A Flourishing Phrases Thank You Card

Today I got out the new "Flourishing Phrases" set and thought I would see what I could do with it.  It's a pretty set but not as easy to work with than I thought it would be.  

I stamped the flower using Calypso Coral and then I stamped another one using Flirty Flamingo.  I cut out that piece.  Then I stamped part of the flower using Daffodil Delight, I only stamped part of it because all I needed was the center.  I cut that piece out too.  I set the center and the next flower layer in place using Dimensionals.

I die cut the leaves using Pear Pizzazz card stock.  And that border was cut using Basic Black card stock.

I stamped the words with the black Memento ink.  And that was it.  This was a quick card to make, even with the fussy cutting.  

There is a little trick I used to glue the die cut pieces.  I saved a strip from my glue dots and scribbled white glue all over it and then set the strip on top.  Then I set it in place on top of the card stock.  I did the same with the leaves.  If you don't use glue dots much, you can let the glue on the strip dry and then remove it so you can reuse the strip or you can use waxed paper.  I use waxed paper because I don't use a lot of glue dots.  

I do like how this card turned out.  Now I need to see what else I can do with this set.  It's kind of expensive when you buy both the stamp set and the dies, even if they are at a bundled price.  So with that in mind, I need to fine something else to do with it!!!

A Papillon Potpourri Designer Tin of Cards and Blooms and Bliss Birthday Card

I have not played with the "Papillon Potpourri" stamp set in a long while.  I LOVE butterflies but there are so many other new sets to play with that I tend to forget about the old ones that I really enjoy.  So today I dug out the stamp set and stamped my butterfly.  I colored it in with a blender pen and Rich Razzleberry.  I used the Rich Razzleberry paper from the "Blooms and Bliss" 12" x 12" decorative paper pack.  I thought the marker would blend better with the paper but it didn't, and it looks even more off in the photo than it does in real life.

The words are from the "Designer Tin of Cards" set.  I masked off the rest of the words on the stamp with a post it note so I could just use the "Happy Birthday".

I don't have any colored Baker's Twine so I just used some white that I had sitting around.  You can substitute ribbon there too.  I didn't have any of that either!!

I rounded the corners with the 1" circle punch.  Just slip the corner of the paper inside the punch and clip it.  I taped the decorative paper in place.  I used Dimensionals on the Whisper White piece and on the butterfly.  And that was it.  Super easy and super quick.  Plus it's got an elegant look to it.

A Thoughtful Banners and Open Panel Technique

Here is another fun card using the "Open Panel" stamping technique.  It's a very easy technique. You can see how to make this fun technique here.  This card was made by shelly and as you can see, it was flipped so the fold is on the long side of the card.  I have not done one with that orientation but I'm going to have to give it a try.  I like how it looks. 

A little note here, you can make those panels as large or as small as you want.  The main concept here is to get the bottom panel positioned so that when you add the focal panel, it equals the size of the back of the card.  Plus this is such a fabulous way to use up those strips of decorative paper that you hang onto and don't know what to do with.  Well, now you do!!!

A Balloon Builder and Wetlands Birthday Open Panel Technique Card

Here is another "Open Panel" Technique card.  This is the one that Terri used to demonstrate how to make them.  I LOVE how she uses the "Falling Snow" embossing folder to create the dots on the balloons.  Then the balloons are punched out and set in place on the stamped strings.  It's a very simple design but SO cute.

I used the words from the "Wetlands" set.  They are my go to words for birthday wishes!

The colors used here are Mint Macaron, Watermelon Wonder and Blushing Bride.

A Balloon Celebration and Wetlands Birthday Card

Last week my friend Katie brought her "Balloon Celebration" set for me to play with.  I stamped the balloons using Mint Macaron and Pool Party.  I used Smoky Slate for the stems. 

The words are from the "Wetlands" set.  They are my most favorite shaped words to use.  It reminds me of the "Sincere Salutations" set.  All of those fit nicely in the oval punch.  I used the retired scalloped oval punch for the layer behind the words.  I'm not sure what I will be using in the future.  I may have to break down and get the new oval dies.  I prefer punches.  They are easier to use.  They are easier to line up, and they are SO much quicker.  Plus they don't waste as much card stock as dies do.  But it is what it is.

I set the word layer in place using Dimensionals and that was it.  Now that I am seeing the image on the screen, it's very blah looking. Especially the background.  I guess I won't be making cards like that anymore!!!  Oh come on, now and then I end up making a blah card.  So we just call it a "simple" looking card and move on. And once again I say, "they all can't be winners!!!"  LOL  I'm in the mood to make something with LOTS of layers.  I will have to see what I can come up with tomorrow.

A Guy Greetings Graduation Card

Today I was still playing with the "Open Panel" Technique. It's so fun and it's a great way to use up the smaller pieces of decorative paper you have laying around.  You can see my first card along with the measurements and instructions here. I made sure the "here" link is working.  I'm notorious for not adding it!!  But I thank my readers for reminding me it isn't working!! Someone has to watch me, I can't watch myself all the time!!! LOL 

For my card I used some scraps from the "Neutrals" Decorative Paper Stack.  Since I was making this card for a female, I was able to use the flowered paper.  The flowered paper used here is Smoky Slate.  I wanted something lighter than the black.  It would have been too dark.  I have no idea what the school colors are, we just got a photo invitation.  It's for a very distance cousin whom I've never met in my life!! So hopefully they won't be concerned with the colors!!

The hat was a framelit die that a friend of mine had brought over.  I used some retired black glitter paper to make it.  I set the hat in place using Dimensionals.  I had cut out several of them for future use.  It's always good to have a few extra cards on hand.

The words are from the "Guy Greetings" set.  I stamped them with black Memento ink.  I did use the new Basic Black ink and after taping the back I turned it over and set it on the layer, I ran my finger across the words to get it to stick better and the ink smeared.  I thought it was dry.  It looked dry and it had plenty of time to dry.  I was very disappointed and got out the Memento ink.  I taped it in place, no Dimensionals.

It was a pretty easy card to make.  I wish Stampin' Up! would come up with some celebration dies like that.  Maybe some shamrocks, Easter eggs, pumpkins, etc.  You get the picture. But I do especially like this graduation cap.

A Timeless Textures and Botanical Builders Birthday Card

Several weeks ago I had made 4 of these cards. Well, I stamped the images, I die cut the "Botanical Builders" flower and flower center.  I added the candy dot to the center.  This was all before the candy dots retired. I put them in an empty case.  One of those thin ones that the clear stamps come in. They were for a road trip project.  I was going to be in the car for a little white and I needed something to work on.  That road trip was cancelled and I forgot about the project.  I ran across it the other day and thought I should put the 4 cards together and be done with them!  Trying to clean up some clutter in my workroom.  

This was a fun card to make. I used Whisper White for the base of my card.  Then a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Marina Mist for the layer.  Before I taped the layer in place I cut out the flower on that very piece of card stock.  No one will ever know!!

I stamped the images on a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White card stock, using Marina Mist ink and the Timeless Textures stamp set.  I used the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" for the words.

I set the flower in place using Dimensionals. And the candy dot in the center.  It was a simple card to make and very fun. I love just stamping images anywhere and have it turn out "fun"!  LOL

A Guy Greetings Masculine Birthday Card Open Panel Technique

Here is another "Open Panel" technique card.  I had some scrap paper sitting around.  This paper is retired, but you can find some fun black dotted paper or other design paper in the Neutrals 12' x 12" paper stack. Or even in some of the other Designer Paper Series packs.  There's lots of fun new papers this year.  Anyway, I was using what I found.

I stamped the hats using Smoky Slate ink. I did not use the Stamp-a-ma-jig to do it, I just eyeballed. it.  It made a fun background paper.  The car was stamped using Basic Black ink and so were the words.

You can find the directions to do this fun "Open Panel" technique here.  It is a very easy technique.  I like how it reveals the inside of the card on the sides.  You can either stamp something in that opening or stamp your wording over the panel so it doesn't show until the card is opened.  There's lots you can do with this fun technique.  You can even flip it like the card from yesterday was.  I like that look too.  You can see that card here.  So give it a try!!

A Bella & Friends Birthday Card Open Panel Technique

Today's card comes to you via Terri's Tuesday Technique night.  It was made by Julie.  I didn't want to buy this set but now I'm thinking about adding it to my wishlist. I still want the cat set below it on page 101 of the 2016-22017 catalog. I LOVE cats but after seeing Julie's card, I may want to get the dog set too.  And it looks like she used the new circles and scallops framelits too.  I LOVE the smaller scallops.  Too darn cute.

The technique used here is the "Open Panel" one. It's super easy to do. An Open Panel Technique Swirly Bird Flourishing Phrases Botanical Builders Thank You Card

This card technique is called "Open Panel".  It's an easy technique to do plus it's fun and different!

I did this technique back in March.  You can see my card here.  There is also a link to the card where I got the idea from.  

It's pretty simple. You cut your card stock base 7-1/2" x 4-1/4" and score it at 5-1/2"  Then you cut your bottom panel. You can cut it any size you wish, just make sure you leave enough for an opening in the middle.  Here the bottom was cut 2" x 4-1/4".  And the focal panel was cut 2-1/4" x 4-1/4" and then a layer was added behind it.  I used Blushing Bride on mine.  

I stamped some words on the inside and a little Sweet Sugarplum flower next to them.  The flowers shows when the card is closed but not the words.  The words are from the "Flourishing Phrases" set. The flower was cut from the "Botanical Builders" framelits and the decorative paper is from the "Blooms and Bliss" Decorative Paper Series.  

My swap cards are ready for tonight!!

Pop-up Technique Flourishing Phrases Just a Note Card

This is a super easy technique. It kind of reminds me of a the backwards Gate Fold.  

For this technique I cut my card stock 8" x 5-1/2". Score at 2" and 3".  Turn the card stock and repeat for the other end.

Cut the decorative paper strips 5-1/4" x 1-3/4".  You will need two this size.  And cut the front panel one 5-1/4" x 2". 

I used the flower from the "Petite Petals" punch and the "Botanical Builders" framelits.  I punched them out using Tempting Turquoise ink.

The words are from the "Flourishing Phrases" set.  I stamped them using Island Indigo ink. 

On the back you can add a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock to write your sentiment on.  It's optional but it does help to have some place to write.

This is quick and fun technique.

A Floral Phrases Wedding Card

This is one of the cards I made Thursday night at Terri's fun Stamp A Stack.  I made all three of mine into wedding cards.  I think it would be pretty as an anniversary card too but I had wedding on my mind.  Which was a good thing because I needed a card on Saturday for a wedding and I didn't have one ready.  

This was a fun card to make.  I LOVE the new "Floral Bouquet" Decorative Series Paper (DSP). It matches the flower in the "Floral Phrases" stamp set.  A set I don't have.  I'm not sure if I'm going to get it or not.  I have so many other fun sets to play with and when I get too many sets I tend to play with some more than others and once in a while some new news I never play with at all.  SO sad.  So I try to limit myself when I can but sometimes it is difficult, especially when there are so many new ones in the catalog that I just HAVE to have!!! You know how that goes!!

The new doily was used for this card too. It's a little smaller than the old ones, which is nice because I thought it was difficult to work the larger ones on some cards.  These promise to be fun.  I just wish they would make them in a bright white and the vanilla looking color.  When you put them with white card stock they look vanilla and when you put them with the vanilla card stock they look a bit too light.  I suppose you could always mist them with a color.  It's a thought.

I do like the looks of this card.  It does look like a wedding card!

A Swirly Bird Birthday Card

I found this fun card by Nadine at "Stempelmami".  I thought it was such a pretty card that I had to make one for myself! 

To make this card I used a folded half sheet of Whisper White.  I cut my Whisper White focal piece 3-1/2" x 4-1/2".  I cut the Sweet Sugarplum layer 3-2/4" x 4-3/4".  I set the focal piece on top of the folded piece and stamped the little flowers using Sweet Sugarplum ink and the rose looking flower was stamped in Daffodil Delight (do that one first). I stamped over the edge as you can see on the right side of the layers.  It's kind of like that "Triple Stamping" technique, but more like double!!

I cut the flowers using Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum and Flirty Flamingo card stock.  The leaves were stamped using Pear Pizzazz ink stamped off once so the veins stamped normally would show better.  Then they were cut with the "Swirly Scribbles" framelits.  I did sponge the edges of the leaves so you couldn't see the white and you can't see that they weren't even on each side!!

The words are from the May 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit.  I was looking in my stamp sets for words that were long like that.  These two words are separate so I put them together on the clear block and stamped them both at the same time.

It was a very fun card to make.  It's so colorful and cheery looking.

A Blossom and Bliss Designer Paper and Mixed Borders Birthday Card

Today's card is from Terri's very fun Stamp a Stack I was at last night.  

This was a very simple and fun card to make.  The stamped image is from the "Mixed Borders" set.  The decorative paper is from the Bloosom and Bliss paper pack.  I want to order both of these!!

The base of the card is a folded half sheet of Whisper White.  Then we added the piece of decorative paper and then a strip of Mint Macron card stock.  

The words were set in place with Dimensionals.  The flowers are from the Blossom Bunch punch.  They were stuck together with glue dots and a pearl in the middle.  As simple as that and SO pretty!!!
