Here's a Card, Perennial Essence, Birthday Card

When I saw a card done using this "technique" (if you can call it a technique, I'm not sure what to call it) I thought it looked cool to emboss the edges.  You can see the original card here.

To make my this card you need a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  On top of that I added 3 strips of the "Perennial Essence" Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I cut the DSP into 1-1/4" x 5-1/4" strips.  I tried to get some Versa Mark on the edges but I found that a bit difficult to do, so I ended up taking some Versa Mark refill and a make-up type foam q-tip and I smeared the edges with it.  Then I sprinkled the gold embossing powder on it and heated it.  I didn't enjoy doing that at all, though I don't usually enjoy embossing with the heat tool anyway, and I don't know why. I love how it looks when you stamp a lined image and then emboss it but I just don't find a lot of joy in the process.  Oh well, I do it when I have to.

After embossing the strips, I set them in place on the card base.

The words are from the "Here's a Card" set.  I stamped them using black Memento ink.  Then I die cut them with an oval die and I die cut a scalloped oval using gold foil card stock.  I taped the words to the foil piece and I set the foil piece in place using Dimensionals.  And that was it.

There isn't a lot to making this card, it's just that darn embossing that I didn't care to do and when I look at this card, I don't care much for the look of it either.  LOL  So we know I won't be making another card like this any time soon!!! LOL

My post almost didn't happen tonight.  We had a storm come though.  Before it hit our neighborhood the lights went out.  They did flicker three times, they really did want to come back on!  LOL  SO I was in the dark for about an hour.  I had just started this post when the power went out.  But now it's done and I'll get it online in time. I was actually looking around the house to see what I could do with the amount of light that was barely coming through the windows.  Stamping wasn't one of them.  But I thought I could empty out the dishwasher and maybe Swiffer the dining room floor.  If it would have been later, I would have just gone to bed! LOL But I ended up making a peanut butter sandwich for dinner with some baby carrots and canned pears.  Couldn't use the oven, it's electric. Couldn't use the microwave, it's also electric!  And I didn't really want to go out in the storm to turn the grill on!!! So PB it is!  Easy and not many dishes!  So now I'm off to empty the dishwasher so I can put my dinner dishes in it!  And I'm charging up my phone, Kindle and my Ott light to prepare for round two of the storms.  UGH!  But the blog is done for tonight so I can shut the computer down.

Thank you SO much for stopping by today,
Wanda
