Home for Christmas Candy or Gift Card Holder

Today I thought I would give those candy/gift card holders another try.  These are so simple and quick to make. But yet I am struggling with color!!  The Santa in the second photo is cute but I don't like the holder colors. I'm usually good at putting colors together but I'm REALLY struggling here.

The top photo is done using decorative paper from the 6" x 6" Merry Moments paper stack.  It's got lots of color.  I like it better than the bottom one but it seems like there's something missing.
I do like how simple these are to make.  When I was really bummed about the one in the bottom photo, I didn't think twice about grabbing some more papers and making another one.  They go together so quickly.   Maybe I'm just trying too hard. I'll probably keep trying until I find one that I REALLY like!  They will make great gifts!!!

You can find the instructions for these here.

Thank you SO much for stopping by today,

Into the Woods Ghirardelli Candy Holder Gift Card Holder Tutorial Weekend Project

I had gotten some scrap pieces of the "Into the Woods" designer paper from Terri.  I punched out some circles from the flower designs.  I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them so I just had them stacked on my worktable.  I was going to do this project using the "Flower Shop" stamp set but I couldn't get the flower to look nice on the front.  I needed something a little bigger.  I was looking around at all the stuff on my worktable and I saw those punched circles.  So I picked one up and set it on the holder that was already put together.  I liked it but it still needed something.  It needed a border. I used my Framelits and cut out a 2-3/8" circle.  I taped the two pieces together and I liked what I saw.

I then made a bow with the "Bow Builder" punch.  I used Rich Razzleberry card stock for that.  When you make these bows it's always a good idea to use your bone folder and curl the card stock a bit first so it rolls instead of folds.  I use the bone folder on all of my pieces.  Once I got the bow glued together I set it in place with a small glue dot.  I do like to glue my bows.  I know they will stay stuck together.  Sometimes glue dots give way.

Now for the instructions on the holder.  You will need to cut your card stock 5-1/2" x 4-1/4".  Sounds like a familiar size!!!  You can make 4 holders out of one sheet of card stock!  So if you are making these for a craft fair it won't dig into your cost of goods much at all.  You will be scoring this piece of card stock on the long side at 2" and 2-1/4".  Fold the scored lines.

Next I added my decorative paper.  The paper I used came from the English Garden designer paper 12" x 12" pack.  The front part of the holder has the corners rounded and so does the decorative paper.  I cut my decorative paper 1-3/4" x 4" for the front piece and 3" x 4" for the inside piece.  I taped the pieces in place on the Mossy Meadow card stock.

I added a Dimensional to the front to corners and folded the piece up and pressed the Dimensionals in place.  Now you can use this as a candy holder or a fun gift card holder.

Beth, the gal who was showing how to make this holder said she used Ghirardelli Minis on the inside.  I found mine at Walmart in the regular candy section.  They only had the milk chocolate sea salt & almond flavor.  I was hoping for a mixed bag.  I didn't think about the color of the wrapper or I would have done something different with my decorative paper and card stock.  Perhaps Pacific Point???  Anyway, I added a Dimensional to the layered circles and then stuck it on the upper left part of the wrapper.  It's actually on the upper left of the candy, not the wrapper.  I mean it's on the wrapper but I feel the corner of the solid candy behind it. I wanted it over further to the left but it didn't lay right.  Once you get the Dimensional on, you just slip the candy inside the pocket and the circle or your design on the outside.  The Dimensional lets it sit there nicely.  I added the bow with a mini glue dot and it was done!!  Cute, huh?  And they're super EASY to make!!!

These would be great for craft fairs, as a Make n Take, a Customer Appreciation gift, a Hostess Appreciation gift, a Stamp Camp project, a Teacher's gift, a Stocking Stuffer and the list goes on and on!!

K-Cup Holder using Flower Shop and English Garden Weekend Project

Good day to you!  Today I have a fun project for you.  It's a K-Cup holder gift box/tote.  I used the new Watermelon Wonder card stock and ink to make this.  I wish I would have put a bit more thought into this and found a color closer to the tops of the K-Cups.  I thought about adding a flower to the top and a glue dot but you aren't suppose to remove the covers and I thought the glue dot may pull the cover off.  Or leave some residue behind, so I left them plain.

I found the instructions at the Scor-Pal web site.  You can see it by clicking here.   I did not print out the template.  I just measured by using the measurements along the sides of the template.  I did run into a couple of minor problems with mine.  First I forgot to punch the oval before I assembled the box.  DUH!!!  So what I ended up doing was I assembled the decorative paper on top of a piece of Mossy Meadow card stock, found center and punched the oval.  I then glued the piece in place and took my craft knife and cut out the oval by hand.  I used an emery board and sanded the edges to smooth them out a bit.  Problem solved.

Now for the other issue.  I wanted to wrap the Mossy Meadow card stock around the holder.  I didn't have any 12" x 12" card stock so I did have to add a panel to the back.  It barely shows.  The decorative paper hid most of it.  My decorative paper is from the "English Garden" pack.  I cut the strip just a 1/4" thinner than the card stock.  I wrapped it around the box.  It didn't fit either! UGH!  So what I ended up doing was turning the decorative paper so the seams ended up in the front.  I covered that 3/8" opening with a Watermelon Wonder punched flower.  Then I stamped a flower using the "Flower Shop" set and I set it in place on top of the other flower with a Dimensional.  I punched out a Mossy Meadow flower and cut a few petals off to use as leaves.  I added a big pearl to the center of the flower and I was happy with that part of the box.

The top still needed something so I added a ribbon.  You can always add a tag to make it as a gift for a birthday, get well, or thinking of you.

These are VERY fun to make and if you make it like the instructions show, you shouldn't encounter any of the issues I did.  :o)  I always have to step outside the box, don't I?  LOL  Have fun with these!  I think they would make great Hostess Gifts, Customer Appreciation Gifts, a Stamp Camp project, or a Craft Fair item!

A Lotus Blossom Note Holder

While surfing the net I ran across a note holder on a German web site run by Jana, you can see it here.  I liked the concept.  I dug out a scratch pad and measured the card stock from that.  I just laid the note pad on the card stock and marked it with a pencil and cut it to fit.  Then I marked how thick it was and scored the fold lines.  I should have taken another photo to show you the folds.  I used a half sheet of card stock and I lined up the left edge with the note pad and then I marked where the scores would go.  I was going to cut off the card stock to be flush with the back of the note pad but I decided to go ahead and score it so it folded over on top of the note pad.  It only goes about half way across the pad front on the inside.

Once I got the folded thing down, I glued the note pad to the card stock.

I added a small piece of Blackberry Bliss decorative paper along the edge.  Then I stamped my flower using the Lotus Blossom set.  I used Old Olive for the stem.  I layered the image using some Blackberry Bliss card stock.  I wanted matching ribbon but I didn't have any so I used the Rich Razzleberry Blendabilities and I colored in the ribbon.  I think it matched rather well in person.  The light reflects a bit differently on the photo and it looks a little off!

The words are from a custom made stamp I had done many years ago.  I LOVE making note cards and note holders and when you make them, you just HAVE to have a "notes" stamp!!!

3-D Star Technique

This is fun and easy technique to play with.  You cut your card stock using the Stars Framelits.  Next you score straight lines from the tip of the star to the center.  Then you score the "elbow" or "crotch" part of the star.  It's located between each star tip.  You score that to the center too.  Then you fold the tip scored lines up (hills) and the "elbow" lines you will fold down (valleys).  Then you adhere the star with Dimensionals.

I didn't make this cute candy box, Terri did.  I wasn't able to attend her technique night because I was teaching a beading class.  I don't usually schedule my Tuesday's for teaching, but it happened.  So I missed out on creating this fun treat box.  I do not know if these boxes are available in the catalog of if they were created on Technique night.  But I suppose you could create any box you like and adorn it with these fun stars!!

Masculine Scratchpad Weekend Project

First you need a scratch pad.  You can measure if you wish but I like to just wing it.  I do measure how wide the the scratchpad is but after that I just fold things over edges, mark them with my fingernail and score as I go.  My Island Indigo card stock measures 7-7/16" x 3-1/16".  It's not that important because each scratchpad is going to be different. Scratchpads are not precision work so it will be rare to find a whole pack that is exactly the same, especially if you buy them in bulk.  I had gotten mine in bulk from Staples.  Paper is heavy so you may have to pay a lot for shipping.  Fortunately when I ordered these I needed printer ink so I was able to get my order high enough to qualify for free shipping!!!

I took a full sheet of cards stock and cut it on the short side at 4-1/4".  I did that so I could use the other side for a future card.  I took the other piece and cut it the width of my scratchpad.  Then I marked the edge of the card stock where the back of the scratchpad lined up to it.  I scored that line.  Then I marked the next edge where the card stock folds over the bound end of the scratch pad.  I scored there too.  Then I measured 2" from that last score and cut the end off.  You don't have to measure.  You can eye it, just make sure you have enough to fold over.  The top edge is tucked under so a fold is showing on the front and not a raw edge. Plus that makes a little side "pocket" for you to slide in the strip of card stock to bind the top piece to the scratchpad.  I took the strip of card stock that was left over from cutting the width of my scratchpad.  I slipped it in the "pocket" and folded it around the scratchpad to the front.  I cut off the end, leaving over an inch of card stock to slip into the other "pocket."

Now for the assembly.  Glue your card stock to the back of the scratchpad.  You can tape it but you need the Sticky Strip.  It just seemed like a lot of Sticky Strip to use and it's not as easy to work with if you get the pad on crooked.  And trust me, it doesn't always want to go on straight.  Glue the card stock to the bonded edge of the scratchpad, plus glue the inside flap to the white paper on the pad.  The bottom photo shows the card stock glued to the back of the scratchpad. You can see the bound edge is not glued or that inside flap.  In the photo the inside flap is facing outward. Once I glue that it will fold in and stick to the white scratch paper.  Do not glue that flap shut or you will not be able to slip that strip of card stock inside.  A note here: Even if you cut your card stock straight and think you glued it on straight, it may not end up straight due to the scratchpad being cut just a little bit crooked.  Don't panic, it will still look fine.

This part is a bit tricky.  Put a little glue on one end of the strip and slip it inside the "pocket."  I glued both sides of the card stock strip with a light layer of glue so it wouldn't ooze out or scrape off.  Then I repeated that for the other side.  Now your scratch pad is ready to decorate as you wish!

I have a "notes" stamp that I had custom made a LONG time ago.  I use it when I make notepads and notebooks.   Next I stamped the pages with the fish from the "By the Sea" set.  That took a little while to do.  Just a note here.  The image is not as sharp as it is when you stamp on card stock.  Scratchpads are not the greatest quality of paper.  But the image is clear enough and the paper is just going to be written on and tossed out eventually.  And there you have it, a fun notepad from a plain scratchpad.

These are very fun to make and after you make a couple they go pretty fast.  It just takes a little bit of time to get the other end of that strip in.  Just start with a corner of the strip and slowly work it in.  You can bend the strip a little on the end, it won't matter, it won't show.  It will be tucked and glued to the inside!

Have fun making these and thank you SO much for stopping by today,
Wanda

Flower Shop Meets Work of Art Birthday Card

Oh my gosh, I thought I posted this card yesterday.  I didn't post anything yesterday!!!  I'm losing it!!! LOL

I found this card on Pinterest.  I am sorry but I do not know the original artist of this card.  I had it on a board on Pinterst and once I got it made I deleted the link.  Don't ask me why I did that!!  UGH.  Anyway, if this is your design or if you know who made this card, please let me know so I can give them credit and a link back to their beautiful work.  (7-17-14 The original card was made by Nikki at "My Sandbox."  Check out her card.  I LOVE the leaf stamp she used.)

I did change the card a little.  I didn't have the leaves that were used on the original card.  I wished I had, they are really pretty. I used the "Fabulous Flourishes" set.  And I also used the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" happy birthday words on my card.  Oh and I added some pearls to the center of each flower.  Other than that it's pretty much the same exact card.

Other than how fun and colorful the card was that attracted me to it, it was also the folded piece of card stock that was used as the "spine" of the card.  It's a 2" piece of card stock folded in half.  The front panel was taped to the top of that folded piece and the inside card part was taped to the inside of it.  The front panel was cut 4" x 5-1/4" while the inside part was cut 4-1/4" x 5-1/2".  I just love how that looks on the card.  It makes me want to make more cards like that.  You can also save a lot of colored card stock by making your cards like that.  It gives the card that bit of color while it mostly consists of a half sheet of white card stock!  Pretty cool.

This was a VERY fun card to make.  I LOVE the flowers, just stamp and punch!!! And the same with the butterfly!!  You know how much I LOVE easy cards like that!

Flowering Flourishes Meets Petite Petals

Today's card is a very simple and quick one to make.  You could use different colors and make a set of cards to give as a gift or sell at your craft fairs.  It would also make a wonderful Stamp Camp project.  Who wouldn't love to have a set of cards???

For my card I used Strawberry Slush for my main color.  I stamped the "flourish" in using Pear Pizzazz.  Then I stamped the flowers from the "Petite Pairs" set using Strawberry Slush ink.  I punched them out and added Dimensionals behind each one.

The words came from the "Wetlands" set and punched out with the oval punch and the scalloped oval punch.  Those were then taped together and Dimensionals were added to the back of it.

I taped the focal piece on, added the flowers and words, and that was it.  SO simple.  SO quick.

Blooming With Kindness Photo Frame

A while back when I was playing with the Blooming With Kindness set and VersaMark with chalks this idea came to mind. Well, not really that easy.  I was actually cleaning up a messy room and I ran across a bunch of frames that I was going to use for a project that has gone by the wayside.  I had this frame idea in mind and when I was using the chalk method on the VersaMark image I thought this would be the perfect thing for the frame.  I set the frame opening over the flower and saw that I did indeed have space for some wording.  I thought these words would be perfect with this picture and in the frame.  I stamped them using Early Espresso ink.  This was stamped after the chalking was all done.  I don't know what would happen if you did it before. I'm thinking you may have a smearing issue with the ink as you rub the chalks in.  Since I did the words last I really didn't have any issues with it.  Well, other than trying to make sure I got the words straight.  I know there is the Stamp-a-ma-jig but where's the challenge in that?? LOL  I'd much rather stamp it crooked, whine and redo the whole thing than use the Stamp-a-ma-jig!  Not true most of the time!  But for this I used a steady hand, I knew where my image would land on the paper and I went for it and it turned out!!!

The Wild Wasabi frame paper is from the Delicates paper pack.  I bought that pack when it first came out and I still have lots of sheets left. I need to start using them more before they retire!  But I thought the paper went well as a frame and it picked up the green in the stem.  I just wrapped the paper around the frame.  I cut a huge "X" in the center of the decorative paper and wrapped the paper over the inside of the frame.  I did glue them in place.  I was afraid tape would not hold so I played it safe and glued it in.  I wasn't to concerned on how the back of that part of the frame would look.  I knew the image was going over it plus the backing of the frame had to go on too so on one would know what the green frame looked like on the back until they took it apart to look.  And who would do that?  Let's have a show of hands!!!  I myself have been known to take things apart to see how they were put together.  But only on things I knew I could put back together!!!  Ever take something apart thinking you'd remember how to reassemble it and then find you can't?  I've done that way too many times!!!

This was a fun project and I'm sure you want to know where I got these frames!  I found them at The Dollar Tree.  Yup, only a dollar. The image inside was not display worthy but it is now!!  And this was a VERY easy project to do too!  I made it for a special friend and I know she will love it!

This would make a very fun and beautiful Stamp Camp project!!

Bag Dispenser Weekend Project

Now this would be a very fun Stamp Camp project.  You'd have to start collecting these containers way in advance.  Though you may be able to get your hands on a lot of them in a short time by contacting a local daycare provider and asking them to save them for you!  And new moms!  I'm sure you could collect them quickly if you really wanted to. It's amazing how quickly we can accomplish things if it is something we REALLY want to do! Isn't it?

This is a very fun and easy project.  The trouble I had was with the color.  I needed to find a color that matched the lid of the container.  I went with Melon Mambo. It matches well enough so I was happy with that part.  I did take a piece of copier paper and wrapped it (the long way) around the container to make a pattern for it.  Then I traced it onto the back of the decorative paper.  Be sure you flip the pattern too!  I wrote "front" on the pattern so I would remember which side I needed to face the back of the decorative paper.  Once I got the paper cut I used the Sticky Strip to affix it to the container.  All but the final edge.  There I glued it in place.  And decorate it as you wish.  I used the computer to do the words and the Labels collection Framelets on the front.  I added some Baker's Twine and some button with Baker's Twine on them.  I didn't want to dress it up too much because I wasn't sure how much use and abuse the container was going to take so I just kept it simple.

For the bags on the inside you must take your bags and straighten them out, including the handles. Then fold them in half.  With the fold on the left lay the bag down and set another folded bag at the bottom of the first bag with the handles over the first bag.  I rolled the brownish bag up to the handle and then I just slid the white bag on the top edge of the brownish bag and I made sure the handles were on top of the white bag.  Then I rolled up the white bag and when I got to the handles of that bag I added another and so on.  When I got done (eyeing up how big the roll of bags was and how big the container is) I pulled out two of the bags from the center.  I felt I had rolled them too tight and I didn't want to screw up the whole concept I had going here of having a bag dispenser.  I took those two bags and rolled them up on the outside of the roll of bags. Then I put the roll in the dispenser and pushed the next handles through the hole in the lid of the dispenser and of course I had to pull one out.  Oh my goodness, it worked!!!! How cool is this?

I found this idea on Pinterest (along with a million other things I pinned - but this is one I actually did!!).  I use to fold my bags to the size of a greeting card and put them in a tote (I know, how picky can you be about storing bags??? LOL) but now I will be folding them in half and just rolling them up until I need to refill the dispenser!!!  Now don't you think it would be a great Stamp Camp idea?

Designer Buttons Push Pins Weekend Project

I actually had to look to see if the "things" were still called "thumb tacks."  And they were.  I didn't want to date myself here!!! LOL

I saw this on Pinterest.  You just take buttons and glue them onto thumb tacks and you have VERY pretty decorative push pins for your bulletin boards. how cool is that?  Aren't they cute?

I used E-6000 glue to stick them to the thumb tacks.    It was easy to do too.  I just set a piece of card stock over a piece of thick Fun Foam.  Then I pushed a few thumb tacks through the paper and into the foam a bit.  Then I put a bit of E-6000 on the thumb tack and set the button on top.  I just let them dry over night and they were completely set and usable.  Aren't they pretty?  What a cute way to dress up a bulletin board, huh?  And SO simple.  You can add ribbons to the buttons and tie in a bow before gluing in place and you can even cut the prongs off brads and glue them to the center of the buttons for some added depth.  It's a great way to use up old buttons too.  Though these were not old but it's ok, they were pretty and fun!

Dahlia Adornments Earrings Weekend Project

Today I thought I would play with the new in-color Dahlia Adornments.  When I started out I was thinking of something in the line of an embellished card but I ran across a pair of earring backs and thought the adornments would fit on them nicely and they sure did!  SO I headed for the drawer I keep my glues in and hoped that my E-6000 was not dried up!  It wasn't so off I went to my worktable.

Then the next issue was what color of earrings should I make?  All the colors in the container were so pretty but I only had one pair of earring backs!  So I opted for the Raspberry Ripple.  I know my sister is going to LOVE these!  I may even make some for the fall craft fair.  I have lots of flowers left from last catalog.  It's a great way to use them up!!  And it's not very expensive at all to do either!

You can click on the photo for a closer view.  I didn't have my big camera battery charged so I had to use the one on my phone so I wasn't able to get as close as I wanted to.  But you know what earring backs look like and you can see the flowers so I guess it worked out well enough!

You can get those earring backs at Bead Basics. Just give Jill a call at 763-717-4200 and she can get them sent out to you so you can get your earrings made for gifts and to sell.  They would also make a great Stamp Camp project, Customer Appreciation Gifts, Hostess Gifts and of course Craft Fairs.

These are fun and very easy to make too!

Serene Silhouettes Notebooks Weekend Project

As I was looking at the Serene Silhouettes set and thinking about my challenge of using every image in the set I figured this circle one might be the one that will cause me trouble.  I was going to use one of the other images to make a card, because that was the easiest thing to do.  I looked again at the circle image and decided to take on the challenge now and make something with it.  But what?  I thought it would look cute in the center of my little 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" notebooks.  I had just cut some inside filler pieces, punched them and set them aside.  Why not use them now too?  So the plan was set in motion.  Picking the colors was the next challenge but not too difficult.  I SO love the Cherry Cobbler color.  It reminds me of the Bravo Burgundy but not quite as deep.  And what to go with it. Well, why not the Midnight Muse card stock.  I have a couple variety packs and more and it's best to use them.  I look at the retired colors I have that I hardly used.  I'm sure they will be used for some notebooks coming up (that probably won't get posted on here) but they will get used.  I am going to try harder to use my papers, including the decorative papers more.  Why do you buy them if you don't use them???  Silly me!  But I do know I need to get some current ribbons.

I got some new watercolor crayons too.  It's always nice to have a new box of crayons, isn't it? Mine had an accident.  There was this open container of watercolor crayons, a cup of coffee and a cat.  Watercolor crayons and coffee do not mix well.  This happened when I had left for a few hours and when I got home it was too late for the crayons.  Those things can absorb a lot of liquid!  Maybe had it been water I might have been able to leave them sit and hope they dry out.  But coffee, nope.  There was no hope!! So now these things are guarded and coffee in my workroom now has covers!!  Helpful rules to live by!

Anyway, these notebooks will be put in a container with the rest of the finished ones for the fall craft fair.  If you make things like this to see you do need to put the Stampin' Up! copyright stamp on the back.  It's their rules and ya gotta follow them!!

Flowering Flourishes Card Holder

Ok, I told you I was going to make more cards and a holder for them and I did.  The first photo is the front of the holder.  Just a clean and simple looking cover.

The second photo is of the inside of the greeting card holder.  It's has a magnetic closure, which I LOVE.  It gives it a more professional look somehow!  There's two pockets and inside each pocket is 2 cards and 2 decorated envelopes.  The holder will hold up to a total of 8 cards and envelopes, depending on how thick you embellish your cards.  But the way this holder is designed, if you decide to just make 4 cards and 4 envelopes, like I did, there will be some room in the pockets but the cards won't fall out because once it's closed there are no open gaps for cards to slip out.  That is how I designed it and that is why I designed it that way.  I have seen a lot of card holders out there and many of them have the top or one side open and if you tile or turn the holder all the cards can fall out.  Tilt and turn this one all you want, the cards are going to stay inside!

And the last photo is of the contents of the holder.  The Petite Pairs set was perfect for the words on these cards.  They fit inside the 1-3/8" circle punch.  The cards are as follows: a thank you card, a birthday card, a sympathy card and a Best Wishes card.  I have made LOTS of these card holders and by the time the craft fairs roll around I have them all packaged up for sale and ready to go.  They are not difficult to make either.  And these are also great for a Stamp Camp project!  There's over 170 Stamp Camp projects on this blog.  Just click here to be directed to them.

You can purchase the pattern here.  It's in PDF format and it's still on sale!  The pattern allows you to make as many as you wish and sell as many as you wish.  And you get at tip on how to save money on the button magnets too!

Notes Holder Weekend Project

Once again I had trouble downloading my photos.  I use to be able to just highlight the two photos and click the button and the two would download at the same time.  I tried it twice and I ended up having to download them individually.  I was just about to just use the one photo but I did manage to get both of them on here.  It never use to be that difficult to do.  The software must have been updates.  That's usually when things go wrong!

Anyway, on to my project here.  I saw this cute note holder on Angie's Chic'n Scratch blog.  I would love to have taken credit for this fun idea but alas, it was not me that discovered it!  Though it is SO me!! LOL

To make these you just use the tags die cut.  It was a lot easier to make than I thought it would be.  The die cuts the shape, makes that slit and scores the center at the same time. What more could you ask for?

You fold the tag in half.  Add your image to the front (rounding the corners of the background paper) and add your small post it notes to the inside along with a note.

I used the retired set "Teacher's Pet."  I cut out the elephant and after I colored it I then tied a piece of Bakers Twine around the trunk.  On the inside I stamped the "don't forget" words from elephant stamp.  It's such a great image and great words for these note holders!!  You can use any images you want on yours.

Once you are done you tuck the bottom of the tag into the slit on the top part. Add some ribbon and it's done!  How easy is that?  And how cute is that?  Can you see making these in a winter theme for stocking stuffers, or for make n takes, hostess appreciation gifts, customer appreciation gifts, craft fairs, teacher's gifts and don't forget about a Stamp Camp project!!!  You can even get the kiddies involved with this project!!!  These are VERY fun to make and I can assure you I will be making more of these.  I want to try to figure out some thing with them so I can use them at the bridal shower coming up this fall!  I have lots of time to figure out what to put on them.

Anyway, if you have time and the die for this go make some, they are SO fun!

Wanda

Weekend Project Time!

I love these weekend projects, don't you?  Well, most of them anyway!!!  I especially love the ones that don't take very long to make.

A few weeks ago I had made a St. Patrick's Day birthday card for hubby's aunt.  It was a fun and quick card to make.  I had gotten these cute St. Patrick's Day stickers at Michaels because they were not only cute but on sale for under $.70 for the strip of them!  When I saw them I knew I was going to be making a card for hubby's aunt since there are really not a lot of St. Patrick's Day stamps out there and even less that are for a birthday on that day.

I let the gals use the rest of the stickers when they came here to stamp last month and there was one left.  Well, I didn't want to store it with the rest of the TONS of stickers that I have so I thought I would just use it.

I took one of those cute little clear containers I had gotten at Clear Bags and I filled it with green Sixlets. I LOVE that color of green and it's perfect for what I was doing with them.  Next I tied a bow around the clear box and then I just stuck the sticker on.  How simple is that??

A couple of weeks ago at the Stampin' Up! Open House I was at my sister and I bought the Stampin' Up! stickers.  I don't know what they are called since we split the package and I gave her the vital information part!!!  Some of the stickers, like the cake are too big for this box but there are some other ones that would be adorable on here.  I was thinking on how to go about doing this and I would do it much like this sticker is done.  I would punch out a round circle and add the stickers to it and add another one matching one on top of that one using a Dimensional.  Then I would have the layered look of the sticker like this one has.  I think it will work!  I'm going to see if I have time later in the week to give it a try.  I have a lot of hours at work coming up this week so it may be tough to sneak some time in at home to try this but I'll try my best to see if I can.

I can see these little containers showing up in Christmas stockings too, can't you?  I would love to make one up but I think I'm going to save that idea until fall because I am really not in the mood for winter projects now.  I want spring!!!  And I can see these as a fun Make N Take, a Stamp Camp project and even selling them at craft fairs.  Though I think Christmas ones would sell better at craft fairs.  I may have to try out a few of them this fall myself.  And don't forget the kiddies.  This could be a fun gift for the kids to make for the grandparents or teachers!!! You can make them for co-workers, the mail carrier and the UPS delivery person too!

Card Holder

Well, I took the card from yesterday and ran with it.  I thought I would make my trusty card holder.  I have made TONS of these holders and have sold them with 4 cards and 4 envelopes inside.  I like to decorate the front of them with the same papers used on the cards.  To see the original card that inspired the box look, click here.

First I made the cards.  I just copied the one I made yesterday.   I did use the "Sincere Salutations" set for the words.  I should have taken a photo of one of the cards showing the words, silly me!  I used the "Happy Birthday, Get Well Soon, Thinking of You and Thank You" from that set.  That set is one of my favorite word sets.  I've had it for MANY years and each year I am thrilled that it is still in the catalog.  I just love it that I can make a set of cards exactly the same except for the words.  These words are all on the same size blocks so they are about the same size in rubber form.  That allows me to use the same space on each card to make it a "different" card just by changing the words.

After I made the cards I stamped the envelops and then I went to work making the card holder.  This is a fun card holder that I designed.  What I like about it is, it opens up easily and closes into the card holder piece you see in the first photo.

The second photo shows what the inside looks like with the top opened half way.  And the third photo shows what you see when the entire piece is opened.

See the magnet at the top in the third photo?  It shuts tightly with the magnet.  I LOVE that about this card holder.  It stays shut and the cards don't fall out because the sides are contained too!  I have gotten a lot of comments on it and I've sold a lot of them too.  They are easy to make and I have had good luck selling card sets at craft fairs.

This holder keeps 4 cards and 4 envelopes nicely. I think it may even hold 6 if there isn't a lot of layers or bulky accessories on the cards.

You can find the card holder in my web store.  Just click here to be directed to it.  And it's still on sale too!  It is a PDF file so once you pay you will get an email with the download info on it so you can get working on it right away!  These make a GREAT Stamp Camp item!  You are allowed to make and sell as many of these holders as you wish too!  There is no limit on the pattern!

I am going to use this one for a gift. But I just got another pack of the Spice Cake decorative paper (I won it.  It was the grand prize at the Stampin' Up! open house I was at last weekend.  Lucky me!!) so I will be making another one because I LOVE these colors and I also love the layout of the card.

Purse Notepad Weekend Project

This is a die cut purse that you decorate with whatever papers you want.  Here I used papers from the Everyday Enchantment pack and the in colors card stock.

The inside of it is about 30 sheets of copier paper that was cut to fit.  I didn't have one of those hinged rings so I used ribbon and tied it in a bow on the left side there to hold it all together.  I do have plans to go shopping and get some of those rings.  Probably 1/2" to 3/4".  I am thinking the smaller the better.

This was very fun to make and I think I'm going to make some for the fall craft fair!  It would be a great way to use up some of that decorative paper I have sitting around here too!!!  I guess I'd better get cracking on that project!!!

I believe I got the die at Oh My Crafts dot com.   Here's the great deal on this item, it's a long die and it was on sale for $9.  And their shipping isn't bad either.

I have stampers tonight so I'd better get going so I can be free to help them out or misdirect them in anyway I can!!

Thank you SO much for visiting tonight,

Valentine's Day Lip Balm Holder Weekend Project

I have not made a Lip Balm holder in a long time.  These are very easy to make and trust me here, they are lots of fun!  I made some one time for stocking stuffers, for gifts and for the DIVA's around Halloween.  I remember taping some tiny square mirror tiles on the insides of those!!!  You can see them here.

The pattern for the holder was from SplitCoastStampers.  Click here for the pattern.

The front of my holder was actually made by me.  I took the conversation hearts candy and put them all face up on a piece of paper and took a picture of them!  Personally I don't like them.  The taste of them not the looks of them.  I think they are cute to look at but gross to eat!!! I printed the photo out onto a piece of label sheet.  I cut it to fit the lip balm and wrapped it around the lip balm.  It really did dress up that little tube!!!  And since I had printed out two of them (I was testing the color on one of them) I thought I would use it on the front of the holder.  It worked too!!! I thought it turned out cute.  I usually have a ribbon going around the holder.  It is added between the front layer and inside layer.  I decided to use a heart shaped brad for my closure.  Most of the time the one who receives the holder takes the lip balm out and tosses the holder.  I know I have done that!!

On the outside of the holder I stamped the words Happy Valentine's Day from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.  I randomly stamped it all over the front.  It needed a little something but I didn't want to add too much color because I didn't want to take the focal point off from the printed candies.

Isn't the inside paper cute?  It's from the "Sweet Shop" designer paper package.

These little holders also sell well at craft fairs for me.  I often get my lip balms from Avon (when they have a great sale on them) and I have gotten them at Aldi, the ones they carry are REALLY nice and I didn't think they were very expensive either.  I try to find good deals on them so I have a better profit margin when I am selling them.

These also make a fun Stamp Camp project, a great Make n Take, customer appreciation gifts, hostess appreciation gifts and as I mentioned above they make great stocking stuffers.  Get busy on making them for your holiday gift giving. When I make a bunch of them I will make myself a template and use it on the inside of each piece so it's quicker to do. I only have to measure the one time.  After that I just trace the lines and use my x-acto knife and I'm done in no time.   I have great plans of making these for the fall craft fair.

I have a little tip for you on the instructions.  They have you cut the front and inside the same exact sizes.  I cut mine 1/8" smaller on two sides.  Once they were put together you could see the inside.  I didn't like trimming it off and it didn't look very nice on the inside once you do that.  Cutting the piece a bit smaller made a world of difference!  Other than that I just followed the simple instructions.

Have fun making these and thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda

Strawberry Milk Anyone? Weekend Project

I have a bunch of these little cruet jars/containers.  I had gotten them for a project that went by the wayside.  So I am trying to find different ways to use them.  Any suggestions? I'm open for them.  I think I have 4 dozen of these. I need to fill them with something (I was thinking of bath salts) so I can sell them at the fall craft fair and get them out of here!!!

This one contains strawberry powder to be added to milk.  Like the Nestle Quick stuff but it's Strawberry.

This little container held exactly 2 tablespoons full, which is what the directions say to add to your glass of milk.

I decorated the jar with some fun hearts I cut out using the new Sizzlet die from Stampin' Up!.  What a fun die that is.  I LOVE all the different size and textured hearts.  I picked out a few and used Glue Dots to affix them to the jar and lid.
The large heart is also done using a Sizzlet.  When I cut out this one I didn't run it all the way through the machine.  I stopped when I saw the words appear on the opposite end.  I wanted the heart to be like a card so I folded it in half before I cut it.  I didn't quite get it right the first time and since the heart was stuck in the die I was able to put it back in and crank the handle a little bit further to get it where I wanted it to be.  And you can see how well it turned out.

The words inside the heart were done on the computer.  And get this, I got them all liked up the first time so I didn't have to play around with it and realign it.  I added a little heart on the inside from the ones I had cut out earlier for the jar.  I punched a hole in it and tied it to the bow with some baker's twine.

I thought it turned out cute and it is going in the basket of fun Valentine's Day stuff for a very special friend.  The basket is getting pretty full.  I have a couple more things to make and I think the basket will be ready to add the paper crimps to it and seal it up!  I'm getting anxious to show it all finished (but I have to finish it first!!!).

These cute cruets can be found in the bridal section at Michael's.  Joann's would probably have them too but I had gotten mine at Michael's.  Now what do I do with the other TON of them I have left???
