Quarter Fold Technique Page Card

Today I have a fun technique card for you.  It's a super simple one too!  This was done at Terri's super fun technique night she has for her downline.  It's called Quarter Fold Card.

You take a piece of card stock cut 4-1/4" x 11" and score it at 2-3/4" and 8-1/4".  Then you take the second piece of card stock that is cut 5-1/2" x 8-1/2".  Score that one at 2-1/8" and 6-3/8".  Adhere the two pieces together forming a cross.  The longer piece of card stock goes on the back.  Fold the flaps in as you would doing a flap over flap on a cardboard box.
Decorate the card stock as desired.    Here a belly band was made to help hold the card shut. Score the fold lines sharply and you can get by without the belly band.  Though the belly band does add some more fun to the card.  You can add words as shown here or you can tack on flowers, or even both!  It's a fun card and there's lots of ways to decorate it.

A Timeless Talk Father's Day Card Masculine Card

Today I thought I would play with some papers.  I bought the Adventures Bound paper stack but I have hardly used any from it. So I took it out and found this fun brick wall paper and I also found the lightly striped paper that (in real life) compliments the brick nicely!!!  I'm sure you have noticed by now that I am not a great photographer!!! But I try!

I used the Timeless Talk set for this masculine card.  I wasn't sure what I was going to use. I just knew I wanted to use the brick wall paper.  And once I put that first strip on my card stock I knew I needed to make a masculine card.  I didn't need a masculine card so I thought I would just make a Father's Day card because I knew I could sell it pretty fast in a couple of months!

I stamped the bike using the black Memento ink.  The words were done on my computer. The bike and the words are set in place using Dimensionals.  All in all it was a pretty quick and easy card to make!

A Flower Patch Mother's Day Card

Today I found a fun card at Mikaela's The Crafty oINK Pen.  There's a few minor changes but for the most part it looks like her card.  Nothing I can take credit for!!!

I used the Flower Patch set and the matching die.  I don't know why I don't use this set more, I love it when I don't have to fussy cut things out.  Perhaps this set was put on the back burner because it was winter????  That would play a bit roll in the set has not been used lately!

The fun colors here are Daffodil Delight, Pear Pazzzz, Lost Lagoon, and Coastal Cabana.  I added some little pearls to the flowers.

My change here was the wording.  I made mine into a Mother's Day card.

The base of the card is Coastal Cabana. The card was cut 4-1/4" on the short side and folded in half.  Then I cut the front off.  I cut it in half.

This card went together very fast.  I think it would also be a wonderful thinking of you, thank you, get well, and as Mikaela made it, a birthday card.

Thank you SO much for visiting today,

Envelope Punch Board Calculator

What, you are asking?  Yup, I found a wonderful calculator that allows you to enter in the size of the envelope you want and it will calculate the size paper and the size score lines.  All you do is enter in the size of your card.  It calculates the rest!  I LOVE it and I thought I would share that find with you.  I will also be putting this info on my sidebar (on the right) so you will know where to find it instead of having to scroll down through lots of posts.

I found it at Carole's "I'm just Lovin' it" blog.  You can see the calculator by clicking here.

Now I wish I could find one for boxes!!!  I have such trouble making boxes for my cards using the punch board.

Have fun with this!

A Mother's Love Mother's Day Card

I found a fun card at Ann Marie's Stamping Adventures.  I did change the colors and the wording.  I wanted to make a Mother's Day card.  Now looking at the photo you may say I didn't plan the words with the flowers (again).  But in real life, the word does show, it was the angle of the camera that made it look off this time.  It wasn't me!!  Really!!!  LOL

My colors here are Strawberry Slush.  I chose that color for a couple of reasons.  One because I wanted something bright and springy looking and two because that color is retiring soon.  The flowers are from the Beautiful Bunch set.  I stamped them using Daffodil Delight too, to get the centers yellow.  Those centers were punched out and set in place using Dimensionals.  The left flower was taped in place and the right flower was set in place using Dimensionals.

The leaves were made using the Work of Art set and Pear Pizzazz ink.

This was a super easy, quick, and fun card to make!

Big Day Bokeh Technique Birthday Card

I've been having some fun with this Big Day stamp set.  I thought it would be fun to combine it with the Bokeh Technique. You can find a tutorial on ow to make the background here at Split Coast Stampers.  When I did mine, I sponged in the colors instead of wetting my paper.  I didn't want to mess around with wet paper and I didn't want warped paper.  And, the technique worked out just fine!

I used the Big Day set for the cake.  The words came from the Hey You set.  I added some sequins for texture and more depth.

I colored the cake using a blender pen and Coastal Cabana and Lost Lagoon ink.  The words were stamped using black Memento ink.

The base of the card is Lost Lagoon, then a layer of Basic Black and the Whisper White with the Bokeh Technique on top.  This is a fun technique. I did use my heat tool to help the white ink to dry faster.  And on a few of the circles I reinked them because I wanted them VERY white.

Look up this technique on the net.  It originated in the photography field and has crossed over to the stamping field!  Have fun with this technique.

A Petite Petals Mother's Day Card

In my quest to get a bunch of Mother's Day cards ready for the spring garage sale, I ran across one on Pinterest that used the Petite Petals along the left side of the card and the card was orientated to open from the right, with the fold on the left.  Here the fold is on the top.  There was no link to the card and if you were to compare them, they would not look alike at all.  I used decorative paper on my card, and I added word on top of the decorative paper.

The decorative paper used here is Sweet Taffy.  I used Tempting Turquoise ink for my color.  And the words were done on my computer.

This was a very simple card to make.  I had a template made a while back for the three holes so all I had to do was take it out and trace the circles.

I used the Petite Petals for the flowers and the matching punch!!! That helps to make the card quicker to do. I set the flowers and the words in place using Dimensionals.  I think I might make a few more of these cards in different colors.  I have some more of that decorative paper left and I should use it up. It will be retiring in a few months.

A Big Day Birthday

I found this fun card on Pinterest and I had deleted it.  It originally came from Stampin' Connections so I was not able to access it at all.  I did change the color of the card stock and the decorative paper.  I do not know who is the original designer of this card, so if you know, please let me know so I can give them credit and a link back to their blog.

For my card stock I used Whisper White and Tempting Turquoise.  The decorative paper is from the Sweet Taffy pack.

I used a paper doily on top of the decorative paper.  A circle of Tempting Turquoise was cut out using the Framelits circle dies.  The words were stamped and then cut out with the next size smaller circle die.

The bottom words were stamped and then punched out using the large oval punch.  Then a scalloped oval was punched out using the scalloped oval punch.  That piece was set in place using Dimensionals.  And that was it.  Super simple and very quick to make.  Oh, that wasn't it.  I colored the words in using a marker and blender pen.  There, now that's it!!!

A Love and Sympathy Birthday Card

I LOVE the flower image in the Love & Sympathy set.  It can be used for several other occasions than just sympathy.  Today I'm using it for a birthday card.  I am still in the process of going through the little piles of papers in my workroom and I ran across this image already stamped.  So I trimmed it up and added the Basic Black layer.  It doesn't really show up well here, but the image was done on Very Vanilla.

The leaves were done using Wild Wasabi and the flower was colored in using Calypso Coral.

The words were done on my computer a while back.  I printed a sheet of them, punched them out and put them in an envelope for when I needed them.  That makes putting cards together so much quicker.

It's fun to run across finds like this and finally use the piece.  Then I sit and wonder why I didn't use it when I had made it.  The answer to that question will remain a mystery.

A Cheerful Critters Free Standing Pop-Up Card Technique Card

Last night at Terri's Technique night, the gals made a Free Standing Pop-Up card.  You can find the instructions for it here at Split Coast Stampers.

This is a very fun card to make.  Oh and it's easy too!!!

The set used here is Cheerful Critters.  It's in the Spring Catalog.

On this card we also did the masking technique.  We covered the top 2/3 of the white card stock and than stamped the bottom (with the post it covering the white).  Then the bottom was sponged (with the post it still on the white).  Then the post it was removed and the bunny was stamped on.

A ribbon and flowers were added for some extra embellishments.  The gals had a great time making this card.  It's fun to have something unique now and then, isn't it?

I Like You Birthday Card

I don't remember what set this image is from but you can substitute it for the "I Like You" set and have the same fun flower effect.  I had found this hidden in a stack of scrap papers.  It was already colored.  Well, you can't just toss it out now can you?

I needed a card for my hubby's aunt's 81st birthday.  I didn't want to make a totally green card, even though it's a St. Patrick's Day birthday.  I did that last year so this year I thought I would just make something with a little bit of green in it.  When I found this image already done I figured that was enough green after adding some matching Pear Pizzazz card stock.

The words are from my computer, which made making this card even faster yet!!!

Now hubby can go visit her tonight after dinner and bring her a flowery card!

A Mother's Love and I Like You Mother's Day Card

What's wrong with this picture?  I worked SO hard on the coloring with a blender pen and the fussy cutting.  I am so spoiled by the punches that when it comes to cutting anything out I just cringe.  Well, I cringed, colored, and cut.  I assembled the card and then I looked at it.  Nothing like NOT paying attention.  The "nobody" is covered up by the flower.  UGH!  How could I have not seen that?????  Gosh, and lucky you, I am sharing it with you!!!

I used the I Like You Hostess set for the flowers.  I colored them in with the blender pen using Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, and Pumpkin Pie ink.  I stamped the two larger flower sets twice and colored them.  I cut them out and glued them in place.  Yes, I said glue.  They are there to stay!!

I used the oval punch for the opening.  And the words in the opening are from the Mother's Love set.

I saw a card made by Paula at Stampinantics and I thought it was so pretty.  I liked it enough to try to make one.  Though the card there has different words in the center and the flowers do NOT cover it!!! LOL

Sorry this card is a flop but you are creative enough to see beyond that and you can make one yourself and make it even better!!!

A Lotus Blossom Birthday Card

I thought I would give the Lotus Blossom set another go since it was still sitting out on my worktable.  Plus I did need another birthday card.  Hubby's aunt is having a birthday next week and my younger sister's is the following week.  It's SO great to be ahead of the game.  I even have her birthday present!  Well, most of it.  I want to make her a ring.  I got my table set up and I'm ready to solder!!!  I'll show it to you when I finish it.

Okay, back to the card.  My colors here are  Strawberry Slush and Old Olive.  I used some Strawberry Slush decorative paper. It was great to be able to use a scrap piece that I normally would have tossed away.  The stem of the flower and the round layer in the word piece are comprised of Old Olive.

The words were done on my computer, and I think that about covers it.  Oh and the Dotted background embossing folder.  It was a very quick and simple card to make. I will put the set away now and make something different for tomorrow!!!

A Lotus Blossom Birthday Card

I just had to play with this Lotus Blossom set today.  It is retiring at the end of the month and I think it's such a pretty set.  I will probably keep the set for a while longer after it retires. I do love it so.  I hope there's something in the new catalog that is comparable.

My colors here are Melon Mambo for the layered card stock and for the ink on the flower.  The stem is Old Olive and the words were done using the Memento black ink pad.

This is a very quick and simple card to make.  It's one of those sets you can grab to make a card in under 10 minutes.  That includes getting the stamps and ink out, the paper cut, stamping, and assembling!!!  Ya gotta LOVE quick cards like that.

A Big Day Birthday Tag

I found some fun birthday tags at Amy's Paper Crafts.  I thought it would be fun to make one for my sister's birthday gift bag.  Not instead of a card but just to have a fun and colorful tag on the bag.

I used Pumpkin Pie for my colors here.  Mostly because I had some Pumpkin Pie ribbon and thought I would use it.  The gift bag is white, so it didn't matter what color I used.

I used the "Big Day" Sale a Bration set.  It's a fun set that I had only used the one image from.  And today I used 3 more!!!  I'm on a roll!! LOL

I liked the tag that Amy had made and I just had to make one.  I LOVE this tag punch and I think I'm going to be making a lot of my own Christmas tags this year.  If I plan the paper right (2" wide) I can print out the "to and from " on the computer and just cut, punch and stamp away!!!  I should be able to get about 8 tags from one sheet of card stock.  Not bad at all!!  I'll work on that and if I get it right I may post it so you can download it and make your own Christmas tags too!  That's a big if right now, I've got a million things going on and time is eluding me!!!

Anyway, back to this fun tag.  I set the cake circle in place with Dimensionals.  I love it too, that you can add more than one candle on the cake.  I may even make a tag for my granddaughter's 2nd birthday!!!

I used a strip of Pumpkin Pie decorative paper at the bottom.  Another reason to save those tiny scraps.  But no, my piece isn't from a scrap.  I don't often save them that small.

This was a very fun and quick tag to make!!  I can't wait to see what new Christmas stamps Stampin' Up! comes out with that would fit in a 2" circle so I can make tags.  Though I do have a lot of retired ones that I could use too, but new is always more fun!

Mother's Love Card

I had no idea what category to put this card in.  I'm sure it can be used for birthdays, get well, thank you, thinking of you, and Mother's Day.

I made this card at Terri's wonderful Stamp a Stack.

The base of the card is Sahara Sand. The decorative paper is from teh Something Borrowed paper pack.

The image from the Mother's Love set was stamped on Whisper White card stock.

And lastly the 5/8" white organza ribbon was tied around it.

This was a super fun card to make. I LOVE this layout and I also love the decorative paper.

A Painted Petals Mother's Day Card

Today I was going to play with a layout that I really liked but had to scrap it because the image was too big.  So I changed it up a bit and came up with my own look!  Which is what I should be doing in the first place but lately I think I've lost my Mojo!  But I guess I still have it.  What a shocker!!! LOL

I used the Painted Petals set to make this card.  I used Pear Pizzazz and Strawberry Slush for my colors.

The decorative paper was from the Sweet Taffy designer paper pack.

The words are from my computer.  I have been asked about these words and you can purchase them here if you'd like.  You can print out as many as you want and use them on cards you make to give or make to sell. They fit in the 1=1/4" circle punch and some of them even fit in the oval punch!  You can get more details on it here.

A Love and Sympathy Masculine Sympathy Card

I had bought the "Adventure Bound" paper pack and have hardly used it.  So I thought I would make a sympathy card using this forest image.  I thought the image was very pretty and a masculine sympathy card came to mind.  I suppose a masculine birthday card or Father's Day card could me made with it too, but for me, sympathy came to mind.

Using these papers as your background make card making SO fast!!!  This card went together in less than 5 minutes.

I used the Mossy Meadow for the base of the card and the circle.

I trimmed the image to 5-1/4" x 4".

I stamped the words on Whisper White card stock and punched them out using the 2" circle punch.  Then I used a 2-1/8" circle punch to cut out the Mossy Meadow piece.  I set the words in place using Dimensionals and the card was done.

Talk about a super simple card to make!

A Lotus Blossom and Mother's Love Card Peekaboo Card Technique

I am not sure what occasion I will use this card for.  Maybe Mother's Day.  I made it because I wanted to try the Peekaboo Technique that I saw on Split Coast Stampers.

I tried to make one the other day but I made a mistake on it and I had to separate myself from it because I REALLY liked the decorative paper I was going to use and I didn't have anymore. So the lesson I learned here is to use retired paper or paper you don't like so much when first making something like this.  I struggle with that concept too, because what if it turns out and I REALLY don't want to make another one?  I'm not sure how many more of these I would make.  The think about this card I don't like is when that smaller fold slides across the flower image, it sometimes gets hung up on it.  If I were to make another one I would make that oval one size larger, then that piece wouldn't be able to catch on the edge.  Other than that I like how the card works.
I used the Lotus Blossom stamp set for the flower. And the words are from the Mother's Love set.  The decorative paper is from the Sweet Taffy pack.

I used Tempting Turquoise for the base of my card. I added some ribbon to the front because that space was pretty wide and the original card showed some fancy die cut stuff that I didn't have.  So I just kept mine simple with some ribbon.

It's a fun card to make but I'm not sure if I would make another one.  It would have to be for someone very special or a super special occasion!

A Beautiful Bunch Mother's Day Card

I have not used this Beautiful Bunch set much, so I thought I would take it out and make a card.  I got the background paper from the Moonlight paper pack.  This color is Blackberry Bliss and I used Rich Razzleberry for the ink on the flower.

I stamped the flower and then punched it out!  I added it to the top of the paper doily using Dimensionals.

The words are from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set and were stamped with the Rich Razzleberry as well.  I chose that color because the Blackberry Bliss was just a bit too dark.

I used a pearl in the center of the flower but before I added it, I colored it with the Blendabilities marker.  I didn't think a plain pearl would cut it.  It would have made that center look a bit blah.  It needed a punch of color.

This was a fun and quick card to make!

A Blooming with Kindness Mother's Day Card

Today I thought I would play with the same layout as yesterday. I liked how easy and quick it was to put together.

I used the Blooming with Kindness stamp set for the flower.  I used the new Blackberry Bliss card stock and ink.

The words are from the Teeny Tiny Wishes.  The decorative paper is from the Moonlight paper pack.

I used the Modern Label punch and the Word Window punch. The words were set in place using Dimensionals.

I like making these cards.  You can whip up a bunch of them in no time at all.  I only made two of this card tonight!!!  I'm afraid that if I made more I would use up all of that color of decorative paper and then when I want some it wouldn't be there.  UGH!!!  I WANT to use up these paper packs but I talk myself out of using up colors.  It doesn't get used up that way now does it??? LOL

Thank you SO much for visiting my blog today,

The Open Sea Masculine Father's Day Card

I skipped another day of posting and stamping.  I had to work and then I was playing with my silver, making rings!!! I'm still working on the issue of getting the solder to flow.  I think I have it figured out.  Now to master it!!!

Anyway, today I took some time to play with stamps.  I just don't feel normal if I don't get to play with stamps more than once a week!!!  I wasn't sure what kind of card I was going to make until I opened up the Moonlight little paper stack and saw this fun decorative paper.  It reminded me of water.  So I looked through my stamp sets and took the first ship one that I saw.  I could have used Traveler but I saw The Open Sea first so I went with it.

I stamped the ship and the words using Lost Lagoon ink.  The words are from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set.  One of my favorite.  I used my circle dies to cut out the ship and the border behind it.  The words were punched out using the Word Window punch and the Modern Label punch was used for the layer behind the words.

The base of the card is Lost Lagoon, then a trimmed piece of Whisper White was added.  3" of the decorative paper and the rest of the images were added on top of that.  A SUPER simple and quick card to make!!!

Now back to my ring.  I need to clean it up and make it round, or make it around and clean it up. I have to figure out that step too!!! LOL  I will show it to you when I get it done!!  Yes, even if it doesn't turn out!!! LOL

A Mother's Love Card

This card can be used for several occasions to give to mom.  You could give it to her for a birthday, a thinking of you, Mother's Day, or as a thank you card.

I will probably be using this one for a Mother's Day card.  I had no idea where I was going when I started this card.  All I knew was that I wanted to use the "Nobody loves like a Mom" image from the "Mother's Love" set.  As I was getting my worktable set up (meaning clearing a spot to stamp) I ran across a stamped and punched flower.  So I thought I would incorporate it into this card.

I used a strip of Rose Red decorative paper for a punch of color.
The card worked out.  It's a quick and simple one and yet it was fun to make!  Plus I got to use up a few scrap items sitting around!!!

A Sweetbriar Rose Birthday Card

Today I thought I would make a birthday card that I actually need! My cousin is having a birthday on Sunday and I thought I would make her card early.  It will take more than a couple of days to get to her so I figure I would mail it on Wednesday and she should have it by Saturday.  I'm just surprised at myself that I remembered to make her card before I needed it!!!  Score one for me!!!  Maybe that's a sign that this is going to be a great week!!!

I thought I would play with the Sweetbriar set.  I often stay away from sets like this because of the coloring.  Well, I used the Blendabilities to color in the flowers and leaves and I LOVED it!!!  I had fun with this card and I may even make another one. Coloring with those markers makes coloring SO much easier.  Everything just blends in so nicely!!!  It didn't take long to color in the image either.  I did start out with the lightest colors.  I colored in the whole thing, not just highlighted areas.  Then I went in with the next color and then finally the darker color.

My colors here are Calypso Coral and Wild Wasabi.  The base of my card is Basic Black and the pieces are layered in Basic Black for that dramatic effect!!! LOL  Did it work?? LOL

I think I would like to make some of these for Mother's Day.  They were easy enough to color.  I could just stamp several images and color them all at one time.  It only took a little strip of the Calypso Coral decorative paper so that stuff would go a long way too!!!  I may just do that.  It was fun enough to do that I know I wouldn't get bored making more!!!
