Under My Umbrella, Thinking of You Card, Friendship Card

Welcome back to my blog. I wanted to make one more card using the "Under My Umbrella" set before I put it back on the shelf until it retires next month.  I may make a couple more cards using it before I say goodbye to it.  I REALLY need to downsize my sets.

I took a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Flowers for Every Season"  6" x 6" stack.  I stamped the umbrella top using black Memento ink on the yellow flowered DSP.  I wanted to find some DSP that had smaller designs so it wouldn't get lost on the small umbrella piece. This worked perfectly. After stamping I punched it out with the matching punch.

I stamped the raindrops on a 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" piece of Basic White card stock using Seaside Spray ink. Then I die cut the circle out using the largest Stitched Circle die. I set the umbrella on top to see where to stamp the handle. The handle was stamped using black Memento ink.  Make sure you check your block before you stamp so you don't get any ink from the corners onto the circle like I did. I didn't know I got ink on the corner of the block and I didn't know it transferred to my stamped circle.  I wasn't sure what I was going to do. I REALLY didn't want to stamp more raindrops. Not that it was difficult but I just didn't want to. SO I stamped the tiny flower cluster and fussy cut it out. Then I colored it using by light Flirty Flamingo, light Mango Melody and light Granny Apple Green Blends pens. I would just hide the smudge of ink that there was no other way of hiding other than starting over.

The boots were stamped and fussy cut out.  I colored them with the light So Saffron Blends pen. Then I colored in some dark Mango Melody and then I colored over the Mango Melody so it would blend in better. I didn't like what I saw, it needed Crushed Curry but I don't have any Crushed Curry Blends pens and Stampin' Up! doesn't either!  I ended up using my Crushed Curry marker and just colored on the top edge of the boots, the bottom of the boots and along the left side of each boot. It drew that color in that I was looking for. Now I was happy with the way the boots looked.

I took another piece of DSP from the same package and I cut it at 5-1/2" x 1-1/4".  I also cut a piece of Crushed Curry card stock at 5-1/2" x 1-1/2" and I taped those two pieces together.

I used the largest scalloped circle to die cut a Crushed Curry piece for the raindrop layer. I taped the two circles together.

The striped strip and circle piece was set on top of the card base for placement of the words. The words are from the same "Under My Umbrella" set and were stamped using black Memento ink.

Once the words were stamped I was ready to assemble the pieces.

First I taped the strip in place about 1/2" from the fold. Dimensionals were added to the back of the circle piece and set in place on the front of the card. I added the umbrella, boots and the little flower cluster using Dimensionals. And when I looked at the card I thought something was missing. The boots needed something. So I stamped another little cluster of flowers and fussy cut the smaller one. I colored it the same as I did for the other flower cluster. I added a dot of glue and set it in place on the boot.

I finished off the card by adding some Wink of Stella to the flowers and the card was done.

This was a fun and easy card to make. It would also be a great friendship card and it could easily be changed into a bridal or baby shower card.  I may have to make a few of those before I sell my set/bundle.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time today to see my latest thinking of you card,
Wanda
