The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Pecan Pie card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.
A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White was taped to the inside.
On the front I taped a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Sunflower Fields" 12" x 12" package.
I cut a strip of Pecan Pie card stock that measures 5-1/4" x 7/8". I stamped the birthday greetings from the "Phrases & Frames" bundle. I stamped them using Basic Black ink. The original card used white embossing powder. I am lazy and I need to go get the Versa Mark and powder. Then I need to go to another area to eat it. So I don't heat emboss much, mostly out of laziness!
The mouse was stamped next. It's from the "Christmas Mice" bundle. I stamped it on a piece of Basic White card stock using Basic Black ink. I colored it using Blends Pens. I colored the cheek and the inside of the ear using the dark Petal Pink pen. Then I colored the entire mouse using the Ivory pen. Next I used the light Pecan Pie pen to color the fur and around the ear but not the belly or inside the ear. Then I came in with the dark Pecan Pie pen to color the darker areas. I took a white marker and added the dots. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set aside.
Next I did my die cutting. I cut the arch using the 7th arch in the "Everyday Arches" set on Basic White card stock. I used Granny Apple Green ink on the bottom part of the piece and Hydrangea Hue ink on the sky.
The flower stem and flower is from the "Radiant Sunflower" bundle. I cut the stem using Mossy Meadow card stock and the flower was cut from Crushed Curry card stock. The center was cut from a scrap piece of Early Espresso card stock. I glued the center to the flower.
The mouse was set in place on the arched piece. The stem was glued in place and then the flower was glued down. It's on half of the arched piece, so I had to be mindful of where the glue needed to go.
I taped the word piece was taped down about 3/4" from the bottom edge of the card. Then the arched piece was set in place about 3/4" from the right edge and 1/2" from the bottom edge.
The arched piece was set in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals.
Using my dark Pecan Pie Blends pen I colored in some white dots from "Bats, Ghosts & Dots" package. I have a lot of white dots left and much to my surprise, they took the color nicely! Once the dots were added the card was done.
Do you think that if I changed out the flower for a present that this could pass for a masculine card?
This was a very fun card to make, even though it wasn't a Christmas card that I had intended to make. I just love this little mouse. I can't wait to play with it again.
Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda
