Avant-Garden, Birthday Card, 2017 Sale A Brations

I'm really starting to like this "Avant-Garden" stamp set. At first I thought it was a bit blah.  I do like the images better when I have to fussy cut another flower to lay on top.  This flower needed some depth.  But then again it's fussy cutting and I don't like doing that.  I do if I REALLY have to!!! LOL

This card was found on Pinterest by stampdog.  You can see the original card here.  I did change a few things on it but it's pretty close.  Not that I was going for a total copy or close, I just liked the flower panel the most out of the card.

I changed the color of the ribbon and the color of the base of the card.  I used Whisper White for my base.

I used Pirouette Pink and the "Falling Hearts" embossing folder.

I cut the flower panel to 2-1/4" x 4-1/2".  The Chocolate Chip layer was cut 2-1/2" x 4-3/4".  I used some left over ribbon I had because I didn't have any Mint Macaron ribbon.  I changed the leaf and stem color from Mint Macaron to Pear Pizzazz.  I did have the mint ink but the ribbon I had didn't go with it.

I did mask the flowers so I could stamp the stems.  I had used this set before with masks so I only had to cut out one more mask, so I didn't whine too much making it!!!  LOL

So, this is how it turned out.  I like it!

A What I Love and Perfect Pairings Sale-a-Brations Birthday Card

This was the first set that I knew I just had to have from the 2016 Sale-a-Brations catalog.  I liked that the flower was a 3 step.  When there's more than one step you tend to get very beautiful flowers. I wish this set would be in the catalog but it retires tonight at midnight.  It will be one I will be selling in my web store in a week or so. It depends on if I can figure out how to do it by myself!

Since it is retiring tonight, I thought I would play with it one last time.  I used Tangelo Twist ink and card stock.  My decorative paper is from last year.  I had a whole package that was hardly used so I didn't purchase the new images.

The flowered background was made using the tiny flower from the "What I Love" set.  I used Pear Pizzazz to stamp the leaves and I also used the Pear Pizzazz marker to color in the leaves.

I thought about adding a pearl to the center of the flower but I think I may just use the Daffodil Delight marker and color it in.

The words are from the "Perfect Pairings" set that also retires tonight.

This was a super easy and quick card to make. I'm going to miss these two stamp sets.

A Pedal Pusher and Happy Home Missing You 2016 Sale A Bration Card

Today I wanted to play with this fun bike image from the "Pedal Pusher" set that my friend Katie gave me!!  Such a fun set!  I love this bike.

I like this layout too.  I took a half sheet of Lost Lagoon card stock and folded it in half.  Then I cut the front panel  to 2".  I used the scrap piece for the layer behind the bike.

I stamped the image on Whisper White card stock and I trimmed it down.  I cut the layer from the scrap and then I colored in the image.

I wasn't sure what I wanted for words.  I didn't care much for the ones that came with the set, so I went looking in my stamp sets and found the "Happy Home" set.  Once I saw the words in that set I knew who I was going to give this card to.

This is an adorable set, plus it's clear images and I was able to put the basket, the flowers and the flag on the bike with no spaces at all.  They lined up perfectly!!  That is why I LOVE working with those types of stamps.

This set retires in a couple of days.  I am glad I at least got to play with it once.  I just had too many stamps to play with.  And I tell myself this every time, I'm not going to buy a bunch of stamp sets because I don't get to play with them all as much as I want to.  But I think for the most part, I do get to play more with the ones I REALLY like!

I have SO many retired stamp sets and I think I am going to start putting them in my web store soon. I need to get my workroom cleaned up, organized, plus make room for new stamps!!!  If you're interested, I will post on here when I add sets to the store.

A Perfect Pairings Birthday Card

The "Happy Birthday" from the "Perfect Pairings" set is such a fun font.  I am going to miss this set at the end of the month when the "Sale-a-Bration" is done.

This was a fun card to make too. It's from Terri's very fun Stamp a Stack last week.  We played with the "Going Places" Designer Paper.  I wasn't thrilled with a lot of the images in that paper pack but once I saw what was being made with them I started to like it more and more. Sometimes I think I'm losing my creativity.  I don't see foresee things in papers and stamp sets like I use to.  Perhaps I just need to take a few days off and just do some looking and see what ideas I can come up with on my own. But for today, I have these fun cards to share with you.

We used Lost Lagoon for the base of our card.  I looked in my papers and I have a lot of Lost Lagoon left and that retires in a couple of months.  That means I'd better get in gear and use up as much of those in colors as possible or I will be stuck with them.  Well, not really stuck with them, there are people that will buy them (if you sell them that is!!!).

We used the Ornate Tag Punch, punched the Very Vanilla card stock and then after sponging the edges we added the thick Baker's Twine.  I really like the feel of that stuff.  We set the tag in place using Dimensionals.

These were quick and simple cards to make.  I LOVE this layout.  You can use it with any decorative papers and make some quick and beautiful cards.

For a closer view of the cards, just click on the photo.

A Botanicals for You and Perfectly Artistic Magic Card Technique

Today I am going to share with you a card made by Beth from our latest technique swap.  This technique is called "Magic Window".  You can see on of my other posts here and there is a link to the instructions.

The image used here is from the Botanicals for You" from the 2016 Sale-a-Brations catalog.

Beth used Marina Mist for the base color of her card and for the ink.

She also used the "Perfectly Artistic" Designer Series Paper (Smoky Slate color) for the side strip.  The flowers were punched out using the Melon Mambo paper from that pack.  I have some of that paper but have not used it much.  I have found it difficult to work with.  But now that I've seen a lot of things made using it, I may give it another try!

These cards are a lot easier to make than it looks. I love how when you open the card, the window opens slowly and reveals the words.  It's magic!!! LOL  It's fun, give it a try!!

A Peek-a-Boo Technique Birthday Card

Today I am going to share with you one of the cards I received in the last swap I attended.  This was from the Peek-a-boo Technique.  You can see how to do this technique here. It's a very easy and quick one.  Plus I love that you get to see three colors at one time. You get the base of the card and then the decorative paper along with the back side of that piece of decorative paper.

The decorative paper used here is from the "Perfectly Artistic" 12" x 12" paper pack that is from the 2016 Sale-a-Bration catalog.  Tanya made this card and made great use of the decorative paper.  I love how she tied it in with the octopus.  Cute, huh?

This was a fun swap and I got some great card samples using this technique.

Thank you for stopping by today,

A Botanical Builder, Gorgeous Grunge, and Sky is the Limit Birthday card

WOW, today's card has lots of stuff going on in it!  I used the "Sky is the Limit" set for the words.  I love the font they use.

I used Bermuda Bay ink and the "Gorgeous Grunge" dotted splatter image on the Whisper White card front.

The base of the card is a folded half sheet of Bermuda Bay.

I cut two 2" square pieces of decorative paper to fit behind the 1-3/8" circles.  I set that paper in place using Dimensionals.

Then I proceeded to cut out the flower, the flower components, and the leaves.  I set the flower in place using a Dimensional.

This was a very fun card to make.  When I was cutting out my flower parts, I ran some scrap pieces of card stock along with other dies so I could have some extra pieces on hand.  Why not, I was cranking the platform through the machine anyway.  Why not fill it up with other flowers and parts?  Now when I need a quick card, i will have parts available to either make a partial or whole card.

Oh, I almost forgot.  In the center of my flower is one of the new "It's my Party" enamel dots.  Okay, I think that about covers it.

A Botanical Builders Birthday Card with Gorgeous Grunge and Sky is the Limit

I found this pretty "Botanical Builders" card on Susan's "Crafty Ducky Doodah" blog.  I liked the card but did change it just a little.  I wanted to make it into a birthday card and my favorite birthday words are from the "Sky is the Limit" set. I used Basic Gray ink for them.  I am still loving the "Gorgeous Grunge" set and I used the dotted splash here with Smoky Slate ink.

I cut out the flower using Pink Pirouette card stock and sponged the edges with Pink Pirouette ink.  I cut out the center piece using Whisper White card stock and sponged the center with Pink Pirouette ink.  Now wishing I would have used Daffodil Delight for a little more contrast.  I put the pieces together and added the rhinestone.

The leaves are cut from Pear Pizzazz card stock. I set the leaves in place with a dot of glue.  Then I added the flower using a Dimensional.  And it was done.  This is a super fun, simple and quick framelit set to play with.  Even without the matching stamp set you can make beautiful flowers.  This card was made with just the framelits.

A Botanical Blooms, Botanical Builder, and Sky is the Limit Birthday Card

While trying to declutter my workroom, I ran across a card that had this very layout.  I thought that the "Botanical Blooms" and "Botanical Builder" Framelits would work well with it and it did!!  I am happy with the way it turned out.  I had a lot of fun making it.  I think, because I was in the mood to play with lots of layers today!

If  you want to make one, please read on for the measurements.

I used Watermelon Wonder for the base of my card. Basic Black was used for the layers and all the panels were done using Whisper White.

After I had cut my Whisper White pieces, I stamped them with the little flower cluster image.  I used Watermelon Wonder ink and stamped off twice before I stamped on the card stock.  I sponged all of the edges and then I taped them on the Basic Black layers.  From there I began the embellishments.  Oh, the words are from the "Sky is the Limit" Sale-a-Bration set.  I told you I was going to be using those words a lot!!  Plus they fit perfectly into that top space.

The card stock colors used here are Watermelon Wonder, Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight, and in the center of the largest flower I used Lost Lagoon.  I also cut out a couple of little flowers using Pear Pizzazz and cut them up for little leaves for the little flowers.

I used the new "It's my Party" candy dots for the center of the flowers.  The green isn't exact but it blends well with the card stock so I ran with it!

Okay, now the measurements.  For the Basic Black layer cut one of each of the following:
2-1/4" x 4", 2-1/8" x 7/8", 2-1/8" x 1-1/2", and 2-1/2" x 1-3/4".

For the Whisper White pieces, cut one of each of the following:
2" x 3-3/4", 1-7/8" x 5/8", 1-7/8" x 1-1/4", and 2-1/4" x 1-1/2".

There you go, now have fun playing!  I have always loved this layout and I am hoping to use it again with some other stamp set I have!!

A Sky is the Limit and Botanical Framelits 2016 Occasions Catalog Birthday Card

I buy Washi tape and use it so very little.  I love the stuff but don't often think to grab some and slap it on a card and embellish!  Well, today was the day to slap on some tape and play!

I loved these three Washi tape colors together. They have a warm look to them.  I have a little container filled with flowers and flower pieces pre-cut from the "Botanicals" Framelits.  When I make a card with them I am often not sure what colors I am going to use so I make a bunch of flowers and then play with the colors until I find the ones I like that go together. And sometimes I only find one flower, thus resulting in a lot of extra flowers and pieces.  So today I didn't have to visit my Big Shot once!  I had everything I needed in my little container.

I LOVE the font on the "Happy Birthday."  It's from the "Sky is the Limit" Sale-a-Brations catalog.  Which is too bad because that means it will be retiring at the end of March.  So you might be seeing it on a lot of cards between now and then!

This was a fun card to make and SUPER quick too!!

A Sky is the Limit Masculine 2016 Sale-a-Bration Birthday Card

This was one of those sets in in the 2016 Sale-a-Bration catalog that I just HAD to have.  I don't know what it was about the plane but I was drawn to it.  I also saw this card made by Marcy on Pinterest and I just HAD to copy it.

I loved the simplicity of it.  Plus it was very easy to make too.  I cut out a 2-3/4" circle and used it as my template so I could sponge my Sahara Sand ink on.  I'm assuming it is what Marcy used but I didn't have any instructions so I just winged it!! No pun in tended!!! LOL

I used the "Happy Birthday" from the set.  The original card used the "You Send Me Soaring" words.  I just thought I would make mine into a birthday card instead.  It is something I would get more use out of.

I wasn't sure what color the sequins used were, so I just colored mine with a black Sharpie marker.  I glued them in place.

I added a layer of Basic Black card stock behind the focal piece.  The Whisper White base piece was cut at 4'1/4" x 11" and scored at 5-1/2".  And that's it!  Super easy and extremely quick!

A Botanicals for You Card

While looking through the 2016 Sale-a-Brations catalog, this card caught my eye, which is one of the reasons why I chose this as my free set. I did change it a little.  Instead of a white card, I used Old Olive for the base and then added the layer on the front.  I liked the one in the catalog but I thought it could use a little bit more color.

I used Real Red, Pool Party, Crushed Curry, and Old Olive inks. This is a fun set to play with.  And there's lots of pieces to it too!!

It's a great set to play with to make cards with lots of fun colors. There's a few word images to go with it too.  I think I can have fun making many different card layouts with this set.  Or mixing it with other sets as well!

I am looking forward to playing with it again!

A Rose Wonder Birthday Card

Today I want to share with you a card I had made at Terri's ever SO fun Stamp-a-Stack.  We used the "Hardwood" background and Smokey Slate ink for the background.

Then we took our panel and punched one end with the Ornate Tag punch. A punch I don't have.  I have so many tag punches and I doubt I will be adding that one to the collection!  It's pretty but I don't use the others very much and I don't see myself using this one much either.  Plus I can substitute the ones I have for this one if I see a card on the net I have to copy!!

The words are from the "Rose Wonder" set.  I have only played with the words from this set.  Hopefully next week I can get to the actual rose!!

We used the Perfectly Artistic designer paper for the flower.  We punched it out and then we added a flower from the Pansy Punch.  We clipped each petal so the flared out a little.  It was set in place with a glue dot.  A rhinestone was added to the center.  The leaves were made using the Fun Flower punch.  We cut it into 3 pieces and added it to the back of the flower.

It's was a fun card to make.

What I Love Birthday Card

Today's card was made using the free Sale a Brations set "What I Love."  It's such a pretty stamp set.  I wished it had a stem image but I can work with it without one.

I also used the new Botanical vellum paper.  As you can see by my tape marks, I need to find another way to secure it!

For this card I used Rose Red for the base, the decorative paper and the ink.  I also used Mossy Meadow for the layers and the leaves.

It's a fun card to make and a fun set to play with.  I love the triple stamping.  Once light color for the base of the flower, a darker one for the highlights and an even darker one for the petal details.  It's easy to make it look beautiful!!  I set the flower image in place using Dimensionals.  The other layers were just taped in place.  And I think that's about it!
