Choose Happy, Flowering Zinnias, Halloween Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog and Happy Halloween. Today I have a quick Halloween card to share with you. I didn't purchase any Halloween sets this year but there is a pumpkin in the "Choose Happy" set so I worked with it on this card. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Pumpkin Pie card stock. I cut two 4' x 5-1/4" pieces of Basic White card stock. One was taped to the inside and one was taped to the outside.

I cut a 3-1/2" x 4" piece of Peach Pie card stock for the back layer. 

The strips are from the "Flowering Zinnias" 12" x 12" package. I cut them at 1" x 3-3/4".  You will need three of them. I taped them to the Peach Pie piece. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card. I just eyed it so it looked like it was equally spaced all around. 

The pumpkins are from the "Choose Happy" set and were stamped using black Memento ink on a piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock. The face image was also included in that set so you can make jack-o-lanterns or just fall pumpkins. You know how much I love versatility. Since it's a Halloween card I used the face on the pumpkins. I fussy cut them out and added a Dimensional behind each one.

Next I stamped they words. They are from the same "Choose Happy" set. I stamped them using black Memento ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I cut them out using the second smallest die in the "Deckled Circles" set. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the front of the card. 

Once the word piece is in place then the pumpkins were affixed to the front and the card was done.

I'm not a bit fan of fussy cutting but this was pretty easy. It was a fun card to make and it turned out to be a cute Halloween card.

Christmas Labels, Snowy Scenes, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have an easy Christmas card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Real Red card stock for the layer. On top of that is a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Snowy Scenes" 12" x 12" package. I taped it to the Real Red piece and then I taped that to the front of the card.

Next I cut a Real Red strip that measures 2-1/4" x 5". On top of it will be the three Basic White pieces. They measure 1-1/2" x 2".  I used my Blending Brush and Pool Party ink and gave them a bit of color. The white was just too bright. I taped them to the Real Red strip and then I taped that to the front of the card.

I fussy cut the little snow globes from a sheet of DSP from the same package. I'm not big on fussy cutting but this was pretty simple and it was quick to do too. I added Dimensionals to the backs of them and set them in place on top of the rectangles.

The words are from the "Christmas Labels" bundle and were stamped using Real Red ink on a piece of Basic White card stock. I cut them out using the matching die. I also cut a Real Red piece too. I cut the words from the Basic White piece and taped them to the Real Red piece. The word piece needed a colored layer and this was my second thought. My first one was to take my Real Red marker and go around the edges with the belly of the brush end but I didn't think it would be red enough so I thought I'd experiment with the layers and this is what I came up with. I do like it a lot! I think it made that die look a little bit more fancy! I set the word piece in place using Dimensionals and the card was done.

I like the way this card turned out and I thought it was fun using those little snow globes. I had also cut 3 round snow globes out from the piece of DSP that I had. I set them aside for a future card (hopefully). I must have been in the mood to fussy cut!

Snowy Scenes, Greetings of the Season, Joyful Images Ephemera, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have another Christmas card to share with you. I have a feeling that at this rate I will have enough to use for our yearly card plus a few to sell at the next craft fair too! Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. On top of that is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DPS) from the "Snowy Scenes" 12" x 12" package. I taped it to the front of the card.

For the triangle I took a quarter sheet of copier paper and folded it in half. On the short edge I folded it in half but only gave that edge a pinch I didn't need a full fold since I am using it as a template. I cut a piece of Basic White card stock that measured 4-1/4" x 2-3/4".  After finding center on the top shorter edge I took the piece to my paper cutter and cut from that mark to the bottom corner and I repeated that for the other side. 

Using removable tape (if you don't have removable just use a very little bit of regular double sided tape and set the piece on top of a quarter sheet of Real Red card stock. I lined up the bottom edge of the Basic White piece to the Real Red piece so I would only have two sides to cut. I took the piece to my paper cutter and cut the two sides. I repeated this with the Garden Green card stock. Now you can use all the tape you want to hold the Garden Green and Real Red pieces together. I removed the Basic White piece and stamped the "Merry Christmas" from the "Greetings of the Season" using Real Red ink. Then I taped that piece on top of the Real Red piece. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card.

The tree is from the "Joyful Images Ephemera" pack and was set in place on the triangle using Dimensionals.

I added some snowflakes from the "White Loose Snowflakes" container gluing them in place on the front of the card and the card was done.

This was a fun card to make but I'm not really thrilled with it. When I finished it my words were "swing and a miss".  Oh well, they all can't be winners.

Sophisticated Sled, Sentimental Christmas, Joyful Images Ephemera" Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have another Christmas card to share with you. I used the same layout as the one I did yesterday.  I have lots of pieces in the "Joyful Images Ephemera" package so I thought I'd give this layout another try. Please read on to see how it was made. It's pretty much made the same as yesterday's card except with different images.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Snowflake Sky" embossing folder. I glued that to the front of the card.

Next I cut the frame. I used the 3rd and 5th smallest rectangle dies in the "Deckled Rectangles" set. I lined them up, used some removable tape and then ran them through my Big Shot. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set aside.

I cut a 2-3/8" x 3-5/8" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Sentimental Christmas" 12" x 12" package. I removed the protective pieces from the Dimensionals and set the rectangle on top of the piece of DSP. I added glue to the back and centered it on the front of the card.

The tree from the "Joyful Images Ephemera" pack and a branch image were used for today's card. I also used a green strip in the pack for the word piece. I set the tree in place with a couple of small Dimensionals on the back on the right and I added glue where the tree would be touching the frame.

A Dimensional was used for the upper left corner piece. 

The words are from the "Sophisticated Sled" bundle and were stamped using black Memento ink on a 5/8" scrap strip of Basic White card stock. It fit on the green punched out strip nicely. I glued it in place. I chose glue so I could nudge the piece a bit to get it on the green strip more evenly and easier. Then I added a couple of small Dimensionals to the left side and a little bit of glue where it will be touching the frame. 

A few snowflakes were scattered around using glue and the card was done.

Again, this is a fun layout to play with. I can see using it for lots of images die cut or stamped that are about that size. I have my "Sophisticated Sled" sitting out and I may use this layout with the sled and see what I can come up with. I love using that bundle.

Sophisticated Sled, Joyful Images Ephemera, Sentimental Christmas, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a Christmas card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Snowflake Sky" embossing folder. I glued that to the front of the card.

The snowman is from the "Joyful Images Ephemera" package. You get two of them in the package. I had used one on a previous card and I was saving the other one. For what I don't know. Perhaps so the package can retire and I'm sitting here with more things I didn't use. SO taking a hard look at my past behaviors in not using things I decided to go ahead and use it. I added a small Dimensional on the right side of the middle and lower snowballs. I added glue along the backside where it would be touching the frame. I set the snowman in place. I took a branch piece from the package and set it in place with a Dimensional.

The strip the words are on is also from the same package. The words are from the "Sophisticated Sled" bundle. I stamped them on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock using black Memento ink. I laid the word piece on top of the strip and I trimmed it so it was the same width as the strip. My strip was 5/8" before trimming. That strip is a little over a half-inch so there wasn't a lot to trim off. I snipped the ends of the word piece. I slipped the strip under the snowman to see where it needed to be glued down. Once it was glued I added the strip to the front of the card. I used a couple of small Dimensionals on the inner part and I glued the end part down. 

And for the final touch I glued on a bunch of snowflakes from the "White Loose Snowflakes" container. And the card was done. I like how it turned out and I have no regrets using the last snowman in that package. 

This was a fun card to make. I like the layout and I like how quickly it went together.

Season of Green & Gold, Greetings of the Season, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I am going to share with you an easy Christmas card to make. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Very Vanilla card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left. 

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Old Olive card stock for the layer. Then I cut a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Very Vanilla card stock for the top large layer. I textured it using the "Snowflake Sky" embossing folder. I glued this piece to the old Olive piece and then I taped both of those on top of the card base.

I cut a 2-1/4" x 5" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Season of Green & Gold" 12" x 12" package for the strip. 

On top of that strip I cut three pieces of DSP from the same package. They measure 2" x 1-1/2". I taped those to the DSP strip and then I glued that to the front of the card.

Next came the not so fun part (for me). I only purchased the DSP, not the stamp set/bundle that goes with it. I just bought the paper because I thought it was so pretty. I had too many other sets I bought so I had to draw the line somewhere. Anyway, I had to fussy cut my images. There's a sheet with the pines and leaves. I know the bundle has dies that cut these out. It didn't take long to cut them out but I particularly didn't enjoy cutting the pine branches one out. And just before I was ready to put the pieces on top of the card to see where they'd look best I noticed I had cut two of the dark green ones. UGH!  I actually said "UGH"! So I had to cut another one out but this time using the right colored one. 

Then came the words. I found a card on Pinterest that had the word piece on it that I really liked. So I went with that for my card. You can see that card here. Her card is cute too! I sued the "Greetings of the Season" bundle. I stamped the "Merry" using Garden Green ink. I punched it out using the 1-3/4" punch. I made sure the word was on the upper part of the circle. Then taking a 3/4" piece of Very Vanilla card stock I stamped the "Christmas" using Real Red ink.  I snipped the ends about 1/4" from the beginning and end of the word. 

Now I was ready to assemble the rest of the card. I added a little bit of tape to the center of the card. Then I added a little tape to each of the fussy cut images. I added the tape closer to the stem area. I set them in place on the front of the card. I didn't press down on them in case I needed to move them. 

Dimensionals were added to the back of the circle. Then I added three Dimensionals to the front of the circle where the "Christmas" would be going. I set the "Christmas" in place. Then I removed the backing on the circle and I set that in place on top of the greenery. I slid a one of them over a bit before I pressed down on the pieces.

I had some gold "Blooming Pearls" in my stash and I set three of them on my card and the card was done.

This was actually a fun card to make. I love all the layers and I do like how the piece looks.

Sentimental Christmas, Snowy Wonder, Christmas Labels, Snowy Scenes, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a snowman Christmas card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Snowflake Sky" embossing folder. I glued it to the front of the card.

Next I cut my layers. The larger uses Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Sentimental Christmas" 12" x 12" package. It measures 2" x 3-1/2" and the Shaded Spruce layer behind it measures 2-1/4" x 3-3/4". I taped the two layers together and then glued them to the front of the card about 3/8" from the top edge and 3/8" from the fold. 

Then I cut the next layers. I used Basic White for the top layer, it measures 2" x 2-1/2".  I used my Blending Brush and I scrubbed on some Pool Party ink. My ink pad was a bit dry so I had to press harder on the pad with the brush. I didn't brush off on scrap paper first, I went directly to the card stock and I had to press down harder to get any color on the card stock. I would swirl clockwise and then when I changed to counter clockwise more ink came off the brush so I got some fun and interesting patches on the piece. I like what I saw so I kept it. Now if I were to try to recreate that, it may not turn out. I'm hoping I can because it's a fun look. The Shaded Spruce layer behind it measures 2-1/4" x 2-3/4".  I taped the two layers together. Then I glued the layer to the front of the card. There's about 3/8" of the DSP showing on the three edges. 

The snowman is from the "Snowy Scenes" 12" x 12" package. I have the "Snowy Wonder" bundle and there's a die in there that will cut a lot of the snowmen that are printed on one of the sheets of DSP.  How fun is that?  I love it when I can play with layers and texture and use printed images to save a little time. The trees are also from that same sheet the snowman came from.  And there's dies for those too! There was a snowman on the sheet that was missing the upper part of the ear muffs and there was one at the bottom of the sheet that was missing most of it's body so I used the die and cut out both. I cut the head off at the scarf of the bottom one and taped it to the top one and now I have another full snowman. I may add a little snowflake embellishment or even some twine over the area where the scarf line is so it won't look like it was pieces together. But that's for another day. I was just adding that so you don't cut through your half snowmen, there's a way to save them! Anyway, Dimensionals were added to the back of the snowman and it was set in place on the front of the card. Tape was added to the trees and they were added as well.

The words are from the "Snowy Wonder" bundle and were stamped using Pool Party ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I cut them out using the dies from the "Christmas Labels" bundle. I also cut a Shaded Spruce one too. I cut the words out by snipping the piece at the tips. Then I taped that to the Shaded Spruce piece. Dimensionals were added and the piece was set in place on the front of the card.

When I was cutting the other pieces I was cutting out snowflakes at the same time. It saves time plus I can get a bunch of them cut and save some for later. I used three of them on my card. I added a pearl to the center of each one and that was it, the card was done.

This was a fun card to make. I love snowmen and I'm hoping to go out this winter and make one. It's been quite a few year but now that I have a new hip I can resume playing in the snow! I hope to never outgrow that! LOL

Snowy Wonder, Snowy Scenes, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a Christmas card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. I chose Basic White because it's less expensive than colored card stock. You can use a half-sheet of Pool Party card stock and add Basic White to the inside if you wish. 

I took a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Snowflake Sky" embossing folder. I glued it to the Pool Party piece.

Next I took a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Snowy Scenes" 12" x 12" package. I chose the houses because I thought it was one that would be the most difficult in the package to deal with. I needed to challenge myself to use it. I decided to do double corner fold on the DSP. To do this you will need to mark the piece 2-1/2" up from the bottom (on the right edge) to find center.  From there you will need to mark 1-3/4" to the inside of the piece. Now just snip from the edge to the 1-3/4" mark. I like to score my corner pieces before I fold them because I have had trouble getting them straight and even. Scoring them helps to prevent that.  Once the corners were folded back I glued them in place. You can tape them too but I preferred to use glue so I would know they would stay down. Then I glued the piece of DSP to the Basic White textured piece.

The house in the globe is from the same package of DSP. I fussy cut it. The words are from the "Snowy Wonder" bundle and were stamped using Early Espresso ink. I had set mine up in the Stamparatus (retired) and I stamped it twice because the orange on the image didn't like to accept the ink as well as I had hoped it would. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card. I centered it as much as I could by eyeing it.

This was a very fun, quick and easy card to make. I like how it turned out and I was SO glad I could turn my least favorite DSP in the package into a nice looking card. Now I want to use that same DSP to make more of these. Though there's only 6 full house globes in the package.

Sentimental Christmas, Heartfelt Hexagons, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a card to share with you that I found on the internet. You can see the original card here.  Please read on to see how I put this card together.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left. 

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Lost Lagoon card stock and textured it using the "Snowflake Sky" embossing folder. I glued it to the front of the card.

Next I cut a 3-3/8" x 4-1/4" piece of Pretty Peacock card stock for the Designer Series Paper (DSP) strips. Those strips are from the "Sentimental Christmas" 12" x 12" package and were cut at 1" x 4" and 2" x 4".  That makes for a fun layout. I like it a lot more than several strips that are the same size. I just think it's because it's something different. Those strips were taped in place and then the piece was glued on top of the textured piece.

A 1" x 3-3/8" strip was cut for the horizontal piece. I also used glue on that piece because I wanted to be able to move it around a bit to get it as straight as I could. It's about 1-1/2" from the bottom edge of the card.

The words are from the "Heartfelt Hexagons" bundle and were stamped using Pretty Peacock ink. They were cut out using the matching punch.  The piece was set in place on the front of the card. I centered it as much as I could by eyeing it. It's about 1" from the fold and 1" from the right side.

I colored a couple of rhinestones using my dark Pretty Peacock Blends pen to do that. I set them in place on each side of the word piece.

A knotted ribbon was tied from some ribbon I had in my stash. I used a little bit of glue to affix it to the word piece. And that was it, the card was done.

This was a fun, quick and easy card to make and I can see myself using this layout again in the near future.

Christmas Labels, Reindeer Days, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a Christmas card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Garden Green card stock and on top of that is a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Reindeer Days" 12" x 12" package. I could have gotten by with a 2" x 5" piece but I had no idea where I was going with this card. The tree background was pretty busy and I needed to break it up. 

A 5" x 2-1/4" piece of Granny Apple Green card stock was cut for the layer. On top of it was 2" x 1-1/2" piece of DSP from the same package. It's actually the backside of the tree piece. I taped those three rectangles to the Granny Apple Green piece. It's easier if you cut a 2" x 4-1/2" strip and cut the 1-1/2" pieces off of it. Once they squares were cut and taped in place I taped the Granny Apple Piece to the front of the card.

Still not knowing where I was going I took one of the deer from another sheet that I had fussy cut a few days ago (could have been a week or even a month ago but it feels like a few days. You know that feeling!) and I wanted to work it onto the card. I thought if it were on top of or next to some wording it would work. So I stamped the words from the "Christmas Labels" bundle using Real Red ink on a piece of Basic White card stock.  I cut them out using the matching dies from the same bundle. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place about 7/8" up from the bottom and 1/2" from the right edge. 

The reindeer had both Dimensionals and glue. I added Dimensionals were the body parts would touch the card and glue where it would touch the wording.

I colored a few crystal rhinestones using my dark Cherry Cobbler Blends pen and I set them in place on the front of the card. And the card was done.

This was actually a pretty quick and easy card to make and now that I have all the measurements I can see myself using this layout again in the future.

Sentimental Christmas, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a multilayered Christmas card to share with you. Please read on to see how the card was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Real Red card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut two 4" x 5-1/4" pieces of Basic White card stock. I taped one to the inside and one to the outside.

Next I cut the Basic Red layer. It measures 3" x 4". On top of that are strips of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Sentimental Christmas" 12" x 12" package.  These strips measure (from left to right) 1" x 4", 7/8" x 4" and 1/2" x 4".  I taped them in place on the Basic Red layer. I like doing layers like this. Each one of these strips does not have it's own layer, it's on one sheet. It's quicker and easier to set in place on the front of the card. When I have to add layered strips individually I struggle getting them straight and even. This way I get layers but they are much easier to do.

The Basic White center layer was cut using the 3rd smallest die in the "Deckled Rectangle" set. Then I textured it using the "Falling Snow" embossing folder. 

The stocking is from the "Sentimental Christmas" DSP package and was fussy cut. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on top of the textured deckled piece. Dimensionals were added to the back of the deckled piece and it was set in place in the center of the card. And that was it.

I was going to add some wording but I thought it would take away from the sweet stocking in the middle of the card. I also figured that the stocking and colors told you it was a Christmas card. I may stamp something inside but I usually leave it blank.

Spotlight on Nature, Wildly Flowering, Simply Said, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I thought I'd make one more card using the "Wildly Flowering" Designer Series Paper (DSP) from a 12" x 12" package. I have a lot of it left but thought I'd try one more before moving on to holiday cards. I found this card here. It's part of a pop up type card. I just like how the front looked so I went with that. Please read on to see how I made this card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left. I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of DSP from the "Wildly Flowering" package and taped it to the front of the card.

Next I cut my circles. I used the "Spotlight on Nature" bundle for this. I cut a Basic White one using the largest circle die in that set. Then I cut the DSP using the next size down. I taped the two circles together and set them in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals. They are about 1/2" up from the bottom and just shy of 1/4" on each side. Actually the right side of my circle is at 1/4" from the edge and the other side is 7/16". I had just eyed mine and got it close enough. Many times I don't bother to measure. If it looks right to my eyes it will look right to someone else too!

The "hello" was stamped next. It's from the "Simply Said" set and was stamped using Early Espresso ink. I cut it out using another die from the same "Spotlight on Nature" bundle. It was the second smallest die on the same side as the other two dies came from. There's 12 dies in this set and they are on two separate cardboards.  I added Dimensionals to the upper part and one towards the side of the word piece and tape to the left side where it would be touching the larger circles.

I had some retired embellishments and I added three of them to the card. Mine are from the "Candy Dots" package. The are very old and it's time to use up these things. If you're a demonstrator you can use what is current. I don't have many that are current because I need to use up what I have!  Once the embellishments were on the card was done.

This is a very quick and simple card to make. I can see myself using this layout for future cards,

Spotlight on Nature, Sketched Butterflies, Labeled with Love, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have another card using the "Wildly Flowering" 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (DSP). I thought the layout was fun to play with and would work for lots of DSP that I have in my stash. Please read on to see how today's card was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 3-1/2" x 4" piece of Basic White for the layer.

Then the DSP strips were cut at 1" x 3-3/4".  I kept them in order as I cut them so I didn't have to play "let's put the puzzle pieces back together!".  I often have to do that when I cut a bunch at one time.  I taped these strips to the Basic White layer. Dimensionals were added to the back and they were set in place on the front of the card. I centered it and lined it up so there was equal spacing on the top and bottom and then the sides. 

Next I stamped the words from the "Labeled with Love" bundle using black Memento ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I cut them using a die from the "Spotlight on Nature" bundle. Dimensionals were added to the back. I set this piece in place in the upper left corner of the striped layer.

I took some ribbon (retired) I had in my stash, tied a bow and glued it in place on the circle.

The butterflies are from the "Sketched Butterflies" bundle and were cut from a piece of Basic White card stock. I added small Dimensionals to the large butterflies and a piece of a Dimensional to the smaller center butterfly. I set them in place on the front of the card.

I found some rhinestones in my drawer and I affixed them to the butterflies. And that was it, the card was done.

I do like how it turned out and I'm looking forward to making other cards using this layout. I can see using leaves or snowflakes or even a character in that space where the butterflies are, along with complimenting DSP. Can you see that?

Nest of Winter, Sophisticated Sled, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a Christmas card to share with you using the "Nest of Winter" Designer Series Paper (DSP).  Please read on to see how it was made.

Does the layout look familiar? I used the same as I did on yesterday's card. I chose this layout because of the orientation of the wood look piece of DSP on the background. I was gifted a few pieces of this DSP and I thought I should play with it before it retires. I get these gifted packets now and then and sometimes I just set them aside and forget about them and then they retire. They come in the mail after I've sent an order to Terri. She's a very talented and generous person.  Please read on to see how the card was made.

I took a folded half-sheet of Pebbled Path card stock for the base of the card. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left. I wasn't sure if I was going to go with Pebbled Path or Smoky Slate, either one of them is not a traditional Christmas color. But it's an outdoorsy bird card so it had to go with the colors in the DSP.

Snowflakes from the "Sophisticated Sled" were stamped all around the edges of the card front using Pebbled Path ink. Once that was stamped I worked on the layers.

I cut a 4-1/4" x 3-1/4" piece of Pool Party card stock. A 4-1/8" x 3-1/8" piece of Smoky Slate card stock and a 4" x 3" piece of DSP from the "Nest of Winter" package.  I also cut a 1" x 3" piece of DSP in the Pool Party color. I thought this piece was SO pretty. It is little circles of falling snow. Makes me want to purchase a package of this DSP! I taped this strip to the 3" x 4" piece of DSP and then that was taped to the Smoky Slate piece.

Using my last bit of linen thread I added some tape to the backside and taped on two pieces of the thread. I didn't have enough to go around the card twice so I cut the piece I had in half and taped each end to the back. Then I added tape to the entire back and set it in place on top of the Pool Party card stock piece. Then tape was added to the back of that and it was set in place on the front of the card.

The birds from another piece of the same DSP were fussy cut. Dimensionals were added to the back and they were set aside.

The words are from the "Sophisticated Sled" bundle and were stamped using Pebbled Path ink. They were cut using the die from the "Stylish Shapes" set. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place over the linen threads.

Now it was time to add the birds. I lined up the right branch end with the edge of the DSP and then set them in place on the front of the card.

I colored three little pearls using my dark Cherry Cobbler Blends pen and set them in place on the Pool Party colored DSP.  A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of DSP was added to the inside and the card was done.

This was a fun card to make. I didn't care much for the fussy cutting but once the card was done I was glad I did it! And as far as the Pebbled Path colors, I do like how it looks.
