Simply Said, Extraordinary Flora Washi Tape, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a birthday card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. On the left is a 1-7/8" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) that was from the "Bloom Impressions" 12" x 12" package that was in the Sale-a-Brations catalog. I ran across this folded card with the DSP tapped to it when I was looking for something else on my worktable. I thought I'd make a card with it and get it off the table before it gets ruined. Now you can use any of your papers that will compliment the flowers from the "Extraordinary Flora" Washi tape roll. Or you can just use Basic White card stock and texture it. The other piece I found used a piece of this same DSP and the Basic White piece on the right was texture using a retired embossing folder. I will probably make a card using that at another date. So back to this card. I also had a piece of Basic White card stock on my worktable that was textured using the "Mini Corrugated" embossing folder. Now I know you're going to take a closer look after I tell you this but the piece was a hair shorter than the DSP but I managed to hide the areas where the DSP and the white strip came near each other so you can't tell right away that they are not the same length.

I glued the corrugated piece in place. That piece measured 2", not 1-7/8" like the DSP strip but I didn't think it would matter and it doesn't. There is a little space between the DSP and the corrugated piece but it's all hidden. the main concern was to get the corrugated piece near the right edge to look like it's the same distance as the fold and the DSP. It's close enough by eyeing it. It's not far off that anyone will notice.

The words were stamped next. They are from the "Simply Said" set and were stamped using Melon Mambo ink. After getting the card put together I'd recommend using black Memento ink or maybe Gorgeous Grape. The Melon Mambo was too much on the "red" side of the spectrum. But it is what it is.

Once the words were stamped I added Dimensionals to the back and et it in place on the front of the card. I just measured and the circle is a bit higher than center but it's okay, no one will notice. I just eye it and go for it! Sometimes I will measure and try to get things perfectly centered but most of the time I just eye it. If it looks good by my eyes it will look just fine by someone else's.

After the word piece was set in place I cut the flowers from the "Extraordinary Flora" strip. I had put a piece of Basic White behind the Washi tape and pressed it into the card stock. Then taking the matching die I cut the flowers out. There's 16 images per strip. I used all but one of this card. It was two yellowish looking cone flowers that I didn't think would work at all into this because of the color.

The larger flowers with leaves were glued to the circle on the end they touch the circle and Dimensionals were added to the other end. I didn't press down on them because I thought I might need to slip leaves under them. I just continued to add the flowers and leaves until I though it looked full enough and pretty and that's when I saw I was down to the last image. That was fun to use them all on a card. That DSP does go well with the Washi tape, too bad it's not still available.

This was a fun card to make and I love how colorful and cheery it is.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda
