Buffalo Check, Beautiful Blizzard, Christmas Card

I'm not a bit fan of black and white Christmas cards.  Rethinking this, I should have gone with a blue, red or even green.  But I had some shimmery black ribbon sitting on my worktable so I just went with it.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  I cut it in half on the short 8-1/2" side.  This card opens from the bottom.

I cut a quarter sheet of Whisper White card stock and inked up the "Buffalo Check" stamp with black Memento ink and stamped the image.  I did set it up on my Stamparatus so I could get a dark image.  I should have cut my piece of card stock larger, larger than the stamp image, because I had no where to put the magnet.  SO I ended up using some repostionable tape on the back and taping it to the paper on the Stamparatus.  I needed this piece of paper to be in a fixed spot in the event I needed to reink and stamp again. I actually inked and stamped a total of three times to get the solid image I was looking for.  Note here.  Don't rub your ink pad across the stamp.  See on the left side there's a black dot in the lighter part?  That's a little bit of fuzz or fabric from rubbing the ink pad.  So now that you know that your image will be perfect.  I cut this piece down to 4" x 2-3/4" and I taped it to a  4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White.

Next I stamped the words from the "Beautiful Blizzard" set using black Memento ink.  I also used the black Memento ink on that.

I cut a 6" piece off the black shimmer ribbon and taped the ends to the back of the 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock.  I then taped the entire piece to the card base.  I took the end of the leftover ribbon and tied a knot to the left side of the taped on piece of ribbon.

I also found a Dazzling Diamond glitter paper snowflake so I used a glue dot and taped it in place on the card. It just seemed empty on the upper part of the card.  I used a black rhinestone from the "Faceted Dots" pack.  And that was it.

This was a fun card to make but I think I would use a different color if I ever make another one.  Black is not a great color for Christmas (in my opinion)!

A Happy Birthday Everyone and Botanical Builder Birthday Card

Oh, you guessed it.  I left the "Happy Birthday, Everyone" out!!  It was clean and dry and waiting to go back into it's container.  I had a scrap piece of black and white dotted paper from the "Neutral's" pack so I thought I would make a monochromatic card.  I have not made one of those in a long time.  I don't often do black and white, I tend to go red and white!  But this was the paper that was sitting out so I went with it.  I'm trying to clean up my workroom and pieces of scrap papers are popping up.  It's nice to use them.

SO what I did here was I cut my dotted paper 1-3/4" x 4".  I taped it to a piece of Whisper White that was cut 4" x 5-1/4".  I set the decorative paper on the card stock so I could see where the words should go.  That was the tricky part.  After stamping the words I taped the paper in place.  Then I taped a piece of ribbon onto the back and wrapped it around the card front and I taped it to the other side on the back.  I taped that piece on a folded half sheet of Basic Black card stock.

It needed something more, so I looked in my stash of die cut flowers and I was going to use one of the larger ones that I keep using on cards but today I thought I would step out of that box and try a smaller flower.  I found one and I added a center to it, which consisted of two star like pieces glued together.  I pressed them in the center in the palm of my hand so they could curl up a bit and then I glued them to the center of the flower.  I added a Dimensional to the back of the flower and set it in place on the card.  I wanted a leaf but they were all a bit too big, so I took one of the ferny looking leaves and cut it off somewhere in the middle.  Now it was the perfect length for this little flower!  I used glue to set it in place.  And that was it.  A simple and elegant looking birthday card.

A Guy Greetings, Gorgeous Grunge, and Wetlands Dad Birthday Card

Yup, another monochromatic card and again in black and white! That's only because I had cut out two cars and layered both of them yesterday.  It's something I often do and then I set the other one aside to get lost so I can find it someday and am happy because I found something almost finished!!! Crazy thinking!!!! LOL  Well, as per the norm for me, I did leave the layered circle on my worktable but it didn't get covered up or moved to the corner.  I actually used it, as you can see.   This card could use a little work on the greetings panel.  I wished I would have done the dots stamping off once.  I think the black dots are just a bit too dark for the greetings.  I do like this "Gorgeous Greetings" set.  I especially like the background on the large panel.  I think it would be a fun background for a cow focal image!!!  Anyway, this card is okay!  It was still fun to make and if you need a quick card, the one from yesterday was quicker but this one didn't take long either!

A Morning Meadow Sympathy Card

The hostess set "Morning Meadow" has been a favorite of mine since the catalog came out last summer.  It's too bad it has to retire.  I'm going to miss it, aren't you?  Retiring doesn't mean I won't be using it from time to time.  Some stamp sets are just not meant to retire!!!

I saw a card at Gretchen's website Inspiration in Action.  I thought it was so pretty but I didn't have all of the same elements as she had to make the card.  So I made do with what I had.  My words were done on the computer.  I didn't tie the ribbon in a bow and attach it near the words.  It just didn't look right.  I didn't have the die that she used to create the beautiful word area like she did.  I took a piece of scrap card stock and used the little banner punch, fed the card stock through the back side and punched each end.  Then I wrapped some ribbon around it and tied it in a knot.  I set it in place using Dimensionals.  It added an interesting look to the card but not too strange to look out of place.

The image was stamped using black StazOn and stamped on Whisper White.

This is a very simple card to make.  I really like "simple" lately!  I have not had a lot of time to look at Gretchen's website but I'm pretty sure there are more treasures on there!!!
