Softly Sophisticated, Grassy Grove, Meandering Meadow, Sympathy Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I thought I'd make a sympathy card since my stash is pretty low. Please read on to see how I made it.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. If you're not into saving on your colored card stock you can use a half-sheet of Blackberry Bliss. My layer is a piece of Blackberry Bliss that was cut at 4" x 5-/4".

I cut a piece of Mossy Meadow card stock to measure 5-1/8" x 3-7/8". I took a sponge and my black Memento ink pad and tapped on the ink. I thought the green was still too bright for the card but yet a piece of solid black would be too dark.

The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the "Meandering Meadows" 6" x 6" stack. There's a lot of beautiful scenes in that package and I'm looking forward to making some nice cards to share with you but for now you have to look at this card! LOL  I cut the DSP just a bit shy of 5-1/8" x 3-7/8", I didn't want any of it to hang over the edges of the card stock. I taped the card stock to the DSP and then I taped that to the Blackberry Bliss piece.  And then all of that was taped to the front of the card.

Next I die cut the deer from the "Grassy Grove" bundle using Pecan Pie card stock. I sponged a bit of black over it too to soften it a bit.

I struggled to find words for the card that would fit in the punches I had. I had used Basic White card stock for the words and then ended up with Smoky Slate card stock because the white was too bright. I used black Memento ink on the words from the "Softly Sophisticated" set. I punched them out using the scalloped oval from the "Double Oval" punch. I set the words in place using Dimensionals and the card was done.

I think maybe a little black sponging over the word piece might tone that down a bit so it doesn't stand out so much. Other than that I think it turned out rather well.

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's sympathy card,
Wanda

Combining that die cut with the Meandering Meadows dsp is a great idea. I have used it with New Horizons but will have to try this. TFS
