Gears & Texture, Banner Sayings, Friendly Foliage, Masculine Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a masculine birthday card to share with you.  I found one on Pinterest that I thought was a great masculine card so I thought I'd give it a try with what I had. There was no link to the original card but you can see a pic of it on Pinterest by clicking here. Please read on to see how I made the card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Beautiful Pattern" embossing folder.  I taped it to the front of the card base.

Next I cut a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Nature Walk" 12" x 12" package.  I cut it at 2-3/4" x 4-1/2".  I cut a strip from another piece of DSP in the same package to measure 1-1/2" x 4-1/2".  I tore the left side of that strip and taped it to the other piece of DSP.  I set it on my cutter and cut it to measure 3-1/4" x 4-1/2". It's roughly 3-1/4" because the torn edge is difficult to measure easily.  Mine was a bit larger so I cut off a bit from the right side. Problem solved!

Next I die cut the gears, chain and Phillips head tops using the "Gears & Texture" dies. I only had shiny silver foil card stock and I'm just trying to use what I have.

I taped the chain piece down along the edge where the DSP meet. I was able to get the chain straight because I lined up the green color on the inside edge of the chain.  I used tape to add it and then I had to clear out the openings in the chain because the glue made a webbing in it.  Once I got it cleaned out I set it in place.

Dimensionals were added to the large gear and it was set in place on the front of the card.  It's about 1/2" from the fold and 7/8" up from the bottom. Next the open gear was set in place, it's about 1/4" from the fold and 1" up from the bottom.  I added pieces of Dimensionals to it. The last gear is about 1/2" from the fold and 1/4" from the bottom edge. Pieces of Dimensional were added to the back of the gear.

I had cut a round circle and I added one of the pieces that looks like the top of a Phillips head screw. I taped that to the round circle (again I had to clean out the webbing of tape from the center) and then the circle was taped to the center of the large gear.

I cut two leafy pieces using the die from the "Friendly Foliage" bundle.  I cut them out using "Secret Sea" card stock.  I snipped the ends off, added a little bit of glue and slid them under the gears.

The "Happy Birthday" is from the "Banner Sayings" bundle using Versa Mark ink and I embossed the words using silver embossing powder.  I cut them out using one of the die shapes in the bundle.  I added tape to the left side and a Dimensional to the right.

I had two Phillips head pieces left so I taped them to the right side of the card (after cleaning out the webbing of tape from the centers - I just use a toothpick to do that).   And the card was done.

This was a very fun card to make and I can see myself making another one in the near future. If I can find some more foil card stock in my stash.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's masculine birthday card,
Wanda

Great masculine card, I like the torn edges, great papers and the chain with them, like how you arranged the gears and the phillips heads add a neat touch to it!
