The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock, it opens on the right and the fold is on the left.
I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock for the large layer. I used my blending brush and lightly scrubbed on some Azure Afternoon ink. I also lightly added some Balmy Blue to that piece too. I mostly tapped my brush on the piece to give it that splotchy look. Then I lightly colored over the whole piece to add some more color and it also removed most of the ink from my blending brush (bonus!). I taped this piece to the front of the card base.
The edges of the image from the piece of DSP was cut using the 3rd largest die in the "Branching Out" die set. I also cut a piece of the DSP with the waves on it using that same die. And using the 2nd largest die I cut one out of Basic White card stock and lightly colored the edges with Azure Afternoon ink.
I taped the small DSP piece to the center of the wavy piece of DSP. I also cut two 1/8" x 2-3/4" strips and I taped them to where the center piece of DPS meets the waves on the top and bottom.
The fish were fussy cut and set in place on the piece using Dimensionals.
The words were done on my computer. I had a few of them sitting around from another project and I thought I should use it since it not only fit on the space but I didn't want it to get ruined sitting on my worktable. I set them in place using Dimensionals.
Dimensionals were added to the back of the large die cut layers and it was set in place on the center of the card.
I added some Wink of Stella to the fish to give them a bit of a shine and the card was done.
This was a fun card to make and I was SO glad I was able to use that small piece of DSP from the large sheet of fun images. I am on a mission to make sure I use every one of them on that sheet (thanks to Terri, I'm sure I will!).
This would also make a wonderful Father's Day card too!

Super masculine card! I agree that it would make a great Father's Day card, too.
Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog. It took a little searching to find your blog, but hopefully I found it and this is the right one. You make beautiful things, from jewelry to lovely cards; I can see you are a real busy creative bee. Making your own journal is really fun; it’s enjoyable to do, you do it for yourself (which is nice for a change), and it’s a beautiful memory for later with photos and journals. I use a lot of die sets by Esther Glas, formerly at E.C.D., now at Spellbinders. I also still use a lot of die sets and stamps from E.C.D. And from Tim Holtz, of course. I would say give it a try. You will see that it brings a lot of joy.
I’m going to follow your blog too; it’s always nice for inspiration.
Best regards, Marjolijn.
