Perennial Postage, Days to Remember, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a birthday card to share with you. I found this card on Pinterest. You can see the original card here. I changed it just a little. There were no instructions so I had to wing it. Please read on to see how I made this card. 

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic Black card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

The first thing I did was I die cut the opening in the front of the card. I was sure the Designer Series Paper (DSP) was not die cut and taped on top of if the front of the card was die cut. So I went ahead and die cutting the front of the card. I used the second largest die in the "Perennial Postage" die set. 

The DSP is from the "Flowering Zinnias" 12" x 12" package. I cut it at 4" x 5-1/4" and taped it to the inside of the front of the card. Then I cut a piece of Basic Black card stock that measured just a hair smaller than 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" and tape that over the DSP on the inside of the cover. Before you tape it down, slip the card stock in and see if any of it sticks out. If it does, trim it up just a little and you'll be fine.

Next I die cut the pieces to the flower. I used Daffodil Delight for the center ring. Berry Burst for the flower center and one set of petals. Pumpkin Pie and Melon Mambo were used for the other two flower petal pieces. The leaves and stem were die cut using Lemon Lime Twist card stock. 

I glued the flower pieces together and then glued the flower to the front of the card. 

The words are from the "Days to Remember" set and were stamped using black Memento ink. I punched them out using the "Double Oval" punch. I set the words in place using Dimensionals.

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock was taped to the inside and the card was done.

Cheerful Daisies, Days to Remember, Birthday Cards, Stampin' Up!

 Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a quick birthday card to share with you. Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Night of Navy card stock. This card opens on the bottom and the fold was on the top.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and taped it to the front of the card base.

The Designer Series Paper (DSP) was gifted to me so I'm not sure what package it came from but I do know it's from a 6" x 6" stack. I cut this piece at 3-7/8" x 5-1/8".  Now that I see it on my computer screen, I'm thinking the color is Blueberry Bushel and not Night of Navy, though Night of Navy did work for the card base. I taped this piece to the Basic White piece.

Next I die cut the flowers from the "Cheerful Daisies" bundle and cut out with the matching dies. The leaves and the ferny branch piece too. All from Basic White card stock. I sponged on some Granny Apple Green on the leaves and some Soft Sea Foam on the ferny piece. The centers of the small flowers were stamped using Flirty Flamingo ink and the center on the large flower was stamped using Daffodil Delight ink. I die cut the large center and fussy cut the two small centers. I taped them in place on the center of the flowers. 

The flowers were then set in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals. I started with the large one and then added the top small one and then the bottom one.

A little bit of glue was added to the ends of the greenery and they were tucked under the flowers.

The words are from the "Days to Remember" set and were stamped using black Memento ink. I punched them out using the "Double Oval" punch and set them in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals. It seemed odd to me to not to have a layer behind the word piece. In order to make that work the layer would have had to have been white and the word piece Night of Navy using white embossing powder. But this worked it just seemed odd to me. That's what happens when you step outside your comfort zone!

I do like how this card turned out. I love the colors. It's got such a fresh feel to it.

Textured Floral, Perennial Lavender, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I challenged myself to make another card using strips. I finally succeeded in getting it right. Yay me! Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left. I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it with the "Distressed Tile" embossing folder. I glued that piece to the front of the card.

Next I cut my Designer Series Paper (DPS) from the "Perennial Lavender" 12" x 12" package. I cut the Highland Heather strips first. They measure 1" x 4" and you need three of them.

Then I cut the background piece, which is on the other side of the strips piece. I cut this piece at 3-1/2" x 4-1/4".  I taped the strips to this piece. I taped the first and third piece down and then added the center strip. I glued this to the front of the card.

The words are from the "Textured Floral" set and were stamped using Gorgeous Grape ink. I cut them out using the die from the "Everyday Details" set. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card. And the card was done.

I was very surprised at how quick it was to make this card. I guess once you get the hang of making the strips right it goes together well and quick too! I have lots of strips of DSP that I would love to use to make cards and use it up.

Textured Floral, Flowering Zinnias, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a fun layout to share with you. I may try another one later and use a different orientation. Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Distressed Tile" embossing folder. I set that piece in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals.

Next I cut a 2-3/4" 3-3/4" piece of  Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Flowering Zinnias" 12" x 12" package. 

Then I cut the pieces on top of the DSP. The long strip on the left measures 1-1/8" x 2-3/4" for the green DSP (from the same package) and the Basic White piece measures 7/8" x 2-1/2". I taped these two layers together and then it was taped to the DSP piece.

The Basic White square was cut at 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" and taped to the DSP.

The flower from the same package of DSP was fussy cut and set in place on the Basic White square using Dimensionals. The piece was glued to the front of the card

The words are from "Textured Floral" and were stamped using black Memento ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. They were cut using the 3rd largest die in the "Everyday Details" die set. I sponged the edges using Berry Burst ink. I set the piece in place using Dimensionals and the card was done.

I'm not overly thrilled with how the card looks but I do like the layout. I'll give it another try sometime soon and hopefully do a better job on it.

Simply Zinnia, Flowering Zinnias, Mother's Day Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a card to share with you that I found on Pinterest. You can see the original card here. Please read on to see how it was made. 

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Gorgeous Grape card stock. I taped that to the front of the card base.

The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the "Flowering Zinnias" 12" x 12" package. I cut the bottom strip 1-3/4" x 2-2/4" and the two top pieces were cut at 1-3/4" x 3-1/4".  I taped these pieces to the Gorgeous Grape piece.

The words were printed on my computer. I used Lucinda font at 15pt. I bolded it too. I printed it out on a piece of Basic White card stock and trimmed it to 3-3/4" x 3/4".  I set it in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals.

The flower is from the "Simply Zinnia" bundle and was stamped using Gorgeous Grape ink. I set it up in my Stamperatus and stamped it a couple of times to make sure it was nice and dark. Then I took my light Highland Heather Blends pen and colored it in. After I colored it I used the matching die to cut it out.

The leaves were stamped using Granny Apple Green ink and they were stamped a couple of times so it was nice and dark and then it was colored in using the light Granny Apple Green Blends pen. The leaves were die cut too.

I set the flower on top of the Basic White strip using Dimensionals that only touched the strip. And for the leaves I doubled up on the Dimensionals so they were the same height as the flower.

I took some rhinestones I had and colored them using my dark Granny Apple Green Blends pen and then set them in place on the front of the card and the card was done.

This was a fun card to make and I got to use the stamps in the bundle, I'm usually using the dies and the DSP and not so much with the stamps. This layout could be used for many other occasions.

Cheerful Daisies, Days to Remember, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I placed my Stampin' Up! order and now we wait! I'd like to add patiently but I'm never patient when it comes to my orders. So in the meantime I will play with what I have. Isn't it odd that what I have was perfectly fine until the new catalog came out!  LOL  Anyway, today I have a quick and easy card to share with you.  The "Cheerful Daisies" set is in the new catalog and surprisingly so, the Designer Series Paper "Fresh as a Daisy" is in it too.  DSP doesn't usually carry over and I'm thrilled that it did. Hope to see more of that in the future. So onto my card. I found it on Pinterest and I changed it a little. You can see the original card here. 

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left. 

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Distressed Tile" embossing folder. I glued that to the front of the card.

The DSP is from the "Cheerful Daisies" set and was cut at 4" x 1-1/2". I glued that to the front of the card about 1-1/2" from the bottom edge of the card. 

I die cut the flowers using Basic White card stock. I colored the center with Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry ink using a sponge dauber. I added a little bit of glue to hold down the detailed pieces.

The leaves were removed from the flowers after die cutting and colored using my light Highland Heather Blends pen. I was going to cut them using Highland Heather card stock but I didn't want that look, I wanted the look of some light and dark areas on it from coloring.  

I die cut the largest square from the "Stylish Shapes" set and glued it to the front of the card, lining it up equally on the right and left and about 1" up from the bottom of the card.

The flowers were added next using Dimensionals. The leaves were added with a little bit of glue.

The words are from the "Days to Remember" set and were stamped using black Memento ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. They were punched out using the "Double Oval" punch. Using the same punch I punched out the Highland Heather scalloped oval. I taped the two ovals together and set them in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals. And the card was done.

I think it's such a pretty card, I'm very fond of the Highland Heather color and I think it fit perfectly with this layout.

Cheerful Daisies, Days to Remember, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a birthday card to share with you. I struggled a little with the sparkly card stock but other than that it was fun to do. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It was cut in half on the short 8-1/2" side and once cut it measured 4-1/4" x 11".  The card opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP). I do not know what package it came from, it had been gifted to me but it is from the 2023-2024 Stampin' Up! It measures 4-1/4" x 2". I taped it to the front of the card about 1-1/4" from the top fold.

The flower was cut using the die from the "Cheerful Daisies" bundle using Basic White card stock. 

Using the same dies the leaves and branch looking leaves were cut using some Lost Lagoon sparkly glittery paper. This is where my issue came. This paper is thicker which caused the die to not want to cut all the way through. I ended up adding a shim (a piece of card stock) on top of my platform which did help. But I still had to be careful when removing the cut piece because mine tore and I had to redo it (several times UGH!).  

The words are from the "Days to Remember" set and were stamped using black Memento ink. I punched them out using the "Double Oval" punch.

The same punch was used for the Lost Lagoon layer behind the words. I taped the two ovals together and added Dimensionals to the back. The piece was set aside.

Now lets assemble the card. Using my dark Daffodil Delight Blends pen I colored the center of the flower. I also added a little dark Crushed Curry to the center too to give it some highlights. I took the detailed die cut piece of the flower and used little dots of mono glue to set it in place on top of the flower. I added a little bit of tape to the center of the flower and set it in place on the front of the card. 

I used a little bit of glue on the ends of the branch looking pieces and leaves and slipped them under the flower.

The words were set in place and the card was done.

This would have been a super quick card had I not had issues with the sparkly card stock (I forgot to mention that it was gifted to me too but it is in the 2023-2024 catalog).

Simply Zinnia, Days to Remember, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have an easy card to share with you that has a couple of fun layers. Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 3" x 5" piece of Flirty Flamingo for the back layer. And on top of that is a 2-3/4" x 4-3/4" piece of Basic White that was textured using the "Distressed Tile" embossing folder. I glued the two layers together. I taped this layer to the front of the card.

The next Flirty Flamingo layer was cut at 4-1/2" x 3-1/4" and the Basic White layer was cut at 4-1/4" x 3" and it was also textured using the "Distressed Tile" embossing folder.  I glued the two layers together. I glued this layer to the front of the card.

The flowers are from the "Simply Zinnia" set and were stamped using black Memento ink and die cut with the matching die in the "Simply Zinnia" bundle. The flowers were colored in using both light and dark Blends pens. I used Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Granny Apple Green. The piece was set in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals.

The words are from the "Days to Remember" set and were stamped using black Memento ink. I punched them out using the "Double Oval" punch and set them in place using Dimensionals.  And the card was done.

This was so quick and easy to make and pretty too!

Heartfelt Hexagon, Layered Florals, Wedding Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have wedding card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 5-1/4" x 2-1/4" piece of gold foil card stock for the back layer.

The Basic White layer is was textured using the "Layered Florals" embossing folder, it measured 2" x 5". I glued it to the gold foil piece. Then I taped that piece to the front of the card about 1/4" from the bottom, fold and top. 

The focal piece was stamped using the "Heartfelt Hexagon" set and Wild Wheat ink. I stamped the border first and then the words. I punched them out using the "Heartfelt Hexagon" punch. I set the piece in place using Dimensionals and the card was done.

This is a very quick and easy card to make. It is exactly what was in my head when I thought about making this card. I thought it is a great wedding card.

Rock & Roll, Rock Star, Teen Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a teen birthday card to share with you. I found it on Pinterest and thought I'd give it a try since I had almost a full package of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Rock & Roll" 12" x 12" package. You can see the original card here. Please read on to see how I made the card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Real Red card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic Black card stock for the layer and a 4-1/2" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White for the inside. I taped that piece in place.

A 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Basic White card stock was cut for the front of the card.

The DSP was cut at 2" x 3-3/4". Did you ever look at the pieces after you cut them and think you cut them too small. Somehow when they come off my cutter they look smaller than I thought they should be. I did have the size right but it just looked small to me. Anyway, after cutting the DSP I cut a Real Red piece to measure 2-1/4" x 3-3/4". I taped the two layers together. I set them on top of the card so I could see where the words should go.

The words are from the "Rock Star" set and were stamped using black Memento ink. After stamping the words I taped the DSP layer to the front of the card about 5/8" up from the bottom edge.

The guitar was stamped next and die cut. Then colored using the dark Real Red Blends pen.

The circle is from the "Everyday Details" set and was cut from a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. At the same time I also die cut the stars using a scrap piece of Real Red card stock. I taped the circle in place and then I glued the bottom part of the guitar in place. I added a small dot of glue and set the stars on the card and the card was done.

This was a quick and fun card to make. I may make some more using different colors. I have an awful lot of DSP left!

Days to Remember, Flowering Zinnias, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a birthday card to share with you that's filled with lots of layers. I have not made a card with this many layers in a long time and I do love layers. Please read on to see how today's card was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic Black card stock.

I cut a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Berry Burst for the layer.

Next I cut two 4" x 5-1/4" pieces of Basic White card stock. I taped one to the inside and the other I textured using the "Distressed Tile" embossing folder. I glued this piece to the Berry Burst piece and then taped that to the front of the card base.

Next I cut my Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Flowering Zinnias" 12" x 12" package. I cut the floral printed piece at 2-1/4" x 4" and the Basic Black layer behind it at 2-3/8" x 4". I taped the two layers together and set them aside.

I cut the green DSP from the same "Flowering Zinnias" package, it measures 2" x 2-1/4" and the Basic Black layer measured 2-1/8" x 2-3/8".  I taped the two layers together. 

The flower was fussy cut from a sheet in the "Flowering Zinnias" package. I set it aside after cutting.

The rectangle pieces were cut using the dies from the "Stylish Shapes" set. I used the second and third largest dies. I cut one using Basic Black and the other using Basic White card stock.

The words are from the soon to be retiring "Days to Remember" set using black Memento ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. They were punched out using the "Double Oval" punch (which I believe is retiring too *insert sad face here*).  I punched out the Basic Black scalloped oval using the same punch. I taped the ovals together. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set aside.

Now to assemble the rest of the front, I used glue on the large Berry Burst piece of DSP. I also added glue to the green piece and slipped it under the larger piece with the left tip about 1/4" from the fold and the right tip about 1/2" from the top edge. 

Glue was used to set the rectangle piece in place too.

The word piece was added using the Dimensionals and the flower was also added using Dimensionals. And the card was done. 

I do like how it turned out, though I probably should have used 1/4" borders on the back layers instead of 1/8". I wasn't thinking about the difference between the two rectangle dies, that's a lot of space. But I am still happy with how it turned out. And it's a fun layout too! And it really didn't take that long to make either.

Filled With Happiness, Flowering Zinnias, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a birthday card to share with you using some soon to be retiring products. I feel I need to play with these more so I can justify my purchasing of them (which I can never do! LOL). Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

My Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the "Flowering Zinnia's" 12" x 12"package.  The piece I used measured 5-1/2" x 4-1/4".  The backside of the flowered piece was used on the bottom. It was nice to use one piece and not have more scraps. I cut the top piece 3-1/4". I taped the bottom piece in place first and then the top piece.

I cut a 4-1/4" x 3/8" piece of Granny Apple Green card stock and taped it over the seam where the two pieces of DSP meet.

Using the "Filled With Happiness" set I stamped the birthday one using black Memento ink. I punched a Petal Pink oval using the "Modern Oval" punch. I taped it over the bird image that was part of the original image.

A flower was fussy cut from the "Flowering Zinnias" DSP and was set in place on the oval using Dimensionals. I had fussy cut the leaves and slipped them under the flower using a little bit of glue.  And the card was done.

This was a very quick and easy card to make other than fussy cutting around the oval. I had made a template to make sure I got the oval the same all around. I kept it in the stamp case for future cards. I had used it once before on a card and I was glad I kept it.

What attracted me to this card was the line of diamond dots and of course the use of more "Flowering Zinnias" 12" x 12" package of Designer Series Paper (DSP). You can see the original card here. Please read on to see how the card was made.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Melon Mambo card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top. I cut

I cut two  4" x 5-1/4" pieces of Basic White card stock, one for the outside and one for the inside. I taped the inside piece in place. 

Next I cut a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of DSP that I die cut the dotted diamond line using the die from the "Everyday Details" die set. I taped the DSP to the Basic White piece and then I taped that to the card base.

The words are from the "Textured Floral" set and were stamped on a piece of Basic White card sock using Melon Mambo ink. I die cut them using the circle die in the same "Everyday Details" die set. 

The flowers are from a piece of DSP in the "Flowering Zinnias" package and were fussy cut. 

I taped the word piece in place and then added the flowers to the front.

I took some retired embellishments and colored them using my dark Daffodil Delight Blends pen and I set them in place on the front of the card and the card was done.

This was a fun card to make and very easy too. I do like the dotted diamond line, I think it adds a lot to the card.

Fresh as a Daisy, Perennial Postage, Mother's Day Card, Envelope Flap Technique, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I learned an important lesson.  Do not work on cards while on the phone. I found this card on the internet and thought I'd give the "Envelope Flap" card a try. You can see the original card here and learn how to make it correctly there! Please read on to see what I did!

The base of the card is a 1/4 sheet of Daffodil Delight card stock. It measures 4-1/4" x 5-1/2".  

A 7-1/2" x 5" piece of Basic White was cut for the front and was scored at 3-3/4" along the long side. And another Basic White piece was cut at 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" and was textured using the "Exposed Brick" embossing folder. This piece was glued to the folded Basic White piece but not the usual way you would think. The fold is on the bottom and the card opens on the top. With your piece orientated that way you can glue the textured piece to it.

I did stamp on the inside using the words from the "Perennial Postage" set with black Memento ink.

The flap is made using a 3-5/8" x 3-5/8" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Fresh as a Daisy" 12" x 12" package. It was cut diagonally to form the flap.

The words are from the same "Perennial Postage" set and were stamped using black Memento ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I die cut them using the 4th largest circle in the "Stylish Shapes" set. And I die cut a Crushed Curry circle using the 3rd largest die in that same set. I taped the circles together.

Now here's where I went wrong. I glued the flap to the front of the card. After realizing what I had done and knowing I didn't want to redo it, I just added Dimensionals behind the circle and I set it in place on the front of the card. Originally the flap was tucked behind the folded Basic White piece and the circle was added with Dimensionals so the tip of the flap would go under it and stay in place. 

I got the look but not the technique. I'll have to try this another time with different DSP.  Maybe on a Father's Day card.  But I still like how it looks.

Flowering Zinnias, Days to Remember, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a fun card to share with you that allows you to use a couple pieces of your Designer Series Paper (DSP). I love finding cards that allow me to use my DSP and would work for retired DSP too. I found this card on Pinterest, you can see it here. I did change it a little.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Melon Mambo card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut two 4" x 5-1/4" pieces of Basic White card stock. One I taped to the inside and the other I taped to the outside.

The DSP is from the "Flowering Zinnias" 12" x 12" package and was cut at 3-7/8" x 5-1/8". I taped that to the Basic White piece.

Next I cut a piece of Lemon Lime Twist card stock that measured 2-7/8" x 3-7/8" and I cut the DSP from the same package at 2-3/4" x 3-3/4". I taped the DSP to the Lemon Lime Twist piece and then that was taped to the front of the card.

The words are from the "Days to Remember" set and were stamped using black Memento ink and were punched out using the "Double Oval" punch. The Lemon Lime Twist scalloped oval was punched from the same punch. The ovals were taped together. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card. And that was it.

This was a super quick card to make and easy too. I can see myself using up a lot of retired DSP making cards with this layout.

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have another card to share with you using the "Enduring Beauty" bundle. I found the layout on Pinterest and thought I'd use one of the pieces I stenciled the other day. You can see the original card here. Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut a 3-1/2" x 4-1/2" piece of Basic Black card stock for the layer and a 3-3/8" x 4-3/8" piece of Basic White card stock for the top layer.

The flower was done by stamping the image from the "Enduring Beauty" bundle using black Memento ink. Then scrubbing on the color using the matching stencil and a Blending brush. I used Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry ink for the flowers and Granny Apple Green and Garden Green for the leaves and stems. 

I die cut the piece and then taped it to the Basic White piece. The top, side and bottom were trimmed.

The words were stamped next and are from the "Throughout the Year" set using black Memento ink.

I taped the two layers together and then taped that to the front of the card.

Three brass butterflies were added to the front and the card was done.

This was a super quick and easy card to make. I do highly recommend stenciling several flower images at one time, the stencils already have the ink on them, so why not? I made 3 yellow and 3 pink. I did have to wash the stencils for the flowers but the leaves and stems stencils were just ready to go for all the cards. I do regret not making red flowers. But I still have the stencils and will probably be doing that in the near future. I hope Stampin' Up! comes up with more stenciled images.

Flowering Zinnias, Simply Zinnia, Thinking of You Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog.  First, illness update: today I am feeling much better. The muscle is still sore and swollen from coughing so hard and so much but the coughing is more manageable now and I don't hear gurgling when I breathe anymore so that's a great sign. I might be able to sleep better without hearing myself breathe like that. It's been 13 days so it's about time I start feeling better, right? I don't feel well enough to do any housework, that might take months to get over! LOL Okay, that aside, I have a quick and easy card to share with you today. I found it on Pinterest and you can see the original card here. There were no measurements so I had to wing it. Please read on to see how it was made. 

The base of the base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top. Once cut on the short side it measures 4-1/4" x 11".  

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Real Red card stock was cut and then textured using the "Exposed Brick" embossing folder. 

The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the "Flowering Zinnias" 12" x 12" package. I had a scrap piece and I trimmed it to 2" x 4-1/2" and I glued it to the left side of the Real Red piece about 1/2" from the left edge. 

A 4" x 1" strip of  DSP from the same package was cut and glued to the bottom of the Real Red piece.

Some twine or linen was wrapped around the left side twice and the ends were taped to the back. If you are good at making a nice knot without clipping and taping the ends then go for it. I am not, so I wrapped my thread and taped the ends to the back. Then I tied a bow around the two strands. This is what works best for me. Plus I can slide the bow up and down to make sure I have it in the best place.

The words came next and they are from the "Simply Zinnia" bundle. I stamped them using black Memento ink on a 5/8" x 4" strip of Basic White card stock.  I snipped the ends and set the piece in place on the front of the card with Dimensionals.

Dimensionals were added to the back of the Real Red piece and it was set in place on the front of the card base.

Three brass butterflies were added and the card was done. 

This was a fun, quick and easy card to make. I think this is a great way to use up scraps of DSP (or sheets). You could make 18 cards with one full sheet.  That's a lot of cards in no time at all!

Go To Greetings, Be Mine, Painted Texture, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I do have some good news to share with you today. I think my illness has taken a turn for the better. I was awake a lot more today than I have been since last Friday. We even ran to the store to get more cough meds and I didn't feel as weak but I couldn't wait to get home to have lunch and take a long nap. The cough is still there and is fierce but it's not as frequent so I take any baby step forward as good. Tomorrow will be even better! Today I have a card to share with you that I saw on "Heartwarmer's From Vicki". The post is dated April 11th 2024.  I loved the layout. You can use it for SO many occasions. Plus you can use up some Designer Series Paper (DPS). And the added bonus is, it's a quick card to make. Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens from the bottom and the fold is on the top. 

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock that I textured using the "Painted Texture" embossing folder. I glued this to the front of the card base.

The DSP is from the "Bee Mine" 12" x 12" package. I was thrilled to be able to use more of this paper. I hate being stuck with leftover Valentine's Day paper because I know it will not be showing up in the next catalog. Once Valentine's Day is done the paper is pretty much done. So when I can still use some I'm thrilled.  My piece of DSP measures 2" x 5-1/4".  I think the piece is not quite as wide on the original card, it's difficult to tell.  I taped the DSP to a 2-1/4" x 5-1/4" piece of Poppy Parade card stock.  Before I had taped it I die cut the ribbon layer using the die from the "Stylish Shapes" set. If you have scraps of Poppy Parade to use then by all means use them. I didn't and I didn't want to take a new piece of Poppy Parade when I could just use the layer and no one will know there's a piece missing in the middle. Once the DSP was taped to the Poppy Parade piece I glued that to the front of the card about 1/4" from the bottom edge of the card.

The words are from the "Go To Greetings" set and were stamped using black Memento ink. I die cut them with the next size smaller ribbon die in the "Stylish Shapes" set. I taped the word piece to the Poppy Parade piece. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card. And the card was done.

I have plans on using up some wedding looking DSP and making wedding and anniversary cards using this layout. I have WAY too much DSP to use up but this will help some. And if you have some time visit Vicki's blog and see her beautiful cards.

Cheerful Daisies, Bee My Valentine, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. My post was delayed a bit because whatever this cold/virus thing I have is causing me to not move as quickly as I am used to. I'm so tired.  I take long naps and sleep through the night but yet I'm still tired. But (yes, but!!!) I do have to say I am feeling a little better.  YAY!  

I found today's card on Pinterest. When I laid my eyes on it I knew I had to make one. I just loved the idea of using the "Bee My Valentine" set again. It's just a one day celebration set and to be able to use it for other occasions is a plus.  And this card has to be the best one I've seen using this on a non-Valentine's Day card. I think you will agree with me. It's such a pleasing card. You can see the original here. I did have to change the embossing folder because I didn't have the one used on it. There were no measurements so I had to figure it out for myself and I will share them with you because I know you are going to want to make one of these cards. Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left. 

I cut a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Exposed Brick" embossing folder. I glued that to the front of the card. 

I cut a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Basic White card stock and die cut the center using the largest rectangle die from the "Everyday Details" set. I kept the piece that comes from the center to use on a future card (someday when I find it in a pile on my worktable LOL). 

Next I cut a 3-1/2" x 4-1/2" piece of Basic White card stock and colored it using my Blending Brush and Granny Apple Green ink.

The die cut piece was laid on top of the green piece so I could see where to stamp the words. The words are from the "Cheerful Daisies" set and were stamped using black Memento ink. I set the piece in place under the rectangle die cut piece and then that was glued to the front of the card.

Next came the flowers. Using Basic White card stock I die cut the 3 layers of flowers and glued them together. I did have to cut them apart from the one large flower die piece. The centers were stamped using Crushed Curry ink on a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock and then die cut. The small flower I ended up fussy cutting the center. I glued the centers in place.

The leaves were stamped next using Granny Apple Green and then die cut. You need three of these. And the leafy branches were die cut using Basic White card stock and colored in using the Blending Brush with Granny Apple Green ink.

The bee was stamped next. The body is Crushed Curry ink and then stamped using black Memento ink. The face was stamped next. And then the wings were stamped on a piece of Basic White card stock and colored in using the Blending Brush with the ink that was still left on it. The pieces were punched out and the wings were glued to the back of the bee. And that's it, the pieces are all ready to assemble.

The large flower was set in place first using Dimensionals. I slipped the ferny branches under the flower and the pressed down on the piece. Next came the flower on the right, glue was added to the back and it was set in place on the card. The leaves were glued and slipped under the flowers. Then the top flower was glued in place. And lastly was the bee, it was glued in place and the card was done.

There was a lot of pieces to this card but it was so worth it. I just love how it looks. I think this is the card I will be giving to my mom for her 90th birthday later this month (maybe) I had already made her on that had the "90" on it. I guess I'll have to wait and see.  Anyway, I just love the looks of this card, it creates such a feeling of spring and happiness.

Flowering Zinnias, Mother's Day Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I think you for the well wishes. I'm sorry to say that I'm not feeling better but I'm not worse, so that's good thing, right?  I think tomorrow will be a better day! I have gotten plenty of rest and am hoping that is going to make a difference. I also hope none of you catch this horrible bug. I had to go in my workroom today to fold some clothes I was in need of some undergarments! Of all the times to run out. UGH! But I figured while I was downstairs I might as well make a card while I wait for the dryer. Please read on to see how I mad today's card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Old Olive card stock. The card opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic Black card stock. The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the "Flowering Zinnias" 12" x 12" package. I cut three strips at 1-1/2" x 3-3/4". I am never good at getting these strips cut right. Does anyone know of a chart out there with measurements on cutting strips for cards? I like the looks of the strips but I just can't get them spaced nicely. Just like today's card. I was making this card for my mom, I don't think her eyesight is that great so she might not notice how off it is. LOL  And if she does she probably wouldn't say anything anyway.

Anyway, I took those strips of DSP and taped them to the Basic Black piece. I thought I had centered the middle piece and tried to space the other two out from there but it didn't work. UGH. I tried several times to get it right but just had no luck. And you know me, I post the good, the bad and the ugly here!

I taped the piece to the Old Olive card base. I also taped a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock to the inside.

The words were done on my computer. I was looking for something that would fit in that die and couldn't find anything so I just typed up something and printed it out on card stock. The die is from the "Everyday Details" die set.  I set them in place using Dimensionals.

I think this would be a great thinking of you, get well, birthday, or friendship card too.
