The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.
I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Pecan Pie card stock for the largest layer.
The Basic White layer was cut at 3-3/4" x 4-1/2". On this layer the strips were placed. The two Berry Burst ones measure 1-1/4" x 4-1/2" and 3/4" x 4-1/2". The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the "Flora Charm" 12" x 12" package and the strip measures 1" x 4-1/2". I taped the Berry Burst layers first. It's easier to add the end pieces first and the middle one last, this way it makes it easier to keep the center piece looking even on each side.
Once the strips were taped to the Basic White piece, that was then taped to the Pecan Pie piece.
Next came the flowers and leaves. They are from the "Charming Day" bundle. The flowers were cut from Bubble Bath and Berry Burst card stock. The sets of leaves were cut from Pecan Pie card stock.
The words are from "The Right Words" set and were stamped on Basic White card stock using Pecan Pie ink. I cut the piece at 1/2". I trimmed the right end close to the "Y".
The bottom of the word piece is about 1" from the bottom edge of the Pecan Pie layer. I taped the word piece down. I did that so I would know where to add the leaves and flower.
There's a little trick to the flower pieces. I slipped one petal from the Berry Burst piece into the opening of the Bubble Bath flower. Those petals match, it's just that the Berry Burst one is moved to the right a little. I added some glue to hold the two pieces together. I didn't need much, I just added some to the Bubble Bath piece and pressed the two pieces together. Dimensionals were added to the back of the flower. I didn't remove the backing yet.
The leaves were set on the front of the card and I laid the flower on top to see how it looked. Once I liked the way the leaves looked I set the flower aside and taped the leaves down. I added tape to the two bottom leaves because I wanted the other leaves to look like they were floating in the air. Once the leaves were stuck I added the flower. I made sure that I could see the wording.
I thought the flower could use something so I added a little Wink of Stella to it.
Using some enamel dots (retired) that I had I set one on the center of the flower and one on each of the Berry Burst panels. And the card was done.
I like how it turned out but if I were to make another one I think I would texture the Pecan Pie layer and the Berry Burst panels. I just feel like they need a little something more.
Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda
