Cookie Cutter Christmas, Hang Your Stocking, Gingerbread Boy Card

I had taken a photo of a card using the "Cookie Cutter Christmas" set.  My card didn't turn out like the original. Which is okay and also makes this card an original!!!

I used Early Espresso for the base of the card, mostly because that is what is used on the tiny images in the "Candy Cane Lane" Decorative Series Paper (DSP).  

I used the "Falling Snow" embossing folder on the Whisper White layer.  Then the layer behind the DSP is from the "Candy Cane Lane" pack. 

The gingerbread boy was stamped using Early Espresso ink.  It's a VERY dark brown but it looks black in the photo.  There is no Basic Black used on this card.  I set the words and the gingerbread boy in place using Dimensionals.  

It was a fun and easy card to make.  I wished I would have seen this one before I figured out our Christmas card.  It has a lot of pieces to it and it is taking a lot of time to make.  UGH!  Why do I always do that?  To make the first one was no big deal.  But when you have to make a bunch of them, well, it not only takes a lot of time but it also gets a little boring!!!

Hang Your Stocking, Christmas Card, Candy Cane Lane Decorative Paper

I took a picture of this card at Terri's "Holiday Extravaganza in September.  It was on Shelley's display boards.  I did change the card a little, only because I didn't have the wording she used.

Her card read "wishing you a sweet season".  It was stamped in black and stamped before it was textured.  She had the star to the left of the wording.  Mine is kind of the opposite.  I am saying kind of because my wording is on a separate piece of card stock and it's layered. Hers was directly on the background piece.  

I tried to out the star to the left, near the left edge but when I set the wording on the card, it looked out of place.  It wasn't making my eyes move around the card. It kind of got stuck in the top center of the card.  So I moved the words to the left and then set part of the star on top of it and I liked that SO much better.  So, like I said, it's kind of like Shelley's card, but not!

It was a fun card to make.  I'm glad I wasn't making a lot of them because the little images were from the "Candy Cane Lane" Decorative Series Paper and were cut by hand.  I'm not so fond of fussy cutting anymore!!  

I didn't have enough Real Red Baker's Twine so I went in my sewing stuff and found some DMC floss in red and used it.  It doesn't match the Real Red twine but it worked just the same.  Sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do!!

I think it's an adorable card!!

Tin of Tags, Christmas Cards, Stamp A Stack

Last week I was at Terri's Holiday Stamp a Stack. These are one of 5 sets of cards we made. For this set we used the "Tin of Tags" set for the wording.  The decorative paper is from the "Presents & Pinecones" pack.  

We stamped the words on the tag we punched out.  Then we added a piece of Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine.

These were very quick and simple to make.

Layering Love, Flourishing Phrases, Elegant Butterfly, Wedding or Anniversary Card, Background Technique

Today's card is one I did last month at Terri's Stamp a Stack.  It was fun to play with the stamping blocks.  I have not done this technique before.  I found it fun, interesting, creative and even a bit messy!!!  

We took the largest clear block and inked it up with Smoky Slate.  Then we set our card stock (Smoky Slate) on top, covered it with a scrap piece of paper and rubbed across it to get the ink to transfer to the card stock.  That was pretty much it. Each one looked different and I thought it gave the card stock the look of suede.  

We used the "Fancy Frost" Specialty Paper for the white strip.  The butterflies were punched using the "Elegant Butterfly" punch and we used the Gold, Silver, and Copper colored Foil Sheets.  We added pearls down the center of each butterfly. They were set in place using Dimensionals.  It's a pretty simple card and yet elegant.

Touches of Texture, Thinking of You Card

I was in need of get well cards.  So I looked through my stamp sets and I thought I would play with the "Touches of Texture" set.  I have not played with it much. It's got lots of fun images in it and it's a big set.  I keep the two containers rubber banded together so when I grab the set off the shelf I have all of it at my worktable.

For my card I used the flower image.  I stamped it using black, Memento ink.  I stamped the stem with leaves using Old Olive ink.

I colored in the flower using a Blender Pen and Pumpkin Pie ink.  I colored in the leaves using Old Olive ink.  The words are from the "Wetlands" set.  I didn't have any get well wishes wording in any of my sets.  I sure do miss the Sincere Salutations set.  

I used a half of a doily.  Under the doily I used the dotted splatter image from the "Touches of Texture" set.  I used some Washi tape from the "Playful Pallet" and "Halloween Nights" spools.  It was nice to still be able to use some of that Halloween Washi tape. I end up with a ton of Washi tape after they retire.

The words were set in place using Dimensionals.  Everything else was just taped in place.

These were fun and easy to make.

Fruit Stand Designer Paper, Flourishing Phrases, Birthday Cards

Today I am going to share with you some fun cards I made at Terri's October Stamp-a-Stack.  

It's difficult to see in the photo but the card opens where the white piece ends on the front.  In other words, the front piece is not the apples and a strip of white.  The white is actually the inside of the card.  What a fun layout.  And the words hang over a little onto that white (inside) piece.

These were very fun and quick cards to make.  I made two birthday cards and one thank you card.  

I like this layout. I am going to have to try it again soon.

Pivot Twist Pop-up Technique Cookie Cutter Christmas Card

Tonight I am teaching this technique at Terri's "Tuesday Technique Night" class.  I am SO looking forward to it.  This is one of those fun Pivot Twist Pop-up Techniques.

It's pretty easy to do, once you figure out what you are doing. My very first one turned out but the ones after that got better, easier and quicker to do.

I hate to do this to you but I'm sending you to the link of the last card I made using this technique.  I want you to go there because I've added some time saving tips.  That card is here.

When you are there and have read and made note of the tips then go to the link that is on there to see how to do the technique.  You will find it rather easy.  I had viewed many video's on how to do this technique but I found the one I've linked there to be the easiest.  Some were complicated and wanted you to trim up the mechanism.  I didn't want to do any trimming, I didn't want to trim off too much or find later that I should have trimmed more because it's hanging over the edge.  So when I found one you didn't need to trim up, I was hooked.  I worked with it, worked through any issues and then shared it with you.

For my card I used the "Falling Snow" embossing folder.  I used the "Candy Cane Lane" Decorative Series Paper, and I used the Gingerbread boy from the "Cookie Cutter Christmas" set and matching punch.  That punch is why you are seeing 4 gingerbread boys.  If I had to cut them by hand there would probably only be 2 of them!!! LOL

Cookie Cutter, Hang Your Stocking, Candy Cane Lane, Christmas Card

Here's a fun card I found on Pinterest that I had to copy. Mostly because I had the pieces to make it plus I did like it VERY much!  You can see the original card here.  

I did change a couple of things on the card.  The original card has the base of it being Real Red.  I made mine Crumb Cake.  I thought it looked better that way to me.  And the words were not only different but I set them in place using the oval dies and Dimensionals.  When you add words to a textured background, you need to do the words first and then the texture.  Stamping on texture is very difficult. So I decided to avoid that whole mess by just stamping the words separate and adding them as a layered piece.  

this card is just TOO cute.  I want to play more with this adorable set!

Wrapped in Warmth Candy Cane Lane Christmas Card

Today I am going to share with you one of the cards I made at Terri's fun Holiday Stamp-a-Stack.  We made all holiday cards and they were all fun and fabulous!

For this card we used a folded half sheet of Whisper White card stock.  We added a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Real Red card stock.

On the left we added a strip of "Candy Cane Lane" Decorative Series Paper (DSP).  Next we added the doily.

We cut out the gingerbread house by hand. That image came from the "Candy Cane Lane" DSP.  It was set in place using Dimensionals. 

It was a very fun, quick, easy and adorable card to make. And of course, in a Stamp-a-Stack we made 3 of one design.  The houses and the DSP were different from each card but all were from the "Candy Cane Lane" DSP pack.

Folded Origami Christmas Tree Technique Christmas Cards

This is the perfect time of year to learn a new technique like this! A paper folded Christmas tree. It's a very easy technique too!  

I took the largest circle framelit die that Stampin' Up! has and cut a piece of decorative paper.  One circle makes 2 trees. There's no need to measure to find center, just fold the paper in half and firmly burnish.  Then fold it the opposite way and firmly burnish that side.  Repeat a couple of times and then the paper will tear easily.  

Fold the paper as the directions here show you how.  

It's super simple and so cute.  I do like how these instructions show you how to trim up the bottom. I think it makes the tree look more level. even and straighter.  You can see those instructions here.

This is the technique I am going to use for the swap next week. I'll share my finished card with you when I get it done!

Hang Your Stocking, Christmas Stockings, Christmas Card

I found a fun card by Michelle at I Card Everyone.  It was not a Stampin' Up! image but that didn't stop me from trying to convert it.  Her card was made using a snowflake punch that not only punched the snowflake but the border all at the same time.  I couldn't find where it came from but that's okay, I can duplicate it (sort of).

For my card I used a snowflake from one of the stockings from the "Christmas Stockings" Thinlits.  I had cut it using the Dazzling Diamonds glitter paper.  

I used the square Framelits to make the frame. I used the two together in the Big Shot.  They nestled well together, so I figured I'd just see what I got and I got what I wanted!!  A scalloped frame.  The original card is not scalloped.  

I stamped the words and snowflakes from the "Hang Your Stocking" set using Versa Mark and white embossing powder. My embossing shows up a bit vanilla/yellow here because of the lighting in my workroom. But that's okay, it helps you see it better.  But to see it even more clear, just click on the photo!!!

The blue background was done using some rubbing alcohol, a few drops of Marina Mist inker and a couple drops from my "Wink of Stella" painting pen.  I wanted a little sparkle to the blue background. I just spritzed the card stock and let it dry.  I used a square Framelit to cut a piece out to fit over the back of the frame.  I did trim up the ends of a few of the snowflake tips so they wouldn't make the frame bulge.

I taped the snowflake frame layers in place after I had done my embossing.

The top layer seemed a bit flimsy, plus it was kind of warped from heating it up, so I taped it to another piece of Whisper White card stock and trimmed it up.  I set that firm layer in place on a folded half sheet of Whisper White card stock using Dimensionals.  And that was it.  I think it's adorable!!!

Pivot Twist Pop-up Rose Wonder Garden Thank You Card

This card technique may look intimidating but it really isn't.  Not done this way. The one I found intimidating was the one where you had to trim up the mechanism after you constructed it.  These instructions have you making the mechanism different and when you fold it on the score lines, it's done!

There are some tips I have learned along the way and I'll share them with you here.  When you go to tape the mechanism piece in place, put the tape on the entire triangle using strong tape. Then set it in place on the inside of the card. Make sure you get the tip of that triangle right on the fold like of the card base.  The sticky side is facing you so you can move that piece around until it's centered. It doesn't have to be perfectly centered but close.  Then close the top of the card.  Next, open it up and tape the entire triangle on the other side and close the card.  If you have the tape facing you it makes it easier to move the piece around.  All of the other instructions I saw had you just taping it in place like you would a layer.  It didn't matter if you had the tape facing you, so that is how I do it.  And when you tape the valley, mountain, valley folded piece in place, you want to fold it in half. That way you can see center. Line it up with the edges of the mechanism piece and press in lace.  Open the piece up and adhere it to the other side.  Doing it this way will save you some frustration in getting that folded focal piece to be centered.  When you are done make that center fold a mountain fold again.  Close the card to test the mechanism. It should work perfectly!!!

When making these, keep in mind that you don't want a lot of bulk on the inside valley, mountain, valley folded piece.  It ha to close up and it's bulky enough.  

You can add decorative paper to the inside before you add the mechanism piece or you can add it later.  With this card, I cut two piece to fit the space below the mechanism piece.  Follow the video and use my tips and you will be whipping up these in no time!!

Cookie Cutter Christmas, Gingerbread Boy Christmas Card

Well, if I hadn't already decided on what I was going to make for our Christmas card this year, this would have been my card.  I LOVE how this cute little guy looks on the card. 

This was another easy card to make.  There's a few layers to it too! The base of the card is Real Red. Then a layer of Crumb Cake and then the Whisper White piece that was embossed with the "Falling Snow" embossing folder.

A 1" piece of "Candy Cane Lane" Decorative Series Paper was used and a 1-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Real Red card stock was layered behind it and taped in place.  A piece of Real Red Baker's Twine was tied around it.

The gingerbread boy and words were set in place using Dimensionals.  And that was it.  You can see the original card here.  I used different wording because I didn't have the same ones used on the original card.

Such a cute card to put together quickly!!

Cookie Cutter Christmas, Gingerbread Christmas Card

I found a fun card to make on Pinterest. I LOVE gingerbread boys and this card caught my eye.  I used the "Cookie Cutter Christmas" stamp set and matching punch.  I LOVE it when sets come with punches, though the dies are nice, I can sit at my worktable with a punch and not have to get up to go to my Big Shot. Just lazy I guess!!

For this card I needed to stamp and punch 2 gingerbread boys.  I used the "Candy Cane Lane" Decorative Series Paper on the left side of this card, with a layer of Basic Black card stock.

The words are from the "Hang Your Stocking" set.  I stamped a few of them before I returned the set.  I LOVED how those words looked.  Plus, I didn't have the ones that are on the original card, which you can see here.  I like how the card looks both ways.  The words and the gingerbread boys were set in place using Dimensionals.

This was a very quick and fun card to make.
