Snowman Magic, Penguin Place, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

This was not what I had in mind when I started making this card. I was working with this layout and I wanted to do a Santa card but I ended up with a snowman card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Poppy Parade. I cut the card stock on the 8-1/2" side so when the card was cut it measured 4-1/4" x 11".  I folded it in half and added a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of  Basic White on the inside.

I cut the bottom part of the front off at 1-3/4".  Then I cut a 4" x 3-1/2" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Santa Express" 12" x 12" package. I taped it to the front of the card.

Then I die cut a Poppy Parade scalloped edge piece using the die from the "Color & Contour" bundle. I used the next smaller die and cut a Basic White piece.

The snowman came from the "Snowman Magic" set. I die cut it with the matching die using some glitter paper. Then I stamped an Early Espresso hat and a Garden Green scarf. I set the snowman on the Basic White piece for placement for the arms. Those were stamped using Early Espresso ink.

The face of the snowman was stamped using black Memento ink. I colored the nose with my dark Pumpkin Pie Blands pen.

I glued the snowman to the Basic White piece. Then The had and then the scarf.

The words are from the "Penguin Place" set and were stamped using black Memento ink.

What happened next was maddening. I had touched the snowman's face area and the Memento ink did not dry. I debated whether or not to use it. I was going to go with Staz-On but I thought I'd have trouble with the Blends pen.  I think I should have gone with the Staz-On.  I ended up getting some black dots around the side of the hat and the arm on the left. So I took the snowflake image from the "Penguin Place" set and stamped off once with Balmy Blue ink and covered the upper part with snowflakes.

The focal piece was glued to the Poppy Parade scalloped piece and then that piece was set in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals. But make sure the Dimensionals don't go beyond the cut edge of the front of the card or the card won't open. And no, I didn't to that (this time!!!LOL).

This was a very fun card to make and maybe tomorrow I'll do something with Santa.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see today's Christmas card,
Wanda
