A Painted Petals and Butterfly Thinlit Mother's Day Card

You will never guess where I saw this card!!!  If you said Pinterest, you are right!  I seem to spend a lot of time there. Though I am not always looking at cards, I'm looking at gardening, beading, and decorating stuff too!!!  But mostly cards!!! LOL

This card was made by Deb at Stampladee.  Her card was a thank you card but I thought I would make a Mother's Day card.

I didn't add the Strawberry Slush thick baker's twine to the butterfly because I don't have any more twine at all.  I thought I had some but I either misplaced it or ran out.  I will be ordering some soon.

The set used here is the Painted Petals set.  The flowers were stamped using Strawberry Slush and the leaves were done using Pistachio Pudding.  I also stamped the word with the Pistachio Pudding.  The words are from the All Holidays retired set.  I don't often get rid of my word sets.  

I didn't add the gold dots but I think I will be doing that after I get done with this post.  The card looks okay in person but looking at it on the screen here it does need that punch of gold.

I used the new Butterflies thinlit die.  I LOVE it.  Easy way to use the intricate dies is to put a piece of waxed paper down on your cutting plate (waxed side down), then the card stock, then another piece of waxed paper (waxed side up) and then the die.  Run it through your Big Shot and tape the cut pieces off if any are still attached.  SO quick and SO easy.  That method has made me LOVE the intricate dies again!!!

I also added some shimmer mist to the butterfly but it didn't show up in the photo.  But that's okay, you get the idea.  

This was a super fun and easy card to make.  I think I make a few more of these since they were so quick and easy.  This would make a wonderful birthday card, thinking of you card, thank you card, and a get well card too!!!  Such a fun card!

Ornamental Pine Gate Fold Latch Card

Today I am going to share with you a card that Terri had for her latest Technique Tuesday.  This technique is called the "Gate Fold Latch".  I have never made one before.  And much to my surprise, they are not as difficult as I thought they would be.  Plus they are a really cool looking card too!!!

To make this card you score a piece of 4-1/4" x 11" card stock just 2-3/4" from each end and fold towards the center. 

She used the ovals and scalloped oval to make this card.  You take the scalloped oval and the the oval that is just a bit smaller and tun it through your Big Shot.  Then take the 2nd largest Framelit and run it through the Big SHot to create a matte for your stamped image.  

Next take the 3rd from the largest oval and cut out your card stock to stamp your image on.  

With the card closed, adhere the Scallop frame to just the top half of the card on the top flap.  Adhere the stamped image to the matte and then adhere the matte just to the bottom of the card only.  

The bottom matte slides over the stamped image and when the card is closed it looks like a large frame around the image.  I am going to be showing my sister how to make this and I'll let you know how it goes.

Buttons & Blossoms Simply Pressed Molds

I've been playing a lot with the Blossoms part of the "Buttons & Blossoms" molds.  I am having more fun with the blossoms because I can take them out of the mold right away and set them aside to dry.  With the buttons I tend to leave them dry in the mold so they don't distort.  I have not had a lot of luck removing the larger button without some distortion of some kind.  I make a few buttons when I make the flowers but the flowers pile up faster than the buttons because of the ease of removal.  I'm looking at this photo and noticing that I need more yellow flowers and I need white ones.  I had quite a few white ones but used a lot of them on cards.  Hmmm, I guess white is the favorable color!!  It does go with almost everything!  And when you make the white ones you can color them in with markers too.  Yup, I tried that and I did like doing that.  I colored one using Pink Pirouette and then used a darker pink to highlight the tips of the petals and the center of the flower.  It turned out pretty and I forgot to take a picture of it before I used it!  Silly me!

These molds are very fun to play with and I hope that Stampin' Up! comes out with more.  

I'm off to make more flowers.  I mixed up a bunch of colors the other night and used up my package of clay!!!  Now I am making flowers and buttons with the mixed clay so I have some on hand when I need them!  

To aid in the drying process I took some tulle and taped it to a plastic container so the air could flow through.  I set the flowers on the tulle to dry and they don't take half as long to dry and best part, I don't have to turn them over.

So if you have these fun molds go make some flowers and buttons for your card projects.  Just remember to use gloves when mixing the inker to the clay.  It's messy but once you get the ink mixed in you can use your bare hands to work with the clay and get it in the molds.  Weird, huh?  I don't make the rules!!! LOL
