To A Wild Rose, Flourished Phrases, Sympathy Card

Today's card is a simple sympathy card. Sometimes I do keep stamp sets just for the words. My thinking lately has been that I should just get rid of them and if I need certain words I can just print them out on my computer and die cut them.  Or if I take the time, I can set it up to print right on the card stock and go from there. That takes a lot more time.  But for now I will keep this set and hope I have room for it.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. This card opens on the right and the fold  is on the left.

I took a quarter sheet of Basic White card stock that measured 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" and I textured it using the "Ornate Floral" embossing folder. I cut that piece to 1-3/8" x 5-1/2".  Then a 1/2" x 5-1/2" strip of Sea Side Spray card stock was cut and taped to the back of the embossed strip, leaving about 1/8" of it showing. You can leave more if you want more color. And you can also add another strip to the other side if you want color on both sides. Or you can cut a layer at 1-1/2" x 5-1/2" and tape or glue the embossed strip to it. Lots of ways you can work with this. Just make sure there's room for your words.

After making my strip I set it on top of my card so I could see where the words would go. I set the words from the retired "Flourished Phrases" set up in my Stamparatus and stamped them using black Memento ink.

Then I stamped the flower and leaves using black Memento ink. I stamped the solid flower image using Sea Side Spray stamped off once and the detail image using full ink.

For the leaves I only used the one image, I'm not sure if it's the solid image or the detailed one. It doesn't matter, you just want to stamp on the leaf once. I used Granny Apple Green ink on my leaves. Then I die cut both. I did have to make two sets of leaves.

I added Dimensionals to the back of the flower and tape to the back of the leaves. I set the flower in place but didn't press down yet. I slipped the taped leaves under it and then pressed down on the Dimensionals.

A few crystal rhinestones were added and I thought the card was done.  The flower still needed something so I added some Wink of Stella to the highlighted parts and then it was done.

This was a fun card to make and can be used for SO many other occasions like birthday, Mother's Day, thinking of you, thank you, friendship and get well.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see this easy to make sympathy card,
Wanda

Wanda, this is a very pretty card and, as you point out, very versatile. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your day!
