The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.
I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Exposed Brick" embossing folder. I glued it in place and set it under my stamping mat to give it a little pressure while it was setting up.
Using the second smallest square die in the "Stylish Shapes" set I cut three pieces from the "Brushed With Beauty" 12" x 12" package of Designer Series Paper (DSP). When I taped them together, I counted the stitch marks, 8 on each side. I figured if I counted them then it would be even on both sides and easy to get all three pieces aligned nicely. I set them aside.
Next I cut a 3-5/8"x 4-7/8" piece of Basic White card stock for the top layer. I laid the squares on top but I didn't tape them in place yet. I needed to see where the words should go. Once I saw how it was going to look, I stamped the words from "The Right Words" set using black Memento ink.
The squares were then taped in place. The left tips of the squares are about 5/8" from the fold.
The leafy piece is from the "Petals of Beauty" bundle and was cut using a piece of Basic White card stock that had a piece from a double-sided sheet to the back. I wanted this piece to be a sticker because it's too tiny to try to glue down nicely. Once that was set in place I added Dimensionals to the back of the layer and it was set in place on the front of the card. And the card was done.
I think some embellishments would look pretty on it but I left it plain because I'm mailing it and I don't want to pay the extra postage for the embellishments.
This was a fun card to make and I liked playing with the squares.
Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card.
Now I'm off to work a little more on a bracelet I decided to make. Would you like to see it once it's done?
Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda
