Storybook Moments, Simply Said, Children's Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a birthday card to share with you that could be used as a children's card too. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left. 

 I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Storybook Moments" 12" x 12" package. I taped it to the card base.

Next I cut some strips of DSP from the same package. They measure 1/2" x 3-3/4" and the Basic White layer behind them measure 3/4" x 4".  I taped the DSP to the layers and then that was taped to the front of the card. The bottom one starts about 7/8" from the edge of the card base and there's an 1/8" distance space between the strips.

Using the second smallest rectangle die in the "Nested Essentials" set I cut two Basic White pieces. I scrubbed on some Lost Lagoon ink on the bottom piece using my Blending Brush. I did lightly scrub a little bit on the upper piece too but not as much as the bottom piece. I just didn't want either of them to be so bright. I set the bottom one in place using Dimensionals. It's about 1/2" up from the bottom and 5/8" from the right edge. Though I think it could have been 3/4" from that edge so I didn't have to worry about the tail being so close to the edge. I thought it might hang over but I managed to move the fox over just enough. The fox came from the same "Storybook Moments" DSP package, there's two pages of punch outs that are filled with cute characters.  I set the fox in place using Dimensionals too.

Next the words from the "Simply Said" set were stamped using Lost Lagoon ink on the second rectangle. I set it in place using Dimensionals. It's 3/8" from the fold and from the top edge.

The cute little butterflies were punched out from that fun page and were set in place using Dimensionals and the card was done.

This was a fun card to make and I can't wait to play with more of those characters. I can't wait to get my hands on the bundle because there's some cute frames in there to set these characters on.

Heat Shaped, Simply Said, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have another heart card to share with you before I put the set aside for a while and play with my other stuff. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Timeless Plaid" 6" x 6" stack and I taped it to the front of the card base.

Then I took a quarter-sheet of Basic White card stock and stamped the heart from the "Heart Shaped" bundle using Mossy Meadow ink. I die cut the piece using the second largest die from the "Perennial Postage" set. I cut a 3-3/8" x 4-5/8" piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock for the layer. Before taping the Basic White piece to the Cherry Cobbler piece, I took the word die from the bundle and cut two pieces. Once they were cut I taped the Basic White piece to the Cherry Cobbler piece. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card.

The flower cluster was stamped next using Cherry Cobbler ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. This image is from the same "Heart Shaped" bundle. I cut them out using the matching die. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the right side of the heart. Tiny little pearls were added to the center of each flower.

Next I stamped the words. They are from the "Simply Said" set and were stamped using Mossy Meadow ink on a piece of Basic White card stock. I cut them out with the die from the "Heart Shaped" bundle. I added tape to the back and affixed one of the Cherry Cobbler strips to it. Then I added more tape and affixed the other piece. It make a pretty layer that went with the word piece itself. It almost looks like it's once piece. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the front of the card. 

I colored a few pearls using my dark Cherry Cobbler Blends pen. I set them in place on the front of the card and the card was finished.

I'm not overly thrilled with the card, it's a bit plain. If I were to make another one I would probably texture the Basic White piece after I stamp the heart. I think that would add a lot to it.

Heart Shaped, Simply Said, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I am having a lot of fun playing with the "Heart Shaped" bundle from the Sale-a-Bration catalog. I have been seeing so many wonderful cards using this set and I just want to make them all. I found this one on Pinterest. You can see it here. The image on the link is a different card so you will need to click through to see the variety of cards there. There were no measurements there so I had to wing it. Please read on to see how I put this card together. 

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top. 

For the layers I cut a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Daffodil Delight card stock and a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Bloom Impressions" 12" x 12" package you can get for free in the Sale-a-Brations catalog. Before taping the DSP to the Daffodil Delight piece I cut the label strip using the die in the "Heart Shaped" bundle. After taping the two pieces together I taped them to the front of the card base.

I cut a 3" x 3" piece of Basic White card stock. I should have stamped the heart image from the bundle using Old Olive ink. I didn't do it that way. I textured the piece using the "Forever Plaid" embossing folder. I glued it to a 3-1/8' x 3-1/8" piece of Daffodil Delight card stock. Then I taped it to the front of the card making equal space on the bottom, left and top. 

An Old Olive heart was die cut and glued in place over the stamped heart. I die cut two Daffodil Delight flowers and a pair of small Old Olive leaves.  The cluster of three flowers were stamped using Daffodil Delight ink and were die cut with the matching die. 

I set the cluster of flowers on the bottom of the heart so I could see where the die cut flowers and leaves would go. I glued those on first and then set the flowers in their place. I added three small pearls to the flower cluster and after I had taken the photo I had added two to the Daffodil Delight flower centers.

The words were stamped next. They are from the "Simply Said" set using Old Olive ink. I cut them out using the same die I had cut the Daffodil Delight strip. I offset the words on the Daffodil Delight strip and then set it in place using Dimensionals.

A tiny cute little "Tiny Bee Trinket" was added to the inside of the heart and the card was done.

I just love how bright and cheery this card looks. It has such an inviting feeling to it.

Layer of Beauty, Thank You Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a card to share with you that I found on the internet. I thought it was so pretty so I had to give it a try. I was a bit disappointed in some issues that I had. I'll tell you about them later in the post. You can see the original card here. 

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Basic White card stock and I stamped the flower from the "Layers of Beauty" bundle using black Memento ink. 

This bundle came with numbered stencils to make the coloring easier. Using my Blending Brush and the #1 stencil I scrubbed on some Lemon Lolly. Then with the second stencil I used Daffodil Delight and the third one I used Crushed Curry. When adding the Lemon Lolly the black ink smeared/smudged. I don't know if it was the Lemon Lolly ink or if the black ink wasn't 100% dry. So my flowers don't look very vibrant. I was disappointed in that. 

The 4th and 5th stencil are the leaves and I used Granny Apple Green for both of them. Now the ink did not smear/smudge. That's why I'm not sure if it was the Lemon Lolly ink or the black not quite dry. It may have been dry enough for the leaves.  Either way I an not thrilled with the way it came out. 

The words are from the same "Layers of Beauty" set and were stamped using black Memento ink. 

I colored some whitish looking sequins using my dark Granny Apple Green Blends pen and I glued them in place on the front of the card. 

This piece was then taped to the card base and the card was done. 

I love stenciling but this one wasn't as fun because of the smudging. If I were to make another one I think I would stamp it the day before and I would also stamp the flower on the upper right corner too. It's a little too white up there for me.

Heart Shaped, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a simple and pretty card to share with you. I found it on Pinterest. You can see the original card here. There were no instructions there so please read on to see how I put it together. 

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Pretty in Pink card stock that was texture using the "Starstruck" embossing folder. I glued it to the card base.

The Basic White layer was cut at 3" x 3". I stamped the heart from the "Heart Shaped" bundle using Soft Sea Foam ink. I stamped once and then stamped again a little above the first heart. Then I inked up the heart again but stamped on scrap paper first and then stamped a little below the first heart.

I die cut a Pretty in Pink heart using the die from the "Heart Shaped" bundle. I added a little glue to the leaves and set it in place on top of the Soft Sea Foam hearts.

The Soft Sea Foam ribbon end piece was cut using the "Nested Essentials" die. I used the largest one in that shape. I taped it to the back of the 3" x 3" square leaving some of it showing on the right side. I counted the "dots" and there's 10 of them before it disappears behind the 3" x 3" piece. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the front of the card about 1/4" from the fold.

I die cut two flower stems using Soft Sea Foam card stock and glued them to the right side of the heart. I did trim off the bottom two leaves before setting them in place on the heart.

The words are from the same "Heart Shaped" bundle and were stamped using black Memento ink on a scrap piece of Crumb Cake card stock. I cut them out using the die from the same bundle. I set them in place using Dimensionals.

And a couple pretty pink sequins were set in place on the lower part of the Basic White piece.

I tied a white Baker's Twine bow and glued it to the side of the card, along the edge of the Basic White piece and the card was done.

This was such a sweet, quick and easy card to make.

Happy Hibiscus, Heart Shaped, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a friendship card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock, it opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4' x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Starstruck" embossing folder. I glued it in place. It's difficult to get tape to stick when there is not a lot of solid surface space on the backside.

The strips of Designer Series Paper (DSP) are from the "Floral Delight" 12" x 12" package. Mine are scrap pieces that were sitting on my worktable. They measure 3/4" x 3-3/4" and the Old Olive layers behind them measure 1" x 4". I taped the DSP to the Old Olive strips and then I glued them to the front of the card. I started at the top about 1/2" down. I spaced the strips a little bit more than 1/8".  I often use round toothpicks for measuring spaces. I used two toothpicks for my spacing. 

Next I cut a circle using the 5th smallest one in the "Deckled Circles" set on Basic White card stock. I took my dark Daffodil Delight Blends pen and colored around the edges. I used the belly of the pen to do this.

The flower is from the "Happy Hibiscus" bundle. I used the die and embossing folder at the same time. I cut the flower from a piece of Basic White card stock. I colored it in using my light Lemon Lolly Blends pen. Then I colored all of the details on and around the petals. The center was colored in using my dark Daffodil Delight Blends pen. I also too that pen and went over a few of the details on the petals. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the deckled circle. Dimensionals were added to the back of that and it was set in place on the front of the card, centering it as much as you can by eyeing it.

The "hello" is from the "Heart Shaped" bundle and were stamped using Old Olive ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I trimmed it with my scissors and taped it to a scrap piece of Old Olive. Using my scissors I trimmed it too. I added a little glue to the left side and set it in place on the circle and the card was finished.

This was a fun and easy card to make. I love that I was able to use up some scraps sitting around.

Happiest Day, Bloom Impressions, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a scrap card to share with you. Please read on to see how I was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock that was textured using the "Starstruck" folder from the Sale-a-Bration catalog. I glued this piece in place. 

I wasn't sure where I was going with this until I saw the scrap piece of Designer Series Paper I had from the "Bloom Impressions" 12" x 12" package that was also from the Sale-a-Brations catalog. I trimmed it down to 4" x 2". I glued this to the left side of the card.

The words are from the "Happiest Day" set and were stamped on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock using black Memento ink. I cut them out using the rectangle die from the "Nested Essentials" set. I set the words in place using Dimensionals.

A Brass Butterfly was added to the right side and the card was done.

This was a very quick and simple card using scrap pieces for the focal points. It's nice to use up some of those scraps we tend to hang onto. It makes for a quick and simple card!  Emphasis on the "quick" part!

Heart Shaped, Birthday, Wedding, Anniversary, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a very versatile card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White, it opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Petal Pink card stock for the layer.  On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4"piece of Basic White card stock that was textured using the new "Starstruck" embossing folder. I took my Blending Brush and Petal Pink ink and scrubbed some on to add a bit of color.

The panels were made by using the second size die in the "Everyday Details" set. I cut two of Basic White.

The circle was made by using the largest die in the "Stylish Shapes" set. In that same set was that ribbon piece. I cut it in half and taped each end to the back of the circle. I did use a rule to get them to be exactly across from each other. 

Next I cut the heart using the die from the "Heart Shaped" bundle. Yesterday I had made a full sheet of colors using Petal Pink, Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo and Crumb Cake. I have lots leftover so I cut another heart and I cut one of Old Olive. I glued the Old Olive one down first and then the colored one. I cut three flower bunches from the set and used my Blending Brush and scrubbed on some Petal Pink. I think I may have added too much because it looks a bit like Pumpkin Pie but I kept it anyway. I glued them to the heart. In the photo it almost looks like they glow. In person it's not really that bright.

I die cut the word piece, it's a die from the same "Heart Shaped" bundle. I didn't know what this card should be. It just wasn't speaking to me. Wedding, Anniversary, Friendship?  What's it telling you?

Heart Shaped, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I'm working on a card using the Sale-A-Bration "Heart Shaped" bundle. I found this card on Pinterest and had to give it a try. There is a video that the gal did. I followed most of it. You can see the original card here. I had to look her up by the name stamp on the card, there was no link. Please read on to see how the card was made.

In the video we took a full sheet of Basic White card stock and our Blending Brushes and scrubbed on some Petal Pink, Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo and Basic Beige. Now I didn't have Basic Beige (I don't know why, I own everything else!! LOL) so I lightly scrubbed on some Crumb Cake and it worked just fine. Then we had to take our aqua painter and spatter some water over the piece. It doesn't really show up on the small pieces but I do know it's there. The sheet was cut in half after it dried and the heart was run through the Big Shot. I cut out three. I also cut out three flowers. I used the center of the heart to do that. The flower and the heart are from the "Heart Shaped" Sale-a-Bration bundle.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. When cut in half on the short side, it measures 4-1/4" x 11".  It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

A 3-3/5" x 5" piece of Petal Pink card stock was cut for the layer. It was set in place using Dimensionals. 

A 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" piece of Basic White card stock was cut for the top layer. Using the largest circle in the "Stylish Shapes" set it was cut out at the upper part of the card making equal spacing on the top and sides.

A 6" piece of ribbon was taped to the back. I didn't have any Petal Pink ribbon but I had some retired Pale Papaya that blended in just enough to pass. I have so much retired ribbon that I need to use it where I can. Maybe (if I ever use it all up) I can buy some current ribbons in the near future! The piece was then set in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals. 

The circle from that piece was used to scrub on some Petal Pink ink and a little Crumb Cake splatters were added. Now I had always flicked my pens but in the video she just took the Blends Pen and hit it with her bone folder and there were splatters! It was super easy and it doesn't ruin the tip of the pen. The circle was then glued in place on the front of the card through the opening it came from.

Next the hearts were added. I die cut three from a piece of the card stock I colored. I glued them down but I didn't add glue on the whole piece. It needs to have a loose look to it.

Then the three flowers were added using glue. I added a crystal rhinestone to the center of each.

The words are from the same "Heart Shaped" bundle and were stamped using Versa Mark and heat set with white embossing powder. They were set in place using pieces of a Dimensional and the card was done.

Isn't it pretty? I just LOVE the look of it. It's got such a soft welcoming feel. It's going out in the mail tomorrow. If I were to make another one, which I probably will, I would add some Petal Pink splatter to the front, it seems like it needs something more than just a ribbon. Though if my ribbon was a solid color it probably would look better. Either way I just like it.

Happy Hibiscus, Cake Celebrations, Anniversary Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have an anniversary card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left. 

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Peach Pie card stock and taped it to the card base.

Next I took a piece of Basic White card stock and die cut 3 squares using the smallest stitched square in the "Stylish Shapes" set. 

Behind the squares is a piece of Designer Series Paper (DPS) from the "Bloom Impressions" 12" x 12" package. This is a Sale-a-Bration item.

I taped the Basic White piece to the front of the card.

Next I cut the flower using the die and the embossing folder from the "Happy Hibiscus" bundle. Using my Blending Brushes I scrubbed on some Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie ink. I did color the center in using my light Cajun Craze Blends pen. 

Using the same "Happy Hibiscus" bundle I cut two leaves from Basic White card stock. I colored them in using both light and dark Granny Apple Green Blends pens. I glued the leaves to the back of the flower. Dimensionals were added to the back of the flower and leaves and they were set in place on the center of the squares.

The words are from the "Cake Celebrations" bundle and were stamped using Granny Apple Green ink. I cut them out using a die from the "Stylish Shapes" set. I also cut a Peach Pie card stock piece. I cut this piece in half and taped each half to the edges of the word piece. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card.  And the card was done.

This was a super easy card to make. I think I want to make some more Hibiscus flower and color them with the Blending Brushes. I had colored some before using the Blends Pens but it took away some of the detail from the flower. I like the way this flower looks.

Labeled With Love, Bloom Impressions, Thank You Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a thank you card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Distressed Tile" embossing folder. I glued this to the front of the card base.

Next I cut a 1-1/2" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Bloom Impressions" 12" x 12" package from the Sale-a-Bration book. I glued it to the front of the card about 1" from the bottom edge.

Using the square dies from the "Stylish Shapes" set I cut the framed piece. I used the third and fifth dies. I taped them to a piece of Basic White card stock and cut them both together.

The "thanks" is from the "Labeled with Love" bundle and was stamped using black Memento ink. The word piece actually reads "thanks friend" but I masked the "friend" part off because it wouldn't all fit on the square. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the front of the card about 3/4" from the bottom and right edge.

I added some sequins from the "Itty Bitty Bokeh Mix" container using some mono glue.

And for a final touch I added a brass butterfly to the square. That was it, the card was done.

This is a very quick and easy card to make. It's a perfect way to use strips of scrap DSP.

Happy Hibiscus, Unbounded Love, Sympathy Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a quick and simple sympathy card to share with you. I got the idea for it on Pinterest. You can see the original card here. There were no instructions, so please read on to see how it was made.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

Using the square dies from the "Stylish Shapes" set I cut out two from Basic White and one using Basic Black card stock. I used the first, second and third largest squares in that set.

Taking the smallest piece I textured it using the die from the "Happy Hibiscus" bundle. I glued that to the Basic Black square and then I taped them to the Basic White square.

I set the squares on top of the card to see where the words were going to go. The words are from the "Unbounded Love" bundle and were stamped using Smoky Slate ink. I think Basic Gray or even Basic Black would have been a better choice. At first I thought those two colors might be too dark but once I stamped the words with the Smoky Slate I realized it was a mistake but I'm keeping it anyway. I could have used the card for something else but I have a pile of "for something else" and I don't need to add to it.

Anyway, the card is finished. It's very quick and easy too! Clean and simple. It probably took me longer to type this up and get it posted than it did to make the card!  LOL

Friendly Seagulls, Simply Said, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a friendship card to share with you. I found a card on Pinterest and I liked the a lot of parts of it. I changed it a bit. You can see the original card here.  Please read on to see how I made the card.

The base of the card is a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Gray Granite card stock. I cut a piece of Daffodil Delight that measured 4" x 5-1/4" and taped it to the Gray Granite piece.

Next I cut the Basic White piece. It measures 5" x 7-1/2" and I folded it in half. A 3/4" x 5" piece of Gray Granite was cut for the center strip and a 1" x 5" piece of Daffodil Delight piece was cut for the layer.  I stamped the shells and bubbles from the "Friendly Seagulls" set using Gray Granite ink. Then I taped the piece to the Daffodil Delight strip and then that was taped to the front of the card. It's not quite centered but pretty close, it's about 1-1/8" from the bottom edge of the Basic White piece.

The gull was stamped next using black Memento ink. I colored the beak in with my light Pumpkin Pie Blends pen and the wings were colored using my light Gray Granite Blends pen. I punched the bird out using the 1-3/4" circle punch. I used my Blending Brush and Daffodil Delight ink and went around the edge of the circle. Dimensionals were added to the back. I set the piece on top of the card front but I didn't remove the backing from the Dimensionals. I needed to see where the words would go.

The words are from the "Simply Said" set and were stamped using black Memento ink. 

I stamped the birds in the sky using Gray Granite ink. I taped the folded Basic White piece to the front.

The gull was set in place on the front of the card and the card was done.

This was a fun card to make. I like the clean and simple look of it. And I like the way it opens. This layout allows you to use some fun colored card stock layers and not using a full half-sheet.

Cake Celebrations, Spotlight on Nature, Unbounded Love, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a piece of Design Series Paper (DSP) from the "Bloom Impressions" 12" x 12" Sale-A-Bration package. It was cut at 4" x 5-1/4" and then cut from the top right corner to the bottom left corner. I taped it in place on the front of the card base.

The circle is from the "Spotlight on Nature" bundle, it was cut from a piece of Basic White card stock.

The cake stand was stamped next. It's from the "Cake Celebrations" bundle. I stamped the "cake" part using Lemon Lolly ink and the "frosting" using Daffodil Delight ink. I stamped them so they were stacked on top of each other and then I fussy cut them out.

Using Gray Granite I stamped the cake stand and the words from the same set.

The words were cut out using the die from the "Unbounded Love" bundle.

Boho Blue was used to stamp the flowers and the leaves. The leaves were stamped by inking the piece and then stamping off on some scrap card stock and then stamping on a piece of Basic White card stock.

The flowers were stamped using full ink. I cut the flowers, leaves and cake stand all at the same time.

Dimenisonals were added to the back of the cake and stand and the were set in place on the circle. I added the stand first about 5/8" from the bottom edge of the circle. Then the cake was set on top of the stand.

Using glue I added the flower. A tiny pearl was set in the center of each flower.

Dimenisonals were added to the back of the circle and it was set in place on the front of the card about 3/8" from the top edge of the card.

I added three small Dimensionals to the bottom of the word piece and a little glue to the center of the upper part and I set it in place on the front of the card and the card was done.

This was a fun card to make and I was glad I was able to use the Sale-A-Bration DSP because I didn't have what was used on the original card. It's always fun when you can make things work.
