Expressions in Ink, Penned Flowers, Peaceful Moments, 2021-2022 Stampin' Up! Catalog

I saw this card on Kards by Kadie's blog and I had to make it. Mostly because of the flowers on the side. Here those dies were in my "Penned Flowers/Hand-Penned Petals" bundle and I didn't pay much attention to them.  Once the dies are cut out you can really see their beauty. I need to take the time to cut out every die in my sets so I can see what they really look like.  Looking at a die doesn't do it justice, it's like judging a book by it's cover.

For the base of this card I used a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock.  This card opens on the right and the fold is on the left. I cut a 2-1/2" x 5-1/2" piece of the new Evening Evergreen card stock.

The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the "Expressions in Ink" 12' x 12" package and was cut at 2-1/4" x 5-1/2".  Before I taped the DSP to the Evening Evergreen piece, I die cut three tiny leaves from the center of it and the scalloped piece as well. The scalloped oval is from the "Double Oval" punch.

The words are from the "Peaceful Moments" set and were stamped using Evening Evergreen ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock.

The flowers were die cut using Polished Pink and Pale Papaya card stock. I bought a variety package so I had each new in-color. It's a lot cheaper way to go and you will be able to see your favorite colors by how much you use from the package.

Now that everything was cut and stamped, it was time to assemble.

I taped the DSP to the Evening Evergreen strip. I taped the piece to the front of the card about 1/8" from the folded edge.

I set the flowers on the right side for placement. I wanted to get them evenly spaced and have room for the words.  I did my words differently than on the original card. I don't know why but I REALLY dislike head embossing. I don't know why. I love the way it looks but I'm just not a fan of doing it. SO I opted for stamping the words with ink. I taped the ovals together and set them on top of the card to see how it would look before taping it in place.

I used pieces of Dimensionals behind the flowers and full sized Dimensionals on the oval piece. When I set the flowers in place I did not press down on them, I needed to make sure I could slip a leaf under it. I did add tape to the backs of the little leaves. I just set it on my silicone mat and ran my tape over it. It did cover the center opening but I just took a toothpick and worked the tape out of the center. Then I slipped the leaves in place, pressed down on the flowers and set the words in place and the card was done.

Isn't it pretty? See why I had to make one?  She has a lot of fun cards on her blog. Go take a look.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see this pretty card,
Wanda
