo you'll be able to see the score lines I made.

The inside flaps are clipped at an angle so they fit inside the ends better. Cut away the card stock where it's marked with an "x".

To make the opening I used the Stampin' Up! Word Window punch. I did have to fold that small flap over to get the card stock in the window are just right. You can use that edge as a guide so it will be an even window when you are done. Before I punched out the window I punched one out on scrap paper and used it as a drawing template so I knew I was getting the window centered enough. I traced it with a pencil and then I punched it out.

After punching the opening out on the pink one I stamped some leave images all over it. For the red one I used decorative paper and glued it in place with the Anywhere glue stick. I didn't think tape would hold up well in a purse. Assuming it would go in someone's purse. Though if it were me and I received one I set it out on display and it never gets used. Same with things with chocolate in them. I bet some of that chocolate is PRETTY OLD by now!!! LOL Anyway, once you have the box decorated as you like you will glue the little flap on the long side. The flap goes inside the box. But if you glue it wrong it will end up on the bottom and not be too noticable.

Once the box is glued you can add the tissue. I did open up mine and I could see some of the plastic through the window so I trimmed it up just a little. Now fold in the side flaps and finish decorating your holder.

On the pink flower one I had stamped the flower on white card stock using StazOn and colored it with a marker and a blender pen. I took my craft knife and cut a little slot in the side of the box just under the top part so I could slip a piece of ribbon in. I ran the ribbon through the inside and out the window and tied it. To my eyes the flower needed some leaves so I thought I'd put a ribbon there and it did the job!! I should have moved it up just a little bit more but this is the way it has to look. I'm always learning things for the next time I make it!!

On the red one I had to punch out the window again after gluing. Then I took the "thank you" stamp from "Seeing Spots" and stamped it three times on white card stock. I added the little red flower in the center, also from that set. I put silver brads on and realized it wasn't a good idea. In my purse "stuff" would get stuck on it or hung up on it. UGH!!! That is why I tried the pink holder!!! And here you thought I was being generous with my photos here!!! LOL

They were very fun to make and VERY simple. Scoring only takes a few minutes. I think the part that took the longest was cutting the pieces off the scored card stock! You can decorate them up as much or as little as you want or need. It all depends on what you are using it for.

For demonstrators you can put your business label on the back so your customers can have it with them when ever they are out and about!!! These are inexpensive enough to make and leave at places you visit. Like the doctor's office, dentist, stores, etc.!

If you have any problems with my instructions please feel free to email me!

For more "Weekend Projects" click here. There are over 45 of them on my blog so far. Plenty to keep you busy for a while!!! LOL

Show Me Yours!! Tissue Holder - Weekend Project

You would not believe how much trouble I had making this little tissue holder. I thought it would be simple. Well, actually it was simple but you have to write things down properly or it doesn't work out right!!!! LOL

I got these tissues at Rainbow Foods. They come 8 in a package for $1.00. Such a deal!!! These tissues measure about 2" x 4". They are NOT the same size as the Kleenix brand ones.

I thought it would be a GREAT thing for the fall craft fairs coming up. SO I got out my scrap paper and began working on the pattern. Then I got out the ruler!!! UGH! There's where it all went wrong. Working in fractions. Another big UGH!!!! And after 3 failures I finally got it figured out. I had written a measurement wrong and I followed it wrong in making my "final" copy! Oh no, it was the 4th time. Not a failure on the 3rd one, just the wrong color of card stock!!! Anyway, I got the color of card stock right (white - like that was so hard to do!) and then I used some pieces of decorative paper. Now this is a PERFECT way to use up a LOT of decorative papers and hopefully make some cash to buy the new papers that are coming out!!

I think these would not only be great for craft fairs (great profit margin in them too) but they'd make fun Hostess Gifts, Customer Appreciation Gifts, Stamp Camp and even a fun Make N Take.

Here are the measurements to my own personally design for this tissue holder. If you use these in your projects please give me the proper credit and if you're showing them on your blog I'd appreciate a link back to my blog.

To make this holder you will need to cut your card stock 6-5/8" x 7-5/8"

On the long side score as follows: 7/8", 1-3/4", 5-7/8" and 6-3/4"

On the short side score has follows: 2-1/8", 3", 5-1/8" and 6"

Cut away the areas marked with an "x".

Fold in all the score lines.

To make the slot for the tissue to come out you will need the Word Window punch. This is a punch that I will never get rid of even if it's retired. I make and sell TOO many tissue holders to let that gem slip through my fingers!!!

Fold in the smallest scored area and then fold inward once more. Take your Word Window punch and punch as close to the center of the larger area. You will need to move the punch over to the right and widen the hole there and then slide over to the left and widen it on the other end as well. You want to have about 3/4" on each side.

You will need to trim the flaps a bit on each side. Trim from the fold line outward just a little so they fit inside the holder better. Also trim the top and bottom larger flaps too. Doing this really does make the hold thing fit together better.

Once you are done with this you are ready to assemble the holder. It's VERY simple to do, it just requires taping or gluing on the thin end. You can use a bone folder and slide it inside the holder along the taped line to hold it in place. Be careful not to cut along the folds just below the window punch. I caught a bit of it in my punch. You can't fix this! If you're going to make a lot of these you may want to make a template and then trace the window on the inside of each holder. You won't regret it!!

Now decorate away. And here is where I had trouble. With the other tissue holder I did I had a large area to work in. (By the way, I didn't design that one and I was informed that the pattern is only available to demonstrators - which is too bad and is why I'm making one for you here).

So this is where the "Show Me Yours" comes into play. Make a tissue holder and email me your designs (with your first name - last initial is optional) and I will post it on my blog. It's your turn to give me some ideas!!! Now the stress is on you!!! LOL Go have fun and show me yours!!!

Swankie Halloween Hankie 2

You can view my other tissue holders here.

I got the pattern for the tissue holder here at Julie Ebersol's blog on Split Coast Stampers. Her user name on SCS is JulieHRR. I've had a lot of fun with these tissue holders. There's no end to the things you can come up on the cover for them!!! I have made TONS of these!!

On this one I used a couple of stamps I got at Michael's for a dollar each. And nope, I didn't find them in their dollar section or the round bin where they have dollar stamps. These were right up by the register when you wait in line to check out. I was just looking around and my eye spotted this huge pile of rubber stamps. Halloween rubber stamps and the shelf tag read $1.00! Well, my eyes lit up and I couldn't wait to get closer to the check out so I could look through the pile of stamps. What fun to find cute rubber stamps for only $1.00 each. I wanted to make a quick tissue holder but I just had to color in the candy corn and that took a little while to do. You can't have colorless candy corn now can you??? LOL This is one of the items I'm adding to my basket of "stuff" I'm going to let my stampers pick from when they come to stamp this month. I am getting WAY too much stuff just sitting around here and I came to the conclusion that I only need one tissue holder as a sample! SO I'm giving away a lot of my samples this month!

Swankie Halloween Hankie!

I was shopping at our local Cub grocery store on Tuesday and amongst the Halloween candy I found these adorable tissues. Well, I just couldn't pass it up! After all it was only $1.00. So sad isn't it when a box of 250 tissues is under $2.00!!! But those don't fit in this cute holder and they are not printed like these are!!! There, just justified my purchase. Think my DH will buy it??? LOL

I used the "Autumn Harvest" set by Stampin' Up! The base of the card is Pumpkin Pie card stock. I used the Pumpkin Pie ink pad and the leaf stamp from the set and made the background of the tissue box. I followed the pattern for scoring, punching and cutting. I stamped the image on watercolor paper and used my blender pen to add the colors. I masked the pumpkin and added the leaf. A pumpkin alone was cute too but the leaf just seemed to make the pumpkin pop more. I layered it on Chocolate Chip card stock and attached it to the front of the tissue box. It still looked like it needed something so I added the bow and it was just enough to finish it all off!!! Such a cute and fun item to make. I would think it would be a big hit for gift giving, craft fairs, hostess gifts, customer appreciation gifts or just to put in your purse or tote.

You can view my other tissue holders by clicking here. The original pattern was designed by Julie Ebersol, Juliehrr on Splitcoast. Click here to go to the link to her post and within that post is a link to her pattern. These are such a fun item to make.

I'm posting a bit early today. I have a group of stampers coming over tonight. I'm SO looking forward to it, it's always such fun!!

Still Messin' with the Soup Can Theme

I'm still messin' with the Soup Can theme!!! These are some fun tissue holders I made. I've made tissue holders and posted them on my blog. Just look to the right in the "labels" column and you'll see "tissue holders" and click on it. I have the link and you can just click here too. The pattern link is in the details of one of the other tissue holder posts. It's a very simple pattern. It has a bit of scoring to do but not difficult. It only takes a half a sheet of card stock so it's a pretty profitable item to make and sell!

I REALLY like this tissue holder. I think it would be great to have it go along with the soup can and the soup can card. All of it would make a wonderful gift for someone not feeling very well. I know I'm going to be making a LOT of these to sell at the fall craft fairs!

The stamp sets I used here are as follows: All in a Row, Curvy Verse, Circle of Friendship and Sincere Salutations. You will also need black ink, white embossing powder, brushed silver card stock, a scrap piece of white and black card stock, white and red card stock. A little tape and glue stick and you're good to go!!!

These are a LOT of fun to make. They are SO cute and the possibilities of what you can do with these is endless. I will post yours here if you email it to me!! Be creative and have some fun with these!!!

Weekday/Weekend Project

Since this coming Sunday is Easter, I thought I would put the "Weekend Project" in the middle of the week. I was going to omit it but then I realized that not everyone will be tied up with Easter stuff all weekend. Some of us will have some time on our hands to have some fun.

I bought the package of tissue at my local grocery store (Cub). They were a bit spendy for one package ($.99) and I figured it would go to someone VERY special so it was worth the dollar!!! Ok, not that I'm being cheap here but I can purchase a package of 10 of them for $1.00!!! Granted it's like wiping your nose with that gown paper you get at the clinic!!! But in a pinch . . . . ! Anyway, when I saw this paper I thought it looked like the Pretty in Pink color by Stampin' Up! It's such a close match!

Now on to making one for yourself! I got the pattern here.
It was created by Julie Ebersol over at Paper Trufflez. The link to the pattern is at SplitCoastStampers. Just to let you know where you will be going when you click the word "here." Okay, once you get the pattern, score the lines, punch the hole and snip away what you need to (according to the pattern) you are ready to stamp. I took the eraser end of a brand new pencil and used White Craft ink and stamped the dots. I think if you click on the picture you'll get a better view of it. After I got all the dots on I set it aside because Craft Ink takes a while to dry. Then I stamped, colored the flower and cut it out. For the leaves I used the larger flower in the "Doodle This" set. I colored it and cut out the petals I wanted to use for leaves. Now before you glue/tape (I prefer glue) your tissue holder together you will want to punch two holes for the ribbon. You REALLY should do this before you assemble it. It makes it much easier to tie the ribbon. Oh and add the ribbon before you put it together too, it's tight quarters in there when you add it last! You don't have to tie it, just string it through. Or you can just forget it completely, tie a bow and glue it on when you are done!! Assemble your tissue holder, add the flower and leaves. I wanted to use Dimensionals but it dawned on me that if it's kept in a purse the flower may get hooked on something and rip so it's best to just tape/glue it flat. Tie your bow, put the tissue inside, tuck in the bottom flap and it's ready to go! It really is a simple project! I hope you have fun with it!

Thanks for checking in!
Wanda
I was informed that the link to the tissue pattern lead to a dead end. Well, that's not good. I think I fixed it. If you can not access the pattern you can also try going here. This is the post that Julie had with the photo of her tissue holder. Just click on the photo and a link will come up in her description paragraph. The photo is in the middle of the page and it's titled "Sniffle Ensemble".

Snowman Tissue Holder

Materials needed:
Stamp set Tags & More
Black Ink Pad
White Craft Ink cartridge
Snowflake Wheel
Wheel Handle
11" x 4" Whisper White Card stock
3 3/8" x 2" Chocolate Chip Card stock
1 3/4" x 3 1/8" Bashful Blue Card stock
Tissue that opens at the top
1 1/4" Circle Punch
Dazzling Diamonds Glitter
Markers:
Bashful Blue, Pumpkin Pie,
Ballet Blue, Pretty in Pink
Dimensionals (2)
Snail Adhesive
Liquid Glue
Paper Snips

Directions:
Follow the instructions for cutting and scoring the tissue holder. Once your are done cutting out your pieces fold all score lines. Fold the line over closest to the top of the tissue box. This is where you will be punching your circle*. After the circle is punched you can assemble your box. Simply glue the long side pieces in place, glue works best for this. Insert the tissue and fold in the flaps. You are now ready to decorate your cover.
Using the Snowflake Wheel stamp the Bashful Blue Card stock and set aside to dry**. Stamp snowman on the white piece of cardstock enclosed in your kit about 1/3 up from the bottom. Color the snowman in and then cut him out. Place him on top of the dry Bashful Blue piece. Rip a piece of White Card stock and attach it to the bottom of the snowman with dimensionals. You will want to rip it to fit your snowman. This give the appearance of a snow layer. Now take the Liquid Glue and sporadically dot snowflakes to sprinkle glitter on. Your project is now complete.
The pattern is by Julie Ebersole and can be found here. These holders also make cute little gift boxes if you don't punch the hole in them!!!!!

* Be sure to punch the hole BEFORE you glue the box together.
** Craft ink dries slower than regular inks so let it dry before handling it.
