Simply Said, Extraordinary Floral Washi Tape, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. One can never have enough birthday cards on hand, can they? I saw this card on Pinterest and thought I'd give it a try. I have a lot of the "Extraordinary Floral" Washi tape left so why not? You can see the original card by clicking here. There was no link attached to it and no name of who made it so I guessed at how it was put together. Please read on to see how I made this card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Basic White card stock and I took a whole section of the Washi tape and burnished it onto the right side of the piece. I had pulled it up and removed it several times. It made wrinkles in the Washi tape doing that but I was amazed at how easy it was to smooth them out just using my bone folder. Go slowly and go over it several times and all of a sudden every wrinkle was gone!  It's not like I pressed the whole thing in place, I worked on the outside edge and after a few attempts I got it to go straight along the edge of the card stock.  I trimmed off the right side a bit and then the left side so it measured 4" there. And from top to bottom it was trimmed to 5-1/4".

The embossed flowers are from the "Glass Garden" folders set. I trimmed it to 2" x 5-1/4" after I embossed it.  I glued it to the left side of the card stock with the Washi tape on it. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the front of the card.

I had some flowers and leaves already cut from the Washi tape roll.  They were left over from other times when I'd cut a full strip.  The die covers the full strip so you get a lot of pieces in one cut.  I didn't have the rose but pieces because I needed several of them on a prior card and I was left with a lot of other pieces. I just pop them in a little zip bag and hang onto them till I need them.  So on my card I added two smaller flowers and a long leaf image under them in place of the rose buds.  It's still pretty this way. I had taken the large flower and added Dimensionals to the back. I used my silicone mat and slipped the pieces under the large flower. Some pieces were pretty loose but once I got them together I added glue to the back and then set the piece in place on the front of the card.

The words are from the "Simply Said" set and were stamped using black Memento ink on a 1/2" 3-1/8" piece of Basic Beige card stock. I wasn't sure if the piece was Basic Beige or Soft Sea Foam, either one will work. I had a scrap piece of Basic Beige so I thought I'd use it.  I set the word piece in place using some small glue dots on the right and glue on the left. I didn't think the glue would stick well on top of the Washi tape.  I also added a few small glue dots to the green leaves that crossed over from the flower cluster to the Washi sheet.

For a final touch I added a little flower using a small Dimensional and the card was done.

It's SO pretty. How could you not want to make one?

Thank you SO very much for stopping in and seeing today's birthday card,
Wanda
