Days to Remember, Fresh as a Daisy, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog.  One more day until the new catalog is released. And then I have to wait (what seems like an eternity) for the order to arrive. And you know I will be sitting at my table today fine tuning my order!  But in the meantime I will posting cards that could use retired items.  Today I made a birthday card using the "Days to Remember" set which is retiring. I will miss this set and the punch that is used here too. Please read on on to see how I made today's card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Early Espresso card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left. 

Two 4" x 5-1/4" pieces of Basic White card stock was cut, one for the inside and one for the outside. The inside piece was taped down. The outside piece was textured using the "Distressed Tile" embossing folder. I glued that piece down on the front of the card.

I cut a 4-1/3" x 2-1/4"piece of Early Espresso for the layer and the Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Fresh as a Daisy" 12" x 12" package was taped to the Early Espresso layer and that was glued to the left side of the card, keeping it equal on the top, bottom side by the fold. I just eye it as best as I can. 

The words are from the "Days to Remember" set and were stamped using black Memento ink. I punched them out using the "Double Oval" punch. Using the same punch I punched out an Early Espresso scalloped oval. I taped the two ovals together, added Dimensionals to the back and set the piece in place on the front of the card.  And that was it, the card was done. 

The DSP was sitting on my worktable and I was happy that I was able to make it into a simple and quick card. I'm not fond of the card stock being so dark but it matched the DSP. But other than that I do like the card.
