Scary Cute, Halloween Treat Box, Weekend Project, Stampin' Up! 2022 Fall Mini Catalog

While looking at a video on YouTube, I glanced over to the right at the sidebar and there was this cute Halloween box to make. Well, I couldn't wait for my video to get over so I could see how to make this box. It's pretty easy and very fun. You can see the video here

First you make the box by scoring a 6" x 7-1/2" piece of Basic Black card stock at 1", 3-1/2", 4-1/2" and 7" on the long side. Turn clockwise and score at 1", 4-1/2" x 5-1/2". Then you need to clip and cut away some pieces. I took a photo after I did my clipping and snipping. You also need to snip a partial circles

The box was then glued shut on the side. I prefer to use glue because I know it's going to hold. Then the bottom is glued.

The box is then decorated. First you cut your favorite Designer Series Papers (DSP). I used what what shown on the video. Mine is from the "Black & White" 12" x 12" package. I cut the front and back pieces at 2-1/4" x 3-1/4". The sides are cut at 3/4" x 3-1/4" and the bottom and top pieces are cut at 3/4" x 2-1/4".  When I cut my piece of DSP I cut the sheet at 2-1/4", then I cut the two 3-1/4" pieces. From what was left I was able to get all four strips. I cut a side and then a top and repeated that for the other strip. No waste there. Those pieces were all glued in place. I used the circle punch to punch the DSP on the backside where the other partial circle was cut on the Basic Black piece.

Here's where you add your treat. Then tie your favorite ribbon around the box and tie a bow on the top.

The layers for the front are a 2" x 3" piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock and a 1-3/4" x 2-3/4" piece of DSP from the Brights Collection. The character is stamped on that piece, pretty much centering it. Then the piece was taped to the Pumpkin Pie piece. The instructions say to add Dimensionals and set it on the front of the box. I would recommend adding the moon and bats (die cut from the "Scary Cute" bundle). It's easier to press them down in place without the Dimensionals cushioning it.

The words are from the same "Scary Cute" set and were stamped on a scrap piece of Highland Heather using black Memento ink. I die cut it with the die from the "Scary Cute" bundle and it was glued in place on the front of the panel. The top edge sits just under the foot of the character.

The moon and bats were glued in place and I added some iridescent sequins because I didn't have any of the gems used on the original box.  Then set the panel in place on the front of the box. Wink of Stella was added to the bats and the box was done.

Isn't it adorable?  I want to try this again with a Christmas theme.

Edited on 9-30-22.  I forgot to mention, the Oreo cookies in the cute little packages came from the Dollar Tree.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see today's fun Halloween project,

Itty Bitty Christmas, Christmas Ornament Gift Box, Weekend Project

I often find 3-D paper/stamping items that look like they'd be fun to make. This one was not only fun but it is also an ornament. I recall making a box like this a year or two ago. It didn't have the top flaps to tie as an ornament but it did open in a "V" on the sides like this one does and it had a regular flap to close.   If I find it I will add the link. It was fun and easy like this one is.

You can see how to make this here.  There is a video. I recommend watching the video first. Well, first I cut my card stock and Designer Series Paper (DSP) and then I watched the video.

When I scored the diagonal pieces I used my scoring board. I actually drew a pencil line from the top to the bottom on one of the grooves. It won't effect your future scoring. And if you have a kneadable eraser, you can form it to a point to fit in that groove and erase that line. I just leave it because I refer to it a lot.  Anyway, I took my stylus and made sure it was on the line at the top point of the center of the side of the box.  How what a mouthful of words there. I held my stylus in place and moved my card stock until the score line lined up with the pencil mark. Then I made my score line. I moved my stylus over a couple spaces and made the second score line.  I repeated that for the other matching side and then I turned my card stock to do the same for the other side pieces.  I just found it easier and quicker to do it that way.  But using a ruler works just fine too.

I didn't have the same ribbon so I used what I had. And I didn't have the words or dies that were used in the original piece so I used what I had.  The words used here are from the Itty Bitty Christmas set. I stamped them using Real Red ink on Whisper White card stock. I die cut them with the smallest circle die and with the smallest scalloped die I cut the red layer behind it.  It may have looked better if I had used the stitched circle die, there might not be as much red showing around the white circle.  But I still think it looks cute.  I think I will be making a couple of these for our granddaughters to hang on their tree and open at Christmas. Now to think of what to put inside???

The card stock here is Garden Green and Real Red and the DSP is from the 12" x 12" "Poinsettia Place" pack.  I didn't buy the pack. My demonstrator sent me a package of cut DSP and card stock for ordering.  If you don't have a demonstrator, here's mine, Terri Gaines.  Click on "Host Code" under the title of the web site and start shopping. If your order is under $150 enter her demonstrator code and get some free papers for every $50 you spend. If it's over then just treat it as a workshop and pick out your free merchandise as usual.

This was fun and very easy and I can't wait to make more.

Playful Pals and Disney's Olaf from Frozen Pyramid Pal Thinlit Die Box

I LOVE using the "Pyramid Pal" Thinlits.  You are only limited by your imagination with this set and matching dies. I do like the movie "Frozen" and Olaf is an adorable character. So, why not make one!

I used the Dazzling Diamonds card stock.  This paper is a little bit trickier to work with than regular card stock.  It's stiffer.  I had to use clips to hold the seams together to allow them to set up.  I used glue and not tape.  Because the paper was so stiff, there was no way the tape was going to hold for long.

I used some oval and round punches as well.  For the nose I just cut a wedge of Pumpkin Pie card stock and used a Pumpkin Pie marker and drew on some lines.

The top of his head is the toes from the frog die.  He was simple to make but like I said, you need to clip the seams together until they are set up.  For the pieces, I used both glue and tape.  I didn't want to sit there and hold pieces in place so I used tape and glue. I knew the tape would hold while the glue dried.  It was like getting the best of both worlds!!

I left the back open, I didn't glue it shut.  That way he could be used as a party favor or a gift box.

Isn't he adorable?  Please remember if you make these, you can not sell them unless you contact Disney and get a contract with them.  Olaf (and any other Disney character) has a copy right and you will be infringing on it if you sell their images.  It's best to check into things before you sell products that you don't own the rights to!

Playful Pals Angry Bird Pyramid Pal Thinlit

Today I would like to share with you one of the fun "Playful Pals" Pyramid Pal Thinlit's die box I made.

As you can see it's the red Angry Bird.  I played that game for a while but I'm not that great at projectories so I ended up giving up.  I wasn't having fun with it anymore.  But, I did have fun making this guy.

I made my red pyramid (leaving the back open for candies or gifts) and then I punched out some circled and cut some lines. I just found a picture of the red angry bird and went from there.  The top of the head "hair" was from a die in the package.  It made a fringe piece.  I just rolled it and glued it up.

Yup, as simple as that.  These critters are SO quick and easy to make.  And REALLY fun too!!  They don't take much card stock and you can use scraps for the details.

A Playful Pals Polar Bear

These "Playful Pals" are so much fun!  I thought I would make a polar bear.  There's so many fun pieces to the stamp set and to the "Pyramid Pals" Thinlit dies.  All of the pieces here were done with the dies except for the smirk!  I just used a paper punch and then punched a little sliver off the edge.  Oh, and the eyes were also done using a small paper punch.

Now when you make these fun pyramids, be mindful as to whether or not you want the pyramids to open or to be glued shut.  Since you have to cut out two pieces to form the pyramid, I glue them one at a time.  After I glue the first one, I will glue the bottom only to the second piece and insert it inside the first half I glued.  Now you can see which side you need to glue to have a pyramid that opens or one that is glued shut.  Ones that open are nice because you can put candies or other things inside them. They make great kids party favors.  They also make great co-workers gifts too!!  There's LOTS of ideas you can come up with for uses for these adorable boxes.

A tip if you are using the glitter papers.  You will need to use a large paper clip to hold the seam in place while it dries.  With card stock you just add glue, run your bone folder over the seam and it's good to go. But this glitter paper needs a little more help and time.

These are SO much fun and I have a few ideas for more!!

Chalk it up to Love Paper Pumpkin Kit

I was given this Paper Pumpkin kit as a gift from Terri and today I had time to assemble it.  What a fun kit!  In this kit I made 3 gift boxes with the flower and the ribbon belly band. And there were 6 cards to make. The theme of this kit was a Chalkboard look.

The kit came with everything you need to assemble the items in the picture.  Dimensionals and tape were included too!!  I said "everything" you needed!!! You could take this kit anywhere with you and not need a thing to assemble it.  You do need clear blocks and something to wash the ink (that comes with the kit) off.  I forgot to show that the box also has gift tags.  They are black like the ones on the card but they are more in the shape of a scalloped edge tag.

I love it that I have a use for every item in this kit!!! I had fun putting it together and I am now looking foward to the next one.  There is a new kit every month!!!  YAY!!!

Off the Grid Valentine Envelope Punch Board Box!

That grid image from "Off the Grid" is such a fun stamp to play with.  Here I stamped it on a piece of white card stock and embossed it in gold.  I just cut it to fit my fun box I made.  Inside hides a Russell Stover Peanut Butter Heart!

This box was very fun to make.  I had been surfing the net to find out how to make smaller boxes.  I found one that told me to cut my card stock 8" x 8" and score at the 3" mark.  It worked but the box was too big for what I wanted.  So I thought if I cut my card stock 6" x 6" and scored at 2" I may get closer to the size I am looking for and get this, I did!  I ended up with a 2-1/3" x 2-1/4" x 1-3/16" box.  Perfect for the candy!  And such a nice size to decorate too. Not too big and not too tiny!

The words on the front are from the "Delightful Dozen" set.  I punched out two Real Red scalloped ovals and set them on the top and bottom of the large white oval.  I also punched out two Real Red small hearts.  One went on the front and the other is on the back.  It helps hold the tip of the box in place.  I didn't take a photo of it but it's just below the center.  The tip of the flap tucks in between it and the back of the box.  I just glued the bottom tip down and it provides enough space for the flap to fit in and stay shut.  I also tied a red ribbon around the box.  That alone would hold the box shut but adding the heart kept the tip down.

I like the size of this box and I think it's going to come in handy for other things I make, including some of my clay stuff!!!  You can find the directions for the larger box here.  Like I said, I just cut my card stock 6" x 6" and scored and punched at 2" and 4".  Round one of the tips, that will be the flap of the box.  Fold on all the score lines.  Pinch in the two bottom corner pieces and glue them together and to the bottom of the box.  The original instructions just show you pinching the pieces.  I preferred to glue them so they would stay in place.  For the top two corner pieces I just clipped the one scored line next to the top of the box (on each side). I also trimmed that piece up a bit after clipping.  You will see that it looks a little too long.  Next I glued the bottom and side flaps together.  Make sure you get them even or your box will be lopsided.  I added the heart to the back of the box and then decorated the front.  Have fun with it!

Valentine's Day Candy Box Tutorial

Okay, you are going to have to be more creative with this than I was.  I have several to make so I tend to take the easy way out and decorate as little as possible.  This little box deserves a LOT more decorating than it has.

There's not a whole lot to making these boxes.  I found a place on the internet that you can make your own box simply by entering in the measurements.

Just go to the "Super Deluxe Tuckbox Template Maker" and have fun!  The measurements I entered to make this box are as follows: 8.78" x 3.75" x 1".  This size box holds 2 little Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.    It would probably hold 2 Rolos too, I didn't try it.  I was making this box to hold the peanut butter cups.  I added two hearts to the tops of the peanut butter cups.  I wanted to make the window bigger but the only way to do it was to cut it out by hand.  I didn't want to do that.  I wanted to use a punch and the oval one was the only one that would reach far enough into the box without cutting it at the corners and then being too large for the top.  So I used two oval punches and a piece of window sheet.

Some tips for you when printing out the box you create.  Set your printer so it will print on the lightest setting. You will also need to cut a piece of card stock for the bottom of the box.  If you don't do this you will see the words that print out on the box.  There's no way to get rid of them.  Plus the bottom of the box looks prettier with some color added to it!  And when cutting out the box, there is a part on one of the flaps that has another score line and a longer cutting line (you will know what I mean once you print one out).  Do not score on that line and do not clip the line longer.  That score and cut is so you can fold the flap back further once it's opened.  It's more for a deck of cards.  Oh, there is one more thing.  The side flap has a grayed out area where you are to tape or glue.  Tape or glue on the other side of that.  It looks awful sticking to the outside of the box, only because it's not cut the same size as the side.  I think that covers the tips!

Have fun with this and PLEASE be more creative than I was!

Envelope Punch Board Festive Flurries Christmas Gift Box

Last night I participated in a Christmas ornament exchange at Terri's Tuesday Technique Night.  I made my ornament and it needed a box.  I was just going to hunt for one around the house when I remembered that I could make one using the "Envelope Punch Board".  I found a great tutorial on how to make a box on the internet.  You can view it here.  I found it a bit confusing at first but only because I keep thinking square.  The paper is cut square but when it's scored it becomes rectangle!  So once I got past that square thing I was able to make my box.

For my box I used Whisper White card stock.  Then I just decorated it.  The card stock alone was too flimsy to be a sturdy enough box.  But once I embellished it with all sorts of stuff it was pretty firm.  I started out with a Silver Foil Sheet cut down to fit the front as a layer.  Then I added a piece of Whisper White card stock that I had stamped with the largest image from the "Fabulous Flourishes" set.  I used the new Smoky Slate ink and stamped off once.  Then I added 3 snowflakes that were made using the Smoky Slate ink, the silver glitter paper and Dimensionals.  Then I punched out 3 different size circles using the silver glitter paper and put them in the center of the snowflakes and all over the front.

For the thin sides of the box I just added a little strip of the Silver Foil paper.  On the back I cut triangles of the Silver Foil paper and layered a piece of Whisper White (cut in a triangle as well) on top of that.

For the closure on the back I just made another snowflake like I did in the front and placed it on the back so the tip of the envelope looking part of the box could be kept in place allowing the box to stay closed.

Now you will have to tune in tomorrow to see what went inside the box!!!

Color Me Christmas Fries

Yup, you read that right.  "Color Me Christmas Fries!".  There's lots of fun things you can do with a fry box!  I saw one someone had posted that had the Christmas Sixlets in them.  How cute was that?  They stood up like fries would in a box.  Though you'd either have to have a smaller fry box or a whole bag of Sixlets to get them to all stand up and not have the box look like you skimped on them.  I just find it easier to fill a sandwich bag with candy and tie it closed.  Then set it in the fry box and allow the candy to settle in the bag and box at the same time.  And this is what you get!

You can get your free pattern to the fry box right here. It's from Split Coast Stampers so you know it's a pattern you can trust.  It's been tested a lot of times by many stampers!

I made my fry box using Cherry Cobbler card stock.  I found a sample of this fry box at Pink Buckaroo Designs.

Once the box was put together I added a piece of decorative paper from the "Season of Style" DSP stack.  Because the paper isn't long enough to go around the whole box, I cut it off at the back edge of the sides of the box.  Who looks at the back of the box anyway?  All the fun stuff is on the front!  I glued the DSP on and set it aside to setup while I worked on the tree.

The tree is from the "Color Me Christmas" set.  I stamped the tree using StazOn ink and then colored it in with markers.  I used Old Olive for the tree, Crumb Cake for the trunk and Daffodil Delight for the star.  I didn't color the bulbs in because I was going to use the Candy Dots for the lights.  Before I put the lights on I used the oval die and cut out the tree.  I also glued the oval in place.  I wanted to make sure it wouldn't lift off.  If I had taped it, it may have lifted off because the fry box is not flat.  Once the oval was set up I filled a sandwich bag with candies and I tied the bag off using Baker's Twine and it was all placed inside the box.  As simple as that.  I would LOVE to have the time to make a whole bunch of these for the family for Christmas eve but I need 17 of them!!!  So I think I will be shelving that idea until next year or the year after!!!  LOL

This was a fun project to make.  It's quick too.  But then again I was only making one!

Thank you every so much for visiting today,

Bright Blossoms Greeting Card Holder

Since my sister was so generous to give me some fun little gifts (and I only gave her a card) I thought i would make her a pack of cards.  I decided to use the card I made the other day (you can see that card here).  These are colors that she really likes, that is why I opted to make a set of them for her.  If you notice, on these cards I added some greetings to the front.  It's something that I feel goes with a set of cards.  I suppose you could make them all blank so they can be used for any occasion but when I make sets of cards I like to have some type of greeting on the front.  I try to cover the basic 4 card needs, birthday, thinking of you, get well and thank you.

I thought about making some cards and having the words on layers with Dimenisonals but not setting them in place.  That way whoever gets the set can add the words they want by removing the backing from the Dimensionals.  I thought I would make a couple of each of the greetings.  But I have never done that yet, it has not gone beyond the thought!!  Maybe one of these days!

I have made a lot of these Greeting Card Holders, you can buy the pattern here. You can make as many as you wish with this pattern and you can decorate them up and sell the finished ones at craft fairs. I like to have a bunch ready for the fall craft fair.  My numbers are not in the "bunches" yet!  I make some and give them away!!  UGH!  Oh well, at least they made someone happy and that makes me happy!

You can see in the final photo that I had taken a card out for you to see how it looks with the words added.  I used the Word Window punch and the Label punch.  The words came from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set.

The base of the card is a half sheet of Whisper White card stock folded in half.  Then a 1/4" piece of card stock was dry embossed  using the Dotted background folder.  Then it was cut to 4" x 5-1/4".  The ribbon was tied around the layer before it was attached to the base of the card.  Then the images were stamped and punched out with a 1" square punch.  Then the real Red card stock was punched out with the square stamp punch.  Then they were set in place with Dimensionals and so was the whole dotted background piece.  The words were stamped and then punched out and set on top of the punched out label piece.  Then they were set in place on the card using Dimensionals.

These cards were quick and easy to make.  I did forget to mention that when I made the flowers I stamped the leaves using the Old Olive ink pad.  Then I used markers for the flower and the red dot above the flower.  I huffed on the markered images and stamped them just above the leaves.

I am sure my sister is going to like this set.  Like I said, these colors are something I know she likes.  It's SO "her!"

Bath Fizzy Gift Boxes Weekend Project

I made a few of these gift boxes up for Mother's Day gifts.  I'll be making more to sell at a later date.  I want to have some made up for the fall craft fairs too.

There are several ways you can make these.  You can make your own bath fizzies by using two small melon ballers and squishing the mixture together and setting them aside to dry or you can buy them (like I did this time).  I normally make my own but I usually make the bigger ones.  To find a recipe for the bath fizzies just do a Google search and you'll find a lot of them.  You can play with them and see which ones work the best for you and you can even come up with your own personal signature recipe for them like I did.

Another thing you can do is to make your own box.  The box measures 2-1/2" long x 1-1/2" wide v 1-1/2" deep.  I took the short cut on these and ordered the boxes from Clear Boxes .com.  I didn't have time to whip up a lot of clear boxes in a short time.  You can go to the Super Deluxe box maker website to enter in your measurements and it will print up a box for you that you can use as a template. Or if using card stock you can have it printed directly on your paper.  You really don't want to print directly to the window sheets because the black lines will show through.  And yes, you can print on the window sheets but it has to be with a laser printer and not a bubble jet.  So after my two short cuts of not making my fizzies and not making my boxes I began the assemblage.

I took the fizzies and set them in some little paper candy cups.  They look like tiny cup cake papers.  I set them in the box.  The two fit perfectly in the 2-1/2" space but there was a bit of wiggle room between the fizzy and the roof of the box.  SO I just took some shirt board (it's cardboard like the stuff on cereal boxes) and cut it in strips to fit inside the box.  It took 9 of them stacked to make it so these fizzies did not move around inside the box.  I just taped the 9 pieces together and then wrapped them in some decorative papers that matched the color of the bath fizzy.  I have a lot of scrap decorative papers so it was nice to be able to use a lot of them up.  After wrapping the shirt board pieces I slid the piece inside the box.  Then I added the fizzies.

No, it's not done yet.  I needed to head on over to my computer and make an ingredients and caution label for the bottom.  I ALWAYS add these, even if I'm not going to be selling them.  I just printed out the words on a label and ran a bunch off so I can add them to all the fizzie gift boxes I make.  Oh and don't forget the part about keeping it away from children and because it looked like a food item I did include on it DO NOT EAT.  Ya just gotta add that stuff!!  Then I tied a ribbon around the box.  I had gotten a HUGE spool of ribbon from Paper Mart . com.  It is a very soft pink.  Much like the color of Stampin' Up!'s Pirouette Pink.  I just tied it in a knot and clipped the ends.  I added a printed and punched label to the top of the box.  But before I added it I had sponged the edges so it dressed it up a bit.  I wanted to do some card stock layers there but this was SO much easier and quicker.  I bought a box of 8-1/2" x 11" label paper.  I just print out what I want on the sheet and punch them out as I need them.  SO simple.

I have a craft drawer full of bath fizzies waiting to be packaged up.  I'm hoping to get that drawer emptied this month!!!  I have dreams (or delusions) of getting a lot of the drawers in my craft room emptied!!  Wish me luck on that one!!!

These were fun to make.  It was very relaxing just to sit (except for getting up to cut some box board) and assembling the boxes.  I think they turned out nice.  I may make a few more up tomorrow and put them in the garage sale next week at cost.  There's always little kids shopping for something for mom for Mother's Day and this would be a nice inexpensive gift for them to get her.

Thank you ever SO much for visiting today,

Candy Bar Card Holder "Thing"

Don't you just love the title of this post?  LOL  Score Pal calls it a Candy Bar Card.  It's a very fun project.  I hope you decorate the front of yours better than I did the front of mine.  I may redo it later tonight.  I like the flower idea using the punch that goes with the Mixed Bunch set. And I did stamp one of the flower images from the Mixed Bunch set to put on the front.

To make this fun project I did go to Score Pal's web site and download the instructions for their candy bar holder.  I did get confused reading them though.  I wasn't clear on what side to score on.  I normally tell people to "score on the short side" or "score on the long side."  It seems to be wording that everyone understands.  So I struggled with it for a bit and then decided to just put the candy bar down on the scoring pad and just made the holder from there.  I am planning on making another one so when I get it done I will post my instructions and measurements here for you.

I used the Spice Cake decorative papers on the front, inside and even the back.  I had layered them on top of a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock.  The holder is made using a piece of Pool Party card stock.  It's such a fun and pretty color.

These are very fun gifts to make for birthday parties, co-worker gifts plus many other events.  And decorated for the holidays it would make a great stocking stuffer too!

I hope you have fun making them.  And like I said I will post my version of the instructions for you.  Mine is all one piece where the Score Pal one is two separate pieces.  Not that there is anything wrong with that, I just found their instructions difficult to follow.  I'm going to give their instructions another try.  I was in a bit of a hurry and the feeling of being rushed may have caused me to not quite understand what is going on with the instructions.  I'll keep you posted on that too!!! LOL  Ok, I'm off to teach a class at the bead shop!

Fresh Vintage Treat Tube

I'm trying to take photos only with my small pocket camera so I can get use to it so while my big camera is in being cleaned.  I wasn't aware that the big digital cameras are only good for about 10,000 photos before they need service.  I am close to that.  I am amazed at how many photos I do take.  So since I used the pocket camera on this treat holder I didn't get in as close as I would have liked to. When I did the flash would go off and all you saw as an outline of a box, a very white glowing box!!

This was not the project I was going to post for you today.  I did finish it but when I saw this one I just had to make it and then I just had to post it!  I will get the other project on here.  Though I don't think it's half as cool as this one is.

I used Lucky Limeade card stock and Everyday Enchantment decorative paper.  Inks used here are Lucky Limeade, Poppy Parade and Pool Party.  And the stamp sets I used are are Fresh Vintage and Petite Pairs (for the words because I didn't have the set used in the original box).  And in a way I was glad because I would have just copied it and I really didn't need a birthday box for anyone right now.

I did punch the tiny hole in the label piece wrong.  It should have been on the side.  I was just thrilled that I got it centered at the top!!! LOL  But being punched at the top worked out well too so I'm happy with the outcome of this box.

You can watch the fun and easy video on how to make this fun box at Chic'n Scratch.  It's not a very long video and the boring parts (like taping) are sped up so you don't have to sit and wait.  And speaking of taping . . . I would recommend adding the Sticky Strip before you attach the ends.  I found it ackward to work with it the way she was instructing. Watch the video first (something I don't always do and should so I know to try something different or easier) then make your fun treat box.

This would be a fun idea for stocking stuffers, using Christmas colors and the candies of Christmas.  Or even putting money in it and using it as a VERY cool money holder!  I'd like to play with this some more and see what else I can come up with!!  It has a LOT of potential.  And of course I will share with you what I make!

Thank you SO much for visiting today,

Valentine's Day Box Full of Love!

Today I whipped up a fun Valentine's Day box.  Ok, I didn't actually make the box today.  I made it a few weeks back.  I had ordered a box template that had a cover with it.  I was disappointed in the template and I returned it.  The template had two score lines between the natural "score" line of the box.  It made it very difficult to score it since it made two lines but you really didn't want to fold it there, you wanted to fold it in the middle of those two score lines.  It was difficult to work with so I returned it.  I had made this box and I struggled with it.  I was going to toss it but I decided to work with it, make something with it and not think about the struggle I originally had with it.

SO I used the Valentine's image from the  "It's a Wrap" set and I stamped Regal Rose on my mailing labels.  Once I got the labels put on my Hershey Nuggets I filled the box as you can see in the second photo.  I used the Sizzlets heart die and cut out the red heart.  Then I had the words printed from my computer and punched them out with the heart punch.  I used Glue Dots to put the pieces together.  I don't feel that the snail tape sticks well enough on the texture of that heart. And I also used Glue Dots to stick it to the top of the box.  Then I tied a white 1/4" grosgrain ribbon around the box and that was it.  Now you can make your own boxes too.  There is a box maker that you can access and make your own personal size boxes for free.  Just click here and you will be taken right to the site!  I have had a lot of fun making custom size boxes there!!

Anyway, here is the little Valentine's Day gift I have ready for a special friend!  And no, this is not going in the basket.  I already gave my friend the basket FULL of the Valentine's Day gifts I've been making for the last few weeks and she LOVED it!!!  If you missed out on seeing the full basket you can see it by clicking here.

Milk Carton Die and a Cadbury Egg YUM!!! Weekend Project

I'm posting a bit late tonight because dinner was late and hubby "cooked."  Now when I say "hubby cooked" it really doesn't mean he went in the kitchen and actually cooked something.  It really means that we went out to dinner!!!  I think I'd be afraid if hubby actually did cook!!  LOL

I thought it was time for a "weekend project."  There are 150 of them on y blog and you can view them by clicking here.

For this one I thought I would use the Sixxiz "Milk Carton" die.  It is one of my most favorite dies.  I LOVE making milk bath but I hated cutting and scoring the card stock for my own milk cartons.  This die sure saves a lot of time.  Plus it's a bit smaller than the ones I was making so I can save money on the contents too!!

When I made this one I took a piece of clear acetate and cut out the milk carton. Then I ran it through an embossing folder to add a bit more texture to the carton.

Once I found the score lines I did re-score them with a ruler and my stylus.  I held the top together with a ribbon.  I took my Crop-a-dial and punched the holes, threaded the ribbon and tied it in a bow.

I added my egg though the bottom.  I did make a little stand for the egg by cutting a piece of acetate 1/4" larger than the base of the carton.  I scored all four sides at 1/8" and I tried to punch a hole in it but the circle punch just didn't want to punch through all the way.  But it did punch through some so I was able to get my scissors in it and cut the rest.  I folded the score lines and I set the egg on it. Then I set the egg inside.  I taped the bottom flap only using the Stick Strip tape.  You need something strong to hold acetate shut.  It is what I used on the side to hold the carton together.

On the bottom I added a piece of Certainly Celery card stock that I punched with the "Eyelet Border" punch.  I did run my card stock through my Xyron machine so it was sticky on the back before I punched it out.  I then removed the protective layer and stuck the piece to the milk carton.  You can achieve this using the Sticky Strip tape but you have to be careful that you get it straight and don't cover the eyelets.

I stamped "Happy Easter" from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set and punched it out using the "Word Window "punch.  I used a piece of Sticky Strip and taped it in place just under the bow.  The egg didn't want to stay in place so I had to juggle it around a bit so it was back where I wanted it.  Silly little egg!!!

I find it a challenge to make these milk cartons with the acetate.  It is difficult to see the score lines and it's more difficult to put together than it is with card stock.  But it's such a pretty effect that I just couldn't help myself!!

Matchbox Die Purse Weekend Project

I made this adorable little box purse a while back.  I probably saw it on someones blog and just had to copy it.  If I did please let me know if it's your creation and I will give you full credit and a link back.

To make this box I used the "Matchbox" Sizzix die.  The base of the box is just cut out of plain card stock. I folded it up as usual.

Then I put the top piece of the box plus a scrap piece in the textured Cuttlebug folder (I'm not sure what that folder is called).  After I got the texture on the card stock I ran my VersaMark pad over it and sprinkled on clear embossing powder.  Then I heated the powder up.  For the flap of the purse box I cut the scrap piece (which was clear embossed) 1-1/8" x 2-1/8".  Before gluing it onto the front of the box I added a colored rhinestone brad to it and I used a corner rounder on two of the corners.

Oh and before I assembled the bottom part of the box I punched a hole in the end and added the ribbon.  After the ribbon was taped in I assembled the box bottom.  You don't want to tie a knot in the ribbon because it will be too bulky.  I just taped one end of the ribbon in one direction and the other end going in the opposite direction.  That will keep the ribbon as flat as possible.

These little boxes are adorable and they really don't take that long to make at all.  The embossing probably took the longest.

These would make great gifts for co-workers, a fun Make n Take, a quick Stamp Camp project and I may even make a few for the fall craft fair.  When I make them I think I will either use matching ribbon or color the ribbon to match.  The white ribbon is ok but it would be cuter if it matched.  These little boxes hold 4 Hershey Nuggets.  The are about 2" x 2-1/2" so you can find other things that size to fit inside them.  I was thinking about lip balm in it.  I am not sure if it will fit but there are so many brands out there and different sizes that I'm sure I will be able to find some to fit!

SO go have some fun making these!

Matchbox Candy Holder Weekend Project

I know St. Patrick's Day was a couple of days ago.  You had your fill of green beer or now the bruises from being pinched are turning green!!!  But I just had to show you this cute box that Autumn had made.  She used the "Matchbox" Sizzix die.  I don't play with that die as much as I would like to.  This little box holds 4 of the Hershey Nuggets.

The box is made using Wild Wasabi card stock.  I am not sure if that is decorative paper for the cover or if it's stamped.  The scallop was punched out using Garden Green card stock.

The cute shamrock was made using punched out hearts and the stem of the shamrock was drawn in.  And I'm not sure where the "Lucky" came from.  It was punched out using the Word Window punch.

I thought this was so adorable and with Autumn's permission, (thanks Autumn) I just had to share it with you.  This matchbox can be used for almost any occasion you can think of.  You can even decorate the candies.  I like to stamp on mailing labels and then wrap them around the candies.  When I wrapped the candies with stamped card stock it was difficult to get them all to fit nicely in the box.  And the card stock didn't want to bend as nicely as I wanted it to.

Sizzix Box #2 Basket Weekend Project

Once again I didn't remember to take the photo at an angle.  GRRR.  It's ok, you can still see all the elements of this cute basket!

I know.  It's about time I post a weekend project.  It's been a while since I have.

What I liked best about making this basket was I didn't have to do the majority of the cutting. And NO scoring!!!  I took a piece of Daffodil Delight card stock and cut out the Sizzix Box #2.  Then I cut the flap part off plus 3/4" more.  I did keep the flap part.  It is actually the top of the box.  I cut the small flap part off that and kept that rectangle piece.  It's the same size as the bottom of the box. Once I got the box glued on the side and put together on the bottom I glued that flap top inside.  Of course it's a perfect fit and it added some stability to the bottom of the basket!

The front of the basket is decorated with a piece of card stock I had wheeled on with "Posy Party" mini wheels.  I bought two of the same design and I put then both on the wheel handle and stamped them in Regal Rose.  I colored in the centers of the flowers with Daffodil Delight and I colored the leaves with Wild Wasabi.  And a few of the other flowers I colored in using Pretty in Pink.

The handle is a piece of Daffodil Delight card stock cut 5/8" wide and 8-1/2" long.  Before I set it in place on the basket I added a piece of rose colored ribbon to it.  You can kind of see that at the top of the handle.  To attach the handle I used two of the "Flower Brads".  I had bought them a while ago (probably because I saw a card done with them, of which I never did make) and I thought I should give them a try on the basket. The basket does have flowers on the front so why not add more to the sides and stick with the same "theme".

And you can fill the basket as you wish.  I added three filled eggs and they fit in there perfectly.  What a fun little gift for co-workers, friends, customers, teachers, etc.  Using the die you can whip up a bunch of these in no time.  Decorate them as you wish. Use decorative paper to make it even quicker!  Decorative paper for decorating of course.  Don't use it to make the basket, it's not strong enough to support three of these eggs. They are a bit heavy.

Have fun making them!

Morning Cup Sugar Holder Weekend Project

When looking back at yesterday's post the "Morning Cup Tea Bag Holder" I thought it would be fun to make a sugar holder.  Something I had more use for than the tea bag holder.  Ok, I may have had a use for the tea bag holder if it held the size tea bag packages that I have.  SO thinking on those lines I thought I would alter the pattern a bit to accommodate the sugar bags.

I took my printed pattern for the tea bag holder and after measuring my sugar packet I just rewrote the new measurements.  You can use that pattern for may other things you want to put in a dispenser.  I was thinking of even making one for "real" sugar!!  And now I'm thinking of remaking this one in greens to match my kitchen.  But for now I'll just use this one in my workroom.

What I found the most fun on both the tea bag holder and the sugar holder is the tea pot with the pearls pouring out of it.  I took a photo with a closer view of it. Though I think you can click on the photo and see things in more detail too.  The cup and the tea pot were set in place using Dimensionals.  I wanted them to be sticking off the paper a little to give it some depth and Dimensionals are the perfect thing to achieve that with.

The flower on top was made using the "Birds & Blossoms" die.  I have not used that one in a LONG time.  I forgot I had it!  And I did prop the flower up a bit by using two pop-up glue dots.  I sponged the edges of the flowers and then I set them on a foam surface and took my bone folder and pressed from the center to the end of the flower to get them to curl.  Once I was done with all of the pieces I put a little bit of tape on each one and then poked a hole in the center, attaching each piece together as I went.  I added a rhinestone brad to the center and was happy with the way it turned out. These are SO fun to make and they are just TOO darn cute!!! And in working with the sugar holder I realized how great it was to use up pieces of scrap decorative paper.  You can't beat a deal like that.  End result of using up your scrap paper is a cute little sugar holder box.  I can live with that!!! LOL

The email I received on this project did state that it would only be available for a short time.  You can click here to get your pattern to make the cute Tea Holder box. Once you make one of them then you can get the feel on how to make it for other items you want to be dispensed.

Don't you think they are just the cutest?

Thank you for visiting today and have a fun and creative weekend!
