The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.
I cut a 4-3/4" x 3-1/2" piece of Balmy Blue card stock for the layer. The original instructions has the piece cut a bit longer. I cut my according to their measurements and had to trim it back so it was 4-3/4" instead of 5". At least the error had you cut it longer instead of shorter! Anyway, on top of that is a layer of Poppy Parade and a Basic White focal piece. The Poppy Parade layer measures 3-7/8" x 2-3/4" and the Basic White layer measures 3-3/4" x 2-5/8".
The first thing I did was I die cut the boat using Poppy Parade card stock and then the sail using Basic White card stock. I taped the two pieces together. I laid the boat on top of the Basic White piece so I could get an idea where the water marks should go. Those water marks were stamped using Balmy Blue ink and then stamped again without adding more ink.
And while I still had the stamp and ink out I stamped the water marks on the Balmy Blue piece. Those water marks were stamped off once to they had a lighter look to them.
A 1" circle was punched and a bit of removable tape added to the back. Once laid the boat on the front of the card so I could see where the moon is going to be. I set the circle in place, set the boat aside and using my Blending Brush I scrubbed on some Balmy Blue in the water and sky.
The bird was stamped next using black Memento ink.
The words are from "The Right Words" set using black Memento ink on a scrap piece of Balmy Blue card stock. The scrap was left over from cutting the large Balmy Blue layer. That strip measures 1/2" x 2". Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set aside. I also added Dimensionals to the back of the boat and sails.
It's time to assemble the card. I taped the Basic White piece to the Poppy Parade piece. Then that was taped to the Balmy Blue piece. That was then taped to the card base.
The boat was added next and then the words.
I didn't have the embellishments that were used on the original card so I used what I had. Mine were some long ago retired enamel dots. I don't know what the package was called. It has stars and hearts on it too. I just thought it was close enough and it worked!
This was a fun card to make. Oh, I forgot to mention, when I put the sail boat in place I moved the sails to the left a bit causing the bottom mast part to bend just a bit but it's not noticeable.
Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's masculine birthday card,
Wanda
