The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock. I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock and textured it using the new "Winter Snow" snowflake embossing folder. You will want to stamp the words before you texture the piece. I didn't but I did set up the piece in the Stamparatus so I could stamp more than once to get a nice solid print. Stamping first is less work. I used Balmy Blue ink to stamp the words from the "Itty Bitty Christmas" words set. The "Winter Snow" folder has such soft and subtle snowflakes on it. My new favorite snowflake folder. I also embossed a 4-1/4" x 1-1/2" piece of Whisper White card stock for the layer.
A 4" x 1-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) was cut from the "Snowflake Splendor" 12" x 12" pack. You won't use up much DSP making this card but on the other hand you might be able to make all of your Christmas cards with the two matching 12" x 12" sheets in the package! You can make 27 strips from one 12" x 12" sheet!!! Hmmm, maybe this will be one of our Christmas cards this year. I'm making three different ones this year. I started early and am hoping to have them all done by the end of September or mid October. I just want to be ahead of the game this year. I have been mostly on time with birthday cards this year, mostly!! Okay, back to the card. I taped the DSP to the Whisper White strip. Then the piece was taped to the 4" x 5-1/4" embossed piece.
I took a circle die and one that was the next one larger and die cut them. I die cut the smallest one first and then the larger one was lined up, taped down and then cut. I used the 1-5/8" and 1-7/8" circle dies. If you use this layout and are using a larger image to attach to the circle, you may want to use larger circles. You'll have to play around with it to see what looks best. I found that these two worked best with the small snowflake I die cut from the "Christmas Layers" dies.
I cut a thin strip from my sheet of Dimensionals and then I cut them into small strips about 1/4" long and stuck them to the back of the circle ring. I set the ring in place over part of the DSP strip.
The snowflake was die cut from some Balmy Blue Glimmer paper. I set it in place on the ring using some Tombow glue. I tried to only get the glue on the center of the snowflake. I knew some glue would show but it didn't matter because I was going to be adding a rhinestone or pearl there. I found that the rhinestone was prettier. I colored it using the dark Balmy Blue Blends pen and I stuck it in place (it already had the sticky on the back of it, but if it hadn't I would have used a small glue dot. And that completed the card.
I REALLY like how the card turned out and I am REALLY liking this layout. I have a few more ideas for it that I'm going to have to try.
