The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.
I cut a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of copier paper for a template. I had also cut my piece of Basic White card stock that size too because I wasn't sure what the measurements would be since there were no instructions to go by. So what I did first was I flipped the piece over and made the score lines. They start 1/4" in and are 1/4" apart. You need to make 4 of them. I left 1/4" on the other end. Once I did that I cut the piece off. Now the piece measures 3-3/4" x 1-1/4". There now you have the measurement for that left piece. The right piece ended up measuring 3-3/4" x 3", leaving a 3/4" opening in the middle.
Now go grab some of your strips of scrap Designer Series Paper (DSP) and cut it 3-3/4" x 1-1/2". It can be narrower too but no smaller than 1" wide. You need to be able to affix it to the two pieces of Basic White card stock. I used tape for mine but if your piece is very small, you can use glue. My DSP is from the "Perennial Lavender" 12" x 12" package.
I took my cut piece of copier paper and I laid the two white pieces down where they would be going. Then I eyed where the DSP would go. I removed the two white pieces and set the DSP down on the copier paper. I added tape to both long edges and then, keeping it on the copier paper, I set the Basic White pieces in place. The copier paper was my guide to keep the piece at 3-3/4" x 5".
Next I stamped the words. They are from the "Beautiful Butterflies" bundle. I used Gorgeous Grape to stamp them.
From that same bundle I cut a Basic White butterfly.
I turned the 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Basic White card stock over and added Dinensionals to it. I set it in place on the front of the card base.
The butterfly was added using a trimmed Dimensional. I added three tiny crystal rhinestones along the body and the card was done.
Isn't this just a perfect way to use up those scraps or to even use busy DSP? I like how it turned out and I plan on making a few more for other occasions. It's quick, simple and fun too!
Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's friendship card,
