Oh Snap, Children's Birthday Card, 2021 Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog

I bought the "Oh Snap" set thinking the granddaughters would like to play with it but they weren't interested. UGH.  So I went on the internet to see what others were doing with it.  I found a fun card here and did a "pick and choose" from it to come up with my card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic Black card stock.  I die cut the scalloped circle and scalloped oval before I taped that piece down on my card.

I took a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Old Olive card stock and I stamped the feet alligator feet on it using Old Olive ink.  Then I taped it to the Basic Black piece.

The words are from the "Oh Snap" set and I stamped the "Oh Snap" using Old Olive ink and the "It's your birthday" using black Memento ink on Whisper White card stock.  I die cut the "Oh Snap" using the smallest stitched circle die and the "It's your birthday" was stamped using the smallest stitched oval die.

I stamped the alligator and bird on a piece of Whisper White card stock and I fussy cut both of them out. Yup, I fussy cut them!!! A tip on cutting all those teeth: I cut straight across on the top (tips) of the teeth and then went back and snipped the right side and then the left side and the little triangles between the teeth fell off. Some stuck a little bit but they were easy to pull off.  Here's another tip for fussy cutting: I am not perfect at my fussy cutting and sometimes I see white on the edges. When I am all done with my coloring, I will use a black marker and with my card stock on the belly of the marker, I will run it along the edge and color in the white. Then it makes it look like you are the best fussy cutter every!!!  I didn't get enough black under the alligators chin but for the most part I got the bulk of it.  I colored the alligator in using the light Old Olive Blends pen and then I added a little bit from the dark pen on the belly and under the chin and the spikes on the back. I colored over the dark using the light pen again.  I set the alligator in using Dimensionals. I cut some very thin to help support the jaw.

The bird was colored in using the light and dark Daffodil Delight Blends pens.  I also added a line of Old Olive between the legs because the white card stock showed through and I didn't want to fussy cut it there. I wanted to be sure the legs would stay intact!  LOL

I taped the "Oh Snap" in place and the "It's your birthday" was set in place using Dimensionals. I also added a Dimensional to the bird. I glued his feet to the top part of the  oval. I didn't want them loose and there was no way I could add a Dimensional there at all, there's not enough space.

I had some googly eyes so I thought I'd give the alligator some eyes.  He looked like he needed to see what he was doing.  LOL

I'm pleased with the way it turned out. I have very little children's cards. I will be playing with this set again but not for a few days. I'm going to have to think on it for a while. I am having regrets getting it because the girls didn't think it was a fun set.  I love the bird and there's a frog in there too I will have to see what I can come up with using him.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by today and have a look,                                    Wanda
