Art Gallery, Birthday Card, 2021 Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog

The "Art Gallery" set not only has the beautiful larger flower bit also has this little bouquet of flowers. I had not used it yet so today I found a card on Pinterest that was SO pretty that I just had to give this part of my set a try.  I was a bit disappointed though. The bouquet is not as easy to work with as the larger one. This is all one piece.  There were no instructions on how this card was made.  I Read on to see how I made it work.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  On top of the card base is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White that was textured using the "Old World Paper" embossing folder. The original card used the new "Painted Texture" folder. One that I feel I need to get!!! But the "Old World Paper" folder worked just fine. I did cut my card stock at 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" before I textured it. I didn't want the piece to become smaller than I needed once it was textured. That's happened too many times to me so I texture first and then I cut. Do not set it in place just yet.

I used the 2-5/8" x 4" "Stitched Rectangle" die to cut a piece of Whisper White card stock for the focal layer.

Then I stamped the flower using the bouquet image from the "Art Gallery" set. I did set it up in my Stamparatus so I could make sure I got all the areas colored.  I used Blushing Bride card stock on the flowers. I colored them in with a marker. On my first attempt I used the ink pad and then took my blender pen to remove the unwanted ink but by the time I was done, the ink on the flowers beaded up.  So I turned my card stock so I could start fresh. Using the markers made a big difference. I colored all the flowers using the marker and then I stamped them on the card stock. I didn't bother huffing on it because I knew I could color over the areas and stamp again, the Stamparatus allows you to stamp in the exact same spot each time.  Then I took the highlight image and stamped it using Poppy Parade ink.  I didn't add any highlights to the small buds, just the three larger ones. Once I got them dark enough and fully colored they way I thought they should look, I moved on to the leaves and stem.

I colored the leaves and stems using my Granny Apple Green marker. I did have to color and stamp it twice to get a nice image. I still wasn't fond of how it all looked. It's not as pretty looking as the larger flower is.  But after I die cut the piece out I liked it much better, the image looked SO much better.

The words are from the same set and were stamped on a scrap piece of Blushing Bride card stock using Versa Mark. I sprinkled white embossing powder on the piece and heat set it. I took the die from the "Art Gallery" bundle and I die cut the words out. And now I was ready to assemble.

I added the stitched rectangle piece in place using Dimensionals.  Then I took a piece of white ribbon (mine is retired but it's white and it works!) and I taped the ends around the back of the textured piece. I then set the textured piece in place using glue. I have not had good luck with these deeply textured pieces sticking very well. But glue seems to do it so I don't even bother to see if tape works because I know the glue does!

I set the flower bouquet in place using small Dimensionals. Then the words were added using small Dimenionals placed on the left end, one in the middle and one towards the right end but not too close to it because it will just hang there over the piece. It's placed more under the "h & d" in Birthday.  Just place them so the piece doesn't sink in the middle.

I had some retired sequins and  I glued them in place on the front of the card.  And that was it!!

This card was fun. I'm still not loving the image as much as I do the larger one but maybe I'll find some other pretty cards on the net that will make me want to use it again.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time today to stop by and check in on my new post,                  Wanda
