All Things Fabulous, Free as a Bird, Thank You Card, 2021 Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog

I found a sweet card on Pinterest and I thought it would make a nice thank you card. You can see the original card here

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock.

I took a scrap piece of Basic White and I stamped one of the larger flowers using Misty Moonlight ink that was stamped off once. Then for the highlight I inked up the center image and lightly stamped off and then stamped onto the flower. I did this for the other shaped flower in the set too.

The leaves are from the same "A Things Fabulous" set (that will be in the 2021-2022 annual catalog - yay!!).  I stamped the leaves using Mossy Meadow ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock.

I die cut the flowers and leaves all at the same time.

The flowers were set on top of the front of the card to see where the words should go.

The words are from the "Free as a Bird" set and were stamped using Mossy Meadow ink.

I taped the top flower in place first and I tucked the leaf under it before I pressed it down. Then the second flower was set in place using Dimensionals. I added a little Wink of Stella to the center of the flowers and that was it.

This was a very quick and easy card to make. I think it would be pretty using Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape in too!  It would also work for other occasions too, like a birthday, anniversary, wedding, thinking of you, sympathy and get well. Very versatile.  That is why a stamp set like this appeals to me. I can get a lot of use out of it because it's good for more than one occasion or season.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see this quick and easy card,

Timeless Textures, Rose Wonder, Wedding Card, Rubber Band Technique

No, you are not seeing things.  This is pretty similar to the card I posted last week.  You can see that card here.  I really liked that card, plus I said I thought it would make a great wedding card.  For the background on this one I thought I would try the "Rubber Band" Technique and use it for the technique swap tonight.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Crumb Cake card stock. On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of the new Powder Pink.  And on top of that is a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White card stock.

For the background on the Whisper White piece, I used the "Rubber Band" technique.  You take rubber bands and twist them around a clear acrylic stamping block.  Make sure there's some twists in the band your you will just get a wide flat line. Don't let the bands cross over each other or you will only get images of the ones on top. For mine I had 4 rubber bands wrapped around the block, for a total of 8 twisted lines. I stamped the Poweder Pink color first and then I stamped the Crumb Cake color.  After I did that, I added the Pear Pizzazz leafy looking images and then the coffee ring type image using Crumb Cake ink that was stamped off once.

The words are from the "Rose Wonder" set and were stamped using Soft Suede ink.  I die cut the butterfly and covered it with "Wink of Stella" and then I added the pearls. I added Dimensionals and set it in place. Click the above link for the measurements for the word piece.  That piece was also set in place using Dimensionals.

The butterflies orientation is different than the first card I made, plus I only used 3 pearls down the back of the butterfly.

The background technique was fun and I do like how it turned out on my card.

Elements of Style Anniversary Card

I really like this "Elements of Style" stamp set. I thought I would play with some embossing powder with it. I originally was going to emboss it in black and do some coloring but I'll save that for another day.
This time I played with black card stock and silver embossing powder. The base of this card is Brushed Silver and so is the scalloped layer.
I stamped the image with VersaMark and then embossed it with the silver powder. I heat set it and taped it in place on the silver card stock. I used glue dots to set it in place. I find that the tape doesn't stick as well, it needs something a bit stickier. The Sticky Strip would work too but the glue dots were already sitting out! I also used them on the silver scallop piece. This card is not coming apart!!
The words were done on the computer and punched out. This is a great card if you need to make something quick that doesn't look like it was whipped together in no time at all!
I think it would be fun to try out the bleaching technique on the flowers and then color in some of them with vibrant colors. I'll have to give that a try sometime. Or you give it a try and show me your finished item!

Casing Ruth B!

Ruth B. is a fellow demonstrator that I met via my blog. She lives half way across the country from me. We have corresponded a bit via email and I am fortunate enough to be privy to some of her creations. I did ask her permission a LONG time ago to case some of her fabulous creations. This one here is such a pretty card that I just couldn't resist it. I have waited since January to find time to case this!

I have liked this card since the first time I saw it! It allows you to play with the flowers and beads from the "Pretties" kit.

I colored the flowers blue by using a sponge and the Bashful Blue ink pad and just rubbing it over the flowers. THe flowers pick up the color nicley.

This is basically a simple and quick card to make.

Measurements are pretty simple too. You just take a half sheet of Bashful Blue and fold it in half. The next and only layer is a piece of white card stock cut 5-1/4" x 4". Stamp the image on. Tie the ribbon aroudn the white piece only. Assemble the flowers adding a brad in the middle to hold them together. Add your choice of beads to the pin and attach it to the flower. I used a glue dot to hold the flower in place on the card.

Isn't is just a sweet looking card?
Thank you Ruth for allowing me to case and publish your card here!

This card was made entirely of Stampin' Up! products. To view more cards/items made entirely of Stampin' Up! products click here.

More Motifs

I SO copied this card (CASE) from one posted on SplitCoastStampers. I made some color and wording changes but for the most part it's a CASE. It's been a LONG time since I've done that. It's not that there aren't a lot of cards on there to CASE, believe me, there are. But I usually try to come up with my own design. But once and a while a card comes along that you just can't add or change it much but yet it's so inspiring to you. Well, that is what happened with this card. It's ok to CASE, just give credit where credit is due.

For my card I used Sahara Sand for the center, behind that is Bravo Burgundy and the main part of the card is Night of Navy. I wanted something dark but not black. On top of the Sahara Sand I used the Fine Lace Background stamp and Sahara Sand ink pad. For the swirls on the card I used the larger stamp from the Baroque Motifs set and Night of Navy ink. The tiny flowers are also in the set and those were put on using Bravo Burgundy ink. The larger flower in the middle was stamped on Very Vanilla card stock with Bravo Burgundy ink. I used a silver brad in the center. I cut it out by hand (too bad there isn't a punch to go with that one!!) and I used a dimensional on the back to pop it up off the card. I also used the Sincere Salutations "Best Wishes" stamp for my wording. I needed an anniversary card. Then I assembled the card. And I just realized, I made a card without any sponging on it!! Rare occasion!!!

Wedding Bell Blues

I needed a quick wedding card and I just couldn't believe how quick this one was. You see, I caught a little "bug." NO, I didn't buy a Cuddlebug. I wanted to but was talked out of it by an employee at the stamping store. I have a Sizzix and the attachment and that was all I needed other than the die cuts and folders. Well, the folders were on sale. Need I say more? I bought a few and am having some fun with them. For this card I inked up my brayer and then rolled the ink on my blotter paper. I wanted a very light touch of blue. I tried it with the brayer fully inked and OH MY, it was SO dark! I did have to repeat the light process a few times to get the color I wanted but it's always best to go light and add dark than to just start out dark. I'm sure I'll be able to use the dark piece for another card later on. My card making career isn't over yet! I used Ballet Blue for my color on this card. No ribbons, no bows but I did sponge!!! You know how much I LOVE to sponge. I'm even giving away a sponge in the Blog Candy.

This layout is the SplitCoast sketch challenge this past Wednesday. SC127 I think. I'll have to check because I do need to post it before the next one comes out.

I've found that I'm enjoying the sketches. Once you get an idea in your head of what you want on the card you just cut it to fit the sketch. It works most times!!! I'm usually not one for trying new things but these sketches help me to get a different variety of layouts in my card file!

To make this card without the Cuddlebug folders, just pick a background like the floral one and use the Ballet Blue ink pad and stamp off once and then use the next image for your card. Use good card stock for your stamped off image, you can use this on another card later.

Thank you for checking in!

Pattern and Instructions for Ghiradelli Candy Holder

Yesterday my post included written instructions and a photo of a basket of Ghiradelli Candy Holders. I told you I would post a picture of a single holder and I've included a picture of the holder in the instruction sheet.

The next picture is of the instruction sheet. If you click on it you can view it a lot closer. The instructions are the same as the ones I posted yesterday. Just click on the link in the above paragraph and you'll be taken to that post. I wanted you to see what the candy holder looks like after you are done scoring and cutting. Just to clarify where you need to cut. You can always email me with any questions.

I would LOVE to see how you decorate these. PLEASE feel free to email me with your designs. I'd be more than happy to post them here too, giving you full credit of course!!! Let's see the talent that I know is out there!

Have fun with these!!

Weekend Project Ghiradelli Holders Pattern/Tutorial

Well, if this works out the way I planned it you should be seeing the basket of Ghiradelli Holders and reading this!! *crosses fingers*

I had to run out but I didn't want my post to be late so I did a rough draft and left.

I am still in the process of using up my retired decorative papers and ribbons. It's unreal how much ribbon is on a spool from Stampin' Up!

You can see one of the holders is open. This gives you a better view of what these are like. I need to get a pattern drawn up and posted for a better visual but I can give the written directions and measurements for this fun project. When I post the pattern I'll have a picture of just a single holder.
Cut your card stock or decroative paper 6 1/2" x 6 3/8". You are going to score your piece as follows. Score your piece with the 6 1/2" side at the top. Go from top to bottom and on the left side, score at 2" and then again at 2 1/4". Turn your paper around (upside down) and score the right side the same way. Now with the 6 3/8" side at the top score your paper at 3" and then again at 3 1/4". With the 6 1/2" side at the top you will be cutting away the bottom right and left side. Follow the score lines. You will be cutting away the score lines on the bottom right and left side so at the bottom you'll just have a 3" x 2" piece left. At this point you will have two small score lines in the middle of your paper plus the score lines on the upper part of the paper. Fold the score lines inward and make a firm crease. Fold the center piece in first and then the piece on the right. The piece on the left is the front of the holder. Don't tape it yet. You will want to take a circle punch and make a half a circle on the upper part of the right side. Fold the right side in over the top of the center piece and with a pencil trace the half circle onto the center piece. Open it up again, line up the pencil lines and punch out that half circle.

With some of the holders I made I used up some of the "in" colors of card stock and on the front I cut a 2" x 3" piece of decorative paper for decoration. I did make one holder with a 12" x 12" piece of decorative paper but you only get one per sheet. I taped the decorative paper to the front of the holder and then I taped the holder together. I just added tape to the upper right piece (on the inside). You may need to fold it all together again to see where the tape goes. Press the tape to the center piece, which at this point is folded to the center. Fold the left decorated piece over the top of that (no tape) and while holding it add your the Ghiradelli square. Now tie it shut with a ribbon. You can add words to the inside if you wish, depending on what the occasion is that you are making these for.

I will post a diagram and a single photo of the holder tomorrow after I draw one up!

Weekend Project Part 2

The night Leah and I were messing around with her graduation mints we were brainstorming on what other occasions we could use the mints for and in a VERY short time we came up with these in the photo.

There are TONS of occasions, weddings, bridal showers, birthdays, baby showers, Christmas gatherings, etc. Pretty much any occasion and there's a stamp out there for that occasion too!!

Thanks Leah for sharing your ideas, now there here on the blog when you need them!!!

Have a safe and fun holiday weekend.
