Sophisticated Sled, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Yesterday I made a few Christmas tags and today I took one of the tags I set aside to work into a card. This is what I came up with. Please read on to see how I made the card.

I took a folded half-sheet of Garden Green card stock and added a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock to the inside.

Another 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock was cut and textured using the "Falling Snow" embossing folder. It was then glued to the front of the card.

I cut a 4-1/4" x 2-7/8" piece of Garden Green card stock and added Dimensionals to the back. I set the piece on the front of the card centering it as much as I could by eyeing it.

Dimensionals were added to the back of the sled and it was put in place on top of the Garden Green layer.

You can see how the sled was made by viewing the instructions on yesterday's card. Click here to take you there quicker.

Snowflake embellishments were added to the front of the card. I used a large one to cover the hole where the string would go on the tag.

I do like how it turned out.  Now I'm rethinking the other tags I made that are just going to get tossed out and make them into cards. I probably won't do it but I'm thinking about it!!

I'm happy with the way this card turned out. I'll have to try some other tags and keep one to work into a card. It's fun to challenge myself (sometimes!).

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's Christmas card,

Sophisticated Sled, Greetings of the Season, Christmas Tag, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I started making Christmas tags. I don't know why I made these, they just get tossed out. I do know why I make them, they are just too cute, so why not! Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of the tag is a piece of Basic White card stock. I textured it first using the "Timber" embossing folder. I cut it out using the largest die in the "Greetings of the Season" bundle. I prefer to cut first and then emboss but with this folder I thought it would shrink up my piece a bit so I embossed first and then cut. Fortunately the texture remained after cutting.

After cutting the tag I added a piece of Baker's Twine for the hanger.

Next I took a 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Snowy Scenes" 12" x 12" package. I glued it to the center area of the tag.

Then the sled from the "Sophisticated Sled" bundle. The runner was cut from a piece of Early Espresso card stock. The body of the sled was cut using Pecan Pie card stock.

The skates and laces were cut from a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I glued the laces in place though the slot on the skates.  I used some silver foil card stock for the blades and I glued them in place. Then I glued the two skates together but offset a bit.

Glue dots were added behind the skates so I could add the Baker's Twine. My piece of Baker's Twine is about 3" long. I used a glue dot for the center of the twine and then attached the ends to the back of the skates. Once the twine was stuck to the back of the skates I added Dimensionals to the back making sure I put one on each side over the twine so it stays in place. More Dimensionals were added to the back of the skate and it was set in place on the tag.

The greenery was cut using a scrap piece of Mossy Meadow card stock. I had stuck it to the glue dot that's holding the twine but it was a bit unstable so I ended up gluing it in place.

I colored 3 small pearls using my dark Cherry Cobbler Blends pen. I set them in place on the greenery and the tag was done.

To and from will be printed on the back. It didn't come with the "Sophisticated Sled" bundle. I think I have another set with those words in it but I will just hand write it. If you want to stamp it you will need to do that before you texture and die cut it. I thought that would be a lot more work trying to get it straight. Another option is to stamp it on a separate piece of card stock and glue it to the back of the tag.

I made several of these today and I'm saving one out to work it into a card. I think it would be fun and cute.

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's Christmas tag,

Reindeer Days, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. The other day while looking around on the internet I saw a poem that I thought I would work into a card.  The poem was just too cute to pass up. I had purchased the "Reindeer Days" 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (DSP) and what to my wondering eyes is in that package?  Reindeer! Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of my card is a half-sheet of Real Red card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Falling Snow" embossing folder. Then I trimmed that piece to 4" x 5-1/4". I glued it to the front of the card. I also cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White and I taped it to the inside.

The words were typed on my computer. I used Liberation Serif font at size 16 for the title, 9 for the author and 12 for the body.  If you'd like a pdf (4 per sheet) I will gladly email it to you. You can find my email on the right sidebar just past the large QR code. It reads "Got a Question".  I trimmed the piece to measure 2-5/8" x 4" and the Real Red layer is cut at 2-7/8" x 4-1/4". I taped the two layers together. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the front of the card.

I fussy cut a reindeer from the "Reindeer Days" DSP. I used both tape and small Dimensionals to affix it to the card. Any part that touched the word piece got tape and the rest got Dimensionals.

I added a few snowflakes from the "White Loose Snowflakes" container. I just glued them in place.  And that was it, the card was done.

This was a fun card to make and I was so glad I ran across that cute poem.  And even better yet, I was thrilled that I had the reindeer!

Thank you Dee. I did fix the typo on the last line, mush should be must. And hopefully I can replace the photo without messing up the page. Blogger gets a bit quirky at times. If I can't, this pic will remain but the word will be fixed in the PDF and on my card. Thanks again for catching that. Also, I will only keep this offer open until 12-31-2024. The PDF will be removed from my computer and will no longer be available.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's Christmas card,

Sophisticated Sled, Stylish Shapes, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a Christmas card to share with you. I found it on Pinterest and you can see the original card here. I couldn't find any instructions so I went with how I felt it was made. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and stamped the wreath from the "Sophisticated Sled" bundle using Soft Sea Foam ink that was stamped off once. I added Dimensionals to the back and set the piece in place on the front of the card.

Next the sled was made. I used Early Espresso card stock for the runner and Pecan Pie for the body. I glued the pieces of the sled together. DImensionals were added to the back and it was set aside.

The wreath was made next by using a piece of Granny Apple Green card stock and stamping the wreath image using Garden Green card stock. I cut it out with the matching die. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on top of the sled.

The words are from the same bundle and were stamped using Pecan Pie ink on a scrap piece of Soft Sea Foam card stock. I cut them out using the largest ribbon die from the "Stylish Shapes" set. I cut them so the words were on the far right of the die cut. I snipped off the left side about 1/4" from the edge  of the words. I taped the word piece in place on top of the card about 1-1/2" up from the bottom and the tips are even with the right edge of the 4" x 5-1/4" layer.

I removed the backing on the Dimensionals on the sled and set it in place. I lined up the runner with the bottom left corner of the word piece and then angled the sled until it was almost touching the words.

Pearls were colored in using the dark Cherry Cobbler Blends pen and set in place on the wreath.

A Baker's Twine bow was tied and set in place using a little bit of glue. You can also use a glue dot but you need to roll it up a bit because it's too big. I do prefer the glue myself.  And that was it, the card was done.

I always forget about making my own background using images from the sets. I guess I've been spoiled by the Designer Series Papers.  This was a fun card to make and I'll add it to my stack of cards for our family Christmas ones for this year. I used to send out the same card to everyone but now I'm just going to use what I make from now until December 1st. Hope I can get enough done by then so they can get mailed out in time! Wish me luck there (LOTS of luck! LOL).

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's Christmas card,

Greetings of the Season, A Season of Green & Gold, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a Christmas card to share with you. I found it on the internet. You can see the original card here. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Real Red card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left. I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and taped it to the inside.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic Black card stock for the top layer. On top of that is the Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Seasons of Green & Gold" 12" x 12" package. I just had to buy that paper but I didn't by the bundle that coordinated with it. I cut my strips from the 12" x 12" sheets at 4" so I don't have much waste if any at all. I took that 4" strip and cut it at 5-1/8" long and trimmed off the top so it measured 3-7/8" wide. Then I cut 1-3/4" off the top. Now you are ready to tape the DSP to the Basic Black piece. The 1-3/4" piece is flipped over and will be at the top of the card. What I did to make it easier for me to line things up was I flipped the pieces over so I was looking at the backs. I taped the seam with scotch tape so it was one piece. Then I used double-sided tape and taped the piece to the Basic Black cardstock. Then that was taped to the card base.

Next I took the mistletoe leaves piece from another sheet in the same package and fussy cut them. If you buy the DSP and the coordinating bundle there's a die in there to cut it out. I didn't mind the fussy cutting. Also in that bundle is the pine needle die. Since I didn't have it I used the flower die form the "Flowers of Beauty" bundle. I just searched my dies to see what would work and look wintry and not scram of summer. This seemed to work the best. I did chop the piece up a bit though. I had die cut mine using Mossy Meadow card stock. I taped it under the mistletoe piece.

The words were done next and they are from the "Greetings of the Season" bundle and were stamped using Real Red ink on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock. I cut them out using the tag die in the "Greetings of the Season" bundle. Make sure when you cut it that the hole for the hanging tag is on the left, you will be hiding it with the mistletoe stem and the bow. I taped the word piece in place on the front of the card. I centered it as much as I could by eyeing it.

Then the mistletoe piece with the greenery was glued in place. I tried adding tape but it got hung up on the greenery. So I just added some dots of glue and pressed the piece in place. The bow was tied from a 7" piece of Gingham ribbon and it was added with a little bit of glue.

I had some colored rhinestones so I added those to the card and the card was done.

I'm pleased at how the card turned out even though I didn't have the exact same items the original card had. I just used what I had and made it work.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's Christmas card,

Sophisticated Sled, Fun Fold, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I got a new stamp set in the mail on Friday and finally had time to play with it. I found a card on the internet that I thought would be fun to make. What caught my eye on this card was the wreath. It's a "special fold".  You can see the original card here. I don't usually post Christmas cards in July. Please read on to see how I made this card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. Once cut in half on the 8-1/2" side it measured 4-1/4" x 11". It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I took the wreath die from the "Sophisticated Sled" bundle and I set it on the right side of the card front. I die cut the wreath but not all the way. Now I think I would do this part a little differently. I would cut the piece from the top and bottom at 2-1/8" from the right edge, cutting up and down about 1" to start with.  Then I'd set the wreath die on top so I could see how much of the wreath needs to be left. Then I'd cut the wreath. Once that is done I'd cut at the 3-1/8" cuts until they touch the wreath and remove the pieces. What I had done was I set the wreath on the front, die cut it and then cut to the wreath piece. I didn't measure, the video didn't give any measurements for that so I just went for it. In the future I will cut what I need to cut first and then the wreath and then cut the remaining pieces off.   I forgot to mention, you may want to practice on some scrap paper to know how far to turn the handle on your cutting machine to know when you've reached the 3/4 point of the die. I have the new machine and the die went through so I couldn't see it on the left and it came out on the right so I could see the die and about 1/16" white beyond the inside of the die.

The layers on the left side were cut as follows. The Cherry Cobbler piece measures 2-7/8" x 3-3/4" and the Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Perennial Lavender" 12" x 12" package. I didn't have any Christmas DSP so I worked with what I had. I taped the DSP to the Cherry Cobbler piece and that was taped to the left side of the card.

Next I did my stamping. I stamped the wreath from the same "Sophisticated Sled" bundle and I stamped the words from the same set. Both were stamped on a piece of Basic White card stock. I cut the words using a die from the "Cheerful Daisies" bundle.

The wreath was colored in using Blends pens. I used light Cherry Cobbler, light Old Olive, dark Granny Apple Green and light Mossy Meadow.  The wreath was glued in place on top of the partially cut out wreath on the front of the card.

The bow is from the same set. I had to hunt for it. At first I was going to leave the wreath without it because I didn't see a bow stamp in the bundle. But there it was on top of a hanging bough. It just needed to be fussy cut from the bough.  I colored it in using my light Cherry Cobbler Blends pen and then added shadowing using the dark Blends pen. I colored the leaf with the light Mossy Meadow Blends pen. And you now have a bow! I'm actually editing this part of my post because I did not have a bow and for the life of me I couldn't see it in the set until I REALLY looked at the set and there it was! Sharing that with you in the event you didn't see it either. But you probably did!

I cut a 4" x 2-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock that I textured using the "Distressed Tile" embossing folder. I glued this to the inside of the card. I love how this looks.

The sled parts were cut next. Pecan Pie card stock was used on the card in the pic. I had originally used Crumb Cake but it was too light. Instead of scrapping it I used a blending brush and some Pecan Pie ink and scrubbed on the color. It looked nice so I will use it on another card. But Pecan Pie card stock looks SO much better than Crumb Cake. Well, it does against this DSP anyway. I used Basic Black for the frame of the sled. I glued the top part of the sled across the "bar" that was cut in the frame. Then I ran some glue along the outside lines of the frame and a dot on each spot where the "wooden" part would be touching it. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card.

I cut a 1-1/8" x 1-1/4" piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock and taped it to the back of the word piece. I set it in place with a Dimensional on the left and a little bit of glue on the right. And that was it for my card.

The original card added some linen thread and a stamped bow on the wreath. My set didn't come with the bow so the designer of this card must have gotten it from a different set. I am going to leave mine the way it is for now. I may add some Wink of Stella to the berries in the wreath or maybe some red rhinestone.  It just looks like it needs something more. Maybe I'll find a small wreath stamp in my old sets.  But for now it's going to look like this.

This was a fun card to make. I love this sled. The set also comes with skates and that's why I wanted to get it.

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's (early) Christmas card,
Wanda
