Moon Baby, Magic Reveal Spinner Card Technique, Baby Card

I found this fun technique in my email last week.  It's Split Coast Stamper's latest technique.  I signed up a long time ago and each week I get the new technique in my email!!  This one looked like a lot of fun.  I read through the instructions but I found easier to follow the video.  I had found a couple discrepancies with the written part. Enough to make the card harder to do.  So I first watched the video and then I followed along.  You can see that video here.

I made two cards, the top one was the first one I made and followed the written instructions.  The brad where the ribbon goes was over way more than the video suggested it go.  The video seemed more accurate.

It's not that bad to make either.  A circle and square for the images.  A circle opening, a scalloped edge layer and a small circle for the back that was a buffer for the center brad.

On both cards I did fold the ribbon in half and inserted the brad. But playing with it caused the ribbon to pull through, so follow the instructions about using a lighter to melt the edges to keep them from fraying.  I ended up cutting the ribbon on the bottom one. I did melt the one end but the end that is on top of the cardstock was glued. I stuck a piece of the waxy paper that the glue dots are stuck to under the ribbon so it wouldn't get glued to the circle.

The top one was my first one.  I wrapped a single layer of lacy ribbon around the card on the left and I made a bow and used glue dots to hold it in place.  On the second one I wrapped the lacy ribbon around the card front 3 times and taped the ends on the backside.  Then I cut a small piece and tied a knot.  Then I used Dimensionals on that whole panel.

The video instructions were very helpful.  The only problem I had was were to put that glue dot to stop the circle from spinning all the way around.  Just keep in mind that it goes close to the left edge and a hair below the top circle.  The glue dot is suppose to stick to the card front panel and if it worked out right, it will stop the top layer from spinning all the way around.

I thought it was a fun technique.  I often wonder if people know what to do with these types of cards once they receive them!!!  I don't like to have to write instructions on how to open the card!!!

Sliding Star and Shooting Star Bee Spinner Friendship Card

Here is another card I had made for Terri's fabulous Stamping Extravaganza.  I had the privilege of demoing for her there.  These spinner cards are super easy and fun to make.

I used the curved bar for the spinner on this card. Though I do prefer the full circle one, it gets a better spin and seems to be more fun.

Here I used the Bee images.  I LOVE it that I didn't have to fussy cut each one of those little bees.  If I had there would only be 3 on the card.  After that I'm bored or my hands are tired.  But with that little bee die I could cut them out all day long!!!

I also used the "Wink of Stella" on the bees wings.  It gave them that pretty sparkle and made the wings stand out more.

For my background I used the "Softly Falling" embossing folder. I thought the background could use a little bit of texture and since the hexagon folder was retired, this was the best I could do. I do like how it looks on here.

You can find some tips here.  It's from the full circle one but most of the steps can be used for this curved bar slider too. There's some common mistakes that are made when making these and the tips on that link will help you avoid the.

These are fun and super easy to make. Kids love to play with them too.  Okay, I love to play with them myself!!! It's fun to watch them spin.  I always test my cards to make sure they spin. I give them at least 50 spins!!!  Only because I'm having fun watching the image on the pennies spin around!

A Swirly Bird Sliding Star Congratulations Card

Today I'm going to share with you yet another spinner card. I can't emphasize enough how quick and simple these are to make.  I LOVE the "Swirly Bird" set for the images and the words and the "Sliding Star" Framelits for the template for the spinner.

For this card I stamped the moon image all over the Soft Sky card stock using Soft Sky ink.  Then I stamped the earth and colored it in. I punched it out with a circle punch and taped it in place, flat on the center circle.  I added some bling after assembling it.

I have some helpful tips in making these cards, you can find them here.

Like I said, these are super easy to make and fun to play with. Once you complete one, you test it to make sure it spins. If you didn't get the foam tape too close on the back side it should spin fine.  Then you will spend a few minutes spinning it because it's not only fun but addictive!!!  LOL

I highly recommend this bundle!!

A Sliding Star Shooting Star Congratulations Spinner Card

I had such a fun time playing with the spinner cards.  The "Sliding Star" set is SO much fun. There's lots of fun images to play with.

Here I used the shooting star. I stamped the other two smaller stars in the set using Versa Mark and I embossed them in gold.

Then I used the arched die to make the spinner opening.  I added the foam tape to the back and then I made my penny sandwich.  You can use washers but pennies are cheaper.

I added the star using a Dimensional and slipped the pennies in place and it was ready to roll!

The earth image was also in the set.  I just stamped it and colored it in.  I wanted to set it in place with a Dimensional but I couldn't because it would sit up too high and the spinning image would get caught on it, so I had to tape it on flat.  But I did set the words in place with Dimensionals.

You can find some fun tips to make these cards here.  Having the Framelits for the spinner openings makes it SO much easier to create some very fun spinner cards!!

A Swirly Bird and Snow Place Christmas Card

I promise I won't do another Christmas in July card!  I'm not a big fan of Christmas in July.  I'm not in the Christmas spirit this time of year. I like to go to the stores when the Christmas music is playing and the store is all aglow with Christmas items and smells too! So with that said, I will hold off for a few months before I make any more Christmas cards.

I had the "Swirly Bird" bundle for a few days making card and this card came to mind.  SO I cut out the front panel and set it aside for a day that I had time to play with it and see if what was in my head would come out well on paper.  It did, I like how it ended up/.

I used the "Snow Place" set and matching die for the snowman, hat and holly.  I especially loved the holly.  It was fun to just stamp it and use the die to cut it out.  Fussy cutting is something I'm not all that fond of and especially on small tiny pieces.

First I stamped the snowflakes using the white craft ink.  I set it aside to give it time to dry.  Next I punched out a 2-1/2" circle of Whisper White and tore it for the snow. Then I stamped the snowman, arms, hat and holly.  I took a red Sharpie and colored the rhinestones in and set them aside to dry while I hunted down my glue dots.  I used those to put the holly in place on the hat and the word panel.  The words are from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.  I was going to use some wording from the "Snow Place" set but I forgot and I knew I couldn't stamp it once I got the card front on the card base. I've tried that before, it just doesn't work!  I like the words from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.  I punched the words close to the edge so I had an open space on the left to add the holly.  The words are set in place using Dimensionals.

Click here for some information on how to assemble the spinner cards.  There's some tips there that will help you too.  I think they are fun and very easy to make.  I might just have to break down and buy the bundle!!!
