is it?" post to leave your comment. Do not leave it here or it will not be counted in the drawing. A luck winner will be drawn on Wednesday the 2nd of May. Oh my, what has happened to the first quarter of this year??? This set could be yours!!

Here is another Sympathy card I made using the Stampin' Up! set "Close as a Memory." For this card I used the "Lace" background stamp with Ruby Red ink. I find with some of the card stock the background show up better if you use the same color ink as the paper instead of using VersaMark. I used markers and gave the stamp a spritz of water before I stamped it. I also did the background of the flowers with the "Linen" background stamp. I used Going Grey and I stamped off once. I sponged around the edges and then added a couple of corners to give it a little better look. For the word part I cut the card stock, stamped on it and then put the ends through the circle punch from the backside. I used the 1 1/4" circle punch for the white card stock and the 1 3/8" circle punch for the black card stock. Square just didn't seem to look right with this, it needed something more round to go with the lettering. I added 3 large brads. The small ones were just too tiny and seemed to look like mistakes on the card. I sponged the Ruby Red and white pieces. It was a pretty easy card to make.
My challenge was to take this 3" or so in diameter magnet (from the dollar bin at Michael's) and alter it. Then we're to bring it to our next meeting. This is what I came up with. I keep wanting to add some ribbon to it but where? I was told it doesn't need anything else. I tied a bow and set it on the circle in various places and it didn't look right. So I'm leaving it as it is but in the back of my mind I think I need to put some ribbon on it somewhere. LOL SO I just need to WALK AWAY!!!
I guess this card could be considered one of those versatile cards. I wanted to make a card from this set. I don't think I've ever used the set. I have a few of them like that and I want to use them before they retire!! I REALLY like this "Natural Beauty" set. It's a bit difficult to see but I used the "Rough Texture" jumbo wheel on the background. Not much of it is showing, which is a good thing because it got it a bit crooked. And that's ok too because after all, it is a handmade card! If you click on the photo you can see it enlarged. The words came with the stamp and I used the "Stamp-a-ma-jig" to line them up. I stamped them three times. I thought it made a nice background. I used a blender pen and Bravo Burgundy marker to color in the flowers and Certainly Celery and Garden Green markers for the leaves, stems and buds. I made a mask of the flowers and buds and then lightly sponged over the entire piece and of course the edges! I added a couple of black brads on the open corners. It just needed something there. To test the area I will punch out small dots and place them where I want brads or eyelets to go so I can visualize it better. I no more punched them out and set them in place and knew brads needed to go there. A fun card to make!

Here's two more baby cards I made using the "Bundle of Joy" set by Stampin' Up! I got the pattern for this at Kwerner Design in her tutorials section. It's called "Circle Window with Frame." It's a very fun and easy card to make once you see how it's done. For the giraffe's I took the 1 1/4" punch and punched a hole using scrap card stock. I set that piece on top of my white card stock and then stamped the giraffe. This lets you see how much of the giraffe you can get in the circle. I didn't make the head of the giraffe go all the way to the top. I wanted to keep some white space all around the entire circle. For the words I used the Expressive Flexible Phrases set. Because of the decorative paper I wanted something that would stand out and this did the trick! I was SO surprised at how quick it was to make these two cards!
I thought I'd post something more from the Spring mini catalog. This is from the set "That's Nice." The background is the "Petal's jumbo wheel. Gotta LOVE those jumbo wheels. They cover a lot of space in a short period of time. I used the Pumpkin Patch Spectrum pad with the wheel. It almost looks like designer paper! This is a regular 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card. It "hinges" at the left. That left section is taped shut. I chose this layout because you can use the smaller stamps on a regular size card. It involved a bit of cutting for the layers but basically it was a fairly simple card to do!
Here's a fun and quick card I made tonight. I used the "Flower Filled" set. One boot is cut out and mounted on Dimensionals. The apricot flowers were stamped on Whisper White card stock and then punched out with the 1/2" punch. They fit in it perfectly! The smaller flowers are done in Bashful Blue. Not many colors involved in this card! The words are from the set All Year Cheer II (which will be retiring at the end of June). I'll miss that set, it had so many versatile words in it. But I'm sure something even better is coming out to replace it! I used Brocade Blue for the main part of the card. The next layer is the decorative paper Spring Showers and behind the Apricot Appeal layer is the decorative paper from Pool Party. I added Vanilla grosgrain ribbon and tied a knot. The flowers have brads in the centers of them and Dimensionals are behind them. I sponged the edges of everything but the Brocade Blue background piece. You know me and sponging!!!
I got these little game books at the Oriental Trading Company. They've got TONS of things there you can alter! They sometimes offer free shipping and sometimes you can get 15% off too! Just have to be in the right place at the right time. It's best to go online to their site and sign up to be on their email for special offers!
Okay, back to the little game book. I just recovered the front with white card stock and added my artwork. Not difficult to redo. I thought they'd be a good thing for an ill child or even an adult. Though I think children would have more fun with the games inside. But then again it can be pretty boring in a hospital!!! You can decorate them up for birthdays or with a Christmas theme too. They'd make GREAT stocking stuffers. They sell well at craft fairs and they don't cost all that much either!
Thank you for checking in!
