Love You Lots, Playful Backgrounds, Congratulations Card

I found this fun card on Pinterest and I just had to give it a try.  I loved the ladybugs.  This is from the "Love you Lots" Hostess set.  I just had to have that set and only used two of the four character images in the set.  See how bad I wanted it???  LOL  I think I wanted it just for the ladybugs!!!

I didn't really do this card justice.  The top sponging is way too dark in comparison to the original card.  You can see the original card here. 

The base of this card is a folded half sheet of Whisper White cardstock.  On top of that is a piece of Watermelon Wonder that was cut 4-5/8" x 3-3/8".  The Whisper White layer was cut 4-1/2" x 3-1/4".  

I stamped the ladybugs first.  I didn't quite get them to hold hands like the original card has them doing.  I much prefer the poly stamps for things like that.  I colored them in with the Watermelon Wonder marker.

Then I stamped the circles and dots on the top using the "Playful Backgrounds" set and Watermelon Wonder ink.  I stamped the circles directly from the ink pad and I stamped the dots after stamping off once.  Then I sponged the top, which is SO much darker than the original card.  

I stamped the words using Basic Black ink.

And lastly I added the rhinestones.  The original card is SO much cuter but I still like this anyway!

Best Birds, Birthday Card, Pop-up Technique

And here is another Pop-up Technique swap card I received last month.  This card was made by Tanya.  I do not have the Best Birds set or matching dies.  I do like the bird, I have played with it a little but again, I can't have all the sets, it's not in my budget plus my workroom is getting pretty full! I never thought I could fill it up, but I managed!

I love how Tanya has the bird inside floating on the branch. You can't see it because I'm not good at taking photos!!  But when you open the card it gives the illusion of the bird landing on the branch. Pretty amazing!!

I do recommend you give this simple technique a try.  Soon you will be wanting to make a ton of floating cards!!!

Floating Pop-up Card Technique, Falling Flowers, May Flowers Framelits, Birthday Card

Here is a fun card I received in the "Floating Pop-up" technique swap last month.  I had it sitting on my worktable waiting to be added to my blog, but I had so many other things going on that it kept getting pushed back.

This card was made by Julie.  She used Peek-a-Boo Peach for the base of the card.  A folded half-sheet.  Then she added a layer of Flirty Flamingo cut 4" x 5-1/4".   Then she added a piece of the in colors 12" x 12" decorative paper pack.  The polka dots are so darn cute.

Next she die cut a scalloped square of Flirty Flamingo.  On top of that she glued the flower that was die cut from Dazzling Diamonds cardstcok.  The hearts in the corners are actually pieces from inside that die cut flower.  Pretty cool, huh?  

The inside of the card was decorated using the "Falling Flowers" set.

Flourishing Thinlits, Falling in Love DSP, Get Well Card

Simple cards at their best!!!  I had a left over piece of scrap from yesterday's "Bloomin' Love" card so I thought I would use it on today's card since the Perfect Plum color went well with it. 

I die cut the image using the "Flourishing" Thinlits die.  I did use waxed paper between the die and the cardstock to make it easier to remove from the die.  And yes, it REALLY does help!

The base of my card is Perfect Plum.  I added a layer of Very Vanilla cut 5-3/8" x 4-1/4".  Then I trimmed up the edge of my scrap "Falling in Love" Decorative Series Paper (DSP).  I trimmed 1/8" inch off so it measured 2" x 5-1/4".  

I glued the flourish in place.  To do this in a neat way that will cover the whole image, you need to spread some glue on a piece of waxed paper.  I spread the glue and folded the waxed paper in half. Then I took my bone folder and spread the glue evenly, you don't want thick blobs.  I made sure my piece of waxed paper was big enough for my image first.  Once the clue was spread I opened the waxed paper and then set my piece on top. I took another piece of waxed paper around the same size, preferably larger and pressed it on top. I ran my hand over the are to make sure the glue got to every part.  Then I removed the top piece of waxed paper.  I picked up the bottom piece and rolled it a bit so my image would lift off it.  I took that edge and gently pulled my image from the glue.  I set the image in place and pressed to make sure it stuck.  So quick and SO neat, oh and pretty easy too!!

The words were done on my computer.  Today I worked on the "Get Well Soon" wording for the PDF file I'm creating to add to my web store.  The one in there was designed for the 1-1/4" punch and scalloped circle punch.  It's an okay set of words but it's time for something new and fun.

I printed the words out on Very Vanilla cardstock.  Then I used the stitched oval to punch them out.  I used the scalloped oval die and Crumb Cake cardstock for the back layer. I set the words in place using Dimensionals.  And that was it.  Pretty simple. Not a lot of pieces and it was a quick card to put together.

Bloomin' Love, Anniversary Card

I made this card for our son and daughter-in-laws anniversary.  I can't believe it's been 5 years already.  Time is flying by SO fast.  

This was a very fun card to make and not all that difficult either.  I used Crumb Cake cardstock for the base.  Then a piece of Very Vanilla cut at 5-3/8" x 4-1/4".  I trimmed up a piece of the "Falling in Love" Decorative Series Paper (DSP) to 5-1/4" x 4".

I die cut the heart using the "Bloomin' Hearts" Thinlits and Sweet Sugarplum cardstock.  

The heart in the center was done by using the heart image from the "Bloomin' Love" stamp set.  It was stamped using Sweet Sugarplum ink and stamped off once, on Very Vanilla cardstock.  Then it was cut out using the "Hearts" Framelits. When I cut the hearts out I cut the flowers out at the same time.  I sponged the edges of the center of the flowers using Sweet Sugarplum ink.  I put them together and set them in place with tiny glue dots.  I set a half pearl in the center of each.  I also use glue dots to set the larger lacy looking heart in place.  

For the Very Vanilla heart, I used Dimensionals to set it in place.  The words are from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.  I used Crumb Cake ink to stamp them.  The banner is from the "Bloomin' Love" set and it was stamped using Sweet Sugarplum ink and fussy cut by hand. UGH!!!  You know how much I do NOT like to cut things out by hand anymore.  Stampin' Up! has spoiled me with all of those fun dies!

This was a pretty easy card to make and assemble.  It was fun to do too!  I wouldn't think twice about making more!!  I LOVE that DSP!!

Touches of Texture, Avant-Garden, Birthday Card

I had to make one more card using the "Touches of Texture" set before I put it on the shelf and move on to something else! Though it was fun playing with it, I must move on but I think I will revisit it in a couple of weeks.

I found this clean and simple card on Pinterest.  You can see the original card here.  I only made a couple of changes to it. I changed the wording because I didn't have the set that was used on it.  And I added the bee.  I thought he was so cute and I just had to put it on the card.  I was going to use the dragonfly up higher in the sky but I thought it looked nice just empty, so I went with the smaller bug!  And I kept it low.

I do like how this card turned out.  It's made with a single folded half sheet of Whisper White card stock.  The lace and dotted image and bee were stamped using Sahara Sand ink.  The flower and words were stamped using black Memento ink.  The flowers were stamped using Sweet Sugarplum ink and the leaves were stamped using the same image as the flowers but using Pear Pizzazz ink.  And that was it.  Super easy and minimal supplies!

Touches of Texture, Birthday Card

I was checking out Pinterest for some cards made using the "Touches of Texture" set.  I want to use this set a bit more than I have.  While surfing I found this fun card here, so I thought I would try to make one. I did change it a little and I do like how it turned out.

To make this card I used a folded half sheet of Sahara Sand cardstock.  It's one of those colors I don't use very often at all. Then I cut a piece of Sweet Sugarplum cardstock for the layer behind the Whisper White.  I did die cut the scalloped oval from the center of the Sweet Sugarplum cardstock before I put the card together.  No one will know that piece has an oval cut from it!  Plus it saves on cardstock.

I stamped the images using Sweet Sugarplum and Sahara Sand ink.  I added the rhinestones, and then I added the words.  The words were done on my computer.  I like them much better on today's card as compared to yesterday's card. 

This was a very fun and easy card to make.  Plus it was done in under 20 minutes!!!  Got to love those quick cards!

Shooting Star, Spinner Card

The "Shooting Star" spinner card set and matching dies are SO much fun to play with. They can be a little tricky to put together but with the help of those who have played with the set and got the bugs worked out for you, it's SO much easier to do.  You can see the tips I have for you here.

This card was made using the Dazzling Diamonds glitter paper that was colored using a sponge and Daffodil Delight ink.  The spinning star was stamped, die cut and colored before it was assembled.

The background was textured using the stars background embossing folder.

This set is a lot of fun to play with and who doesn't like getting a spinner card?  I had to play with every one I made!! That ways I could say that they were personally tested for quality assurance!!!  LOL  Though when you make them, you really should give them a few spins to make sure they roll smoothly around the circle.  You'd hate to give a faulty card out, especially to a kid!!!

A Timeless Textures Botanical Builders and Rose Wonder Birthday Card

Today I was surfing the net for a fun card to make using the "Timeless Textures" set. I saw one a while back which impelled me to buy the set but I didn't save the image, so I had to go surfing.  This little gem by Kelly from "My Papercraft Journey" caught my eye and I thought I'd give it a try. It looked simple enough to get my feet wet with this set.  It has an elegant look to it that I often like to see in cards.

To make this card I used Tip Top Taupe for the base of the card. Than a trimmed quarter sheet of Mint Macaron.  On top of that is the Whisper White. 

On the Whisper White layer I stamped the dotted bar image first.  Then the leafy looking one, both using Mint Macaron ink.  

The words I used are from the "Rose Wonder" set.  I don't know what set teh words that Kelly used are from, she didn't list it and I didn't have it.  

The flower was made using the "Botanical Builders" Framelits. I set it in place using a Dimensional. A glue dot holds the center piece of the flower in place and I added a pearl to mine.

This card went together very quickly and even though it's not the same as Kelly's card, I do like how it turned out.  This card could be used for a number of occasions other than birthdays, like sympathy, thinking of you, friendship, and Mother's Day.
