The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top. This is a layout I've used a couple of times already. I like this layout and it's great for smaller images.
I cut a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Traditions of Christmas" 12" x 12" package. On top of that is a 4-12" x 3-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock.
The next piece of DSP is from the same package and was cut at 4-1/4" x 3". Using the second rectangle die in the "Nested Essentials" set I cut out the opening on the left side. Then I taped it to the front of the card so the opening exposed the Basic White layer behind it.
Using the second and third rectangle dies in the same set, I cut out two frames using Real Red card stock. I glued the frames together and set them under my mat to keep them flat.
The candy cane is from the "Christmas Tags" 6" x 6" stack that also has die cut pieces in it. This is one of them. I popped it out and added Dimensionals to the back. I didn't remove the backing yet, I needed to see what that area needed. I decided I'd take my blending brush and scrub on some Granny Apple Green ink to brighten it up a bit. Once I was done with that I removed the backing from the Dimensionals and set the piece in place at an angle.
Next I took the Real Red double frame and glued it to the front, fitting it in the opening.
The words are from the "Greetings for You", Mix and Match Ephemera pack. I was gifted a sheet of words and have been playing with them but couldn't find where they came from. Today I ran across a card that used them and it had a link and that link lead me to the package. YAY! It's a fun package and I am going to order one soon. These are stickers. I didn't remove the backing and I just added a couple of Dimensionals. Normally I would have removed the backing and used corn starch to stop it from sticking but the backing on the word piece was on there pretty good so I just left it.
Now for the messy part. I didn't purchase the glittered embellishments because my order was pretty big as it was. So I got out my gold glitter and clear nail polish and I covered the embellishments I had with both. I let it set for a bit to dry. If you are going to give this a try, do it first so you don't have to wait around for it to set up. I set them in place on the front of the card and the card was done.
This was a quick, fun and easy card to make. I hope it inspires you.
Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's Christmas card,
Wanda
