Forever Fern, Here's a Card, Birthday Card

Today I needed a birthday card and it's rare that I would ever pick one from my stash.  I always feel like I need to make a "fresh" one.  I am still loving the "Forever Fern" set.

This card has lots of pieces to it. The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Real Red card stock.  I cut a 3-1/2" x 4-5/8" piece of Whisper White card stock.  On top of that is a 3-3/8" x 4-1/2" piece of Designer Series Paper. Mine is from the "Regals" 6" x 6" stack.  I'm not real fond of the images in the stack, I like the older ones better.  I think every year there should be a sheet of polka dotted paper in each stack. There is a dotted paper but it's not just polka dots, it's circles with hash marks inside them. Not the same. You can't go wrong with polka dots.  Anyway, this is what I chose to go with my card. It's kind of a fabric looking image in Real Red. I taped this piece to the Whisper White piece and then I taped the two of them to the front of the card.

I cut a 4-1/8" x 3" piece of Real Red card stock and then a 4" x 2-7/8" piece of Whisper White card stock.

The 4" x 2-7/8" piece of Whisper White was stamped with Versa Mark and black embossing powder was heat set on it. I used the dotted/splash image from the "Forever Fern" set.

I stamped the largest leaf set from the "Forever Fern" set using Pear Pizzazz ink.  I stamped the leaf you see in the center using Old Olive ink. I really can't see a difference between the two ink colors on my card. Perhaps it's because of how "airy" the leaves are.

I stamped the rounded type leaf set using Real Red ink.  I should have added some "Wink of Stella" to them so they would darken up a bit more. I think I can still do that, hopefully without ruining the card now that it's done.

The words are from the "Here's a Card" set and were stamped using Old Olive ink on Whisper White card stock. I punched them out using the "Label Me Fancy" punch. I also punched out two pieces in Old Olive and taped them to the back of the Whisper White piece, one up higher and one lower to give the impression that there's a matching border behind the word piece.  I added Dimensionals to the back of the word piece and set it in place on the card.

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock was added to the inside for writing on. And the card was done.

This was a very fun card to make and I am pleased with how it turned out.

Thank you SO very much for taking the time to stop by and have a look today,                                      Wanda
