Snowman Magic, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

I am such a big snowman fan. Living in Minnesota you learn to live with the snow and cold in the winter. I love the snow and the cold is okay but the ice storms are not. We don't have many but it only takes one to make you stay indoors.  I used to make a snowman every year but some of the last few winters the snow isn't snowman snow. You have to have the right snow!!  And this year I won't be able to make one due to my hip needing replacing, but watch out next winter!!! LOL  

My card was made by using a folded half-sheet of Night of Navy for the base of the card. This card opens on the right and the fold is on the left. 

I cut a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the 6" x 6" "Lights Aglow" package. There's 48 double sided pieces in this stack. For my card I used two different pieces. The red one was cut at 5-1/4" x 1-1/4" and the lighter colored piece was cut at 5-1/4" x 2-3/4". I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock to tape these pieces too. Actually I cut two, one for the inside of the card. The white paper has fun colored dots, red, blue, gold and green.  And the gold is metallic. It's very pretty in real live. I don't think it shows up if you click on the pic to enlarge it.  Anyway, once the DSP was taped down I added the sparkling "Iridescent Trim" to the spot where the two colors meet. This trim is a bit thicker than I'm used to working with. I used the Tombow glue to set it in place. I set a couple of punches on top to hold it in it's place till the glue sets.

The snowman is from the "Snowman Magic" set and was die cut using the white glitter paper. If you have read a few days ago about the snowman in the shaker card, I did do what I thought would work. After die cutting the snowman, I die cut the face. I saved the nose. I had cut 2 snowmen, one from the glitter paper and one from scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I colored in the face area with my Basic Black marker on the card stock snowman.  I die cut the arms from Crumb Cake card stock. Soft Suede would have been a better choice. I glued them to the back of the glitter piece. Then I glued the two snowman pieces together. Now the arms are sandwiched between the snowman bodies. Much safer! 

Next I colored the nose using my dark Pumpkin Pie Blends pen. If you use your marker the ink won't dry on the glitter.  When I colored it in, I gently taped the marker on the nose piece. "Drawing" across it could ruin the pen tip. Then I glued the nose back in place.

I die cut the hat using Basic Black card stock. I also cut a very thin strip of Daffodil Delight card stock for the band. I glued that in place. The scarf was die cut from a scrap piece of Night of Navy card stock. I glued that in place too. I took my Light Petal Pink Blends pen and tapped on some "blush" on the cheek areas. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set aside.

The background oval is from the "Rings of Love" DSP 12" x 12" package. I die cut it using the oval from the "Fabulous Frames" die set. I also die cut a Basic White one. I turned them over and scotch taped the two pieces together. Dimensionals were added to the back, except in the area where the oval touches the trim and the piece was set in place on the front of the card. It's centered from left to right but moved up a bit from center on the top to bottom. I wanted to have some room for the words.

The snowman was then set in place on the oval. The words are from the same "Snowman Magic" set and were stamped using Night of Navy ink. I trimmed this piece to measure 2-7/8" x 3/8" and the Night of Navy layer was cut at 3" x 1/2".  I used Dimensionals to set it in place, making sure not to put one where the trim would be.

I tied a bow using the Iridescent trim and I glued it in place. I set a punch on top to hold it in place while the glue dried. The 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock was added to the inside and the card was done.

This was a fun card to make and I just love this little guy!! He's SO cute!
